My husband and I decided to make the drive from the East Valley to try Pita Kitchen, and when we arrived the place was packed -- usually a great sign. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. We ordered and were asked if we were dining in or taking our food to go. We said dining in, but there were no open tables inside (around 12 total) and zero tables available outside. We ended up waiting in the back for a table to open while staff repeatedly walked around looking for our table number, never once asking if the order might be ours. After several minutes, someone finally asked if we were number 11. We were. Once seated, the decor was cute, but service was mediocre at best. The food was the biggest disappointment. It had been a while since we last visited, and it's definitely not the same. The rice was bland and flavorless, and the gyro meat tasted like frozen, reheated product -- very dry, with the main flavor being salt. Instead of the fresh-carved gyro meat you typically see on a vertical rotisserie at most Greek restaurants, the kitchen area was closed off, so there was no visible preparation or carving station. For nearly $50, the experience simply did not match the price. Between the disorganized service and underwhelming food, we won't be back. Next time, we'll stick to supporting East Valley Greek spots that offer better quality and value. I want to preface, this place used to be good. Not sure of ownership changed, but save yourself a trip and find something better and more affordable read more

Tucked in shopping center your Mediterranean cravings will be rewarded. Unfortunately no fault to the business parking is always hit or miss but be patient and you'll be rewarded. QR codes for the menu are in the entrance and on every table if your heart desires to get techy or just look up by the register. Nice mellow music playing in the background makes you relax and enjoy your food. Customer service always great here. I had the gyro meat plate with Greek salad on a bed of rice. Delicious as always. My company had chicken Shawarma on a bed of rice with vegetables medley and a side of pink sauce. Must try. Nice clean bathrooms. Smile. PS they close on Sundays. read more

Saw the 5 star rating and thought yes. Was a bit disappointed. When we ordered we weren't told for the beef kabobs it was a 15-20 minute wait. We saw multiple people come in and out while we were sitting there. The kabobs was ok but not fantastic. The chicken shawarma was ok I would have loved a bit more sauce. This is probably one of my most favorite places for lunch! They offer such a wide selection of dishes and the portions are huge. I often will order the falafel in some violation whether it be on a pita, plate or recently I've loved the salad. The salad comes with your choice of protein , a pita bread and dressing, do yourself a favor order extra garlic sauce and tzatziki! I ordered this time via Uber Eats but usually I order online and pick up in person. They have a loyalty program as well so make sure you join for future savings. read more

I've been to Pita Kitchen in Avondale several times now, and each visit has been nothing short of amazing. From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed by a warm, inviting dining space that sets the tone for a great experience. When I stepped up to the counter to place my takeout order, I was greeted with genuine friendliness. Each time, the staff took the time to walk me through the menu when I couldn't decide what to get. went in Saturday night to grab dinner. I ordered the chicken plate and my wife got the kabobs. She's been here before and suggested we go since I'm a big fan of chicken shawarma and Mediterranean food. I want to point out that I almost never leave reviews. I just can't shake this experience because I genuinely love shawarma and usually get a chicken shawarma plate with double rice in San Diego every couple of weeks for my family. My plate was about a 1.3/10. The chicken tasted sour, and meat can taste that way when it's starting to spoil. It was honestly one of the worst-tasting plates I've had. My wife's kabobs were decent with no complaints, but I felt the need to write this to get it off my mind. For a $45 meal, it just wasn't worth it. This is coming from someone who's a die-hard chicken shawarma lover from San Diego, where the cost of living is so much more but somehow also cheaper, which blows my mind. read more

Sick, sick, sick, I Ordered a gyro pita with no lettuce , no tomato and easy onion. I received a gyro which was drenched in oil and I mean soaked in oil, and didn't have any tzatziki sauce either. After eating it, being very disappointed, I told my wife that something was off. We got home, about 35 minutes and I was sicker than a dog. Severe stomach pain and terrible diarrhea. This lasted all night and into the next day. I'm still sick while I'm writing this review. I will never go back to Pita Kitchen again. Being sick SUCKS!!!!!!!!! MY whole next day was ruined. The manager/ owner, with man bun, who is always outside on his phone should be inside making sure the food and guests are being taken care of. This is not the first time the food has been UNACCEPTABLE. Something needs to change. read more

Honestly, the food was delicious. We'd go back for the falafels 100x over, delicious. It was the service that was awful. We walked in and someone, presumably the owner, said to give him one second. Totally good. A girl comes up after him so I say hi and she doesn't say a word, but has her headphones in. My husband orders something from the menu but, pretty rudely, she says, "that's 2 things. You need to order one, so which is it." I give her a look that says ??? And she immediately stops talking. Does not acknowledge what I'm ordering, just types it in. When I go to order the garden harvest bowl, she asks if I want protein and I don't, so she puts my order down as a veggie side. Literally a small plate of vegetables. The garden harvest is its own order, not a side of vegetables. We will probably go to the other locations, but not this one again read more

Holy smokes this was amazing! I'm orig ally from California and love Mediterranean food. Genuinely have not had a chicken plate with so much flavor. You could smell the char on the chicken, and so juicy when you take a bite. I definitely recommend, along with the Greek fries - best Greek fries I have eaten. The feta was thicker vs smaller crumbles that are not as easy to taste. If you like spicy you can ask for their hot sauce (they make in house) on the side. read more

We stopped in Pita Kitchen on July 4th after a day of shopping. Honestly we didn't have high expectations, we were hungry and it was close by. I was in the mood for something other than pizza and burgers. We underestimated this establishment!!! We walked in and it's a small dining room with tables and a few booths. The menu wasn't super huge but had some great options (my gf is vegetarian so I love that they had the veggie pita) the prices were right on point so we ordered. Man.... The food was SOOOOO good. The wait wasn't bad, and the food came out piping hot. You know it was freshly made. The French fries reminded me of high school, you know the good battered French fries?? The veggies in the pita were grilled but still crisp and delicious. The falafel was the best I ever had, moist inside with a crisp outside. Not dried out like most! And My rice bowl was huge for $14! And came with all the toppings. The garlic side sauce was delicious as well. I had to get extra before we left. We thoroughly enjoyed our food. I will 100%. Be back! read more

This established is tucked into a busy shopping center. You walk up to the counter to order. I got the chicken shawarma salad. The salad was ok sized. It did have a lot of chicken but it seemed to lack flavor. A side of pita with hummus was big but the pita was grilled/fried. It tasted good but I don't normally eat fried foods and it was greasy. All my food was burnt to the point I could not even bite into. I used to love this place it was my go to always great customer service but if this is how they do business now it's horrible! It used to be good quality food I'm telling you it was my favorite but I will sadly suggest do not come here not worth $20 of burnt food,,, dude even my pita bread was burnt like who burns pita bread and if its burnt why would you even serve it to customer ?, that seriously should be a crime its so horrible. read more

I've come here twice now, first time was with my bf, he ordered the chicken plate and I ordered the gyros wrap. I wasn't expecting much since this is a chain restaurant in Phx, but I was pleasantly surprised with both dishes! Neither of the proteins were dry and both tasted pretty good. Second time I came in by myself and ordered the gyro wrap again, this time it was lacking the veggies that comes in it and didn't have much of the tzatziki sauce, it didn't have a lot of sauce the first time either which kind of sucks because it's .75 cents for extra sauce that comes in a tiny ramekin. read more

The lamb was seasoned and not dry. The plate came with two sides of your pricking, I went with the salad and rice. The salad was fresh and their salad dressing was really tasty. It was a good sized, tasty mouth watering salmon (a bit salty), on a bed of hummus. I added an avocado for extra fee. There was a small salad that came with it, like a garnish. It was a nice flavorful hummus with lemon and cilantro but it was a lot of hummus. If I'm in the mood for an actual bowl, I'd go somewhere else. I would consider trying other things from the menu. My husband I went here for an easy date option. At first when I went in I assumed it was a major chain based on the lay out and then quickly realized it's a small business. Which I love supporting. The manager was very welcoming and gave a feeling like you were eating at their home. The food tasted amazing and true to Mediterranean cuisine. We tried the steak shawarma wrapped in pita. It's so full of flavor it's hard to stop eating. The best part? Their portion sizes match the pricing and they pack your dishes full of meat. Upon entering/ordering, there was zero customer service and the girl was not friendly at all, almost as if she was ready to clock out - it was not close to closing. The food quality and price does not align. The hummus was basic and a TINY amount is given - literally the 2oz salsa cups that taco shops use. The gyro meat was not cooked properly and was too salty. The place was rather busy during dinner time, so the food was fresh but not tasty. The chicken in the other pita was near white in color - very unseasoned and not flavorful at all. There's tons of Greek spots to try in town, and this shouldn't be one of them. read more

We said we wanted the meal compensated. They agreed minus the 25% coupon we used. That made sense and we were supposed to be refunded 13 dollars to the card. They have options!! I including Pita bread!! I was able to get a full plate meal with Chicken Kebobs and Beef Schwarma... I don't know agreed foods well but the gal taking the order was very helpful and knew which foods I was not able to eat. The green dressing served with the meal was tasty and the perfect accompaniment. A Coke fountain is available with tons of options or the real coke bottles are available as well! I came in slightly before the lunch rush and ordered a salmon plate with fries and rice with a side of a chicken kabob. The order took much longer than I hoped and my salmon and chicken were more on the dry side than moist. I never even got my fries and was given a salad instead. I know I could have notified staff but the line was so long and orders were so backed up that it wasn't up to even bothering. The salad along with the hummus was mediocre. I am not sure if it took longer than most because I ordered salmon, but it was clear it was a very long wait time. I had four other people in back of me resolved their order before me both take out and done in. I might give this plane another try but will try to do so nowhere near lunch rush or a dinner rush. I felt the place somewhat claustrophobic might be the color palette/decor. The ale are very narrow and if the line is long people waiting in line stand right beside you as you eat. read more

Good Chicken plate - Juicy chicken, Greek salad and saffron rice. This is the best option here. GYRO - Most interesting is the fact that they put the onions and tzatziki sauce on the bottom of the pita bread and then pile the gyro meat on top. I didn't like that presentation because I couldn't pull out the extra onions and it just didn't look visually pleasing. Taste was still good. Feta fries were really good.
