Hire actual Middle Eastern people to formulate the recipes used for the food on the menu. Get authentic pita, not the sweet commercial grade stuff you're serving. If you're going to serve baba ganoush then make it right - that means roasting whole eggplants over a fire until they are creamy inside and then mashing them manually. It doesn't mean cooking eggplant and then adding artificial smoke flavor trying to replicate what happens when it's properly cooked. And add some tahini in a copious amount to give it the proper flavor. I ordered food through GrubHub not being aware that this was part of a local chain. After getting my food and attempting to eat it, I went to the website and that was when I learned that it was started not by a middle eastern family but by two entrepreneurs named Ray and Ryan. Therein lies the problem. This food is as authentic as a cubic zirconia is to diamonds. Even the beef kebab was lacking even though it was made out of ground beef which is the basis for the Middle Eastern ground beef kebab which is known as kofta. That was served with some kind of weird mayonnaise based dipping sauce, not at all appropriate. I'm taking the very large container of baba ganoush and putting it in the garbage because it's that inedible. I was able to get down the beef as long as I didn't use the dipping sauce. The food was excellent. I'd honestly give it 6 stars if I could. Unfortunately, the service experience was the complete opposite. I placed my order 43 minutes in advance and still ended up waiting over an hour before it was ready. For a pickup order, that's simply too long. Maybe they're still working through the growing pains of a new location, but the experience was frustrating enough that I probably won't order from this location again. The Surprise location has been much more consistent in my experience. If you're planning to eat here, I'd recommend dining in rather than ordering takeout. Ordered from uber bc we had credit and there was a bogo deal. The portions were huge! I chose the rice (which was a bit dry and didn't have much flavor), and fattoush salad (which was very fresh and the crispy pita chips and pomegranate added a nice texture, and the dressing had good flavor). I was going back and forth between 3-4 stars but ended on 3 for a few reasons. Place is very clean and welcoming, but the plates are quite expensive for the amounts you get. Also there is a 3% credit card fee on top of the high prices. The fries we received weren't hot, so we sent them back. The fries that came back out were obviously just tossed back into the fryer for a few minutes, but this made them very hard and lacked any flavor. The chicken and rice were very good, but the gyro was not it. For $9 a gyro side plate, we were extremely disappointed in the amount you get. We may be back but won't get the fries or gyro again for sure. read more

I ordered to-go from Pita Kitchen and had a really good experience overall. It did take a little while to get my food, but the two orders ahead of mine were pretty big, so it made sense. They have a great selection, and I ended up ordering two dishes straight off the menu pictures. The Lamb Chops Plate and Chicken and Steak Kabob Plate. The portions are big, which I loved. Everything was seasoned really well...honestly, just full of flavor. I also tried the jalapeño hummus and it was really good. The salad was delicious too, and even the veggies were seasoned perfectly. While I was waiting, I noticed how the employees interacted with other customers, and it really stood out. They were so sweet and caring, making sure orders were correct and even double-checking that utensils were in the bags. It gave such a welcoming, community feel. Finally tried Pita Kitchen today. Maybe they're still a bit new in Verrado, but neither the counter or kitchen staff knew whether the kabobs are chicken breast or not (web site says they are) so my wife didn't order anything. I got the Greek pita with chicken shawarma. It was good but I got three chunks of cartilage in my first few bites and gave up. We know friends who like it though. read more

Flavors are good, place is clean, and staff is nice. Ordered the gyro plate which comes with 2 "bases", which were the lentil soup (awesome) and cilantro jalapeño hummus (also tasty). Now, every time I have ever ordered a gyro plate/platter anywhere- it comes with seasoned thinly-sliced onions, tomato, and tzatziki to dress up the gyro. This was just meat. With one pita. Only a psychopath eats a gyro with no onions, tzatziki, or tomatoes. I'm sadly disappointed bc a gyro is not a gyro without the other flavors. read more

On our way back home and had to stop at this new spot. You order at the counter but they bring your food. Service was great with a super friendly young lady helping us. Faint Greek music in the background and lots of people in and out. We had the Family Meal. It stays feeds 3-5 people but it will feed more than that new were 4 adults and couldn't finish it. Upon walking into the restaurant there's a barcode that can be scanned to view the menu. There are also barcodes on all of the tables. Once I decided what I wanted, I was greeted with a warm welcome which was very pleasing. I ordered the Greek Salad with Chicken Shawarma and it was really good! I was a little hesitant to try the pink dressing that came with it when I first saw it but it added a great flavor to the salad!! For my drink I had what I think is pink lemonade, but it was very refreshing and good! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because I feel that it would be beneficial to label the drinks next to the fountain drinks and teas and although my salad was good the chicken was a bit dry. So excited to finally have this in the neighborhood. The order To-Go took an unusually long time and people that came in way after me had their food delivered to the table. I ran in to friends who came in after me - had a huge line in after them and they commented on how people got their food before they did. Mine was a to go, they were eating in. I had to ask where my food was. It is expensive! It was more than a visit to Pita Jungle who has waitress and table service. They charge for using a credit card - Just be aware. That's a Sedona thing, not a Buckeye AZ thing. With all of that, the chickens is Delicious! I ordered a kabob plate and I ordered the steak schwarma plate for my husband. All the proteins are cook at the moment. Place order at the register , seat down and a sever will bring the food to the table. I ordered the family meal. It was disappointing because they packed all the food in one foil pan container. They were too stingy to pack the vegetable items in a separate container....which caused the rice and grilled meats to be soaked with cucumber salad dressing and vegetable juices (since it was steaming in the same container as the rice and grilled meats). The portions were also on the stingy side. It was supposed to be enough for 5, but was realistically enough for 4 people. There are better options elsewhere. read more

Ok so. I will start with the fact I am half Greek, so my standards are fairly high when it comes to Greek food. That said, the lunch I had was delicious. The gyro was not lamb - just beef - which is fine, it was tasty. I prefer lamb, but that's my preference. The Greek fries were also quite yummy, but only a bit of feta and no Greek seasoning on them so I had to take a bit off my rating. The tzatziki was a bit watery - but the flavor was good. Needed some more dill... and cucumber. The vinaigrette on the side was very good and enjoyable. My son got the gyro plate, with fries and rice, and he really liked it, but he said the gyro meat reminded him of meatballs. Not necessarily a bad thing!! Overall, I'd say a 4.5 out of 5. It's definitely more Mediterranean (there's some Lebanese and Turkish items too) than specifically Greek, which we sorely need on this side of town. But it's a good lunch spot, the food is fresh and the staff was awesome! Very friendly, and the restaurant is clean and there's quite a few spots to sit and wait if you're doing a takeout. They have some pastries and they serve Coca Cola instead of Pepsi - thank goodness. We will be back - I plan to try a few other items. Solid spot for lunch!! read more

Oh my gosh! I cannot express how impressed I am for someone who doesn't normally eat Mediterranean food often! I got the steak shawarma bowl with the rice and oh my gosh! It was the bomb and it came with this pink sauce. I dont what it was but i really enjoyed it. The fries are also delicious, they actually reminded of the fries from the burger joint i used to go to in California. The cashier, im not sure whether or not he's the owner, but he was really nice and even asked if i enjoyed my food, which of course I did! I would love to come back here again and get the steak kebabs and falafel. read more

I never write reviews... but this place deserves one! Me and my husband love their location in Avondale and would sometimes make the 20-30 minute drive just to get it. I was driving and around and noticed that this new location just opened right down the road from us. I was so excited to see it! We usually get the chicken kabob plate with their rice and hummus. Whatever marinade they use tastes AMAZING and the chicken is always grilled to perfection! Not a super big hummus person... but their jalapeño cilantro hummus is SO good. Food is made fresh so can sometimes take 15-20 minutes if you order while there. I do not mind to order super fresh/tasty food. But there is an option to order ahead. Staff is super friendly. We used to go down to the Avondale location 25 miles away during rush hour traffic just to enjoy the amazing food! Now we can enjoy anytime we want! The food here is ALWAYS fresh and always delicious. You cannot go wrong with any dish. Although I get the chicken skewers and husband gets the salmon everytime! Consistently delicious. It's almost like going to your family's house for dinner. Portion size is excellent and you def get your moneys worth! If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend you do! Like STAT! read more
