I had a party of 10 at this place, everyone in my party valets. We go and enjoy our meal (barely) 1. Food is overpriced and dishes are overrated - if u want authentic Mexican food there's plenty of other places to go. 2. Service sucks - it's literally ppl who can't speak English. But who I am to judge. 3. Valet is filled wit morons. So I'm leaving this over priced restaurant and they lost my keys lol who cares right? Valet attendant comes and has the audacity to say "I'm sorry for Inconvenience but we lost ur keys can you come back tomorrow" My initial response is "what the fuck? Overal story is valet lost my keys. Ruined my birthday night for my friend and made me waste money on an Uber not only from there but to come back the next day. I wait 24 hours plus for my keys yes I'll give credit - they gave me a free bullshit Sunday buffet meal to me and two other ppl. I waited two hours for my keys to show up. Joshua was barely pleasing and the other GM was nowhere to be found during all my issues. Long story short is if u want over priced Tex mex food. Go somewhere else. Pros: delicious food. Free parking. Con: waiter sucked and brought out the wrong orders, forgot my drink order, etc. We ate until we couldn't eat any more. We came for restaurant week and got more than we bargained for. Happy hour on top of a full meal was very filling and we came back with leftovers. Just check out the photos. Service similar to what you would receive at a steakhouse. Ok onto the food itself. It's a very limited buffet, here's a few of the items: 1. Oysters 2. Some kind of scallops 3. 3 kinds of tamales 4. Interior decor is very nice and fancy, great ambiance. We truly enjoyed every single dish we ordered: The wood-grilled butterflied fish is so perfectly cooked: buttery, tender and flavorful. Great portion too. The oysters were great to share! And the Mariscos al Ajillo is very uniquely seasoned with everything in there: scallops, frog legs, lobster, abalone, clams, mussels, octopus, shrimp etc. The only reason I'm not giving them a 5 star is the service. It started out really good, but then it went down gradually as our server found out we weren't going to order drinks and desserts, and the attitude was very obvious. (4/5): OSTIONES EN SU CONCHA: Dozen raw oysters. Fresh and nice size. Decent priced during happy hour. (3/5): OSTIONES ASADOS: Half dozen cooked oysters. Very sweet of the manager to send this to our table since it was some of our first time here. Our table commented that it has an Italian/pasta taste to it? Not sure what is on top. I believe it could have been breadcrumbs which would explain the flavor. (3/5): SOPA DE CHILE POBLANO: Roasted poblano soup. Nothing too special. Used tortilla chips to dip in. The tortilla chips were great. Multicolored corn chips that were thick and crunchy. Made the soup better. (5/5): COSTILLAS A LAS BRAZAS: Surprised how generous the portion was. 3 ribs that were very tender. Nice smoky flavor (4/5): LOMO DE RES: Beef filet was well cooked. Filling entree. The smashed crispy potatoes were soggy but everything else on the plate was good. (3/5): CABALLEROS POBRES: Mexican style french toast. Heavy dessert for an already dense menu. The cherry and orange notes played well. Not a dessert I would get again. The Wine of Mexico menu had the biggest portions. Red meat heavy but very delicous. Great experience. Nice happy hour. The only thing I would say is it felt very basic to have that generic birthday card on the table. For a restaurant of this caliber I expected more, not a free dessert or anything like that. I expected that intimate *touch* that makes it THEE place to go. For example, like telling my friend happybirthday instead of just placing the card on the table. They have everything from multiple options of tamales to seafood on deck! The staff is friendly & the waiting are super attentive. This place is high end so be prepared to bring your wallet. I came here for a work lunch. The valet guys were very nice and helpful. They are free and paid by tips. Inside was very nice. Beautiful outdoor patio that is ideal for brunch. Definitely a see & be seen type of place. Inside is clean & modern, but at this time of year, the patio is perfect. Service is focused on the presentation factor. They make a point of presenting the food in a good way. I went a couple of weeks ago for brunch. I had the fish tacos & a couple of margarita. My friend had the ceviche & a side. The drinks are a little more creative than the typical margaritas in town. The fish tacos were nicely done. The food was absolutely amazing! We got ostiones asados, mariscos Al ajillo, papas martajadas, scallops, and this one other appetizer, it was rice and beans wrapped in banana leaf. The appetizer was such a unique concept and tasted fantastic. Everything tasted so so delicious! We also got the churros and the French toast for desserts. Again, everything was just mouthwatering. It's the perfect date night restaurant. The ambience and music is very romantic and up beat. The one thing my husband and I did not appreciate and the reason for 3 stars is because our waiter literally left for a good 30 min to introduce some guy to two girls sitting at a table across from us. It's inappropriate and unprofessional. As a professional on the job, this should not be allowed especially at a high class restaurant as such. It took almost 20 min for us to get our bill. If you haven't been to Caracol you must come have a meal here. I've always had great experiences whether it was for brunch, lunch, happy hour, of the Sunday brunch buffets. They have a garage you can park at and will validate your ticket which is my preference because the valeted cars are still parked out in the sun. The seafood here is fresh and the dishes they have are amazing. The all you can eat Sunday brunch was a nice experience. I usually always come here for Houston Restaurant Week as well. If you have not tried their ceviches I recommend the snapper with the spicy yellow sauce. Their wood grilled oysters are also a hit and you gotta try their spicy palomas to drink! read more

Hugo Ortega's second-best restaurant (after Xochi) in Houston did not disappoint. The coastal Mexican kitchen has delicious ceviches and crudos. I would check out the Ceviche de Caracol, a conch ceviche accompanied by a sweet-fruit base, and the raw tuna tostadas, a well-crafted bite that removes the fishy flavors of raw tuna (although I don't mind the fishier flavors). The crispy duck leg and the pork shank are accompanied by their respective moles and were both outstanding. The proteins were cooked perfectly while the moles were intricate, delicate, and complementary with the proteins. The vegetables had a perfect roast on them. read more

Came with 3-4 different sauces that were all incredible! Chips are thick but super fresh and crunchy. Then we shared chicken enchiladas and pork flautas. Wow. Very tasty. The journey begins with flavors of seafood such as Tacos de Camaron shrimp tacos with cactus flavored tortillas. Happy hour specials 3 to 7pm are the best with nutella y hamburguesa prime beef hamburger with tasty potatoe wedges. We enjoyed the bar bites the best with trio of quesadillas with calabacita and chicken with mushrooms .But they also offer mini lobster rolls and ceviche with raw striped bass and tuna if you like good seafood . I like that they offer a vegetarian menu which a few of us ordered from.Their white rice with peas was spot on with interesting flavors and their charred brussel sprouts with chimichurri dressing was delectable . I like that they asked if we were celebrating anything when we made reservations and had a special card on the table when we arrived. For dessert they brought a pineapple tres leche that was beautifully decorated. I like the extra details so that goes a long way with me. First Houston restaurant week! Took my grandparents out for a nice lunch and decided on this spot. They have a great selection of different entree choices for their restaurant week - a lot of traditional Mexican dishes with a twist. We started with the hominy soup and watermelon appetizers (only two choices). The soup was pretty small but was fairly tasty. The watermelon app came with pineapple, peppers, etc in a spicy sauce - interesting but probably something I wouldn't get again. For main, I got the duck with cauliflower rice which was delicious! We also got the fish entree as well as the shrimp entree. The fish was just ok but the duck was definitely my favorite. The portions weren't overly heavy but just enough to make you feel satisfied for lunch. We finished with dessert and we got one of each. The churros with chocolate ice cream was great!
