The food was really good! My husband ordered Caroun Mix and french fries. Parents ordered beef kabobs, and beef tikka while I ordered tashreeb. The place serves Iraqi food. Tashreeb is a big dish of one lamb shank that's served on a very thick bed of Iraqi bread which is then soaked with tomato broth. Service was friendly and fast. The atmosphere was family friendly. Wow wow wow! I wish I had the time to take pictures of the goodness we had last night! We ordered dinner from Carouns through Grubhub to Hilton Tapattio Cliff hotel. The menu had lots of good options so my husband and I ordered the Tashreeb, which is basically a lamb shank cooked in a beautiful tomato sauce with some chickpeas, onions and green bell peppers as well as spices. It is served on a bed of big broken pieces of bread. We also ordered the half grilled chicken. It is served with rice, garlic sauce, and cabbage salad on the side as well as Lebanese bread. The food took about 45 minutes from order to delivery. They had a $5 off deal and I have free delivery on grubhub so the order was about $36 before tip. When the food arrived it was very hot and fresh. The portion size was huge! Each of those dishes could have easily fed two people; we have leftovers today. The taste was just amazing! The lamb shank was so tender, it was falling off the bone. I am not Iraqi originally but if I remember correctly, this dish is eaten by hand. You just grab the pieces of bread, cut a piece of meat, dip some saucy goodness with it and enjoy! Everything in this dish was 10/10! The chicken was flavored beautifully with garlic and the rice was good with some veggies. They complemented each other very well! This was an amazing discovery at that part of the valley! I just decided to order when I saw they had pretty good reviews and a deal going on! This place is a must try if you enjoy Middle Eastern dishes! We cannot wait to go back again! I have been here 2 times now. The decoration is beautifully done, the ambiance depends on your company it can be dinner and chat, or with friends to smoke hookah after dinner. Two separate areas for people who don't want to smoke or be near it. The owner, manager, waiters and everyone are professional and provided us with excellent customer service. This last time we ordered the Chicken Shawarma it came with fries garlic dip and pickles, and the Kebab Satour came with onions and grilled tomato's and parsley, with fresh bread. Sometimes I find the best places unexpectedly and Carouns was one of them. It had been a rough weekend and Monday was a hot day to run errands so I didn't need much of an excuse not to cook. We were practically next door at dinner time and I'd heard good things. We walked into a strip mall restaurant to find white tablecloths and lavish decor. We were greeted warmly by our server. She appeared to be a one-man show that night but she had her robot helper and there were only a few diners. However, within about 30 minutes the restaurant suddenly filled up. You can tell this is a place for many families who seem to be regulars. I had been thinking about Baba Ganoush lately so I naturally ordered it as an appetizer. This tasty dish took care of my cravings! I ordered the Chicken Sharma and this massive plate of moist chicken arrived. The marinade and spices were perfect, the rice was tasty but there was just too much for me. (This became lunch for my husband and myself the next day). My husband ordered the mixed plate and is still talking about how great tasting and tender the beef was.
