I'm very disappointed in their group policy. I really wanted to celebrate my birthday at Carnicero. We celebrated a dear friend's birthday there last year & it was 17 people. Everything went smooth & all was great. I called to make a reservation for 18 people a few days ago & I was told by the manager that a group that size would have to pay for a special menu & it would cost $60 PER PERSON. That's insanely expensive!! I asked for an exception as a repeat customer & I was told no. This morning I got a text to confirm 18. I had to change to a different restaurant last minute for fear that my guest would be charged $60 per person. I'm so pissed & disappointed bc I really wanted to eat there on my birthday. BEWARE if you are going there with a group. Food is great but not worth $60 per person with a limited menu plus 18% service charge not including a tip. read more

The food was delicious, the steak I got was a true medium rare, and I'd say the only complaint I'd have is our server was very inattentive, granted we were a table of 12 so I understand it's a lot but they did not take reservations and they were still willing to accommodate us which was nice, but we've gotten better/more attentive service elsewhere. read more

Had an excellent experience here. I was scared because was worried it would be too loud and gaudy. We sat bye the windows in the back and it actually cancelled a lot of the noise from the inside part it was really enjoyable and bright. We started with the bread, wagyu carpaccio, and shrimp al ajillo. The bread was average, nothing crazy. The carpaccio was actually very good and came with a good amount. The shrimp was very limey and garlicky. My churrasco was delicious, somewhat raw. We also ordered the NY strip and filet mignon. The ny strip came pretty well done when it was supposed to be medium but still was good. A really fun and delicious way to end the meal was the piña dessert! It's Catalan crema with ice cream on the bottom (dig deep!). It comes in a fun dish with nitrogen ice. Just be careful you or the kids don't touch the inside. I can see this being a safety hazard. Wanted to come here for a while after a friend recommend it. The place looks intimidating and focuses on good dining and enjoyable time. Nonetheless the hype is not that good. The menu is priced to medium and high. Everything in the menu has a price. Few starter dishes looked good and I tried the Tamal which was pretty good. We were seated right away and the waitress took a minute to minute but eventually came. The atmosphere was loud at time and conversation was happening at every table with a few birthday celebrations around. The food was good but a but dry in the sense of taste. The chicken had a little extra salt. While the water was brought at the beginning it was not refilled until we almost finished the food. I had ordered a Pellegrino and the iced completly melted before I had asked for more. The one thing that may catch you off guard is the statement that the tip (18%) was already included -: any further will go directly to the server. Service was average and not to my expectations. The other servers and wait staff were cordial and professional, yet there was a lack of genuine connection to feel welcomed. The rest-rooms were clean and accessible. Went to Carnicero on 117th Ave. and 73rd St. when I got there, there were already people waiting outside, but the waiting time was about 15 to 30 minutes, which is not bad. It went by fast. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the filet mignon and the roasted potatoes with rosemary and manchego cheese. It was to die for ! The appetizers were also delicious. We had the ham croquettes and the Malanga fritters both were very tasty. I had a cocktail that was made of fig, which I don't recall the name, but it was also delightful.I cannot stress enough how good the food and dessert were. The service was also outstanding from the host to all the waiters and staff. The place is decorated in a casual yet elegant style. The ambience was very nice. The only negative thing I can say is that it was a little bit loud. The restaurant was crowded so between the noise of the people and the music. We tried the tamal en hoja, pan con bistec, and pichña with fries, and everything was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The chimichurri sauce can go on anything. It was sooooo good! You can tell they use great ingredients and really care about what they serve. For dessert, we had the Chocolate Lovers, a rich chocolate mousse with white chocolate ice cream and hazelnut crumbs, to die for! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was exceptional. Our server Rene was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. I had the most wonderful experience at this restaurant! From the start the host seated us rapidly and very sweet. We were there on a Friday evening and the place was pretty full. As I was seated, (my hubby was parking) quickly the water came and our waitress soon asked if I had someone else coming. I said yes just waiting for my husband. As soon as he arrived the waitress came and took our drink order and if we wanted an appetizer. I had a red sangria which was expertly prepared and we had the bread with butter and a pineapple jam! Now that was so delicious! The bread was toasted and so soft in the middle and the pineapple jam was very flavorful! Next we ordered the Churrasco meat with chimichurri sauce and maduros (sweet plantains) & I had the Chicken breast with moros & tostones (smashed green plantains) Wow! Everything was delicious and just cooked to perfection! The service was spectacular! Always filling up our water and asking if everything was good. The ambience of the restaurant has a great vibe! The restaurant has plenty of tables and enough room where you don't feel cramped in your seat. The decorative dining area is something unique with a huge chandelier type lamp right in the middle. There was such a hype about this place and Honestly, extremely underwhelming. My husband got food poisoning and we didn't even eat all of any of the things we ordered. I wish I would have taken pictures. Let's start with truffle fries, cheap frozen fries drenched in salt and oil. Not even sure it tasted like truffle oil. Garbanzo Fritos were lukewarm at best and tomato sauce was iffy. We think that was the culprit of the FP. Croquettes, the inside (el relleno ) ham was good but the breading and oil taste killed it. The sides, hmmm what can I say same problem lukewarm, oily, tostones, moros tasted like refrigerator and again not hot. The yuca fries could have been good if they were hot and had no oil after taste. Now for the churrasco, good quality meat, very soft but, yes there's a but, I expect a steakhouse to have there temps on point. Ordered med , got rare, beef tartare ( because they slice it for you very thin) which was perfect with our cold sides. The steak was tasteless and chimi on the side was straight parsley and oil. Oh, almost forgot , wine bottles everywhere, no Pinot Grigio! Fine, I know, "steakhouse , red wine" They do claim to be fisherman in the menu , so get better whit wines the Albariño tasted like sour grape juice.
