Honestly, it's probably two part in what I asked for and booking an apprentice stylist. Wanted long curtain bangs and long layers, cut to just below the collar bone. Got a long bob with, albeit, layers... some of the bangs cut dried and curl into my nose. Again, it's part bad ask and bad haircut. The stylist was working with me and tried to achieve what I was asking for, I just wish there was a bit more conversation about how to achieve what I want. Instead, I was impressed with how the stylist reiterated the hair cut back to me in bullet note like fashion, but it didn't initiate more conversation but instead felt like a: I'm telling you what I'm doing so if you dislike it in the end, it's your fault not mine. Giving 4 stars because I only had the stylist the one time! Don't knock this place until you try it, but this was my experience. I'm posting some reference pics along with my haircut. Hidden gem indeed!! I wanted to fix my hair badly but was so hesitant to try another hair dresser. The reviews here on yelp, and Carlos' Instagram account made me feel confident enough to try him. I contacted him right away hoping that he could see me that same week, which was a holiday week. To my surprise he responded within minutes and said he could open a spot for me on thanksgiving day. Yes, thanksgiving day! I was super excited. The moment I walked into his salon, I knew I was in good hands. He took a look at my hair, at the inspiration pictures I showed him, and he knew exactly what needed to be done. He explained the process as well as the products he would use. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the result!!! I was simply speechless. It came out better than I ever thought possible. Thanks to the products Carlos used, my hair is looking healthier than ever!!!! I have wasted so much money going to Newbury street hair salons and leaving unsatisfied. Carlos is so much better than all the places I have tried, and his service is very, very affordable! The hair product collection he offers is worth it too! I am sooo happy I found Carlos. I will be his client forever now :) read more

Carlos is truly an artist when it comes to hair. I needed a color correction along with a "real" balayage and he totally delivered. I went somewhere else that unfortunately left my hair with a brassy caramel balayage as the "in between" phase before going blonde. I was extremely dissapointed and did not want to take the chance with another session. Instead I found Carlos via Instagram and was amazed by his work. Scheduling an appointment is ridiculously easy. He's extremely responsive with text, and took the time to look at the photos I sent for inspiration and confirm that we could do that in a single session. His studio is impeccable. He is a great resource for any hair related question. He really took his time to listen to what I wanted. The end result was a beautiful blonde balayage with a perfect blend at the roots and subtle low lights throughout my hair. It came out better than I ever imagined. Check out his Instagram for more hair inspiration and know you will be in good hands! Thank you, Carlos! read more

I had my first appointment at Studio Salon with Kristina and I am so happy! I am new to the area and found the salon on Instagram. I was impressed with their work, especially their color and extensions work. I originally came in for a consult for hair lightening and hair extensions. Everyone was very friendly. Kristina was great about breaking down all of the services and different options and I booked my appointment. I decided to just do my color, cut, and treatment for now, as I had just moved, and decided for me financially, extensions could wait. Kristina was understanding and I booked my appointment for the next week. My hair has never looked or felt better! She is meticulous with her work. She saw I was yawning and made me a delicious coffee. Also, I love the location. The big windows let in a ton of natural light, and the people watching was great. I highly recommend studio salon for anyone in the area, and can't wait to come back! read more

Let me preface this review by telling you how awful my hair was prior to meeting with Carlos. I am close to my wedding day mid-August and I had gone to a previous stylist to get my hair extensions. My hair was two tones (light at the top dark in the bottom) and it stayed this way because I couldn't find anyone who I felt confident would do the work properly. Until I found Carlos. And what a blessing it was. Not only did correct the way the layers of hair extension to give me a well-rounded distribution of hair but he also consulted thoroughly with what I could expect for color and finally cut my hair. Go to his instagram page so you can see the before and after, there is a starking difference. His work is amazing and his personality makes it even better. read more

She answered my many questions, often demonstrating how to do something on her own hair to make sure that I understood. Because I was a first-time client, she did the color in a separate session before the extensions so she could see how the color looked in my hair to make sure the extensions she was going to order matched perfectly. Even after JUST the color, my hair looked great. The next session was for the extensions and cut. It takes quite a while to do the extensions, but I was able to get work done on my laptop (they gave me a lap desk to use) during some of the time. Kriscia is amazing about explaining things and setting expectations, double checking that I understood how much she was cutting off the length and things like that. Hair extensions require more work to take care of, and Kriscia explained all the details on how to do that. At the end, my hair looked absolutely amazing! It looks completely natural and beautiful!
