We're trying more and more to focus on healthy dining when we go out. But we don't want to forgo fun atmospheres and great tasting foods. We still love chicken wings and fries and burgers with onion rings, etc., but we know we need to be careful as we look around us to see what is happening to our health in America in general. Pills, injections, procedures, etc. are not the answers. So many times a healthy foods or Mediterranean theme restaurants satisfied that 'healthy' aspect, but it is a hit-or-miss experience. Charcoal Grill is average sized inside (there is no outside dining) and a bit sparse, but they have great service, is clean and offers plenty of selections on their menu. Not bad. Not bad at all and we look forward to coming back. read more

Service was great! I got the chicken shawarma wrap on the authentic bread and the yogurt drink which reminded me of ayran. The lemon mint juice was super refreshing too! The meat was flavored and not dry. Only thing was the baklava tasted old. read more

The food was delicious here and something really enjoyed. We had the mixed Shawarma platter. Lamb kabobs and a lamb chop and baklava were delicious. The service was very good. The ambience was decent nothing to over the top. But modest in presentation. Solid 4 out of 5 as far restaurants read more

The problem I have with places like this is they seem to punish the patron that decides to eat out versus dining in. You can clearly see a difference in the portioning sizes that you get if you sit there and eat versus leaving and getting your food to go. Look at my kebab plate compared to the kabobs that come on a plate when you eat in! This plate was supposed to include two kabobs but this is literally one kebab chopped in half. If you you can't sit there and eat, didn't order from there at all! read more

Charcoal Grill - Kebab plate, they say it suppose to come with two of them. I can't tell. Look at how sad they look! - Mediterranean Near Me - Glendale, Arizona

(3.5) We ordered from this place through Door Dash recently. My first gripe is that the door dash menu isn't set up for you to choose rice or fries as a side even though it says you can choose. So that was annoying. My second gripe is that this food is pricey!!!! My husband and I both ordered the mixed Shawarma plates, which were $35 each. The food was delicious though. Third gripe is that the $8 single piece of baklava we ordered was not that good. It was nice and flakey, but it wasn't very sweet. I would not recommend the baklava The rest of the food was good though, so maybe dining in would be the better option. But it's not cheap. read more

Amazing experience. The best Mediterranean food on the west side of the Valley. This is going to be my new go to stop.

My brother recommended Charcoal Grill several times to me . He said the portions were huge. I thought we would give it a try for lunch. We both had their Shawarma on a pita. I had Chicken and my brother had Beef. We also had a couple of Falafel rings. The Shawarma was very good. The Falafel rings were good too. The portion was not what I thought was huge . Just average to me. Maybe he thought their entree potions were huge. I'll give that a try next time out. read more

Walked in to a clean comfortable ambiance with some traditional music in the background. Quickly greeted and seated. Friendly staff. As soon as you walk in you can smell and see the meat roasting on coals in a giant skewer. My whole party enjoyed their food and raved about the taste. The lamb was nice and tender seasoned just right. Plates are very filling and well served. Can't wait to try again. Clean bathrooms with changing table in the women's. read more

Read so many great reviews and saw a lot of videos on TikTok. But honestly couldn't justify them. The restaurant is very dim inside. Service wasn't extremely welcoming. The girl who was working that day kind of had a judgmental attitude. Due to poor lighting it is hard to understand if restaurant is clean or not. The food was just ok. Nothing to be wow about. read more

Solid 3.5 stars for amazing flavorful beef and chicken schwarma and rice with excellent hot pita. You can tell the baba ghanouj was fresh made. We just wish the lamb was better because the cuts were not great and the meat was rough and chewy. Also the hummus was fine but maybe we popped in on the wrong day? read more

Looking for a new place to try Mediterranean food? If you are in the Glendale area, look no further! Charcoal Grill is very popular for their grilled meats such as lamb kabobs, shawarmas, and chicken tikka. They also offer loaded fries, Greek and vegetarian options. Casual setting with a cute bar if you're feeling spontaneous for a margarita with your meal! The service was quick, and the waiter was attentive and soft spoken. He made sure that we were comfortably enjoying our food and experience. Everything came out piping hot, fresh and sooo delicious!!! Even the rice had a flavorful punch in my mouth. Plenty of parking space and reasonable pricing with a generous portion. I think I found my new GO TO spot. read more

The perfect trio: 5/5 That plate was so good it steak ,chicken and lamb. My favorite surprisingly was the chicken. Service: 5/5 They were all so pleasant and they took care of us like we were family. Ambiance: 5/5 I love that the tv had sports on just so I can catch up on my highlights and you can tell they really put some thought into their decor layout. Overall love this place and you're welcome. read more

The chicken shawarma salad was great. Chicken was well seasoned and wasn't dry meanwhile the veggies were fresh & crisp and the dressing it came with was tangy and delicious. Also tried the chicken tikka and that was my favorite thing. The chicken was flavorful and had an excellent smokey taste from the grill. All the sauce it came with was tasty too. We ordered takeout and service was friendly & timely + the packaging was all very neat and they put sauces & dressings on the side like we asked. Would definitely come here again. read more

Charcoal Grill - My meal - Mediterranean Near Me - Glendale, Arizona

Omg. When you walk in, you can smell the smokiness of the meat and the wood. You can tell they are passionate about how the food is. We went at an "off peak" time, so with some restaurants it's hit or miss if the food/presentation would be good. The food looked delicious and it was. I got the beef schwarma plate. It was huge. I was starving and I knew on sight it was going to last at least 2 meals. The salad is exactly how you'd want, lots of toppings, everything was fresh. Yassss. The pita, super tasty, it was soft, had a good amount of tenderness and chew to it. Hummus-balanced, they finished it with olive oil, which adds to the richness, it had a good amount of tahini, I don't like hummus when it has too much in it. Rice-not too salty, flavorful, cooked to a good texture Beef schwarma meat- tender, flavorful and delicious. Garlic sauce- vampires stay away (lolll sorry I had to say it), this garlicky sauce is a nice compliment to the beef and it also tastes good dipping the pita in it. It doesn't shy away from the garlic, and it seems similar to a Mayo but not as thick. He got the beef schwarma combo, a beef schwarma wrap, fries & soda. The fries are crispy and cooked nicely but not that many places mess up frozen fries. Service was nice, incorrect soda was brought but we didn't care to fix it, it was not a big deal We got food to go, a kids meal with the chicken schwarma and fries, she said it was so good. She gave me a bite of the chicken and I thought it was pretty good, but still liked the beef better. She liked the chicken better than the beef bc I brought it home and she had some too. Would I come back? Obvi. It's not too far from me, service was very nice and the food was tasty. Would I do anything different? Order more pitas and hummus. read more

We don't have anything like this where we are from but we wish we did.. this is fantastic Chicken Shawarma done over charcoal which takes it to a higher level... hummus is smooth and very flavorful... Service is great and there is plenty of parking. I saw these loaded French fries on the menu but we ordered too much food already so next time we are trying those. Highly recommend the hummus appetizer with your choice of meat.. it comes with these light and crispy puffy chips that you won't get anywhere else. read more

Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. We tried the chicken wings (mango habanero, buffalo and garlic lemon) and they were crunchy and amazing. The garlic lemon were my favorite. The loaded fries were so good- we ordered another basket. Their hummus, salad, and rice were all so delicious. Every bite was superb! Our server, Matt was great. He kept our drinks filled and has a very pleasant demeanor. We will be back many times over! read more

Great food and very friendly service. Will be back soon for the lamb and also humus.

We had couple of schwarma wraps takeout couple days ago. This was similar to a burrito style because it was wrapped in pita. Very good on the go as it came wrapped nicely. The beef was little greasy but tasty. The chicken was better of the two. The meats are charcoal grilled which gave them a nice flavor. They had live band playing on a Friday night too. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend! read more

Charcoal Grill - Beef Shawarma Wrap and Chicken Shawarma Wrap - Mediterranean Near Me - Glendale, Arizona

My husband and I came here really late on a Friday night. It was nice to have this as an option for a late night meal. We got the hummus flight, the mix kabob/tikka plate, and the mix shawarma plate. We both really enjoyed the original and spicy hummus. The jalapeño hummus was alright, but it wasn't spicy. The lamb was our favorite of all the meats we got. The rice was very good, we definitely recommend it over the fries. I didn't give a 5 star rating because the shawarma and chicken kabob was a little dry. The server was really polite and very quick to take our order and refill our drinks. We will definitely be coming back. read more

Love love love! Super close to my house and I'm just getting a chance to sink my mouth into some of the offerings from Charcoal Grill! I was invited here and was pleasantly impressed! The delicious smell hits you as soon as you walk in the door! Lots of choices and it was hard to decide what to pick! I wanted one of everything, but settled on the whole chicken platter since it would be plenty for later! The white garlic sauce is a tasty accompaniment! I simply enjoyed everything from the salad, hummus, pita, and even fries! The happy hour discount on drinks is even available on Saturdays! I highly recommend this place when you are in the area, or better yet, make a trip to this side of town. You will taste why the rating is so high! I will definitely be back for more! read more

On a recent trip, I found an amazing Turkish kebab place and wanted to find a local place that had similar food. Charcoal Grill was a great find. Right up front when you walk in are two rotating spits slowly turning juicy meat over charcoal. The menu has lots of options but we selected a skewer trio and a mixed shawarma plate. Whoa! Hugely generous servings on a pizza-sized plate. We barely made a dent in our portions. The great news about that is...leftovers! The staff was attentive and friendly but but not hovering. The tables were somewhat basic restaurant quality tables but this could easily be a upscaled later as the tasty food was suitable for a tablecloth and cloth napkins -- though I'm sure it would be messy and expensive to manage a linen bill with rice and olive oil in abundance! Definitely go check out Charcoal Grill for something local, tasty and different from your run of the mill night out. read more
