Terrible experience. I had a 24h test-drive confirmed at this location by two separate people that I talked to when setting up the appointment, as well as a text confirmation (I wanted to make sure beforehand, since I live 1.5 hours from the location and not all vehicles are available for this test drive). I got to the location, was checked in, and then told that they don't do the test drive for the vehicle I had reserved as the car "doesn't qualify", even though they specifically told me before that the vehicle is available for the test drive. An absolute waste of time - they do not stand by anything they tell you. read more

Went there with an appointment & preliminary appraisal. Refused to honor the appointment by saying " We are backed up & hence cannot do any appraisal". They didn't even bother to apologize forget about informing in advance though they had my email & phone number. read more

On Monday, took my 2008 Infiniti there to sell. I had checked online sites a few months ago, they suggested $3800 for a "perfect" car. Mine had a significant dent to the front of the car, and a damaged passenger side mirror. On the plus side, it was low mileage - 101K for a 15 year old car. They offered $3000, which I thought was fair. The mechanics of the transfer were well organized and efficient. I was very happy with the sale read more

Great service and large selection, Irina the sales manager is professional and upholds her word! Got a good deal at the end of the day

Look if you want a no hassle best dealer experience Look no further than CarMax I just went online filed out a simple form made a appointment within 10 min of arriving they handed me a check and I was done not only did they beat several dealers offers on my 2022 truck they made the sale just too easy if you don't want to deal with strangers and all the bs with selling your car give carmaxx a try shit now I might just buy my new car from them because of the excellent service and treatment they provided thank you ! read more

Wait where did 45 minutes to test drive a car then when we met with the associate Isaiah he said we're in crunch time unless you're buying a car you cannot test drive a car. Hey all, just wanted to shine some light on the Irvine CarMax location. Stellar service and just a great group of people who are really trying to get you in and out with what you want. I had researched a few options for a midsized hybrid vehicle before choosing this location to scout out further. I had narrowed it down to two and made a reservation to come in and test drive them. Easily made the reservation and was about to test drive them back to back! After checking in, I waited maybe 5-10 minutes and was seen. Love their efficiency and their ability to handle the volume of customers at the hour - we came in on a weekend in the evening. The location is tucked away off of Research but easily spotted with the iconic signage facing the street. Lots and lots of parking was available for customers. Inside was spacious and had lots of amenities for those waiting. There were various vending machines as well as plenty of seating. Clean clean clean! I feel like a space this big could easily get dirty quickly, but it seems like they're very on top of this. I purchased a midsized vehicle about a month ago and have had the *opportunity* to work with sales associates and the service department. Jana was a pleasure to be able to work with in seeing my vehicle and made me and my partner feel so welcomed. 10/10 would recommend her! Shout out to Jose in the service department for being such a good communicator and keeping me in the loop about services being done to my car! 10/10 for Jose! Overall, really great experience here and big recommendation to this location as a whole. Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time to expedite your wait and get you in and out and onto the rest of your activities. Great job, Irvine CarMax! Great job, Jana and Jose! read more

By far the best location and experience I have had in any other CarMax, maybe because the sales person made a really big difference. Very patient and very honest. Though he was a new sales person and learning (which he mentioned from the very beginning) it was a great experience overall! Will never buy from Carmax again. 1. Reserved a car; Audi Q3. Miles were listed wrong and they wouldn't adjust the price. And it took me Six hours to buy the car. I stayed calm and had patience. 2. POOR SERVICE. Windshield had damage (deep scratches and a crack/chip) and they promised to fix it. WAITED FOUR HOURS for the Service department to tell me scratches are up to "Carmax standards" and filling the crack with glue leaving a nasty mark on the windshield is also "Carmax standards" 3. Service department damaged my door handle. I brought it up to the heartless and lazy serive manager and she proclaimed the car came like that. I said how do you know? You didn't even bother to go look / go back and ASK what happen?! Pictures taken THE DAY BEFORE DID NOT HAVE DAMAGE. Then cheaply fixed. 4. I've called for the store manager...no call back / or help. I will never buy from Carmax. car is only slightly cheaper here and they make it off the back end with CRAP SERVICE read more

We have bought 2 cars from this dealership in the past. My son purchased an Audi A4 in beginning of December. They were happy to take his down payment and get him into a loan with 29 percent interest rate. Didn't double check that he had a small part time job and couldn't afford it. 1 week later he was hospitalized in a psych hospital for the past month. He was not in his right mind and they took advantage of him. Returned car tonight and asked 3 sales managers for help to get his down payment back..they said that General manager refused and it was only for special circumstances. In my opinion going to a mental hospital is a special circumstance instead of ripping off a college student 4700.00. Do not buy a car here...they discriminate against mentally ill and take advantage. Terrible experience. read more

The first car thay sold us had an undisclosed accident. Their expnanation was that "since no frame damage had resulted from that accident, they didnt report it". Not having learned a lesson, we attempted six moths later to purchase another vehicle. This time we toook the vehicle, a 2018 Mini Countryman, to the dealer to have a pre purchase inspection done. Needless to say, there were thousands of dollars in repairs needed including many of the things they'd checked off on like brakes or a bumper that had been glued back on temporarily. My biggest complaint and reason for this review is that even when confronted with the documentation, they just took the car back in and without even so much as an apology or looking at it, put it back on the lot and sold it to some poor unsuspecting person. read more

You need to sell your car, but listing on Facebook Market place, Craigslist, and other websites is a hassle. You gotta deal with low ballers, weird types, scammers, and did I mention weird types? Carmax. Where you're only going to deal with a single Low Baller. Look, they don't offer you TOP dollar on your vehicle, because they have to turn a profit. What they do offer you is close to fair market value, based on inventory and demand. This is really a no haggle situation, so you're either ready to let go, or you're better off dealing with those weird types. Came here on a Friday with my online quote. Quick inspection (even though they got many things wrong) came back with a appraisal that was the same that was given to me online, so I wasn't ready to fight anything. Line was backed up, so I came back Saturday right when they opened. Waited about 40 minutes, got my car to a test driver, and then Daisy helped me sign my papers and cut my check. In and out in about 1.25 hours. Couldn't complain. They got an army working at this huge lot, so it seems like whatever you need done, they can streamline you in the right direction. The sales associate who helped me, Daisy, was mad pretty too. Man, if any of ya'll work at CarMax and if she single, pass this message on to her. She'll have to pick me up though because I just sold them my car. Daaaaaiiisssyy!!! read more

We had gone in to test drive a few vehicles with no intentions on buying from this particular establishment. It was a busy day there and we were fortunately blessed with Senior Sales Consultant, Jana Cantrell, which was a true blessing in disguise. She was beyond helpful and has a personality that is such a breath of fresh air! She went above and beyond to meet and exceed all of our needs and expectations. We had been looking at vehicles for a month or so at this point and her knowledge and insight into what we needed out of our next vehicle purchase was what really put it over the top and helped us make the final decision on what we wanted. We got an amazing Mazda3 Hatch at an unbelievable value, $5-$7000 below any other dealer in a 500 mile radius! We got a more than fair value on our trade in as well! The whole process was smooth and seamless. We will definitely be returning customers of Jana and CarMax! read more

This is a good place to sell your car. We brought in our car, got it assessed, ok'd the offer and completed the paperwork all within 1.5 hours. We recently bought a Jeep Wrangler from CarMax. The Sales department was very nice and helpful but everything else has been a disaster! They told us they would be "detailing" the car before we got it home and it looked pretty clean but when we got home we found trash and food under the seats. On the drive home we pulled down the visors and the both fell off. We also noticed chips in the windshield. They assured us it would be no problem and because we had the extra warranty they would fix it all for free. Well, that has not been the case! I am tired from arguing with the service department! They gave us the run around and now the 90 days is over so we are out of luck!!! read more

Let me start off by saying that I realize that I am buying from a used car lot, however, I can still be picky about spending a lot of money ,,, and c'mon I'm making a huge legal commitment people! We have purchased from CarMax Irvine in the past. Our previous car, our daughters car, and our sons car. We were 100% happy with our Ford Fusion until my husband was hit on the freeway and the car was totaled. We came back and that's when we met Patrick. Patrick is heaven sent I swear! When it came to customer service he went over and beyond. His ability to listen closely to what our needs and wants as a family were, was awesome. We chose a car and then found there were a few issues and decided to bring it back since CarMax has that amazing 30 day policy. Patrick helped us look at several vehicles. Each time with patience and solutions to each mine and my husbands concerns. Finally, 5 days shy of our 30 days and I think 3 vehicle transfers from other cities later, we were the last people there (after his shift mind you) with Patrick finishing the paperwork on our new baby. We woke up this morning so grateful for Patrick. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Patrick and CarMax Irvine! Oh, and Patrick if you are reading this I'll be by soon with a pretty little outfit for that little princess who's on the way! read more

I was one of the unlucky and obviously unintelligent few who purchased the extended warranty through carmax. First it takes 2 weeks to get an appointment. Then the car goes sits there a week because they are supposedly getting the job approved by insurance. They don't give you a loaner. They'll give you a rental if job is approved to be covered even if it says that it is covered. Useless incompetent repair service reps. Run for the hills people. read more

I was shopping online for a car in May 2020 happened to find a really nice 2018 Nissan Rogue SL that said it had 27k miles I showed up for my appt and followed the Covid rules - wore my mask but the salesman who assisted me only had his covering his mouth, I have bad asthma but I never wear my mask that way . Ok he went to go get my beautiful car for me to test drive and pulled up with it being filthy - could barley see out of the windows - it smelled so bad inside like an old man died in it . Talk about a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! I still remembered what it had looked like online and he said just take it for a 10 min ride by yourself due to Covid and let me know what you think . I had to roll all the windows down to drive it but I did but what was difficult was coming from a 2004 car that was in perfect shape and like new inside to a smelly car that had all these gadgets inside - blind spot warnings - street line warnings that would sound - I am trying to do a test drive in a car I want to buy that I have never been shown any of the wonderful safety features or navigation systems before getting in . Turns out I pulled over messed around with a few things - knew it was a Certified car - knew if I bought it I had a 3 day return policy - what I did notice was the Mileage was 3500 miles higher then stated . I was like that shortens the 1st manufacturer warranty - they said sorry but again no price drop so I was firm on my trade in and got the trade in price so all in all was satisfied with my deal . The entire process took 5 hours and then as a certified car I said I wanted my scratches that the car had fixed . The car is black - had to bring it back for touch up and they touched up with like a black marker . It does not look good . DO NOT LET CARMAX touch up your car paint - they do not do a decent job trust me , you can see the black marker touch up feet away and they left one area on the hood - kind of glad they did. Also the tires Nisan puts on the Rogues are terrible - I had new All Terrain M. Brand these are Faulkin and for being a certified car - two of the tires are bad . I have pictures to show and I have only driven less then 3 k likes just getting due for my oil change . So not happy with the tires they left on . Over all , smooth transaction - but really check the car over - tires - take for inspection within 1-2 days . I do love my car and am happy but praying I get the life I got with my Toyota 16 years . read more

Tried for appraisal on my truck online. Website couldn't provide one (as stated) so CarMax said to bring it in. Checked in and was told the wait would be 45 min. Checked back in with the same sales rep an hour later and acted like we'd never met. Looked my truck up and said it "shouldn't be too much longer." 30 min after that, he called me (even though I was sitting 30 feet from him and he was looking at me) to tell me my truck hand been dropped in the system and no appraisal had been done. No apology, and didn't bat an eye we just wasted two hours. read more

First time here 3 months ago. Inconsistent answers on appraisals between their call center staff and in store staff. Defensive when answering my questions, unprofessional, and just plain Not helpful! If their management allows this, then shame on them. One word, Disrespectful. I went to buy and bought a ~ $90,000 car from this place. The sales guy, Carson treated me as if I was there wasting his time the entire time until I drove the car away. The whole time he treated me as if I wasn't a serious buyer and I wasn't going to buy the car. To a point that he asked me if I had my paycheck with me to pay the down. I actually had to show him so he would continue the process. I had to ask him twice or three times for him to show me if the features in the car were working. Wow... They don't even provide you with some courtesy water. You have to buy your own. But I tell you, Carson was certainly something! he disrespect me by acting as if I couldn't afford the car...Wow!!!!
