One of my go to spots in the neighborhood while I was living in Trastevere. Cheap, fast and delicious. 8 euro house wine and any of the pastas (especially gnocci) are your best bet, although everything I've ever ordered is great. Sit outside, watch the city go by and enjoy a fantastic meal. Don't let the (sometimes) poor service lead you to believe you need to leave as quickly as the food comes out. This place was packed so we decided to stop in. The steak which was 14 euros was delicious and a large portion, the lamb good, but the bone was splintered off in a lot of pieces so be careful. The lasagna which was only 7$ was alright, definitely not my favorite in Italy thouhh. Waiters were attentive and nice. The tiramasu was delicious but also not the best we've ever had. This cheap priced restaurants turns out to be a scam! The manager (or who claims himself to be) is a cheater. When he brought our bill and showed us in a very rushy way, he stressed that tips are not included. Then he took away the receipt and came back with our 4 euros change, he put the money on our table and asked "are these tips for me?" His tone sounded he wanted it very much. So we gave him the 4 euros and asked for the receipt. When we looked carefully, service charge of 1.5 euro per person is listed there. We felt cheated and decided to confront him. He told us that service charge is not tips. This is quite ridiculous as this is our last second day of Italy trip. We never heard of that! Nevertheless, we decided not to argue further and left. There is no one to complain this about coz we asked for manager and the waiter (bald headed old guy) who cheated us showed up. Yes the price is good and the food is so so. It was very cheap and very filling. Their seafood gnocchi is sooooooo good, when I studied abroad in Rome, I ate there every Thursday, because that is when they made fresh gnocchi. Some other things I liked were their artichoke dishes, as well as their desserts. I would highly recommend it if you are traveling on a budget and you want a large multi-course meal. However, if you are looking for an upscale or a restaurant where everything is a guaranteed delicious dish I would look elsewhere (their food is very good, but there were a few things that were mediocre on the menu). Cheap but the dishes are a bit small for our taste ( it was the first time ever that my wife ate 2 dishes in one lunch) The best part I think are the pizzas as they are cheap, tasty, crispy and with great tomato sauce. The food here is good especially for the price. If you're looking for exceptional Italian cuisine, this isn't it, but the portions are large enough and the bread is delicious. Where can you get a 4 course lunch for 10 euros and dinner for 13? We ordered off the a la Carte menu for dinner chicken and salad 5 euros. I wouldn't get the fish though, not great. Super cheap Pizza, and a great location! They have a margharetta pizza for 3 euro, and most pizzas aren't above 5 euro! And they are huge, two people can share a pizza most definitely. Tasty, too! Tourist Trap and Cheap. I ate here twice because of the cheap food, and I'm on a budget. But you get what you pay for. The pasta is not made fresh and the sauce doesn't have too much taste. I tried the Bucatini Amatriciana (although on the menu they said Spaghetti Amatriciana) the second time and was not a fan. The first time I had cacio e pepe-- it passes, but barely. Best cacio e pepe probably at Roma Sparita which is around the area. The first time I tried the wine and it was not bad, but it's certainly surprisingly expensive given that other trattorias give house wine for 5 euro. The waiters were all fine-- just overworked and tired! We were ushered into a room down some flights of stairs and near the back. Every room was crowded with groups of tourists. Go here if you want cheap food in all senses, and don't mind loud crowds. It's perfect for students on a budget and with large crowds. But do not expect much interaction or eating the Italian way--- feels like a cafeteria dining hall. Also, if you go on a weekend night, you will get lots of groups of people who are in Trastevere for the bars and clubs afterwards, so it can be a rowdy crowd. This place also claims to be a restaurant, but in Italy there are very specific delineations of what counts as a trattoria vs. osteria vs. ristorante and this place cannot be both a restaurant and have the cheapest food around in Trastevere. Not to mention quality. Finally this place advertises waiter service non-stop and air conditioning inside-- it caters to tourists. If you don't mind that, you will have a decent meal that is cheap. But if you are in Trastevere might as well try to find a really delicious place. read more
