We come here for a Saturday brunch, and the whole experience is great! Food: 5 stars for diner Service: 5 stars Ambience: 4.8 stars Cleanness: 5 stars Their garlic bread starter was thin and delicious - crunchy and buttery outside and soft moist inside. And we had a bowl of onion soup, and it was deliciously weather perfect! (it's drizzling that day) The hush brown that accompanied my Popeyes' Greek omelette was extra crispy, and the egg has no filler, like the one I would make at home. Their bagels were very fresh that day, and I love cream cheese with jelly on them! The lady who waited our booth was very sweet and nice, I wish I had asked her name.

Local diner also has a bar with limited cocktail menu. It's your typical Jersey diner. Service is fast as a diner should be. Food is hot and fries are crispy. Chicken parm wrap was so good! Better than other diners near by. This had sauce and cheese as it should! Potato salad was pretty good as well!

New to the area. Stopped in for a quick dessert. Was greeted right away and server was great, good attitude, friendly. I got a brownie sundae and asked for the brownie warmed up. It was delicious and hit the spot. My husband got the chocolate cake and he liked it. We will be returning to try our b'fast and dinner! As the food that was coming out looked delicious!

The menu is kinda a problem, no vegan/vegetarian/glutton free/ect markers making it extremely hard to navigate but also posing a big problem to those who have a limited diet such as myself and my friends. The food was pretty good, nothing special with the taste but the service was very quick.

Another visit to this local favorite. The diner has been renovated since last visit. It's modern, sleek and clean. Service friendly efficient and quick. Had a corned beef reuben. Luscious thick-sliced corned beef topped with sauerkraut, russian dressing and melted swiss cheese; on griddled rye bread. It's served as an open sandwich here, perfect to tackle with knife and fork. The corned beef is perfect and the sandwich has the right ratio of each of the ingredients. It's a classic NJ diner menu in a classic NJ diner. Go!

We arrived at the diner and were instantly greeted and seated. The place was nicely decorated for the holidays. The food came out quickly and our server was attentive. Prices were slightly higher than the average diner but food had good flavor. Everything was about $60 with tip.

***2 1/2 stars***…read more It's rare that I have a mediocre experience where I actually want to go back to the place to give it another shot. I came here yesterday for a post-Odyssey meal with my top-tier chum from the Kingdom of Sussex around 3:30pm. We found this place by playing one of my favorite games, Yelp Roulette, where you scroll through the nearby activity feed and just pick a place that shows up on there. You can really get burned doing that, or find an interesting spot you wouldn't have otherwise stumbled upon. This one was a little column A, a little column B. The overall space is what Norte 175 really has going for it - it's a really cool building, and they've done some edgy interior decorating. It's super spacious and definitely a place I could see myself coming back for drinks in the future. My chum got a margarita but I'm in training so had to forego - arguably, maybe that was the issue; comparing notes, the drink was probably the best item either of us had, and I didn't get it. And it IS a tequila bar. I did get a diet soda, which had solid carbonation, so there's that at least. Neither of us were insanely hungry (we had a bit of fuel before our three-hour movie screening) so we split three apps - the guac, the chicken quesadilla and the grilled octopus. None of them were particularly noteworthy. Palate preference, but the guac had way too much stuff in it for me; I like a smooth, avocado-forward guac, not obscenely chunky with tons of onions guac. The octopus was not the best - texture is really important with that dish, and this one was way too chewy. The accompanying sauce didn't do enough to negate that for me. And the quesadilla was just okay; a bit bland and could probably use some kind of aioli sauce in it, or perhaps more seasoning overall with the chicken. It was fine and the best of the three, which sadly isn't saying much. We also got the raspberry lemon mousse cake (well, pretty much I did - my chum had literally one bite to be polite). As you can see from the attached, it doesn't look like anything like its stock photo on the menu, which is worth noting - still looks fine but given how different it looks in person, arguably false advertising on some level. If you're thinking about getting it, I'd rely on customer photos versus the menu if the optics are important to you. Tasty but a little too sweet - they doubled down, essentially, on the tartness, which made it a bit overwhelming, but I could easily see a lot of people being into this. The service was just okay. Our waitress did stop by occasionally but just didn't seem to be in a great mood. It honestly felt like a bit of an imposition to ask her for anything. Obviously could have just been having a bad day, but when your primary responsibility is hospitality dot dot dot. She wasn't mean by any stretch but I just wouldn't categorize her as pleasant. Is what it is. This place could really benefit from its location, literally five minutes from the Rockaway Mall - and this isn't an area with an enormous amount of options beyond the chains, so they have a legit opportunity to cash in if they can improve the food options. We'll see what happens in the future with round two.

Last night, we tried out MT for its steak offerings, while sitting at the bar. At $70 a plate for ribeye on the Specials menu, we decided to ignore the sticker shock and go for it. The steak was seasoned well and served with mashed potatoes and mushrooms. Each side was tasty. It also came with a side of pseudo-mustardy bearnaise(yum) and barbeque sauce(why??). Unfortunately, the steak was VERY overcooked. Asked for it medium, it came out well done, and that might be an understatement. We also tried the scallops and shrimp with vodka cream sauce risotto. Scallops were very well handled... the shrimp (of which there were just two) were large but a bit waterlogged. Service was fine. Nothing much to rave or complain about. If we really nitpicked, they could be criticized for not knowing what a Greyhound is (seems pretty basic for trained barstaff) but #millenials...? All in all, I would not recommend this place as a "steakhouse " as they refer to themselves. Honestly, Longhorn cooks way better steaks (to the right temp) at a more reasonable price. However, the MT is great for drinks and apps, and even live music and bingo.. IF you can hear it over the group of extremely loud regulars who sit at the front corner of the bar.

Update: the beef craving appears to be related to perimenopause as all my mid-40s girlfriends have it too. I'm putting my ovaries on FB marketplace. Sick of it!! We used to go to "Fudds" as my dad (god rest his soul) called it at least once a week since I was in like 7th grade. Who remembers the Rt 1 location in Edison, followed by Bridgewater?? My "little" brother who is now 38 would be so hype to get the little dessert token with his kids meal. The whole experience is just so nostalgic for me - not to mention DELICIOUS!! But then they kinda all closed around here. There was one by my old spot in Silver Spring MD but that closed too. Interestingly, I saw one while I was in Dubai lmaaaooo but around NJ it's Parsippany (which wasn't that great) or as I discovered this week, this one. Yo, I smelled it before I even saw it. I had a friend doing her PHd on memory and smell and honestly she shoulda just made Fudds her fieldsite. As soon as I turned the corner of the strip mall I was like wait. Can it be?? And then boom - the sign. I texted my brother and said "I've got something that's gonna blow you mind." To his credit he thought I had discovered a secret Culver's lmao. This was somehow better. His response, "you gotta go in." AND DID! Placed my order for a 1/2lb mushroom burger on the website and went in 20 minutes later. It was everything I remembered. Pillow, buttery bun. Seasoned meat cooked to perfection. And that Fixins and condiment bar!! Just like old times. Low key was having a challenging day up until that point feeling overwhelmed by the reality of racism. (Did yall see that new "English proficiency" rules for truck drivers - better known by its short name - racial profiling) and I had already cried on a work call smh. To find this place, it was like I was 12 again with both my parents alive, just safe, having dinner. I hope when we die, it's like a tesseract where we can just choose a safe moment in time and stay there forever. Until then, burgers.
