What a gem! I ordered a chicken breast kabob and sarma from here. My chicken kabob was juicy, well-spiced, and didn't have any issues with texture (some places can really mess up chicken somehow). The plate had a grilled tomato and pepper which were delightful upon biting into. The hummus I got was great as well. My stuffed grape leaves were good. They had that citrus bite without having a lemon to squeeze on them. The rice was cooked properly inside, and the seasonings inside were on point. We came on a Saturday afternoon and there was two tables available, this place is a bit small so don't recommend for large parties. The portions are huge with such an affordable price. Even though I am not a hummus kind of girl it completely surprised me how good it was and got me addicted. I vacillate between this place and Cafe Bravo. I have yet to be disappointed thus far with any of their lunch specials (I've tried about half the choices). Everything has been cooked perfectly (no dry, overcooked meats yet) and the taste is good. I haven't tried chicken a second time yet to confirm, but so far it seems the meat and pork are better choices. What I like about dining here over Cafe Bravo: - no long lines - cheaper lunch specials (reasonable prices!) - choice of fries with your entree if you don't want rice or salad - online ordering! While everyone is flocking to Cafe Bravo across the street and making it crowded, I've been very happy with Caravan. If you want kebab, this is the place to go. Tender, juicy, and very flavorful. What more do you want? For lunch you get kebab, delicious rice, hummus and bread, and a grilled pepper and tomato. The price was under $10, too. Used a restaurant.com certificate here last night with my wife. I had a $25 certificate with a minimum total spent of $40.00 worth. So we ordered 3 main dishes (beef shish kabob, gyro plate, chicken thigh kabob) and a large side of hummus. With one can of pepsi, we hit $40.00. The bill ended up being about $26.00 with an 18% gratuity (a mandatory tip from using the certificate) and tax included. On to the food: It was really quite good. I've had Mediterranean food from several restaurants in the area and this was up with at the top. Every dish was tasty, fresh and served in generous portions. The hummus was creamy and a bit too lemony for my taste. The chicken and beef were cooked excellent, tender and juicy. It's hard to define what separates ordinary shish kabob plates from mediocre shish kabob plates. All the plates look similar from restaurant to restaurant, but the quality varies. The restaurant interior is plain and uninteresting. However, I would absolutely come back here for the food and for the certificate deal. read more

My son and I stopped in last week as he found Caravan on Yelp in his search for craving for Mediterranean food. I was thinking it would be a quick stop for wraps, but in looking at the menu, he ordered the Lamb chops dinner plate (not the same price as wrap :), and I ordered the same for my husband. I ordered the chicken luleh wrap for my daughter and hummus. Given that we were past the quick to go order budget of my intended stop, I didn't order for myself. While we waited for our order, we had the chance to chat with the owner and staff who could not have been more pleasant and lovely. She was so kind and added the baba gannuj to our bag which I had been admiring on the menu free of charge as a treat. Let me tell you the food was beyond amazing. My whole family raved about the lamb dinner, my very picky daughter devoured her luleh, and the baba gannaj was so light and fluffy. On my second visit here, I had an unpleasant experience. I walked into the restaurant and was immediately repelled by the cigarette smoke of a customer who was finishing his meal. I asked the staff person if they allowed smoking there. She said she herself didn't smoke. I pointed to their customer and said :but he is smoking in your restaurant and that is illegal." We needed a small place for my husband's birthday that accommodated 20 guests. At first it doesn't seem like a place that you would do a birthday but it turned out great and it was exactly what we wanted. We reserved the place a month in advance and the owner sat down with us and explained the pricing and the food options. The only recommendation I would give is that they get a menu for events, rather then scribbling the food options on a paper. The owner allowed us to bring our own lighting and equipment to the restaurant which was very nice. We asked for a long table set up so that there would be room for us to dance. The day of the event, he really made sure we were satisfied and went above and beyond what was expected. The food: Amazing! Everyone said how good everything tasted. The waitress was very friendly and overall I would recommend this place to everyone that is wanting to do a small event. The area around Caravan is packed with all tons of restaurants and fast food joints. There's Carl's Jr, Jack-in-the-box, KFC, etc. I usually spend 10+ bucks for a good meal on just fast food alone. Instead of paying 10 dollars for unhealthy, processed food- why not just pay the same amount and order food at Caravan. You get real food, plus it's a thousand times more delicious as well. My favorite is Luleh but the Kebab is just as amazing! The owner is a really great guy and you get amazing service. I can't confidently say that I know what all this food is *supposed* to taste like, but that aside, let's make this about the most basic question - yummy or not yummy? - Matabbal-baba gannuj: a lot creamier than I expected, almost yogurt-y. Light flavor. Not bad, but not enticing enough to get again. - Home style pickles: recommended by my half-Armenian friend. Tart and refreshing, but kind of dried out like they had been hanging around for a while. - Luleh kebab: mmmm flavorful ground beef. I really enjoyed the neat, but the rice it came with was somewhat dry. - Chicken luleh: interestingly with a hint of citrus, like lemon and orange. Decent. - Beef shish kebab: very juicy with great flavor, and I was impressed by how tender it was. - Gyro: much more moist and herbaceous than other gyros I've had, and it was sauteed with onions. I enjoyed them, but my husband preferred the heartier/drier gyros we've had elsewhere. Service was decent, pleasant but not particularly quick or enthusiastic. I'd definitely consider coming back here if I'm in the area and craving some meat on the flame, but there are so many other places to check out! read more

My 3 sisters and I decided to visit this restaurant after purchasing their $25 dollar off certificate on Restaurant.com. We were a bit sketchy about dining here because it was empty when we arrived. The food was great, my chicken breast was a bit dry but still delish! At the end, I presented the $25off certificate to her and she was SUPPERR BITTTER. I felt an attitude change immediately and the service afterwards was horrible. Mean stares and grumpy responses. I understand that it sucks for her to charge us $25 less but if she wasn't happy with that, she should cancel her deal with restaurant.com. It was soooooo delicious!!! It was all fresh chicken breast and tasted just like spicy wings but much healthier and chicken breast!!! We came here wanting some gyros to go and although the cashier assured us it would take about 10-15 minutes tops, we waited for 35 minutes awkwardly standing in the tiny restaurant. The lady who took our order was incredibly rude. She was very short with us and almost seemed annoyed when we asked her to fill up our tumblers with water that we had brought with us. I thought they'd be a bit nicer about us providing our own drink containers but when i asked she just looked at us and went to the back without saying anything and got a pitcher. To top it off, the table of people next to us who had arrived ten minutes after us got some of their food before we got ours. It's my home & my kitchen away from home for the past 4 years. Not only all meat are seasoned &/or marinated properly, but are cooked to perfection. By far the best kabob house in tri-city ... Side dishes are simply delicious no matter which tickles your fancy, and the rice is just like Grand-Ma used to make (don't forget butter on it) ... Healthy salads are another story, next time you're there ask Armine to make you "Yervanian" salad (It's not on the menu) Not that I ever look at menus. Just tell her what you feel like having, and she'll arrange it. I just had to see what the negative reviews were, boy are they full of crap. This isn't McD's drive through, or Panda Express you know, it's a restaurant, there are no precooked stuff here (Except dolma/Sarma & stuff). Most kabobs need up to 15 minutes or so on the flame, so don't get your pantyhose tangled up if your food is not on the table before you sit down. Every time I go there (including today), I see familiar faces, which is the best indicator of customer satisfaction, just read the reviews below, see for yourself how many people use the facility or their service continuously on weekly basis.
