The first thing that strikes you about this place is how clean it is. It really is spotless. We met I other people here and ate inside. There are plenty of tables and it was very comfortable. The food was very good. They have most of the choices you would expect, and they also have a few American food choices as well. We will certainly be back. Absolutely delicious Sunday lunch today at a new spot we tried based on my Yelp search feed algorithm! I probably would not have found this spot near me in Glendale, Arizona if it hadn't popped up, and it had excellent ratings. We are always searching for a really good Mediterranean food spot. Found it! This restaurant is located in a strip mall and has plenty of parking in a private parking lot near the front entrance. There are two rows of tables inside for customers, some seating up to six per table, and a men's and women's restroom. The restaurant is very clean and the tables are cleaned right as customers leave. There are two TVs with close caption. One was playing the football game and the other had the Transformers movie on. I was happy I was facing the Transformers movie lol. We ordered: - Bottle of Cold Coca-Cola - Bottle of Cold PureLeaf Unsweetened Tea - Hummus Appetizer - Ground Chickpea, Olive Oil, Pita Bread (A nice mild and fresh hummus) - Tabouleh Salad Appetizer - Tomato, Onion, Parsley, Olive Oil & Lemon Wedge (So good - fresh parsley, salt, and lemon - is there a better combination? They make it fresh and well here) - Skewers Combination Plate - Lamb Chop, Grilled Chicken, Steak, Kefta Shish Kebob, Rice, Salad (Hubs was so impressed with this plate. He ate everything and was very happy. I tried a bite of the Lamb Chop and it was tender and flavorful - so good) - Hummus & Chicken Shawarma Plate - Tender, marinated pieces of chicken on a bed of hummus with fresh sliced tomatoes and red onion, Kalamata olives, & wedges of pita bread. (I loved my plate. I'm so glad I ordered this. I can't have rice and this meal has no rice in it. It gives a large portion of their delicious house made hummus with a heaping portion of hot chicken on top. The fresh veggies and bread complement the dish, and give a very filling meal.) Food is brought to the table by the chef or servers. Everything is very fresh. Leave dishes on the table when you leave and they will clear them. The chef here is incredibly friendly and brought a smile to my face today. He insisted I get his photo as I was snapping a shot of the soda fountain- Ha! This spot has a very good vibe. I love the simple and pretty decor on the walls of Sumerian/Babylonia/Iraqi culture. A few misses: we had to ask for olive oil on our hummus - that seems an obvious way to garnish such beautifully-made hummus (which I couldn't stop eating). Bread was fresh and warm; we probably could have used a bit more. She was impressed with the garlic sauce and found it very authentic (which apparently means garlic, garlic, garlic!). Overall a quiet, clean, and peaceful place. Fountain drinks or some bottled teas,etc., are also available. You order and pay and if staying to eat there, they will bring your food to you. The place was clean, the chicken plate had some flavor, wife said the salad was flavorful but lacked any punch, the pita was good. Bad. The taziki sauce was terrible, no flavor, no little dots of spices, it was basically flavored mayonnaise. The menu board pictured a much larger salad than what she got, and the tomatoes are cubed in the picture. For 10 dollar salad, expected more. The chicken and the beef shwarma plates show way more meat in the menu picture.....way more. Don't get me wrong, there was a normal amount of chicken on the plate it just didn't reflect the picture at all. The soda fountain was flat, at least the diet coke was and they have wayyyy to small cardboard cups. Also the plate didn't come with a pita, that was a buck more. So the total bill was over $40 dollars for two people ordering off the lunch menu, and one of us just got a salad. They have a simple menu which is nice; basically you chose if your want a sandwich (pita bread or sajj wrap), rice bowl, salad, fry bowl, and then you choose your protein (gyros, lefts kachicken kabob, chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, falafel). They've got extra toppings and sides as well. I ordered the chicken kabob sajj wrap and it was great. I tried a French fry and liked it, might have to get some next time. Very disappointed with the customer service at Skewers Mediterranean Grill. I stood at the counter for several minutes while the workers were busy talking to each other and completely ignoring the customers waiting to order. No acknowledgment, no "we'll be right with you" -- just ongoing personal conversations like the customers didn't even exist. It's incredibly unprofessional and frustrating to be treated like an afterthought. If you're running a business, especially in food service, attention and courtesy toward your customers should be a priority. Unfortunately, that was clearly not the case here. I won't be coming back. There are plenty of other places where they actually appreciate your business and know how to treat people with respect. read more

We were greeted immediately upon entering Skewers and checking out the menu. Not being entirely familiar with the food we asked a few questions including what was recommended being gluten free. The guys working were extremely helpful and told me what to stay away from. Being unsure of source spices and sauces, I kept it basic and got a combo skewer plate without falafels. The salad was crisp and just a perfect dressing that was very light and refreshing. The skewers well prepared and tasted great with the tasty rice that was served. Very hearty servings made for more than enough for a lunch meal. We'll be back for sure to enjoy more and like forward to trying other items off the menu. read more

In addition to Fry Bowls, they have 1) Rice Bowls, Salad Bowls, Pita Style, and Wraps then you decide what you want in it, 2) Falafel, Kefta Kabob, Beef Shawarma, etc. Lastly, you can add 3) toppings, sauces, and order side salads. You can get your platter as a pita, fry bowl, wrap or salad. I got the chicken kabob salad ($7.50). My chicken was moist, developed with flavors and was nicely seasoned. The salad was fresh and was studded with feta cheese and was garnished with pickled turnips and pickles. It was just the right portion...not too big. My husband tried the gyro salad ($7.50). The meat (beef & lamb) was moist and flavorful. For him the salad was small but it was good! We shared a side order of falafels and a beet salad (both were $3.00 each). The felafels weren't crisp but the were herby and fried nice (seemed free of oil) The beet salad was light and refreshing and was mixed with cucumber, garbanzo beans and fresh herbs. Overall a very good experience. This place is leaps and bounds better than the last place that was here. Plan to try more. Worth a try if you are in the area. read more
