Well, first of all, I don't know why restaurants called themselves Greek if they're clearly mostly Middle Eastern. It's a lovely space. The wait staff was wonderful. However, I had saganaki, which was very good. I split it with a friend. But then I had the lemon chicken soup and it was well when we put it this way. I very rarely feel like spitting something out. My friend had the lentil soup and didn't like that so we switched to see if our taste buds were at fault and neither one of us liked either one. Suffice it to say I spent almost $30 including tip on a square of saganaki. It was clear when the waiter picked up the bowls that they were both full, but he didn't say a word and I really just wanted to get out of there and go home. read more

Went there last night with the family and it was good, ordered drinks, an appetizer and 5 meals. At least $200 w/tip. Most of us took half our meals home. Visited this place during my Peoria visit . I was craving for Mediterranean food and found this place nearby . Regarding food - Ordered Chicken shawarma pita which came with an option of either fries on the side or veggies. I took veggies . The taste was Ok . I have had better Mediterranean food before so I wasn't impressed by the taste as much . Price - I found it to be costly compared to other Mediterranean places I have tried where the food was also more delicious . Parking - it was easy as it's located in one of the shopping plaza . Wait time - I had to wait really long to get my food . It was a To Go order and I went with the assumption that I will order and the get my food in reasonable amount of time but they made me wait really really long and they didn't even tell me beforehand that the wait time was so long . A heads up would have been appreciated. I would have probably ended up not getting the food from here if I knew beforehand the amount of time they would make me wait . The people who answer the phone are rude. When you ask them about the lunch special they tell you that you can look online... I was driving and she wasn't nice about answering my questions. No one was inside at all it was dead during lunch time! Ordered to go. Smallest scoop of hummus for $10. And the lunch special kabob was NOT worth $17 at all... so so small of a portion. I dropped into this little slice of heaven on a whim. And it's all Greek for me. I started with the Dolmas. Served warm, the little, rolled pillows of rice and herbs melted in my piehole. Definitely an inclusion on my last meal should that come to pass. Next up, a Gyro Sandwich. The lamb meat was judiciously herbed and spiced. Tomatoes and red onion slices were garden fresh. The sauce, delicate. The wraparound pita bread was grilled to perfection...the edges crispy. I wanted to order Falafel, however there wasn't a way to order only two. And that's my challenge for management: add falafel and dolmas to the Sides menu so they con be sampled. Decor wise, the dining room is sizable and comfortably appointed. Although this is a dine-in place, we've only ever done carry out. But we keep coming back, this is our go-to Mediterranean place. Only "complaint" is that the portions are big. We always have too much food, which our bulldog considers a good problem to have. The gyros are flavorful and enough food for a meal and a half. The fries are crisp as they should be. Falafel can be dry, theirs isn't. The triple hummus is a must. And the kabobs are all juicy and well seasoned. We've visited probably a dozen times and there are still menu items we need to try. Hello, I really wish I were writing something fantastic; we need Fantastic in Peoria... not much to choose from when it comes to Greek. this was my 2nd time trying to like this place. 1st visit, TERRIBLE - Dry, Dry chicken, I couldn't eat it, so I left most of my food on the plate, it was kabob. no flavor, DRY, just not fit to eat. left the food on the plate paid for the lousy food and left... 2nd time, ordered the Chicken Shawarma Pita, (TERRIBLE) hoping it wouldn't be so dry, I even got the lemon chicken soup and extra garlic sauce so that if it was dry, I could at least dip it into the soup and try to eat it. NO WAY, the pita bread was dry, and I couldn't even bite through it, not even after dipping it into the soup, the Pita was stale and dry. SO disappointing, I really wish this place had fresh- good food... no way ... I cannot tell anyone to go there and eat, so don't waste your time or money. a mystery as to HOW this place stays open???? I know... because up here in the North part of Peoria, there isn't much to choose from, so restaurants, most of them get away with bad service and bad food because there is no competition... Not too many good food finds in Peoria (according to my Yelp) that I would like to but I love Mediterranean food so thought I'd stop in to Greek Palace for a quick lunch carry out. I ordered a chicken pita with lentil soup and it was good. The chicken pita could use more sauce but the chicken and flavor was really good! The lentil soup was surprisingly good too, for some reason when I buy lentil soup on this side of the country, it is not nearly as delicious as in Metro Detroit (lots of DELICIOUS Middle Eastern foods) however, this lentil soup was definitely the best I've had in a while. read more

While in town for a couple of days, we stopped in at the Greek Palace. The service was very friendly, and the restaurant was spacious. We started with the saganaki because who can resist sizzling hot cheese? It was good, but not as good as I hoped. We also had the hummus and chips. Our entrees came with soup, and it was pretty good, but we didn't want to fill up on the soup. The entrees came with a lot of food. Everything on my gyro plate was yummy. My son enjoyed his combo platter with beef and chicken shawarma. It also had beef kefta, and he liked it ok. Overall a good Greek meal. read more

Mixed experience at Greek Palace. The food itself was excellent--the lamb shank and moussaka were both delicious, and our initial table service was very good. However, the experience was completely ruined by the manager who handled our checkout (the receipt says Eric, though that may have been our original server). ​The manager was incredibly rude and aggressive from the moment he brought the bill, snapping when we asked to handle the payment machine. He was clearly trying to rush us out the door by 8:00 PM, despite the restaurant not closing until 8.30PM. To top it off, as we were leaving, he made an incredibly uncalled-for and insulting comment telling us to "be careful driving since you girls had so much to drink." We had exactly one drink each. ​It is a shame because the kitchen does great work, but the manager's hostile attitude and disrespectful behavior ensured that we will never return. Space was nicely decorated, spacious. Not too busy. Staff was attentive and nice. They were patient with my special needs son. Food was timely. We had the hummus sampler appetizer. Pita was hot and fresh and fluffy. Hummus was delicious. The jalapeño flavor surprised me. My boyfriend ordered some lemon soup he said was not the best only because the texture was very thin watery. All of the food came out in large portions. Very filling very delicious great flavors. The only thing I didn't completely like was the rice. I just felt like it could've had more flavor. Normally a great spot Tonight I'm sad to give them 2-stars but the wait staff was too busy talking at the bar to see me walk in for my pick up order. After a quick drive home I was quickly disappointed with the only 3 pitas for my order of hummus even though I order 2 extra sides of pita so I guess you only get 1 pita with hummus now as a standard. I mean I get that times are tough but I paid for extra. My family and I LOVE this place. We make special trips from surprise to come here. I did get super excited and forget to take pics of the food but, I got tons of pics of the place! James is always there to make you laugh, bring you good food, and make you laugh some more. The place is super spacious and we never feel like we're sitting on top of the table next to us. Met up with a friend for lunch. Because we both have food allergies I was excited to try their Gluten Free pita. However because of dairy allergies that I let the server know, the pita came out smothered in tziziki sauce (yougurt). I ordered the chicken pita which was flavorful, however there were only 3 pieces along with a mishmash of unevenly cut lettuce and veggies. I know it's Phoenix. But the restaraunt was freezing cold. Walked in and it is well decorated, lit, spaced, and a great environment. Food was good and our 19-year-old waiter was excellent. My friend and I were having a nice night and when the credit card machine was brought over, my friend said, "I'll take that" -meaning she would pay the whole bills - he got very hostile and aggressive and said "NO YOU WON"T. We don't just hand these out!!!" When we tried to explain what she was saying, he continued to be very hostile for no apparent reason. When she asked for a receipt, she got more attitude. Since our server had already left (I had cash ready to give him), she didn't leave a tip because we didn't trust him to give it to our server and he had been obnoxious. As we were leaving, my friend said, "don't take things so seriously, have a good night" and he responded, "yeah. You drive home safely with all you had to drink!" She had 2 drinks and since he was serving her, if she had been drunk (she was not), he would have been liable. I have no idea where his hostility came from but we won't be going back now. The prices are very high compared to the other Greek Restaurants in the area. It was $24.99 vs $18.99 at the other restaurants. The other restaurants had equal portions and the food quality was equal and sometimes better. The other place was closed on Sundays so we decided to go and spend $120 at the Greek Palace. There are a lot of Greek restaurants out there, but this one definitely takes the cake for making you part of their family! To put it in perspective, our waiter/bartender when asked which of the soups to order told us that one was made by his mom and the other by his father was it was a difficult choice to tell us which was better. We just about died! My friend ordered the chicken lemon rice soup, which was so comforting and tasty, I'm sure regardless of which soup we ordered, it would've been amazing! The past three times I've come here, I've always ordered the combo plate so I could have both lamb kabobs and the chicken shawarma. It comes with veggies and yellow rice and a side salad or soup. I could probably eat the garlic tzatziki sauce by the buckets here. I've always loved regular tzatziki sauce but this garlic one is soOoOo good! I always get some to go and put it on everything. I don't care. Judge me! But once you taste it, you'll understand! The cocktails here are good. I seldom have drinks other than wine and beer at Greek restaurants, so it was nice to have the option of cocktails too. We finished off dinner with tiramisu dessert and a Turkish coffee. We were catching up with old friends (over a decade of knowing each other), and lost track of time (which is completely our fault), but they didn't want to rush us even though they were close to closing last night and they just made us feel so welcome. The whole family did! I love having this place as an option close to where we live. Mediterranean food just sits so well for me compared to eating at all the surrounding chain restaurants nearby, which have a ton of food preservatives. This place was recommended to me, and I love Greek food so I was excited! First time here and the place was pretty and the server was quick to greet and seat me. I ordered the combination platter supreme. 3 meats, steak kabob, kefta and chicken shawarma. The kefta was delicious! The beef kabob was super tough and the chicken shawarma could not have been drier. Plus, 90% of my plate was rice. The rice was good and the tzatziki was good, I appreciate that. I ordered the baklava, it was tasty. I did tell the server about the chicken, because I couldn't eat it. I chewed the beef kabob for a solid 10 minutes before I could swallow it. She acknowledged that they do have to cook it all day and it can dry out, it's something they get a lot of complaints about. I appreciate her acknowledging that, but then handed me the handheld device to pay, no apology or discount. Considering I didn't eat 1/2 the plate, you would've thought she would. If I was taken care of appropriately, this would have been a different review, but instead it's a disappointment.
