No vacuum seal on the bag Further, the zip seal on the Gesha is faulty, and separated from the bag on one side, making the bag essentially useless. It smells amazing though! Once we brew some, if it tastes amazing I'll update review, but the bag situation is pretty disappointing. Edit: I was wrong on the bags not having one way valves - they're on the back of the bag. My bad on that. However, NO roast dates! I opened the DBD and there is next to no aroma at all. Beans look and smell old. I'll brew some up anyway and see, but I'm not expecting much. Will update again after brewing both beans but at this point I'm tempted to take one star off this review...

The Mexico, roasted coffee beans made a very deep robust, medium rich, slightly bitter, but well balanced, sweetness, and acidity macchiato. I noticed they have different coffees, depending on the season from around the world. Cozy coffee bar, small café, and rad-cool-dope hipster vibe. Winner winner winner. Love the vibe, the music on record playing vinyl "old school" LP 45 - way cool! And the people serving it up "bitchin" were friendly and knowledgeable. Winner winner winner. The shop is situated in an iconic part of NW 21st; it exudes sophisticated and timeless charm. Stepping inside, you see the historical bones of the building laced with modern touches of hip decor and thoughtful design. It's a bit retro and a bit edgy all while being chic, so it's very well aligned with Portland itself. Sit on a live edge bench! Enjoy a marshmallow stick. Stare at the luxurious wallpaper. But don't let these things deter you from the epic coffee experience that awaits you. Subtly smooth, adequately bold and flavors aplenty... all served with a smile. The staff is incredibly friendly. My drink was even delivered my table by the barista! The bathroom is clean and parking is available on the street. They have all the classics and then some. There were aromas of homemade chai permeating the space as I sipped my coffee. This is an experience that can't be boiled down to 'just coffee.' It's not just another errand when you're in NW either. It's the kind of place where a random stranger next to you says aloud that 'this is the best coffee in Portland' as you walk by. And they mean it. One of my favorite coffee experiences of the year so far. It's memorable on many levels, and the atmosphere aligns so well with the vibrancy of our city.
