I saw that there was a coffee roaster called Capitol Press Coffee near where I was staying in my hotel. Looking at their website, there were a couple of coffee beans that I wanted to try. So I navigated there and was a bit confused by the store location. The coffee shop is situated in a industrial business park, though I quickly figured out that they had storefronts too. I found the spot and walked in. I was greeted by Carey, who introduced herself as the owner of Roasted By Mom Coffee. That's when I learned that this space had 3 independent coffee roasters who share the same equipment and store to sell to customers. And the day I went, Carey was there to serve her coffee beans. So I ordered an Iced Vanilla Latte and a black coffee. She didn't have any drip coffee readily available, but she went out of her way to get fresh beans she allowed me to choose to grind and brew a fresh cup for me. Wonderful customer service! I didn't have to wait long for my drinks to be finished. P2 said she enjoyed hers and I thought mine wasn't too bad. The beans I chose, Mom Goes Nutty, has hints of peanut butter, which I could taste in my cup. It was a different experience for sure. Overall, I thought I had a 5-star experience, though the coffee I tried wasn't what I would normally drink. read more

Fully Caffeinated! What an absolute amazing find! Service was a vibe! I have to tell you I never leave reviews... but the espresso was so tasty I had to jump on here and let the world know. The espresso was FRESH and creamy. I went with a quad shot raspberry white chocolate and the baristas ratios were spot on! The shop is in an industrial area and definitely a hidden treasure. The coffee was good and the staff friendly. I would say this is more of a grab-and-go setup, with minimal seating. If you're looking for beans, this is the place to go. Being a coffee roaster and cafe has its advantages for getting several pounds for home while also getting a latte. Elliott Murrey Coffee Roasters opened up over in the same office/storage park as Three Mugs Brewing, sometime this summer I believe. I wish I'd known about them sooner, since their coffee is so good! Keri, the owner, was super helpful and friendly, describing her different roasts and the flavor profiles. I came home with her T-Town blend which is a dark roast. It's so good - it's smooth and chocolatey, not too acidic or bitter. It's my favorite bag of local beans I've tried yet! The space itself is used for roasting beans and they have a cute little store front for their products, which also include Keurig cup fills. They also have a cafe in the back where you can get a cup of coffee and a sweet treat to go. They're on the Joe Coffee app where you can order coffee ahead. Do yourself a favor and get yourself some coffee ASAP! read more

Wonderful roaster Keri who gave me her full attention and expertise, understanding how important customer service is and what it truly means. I left with a bag of Whoa, Dude! Espresso Blend beans and they are wonderful. The care of the roasters is clear when you grind and taste the creama. I am impressed and will be back for more. read more

Quality coffee and conversation! Essentially a one woman show, I was impressed by the hospitality and quality of the coffee, and it was also so fun to talk and learn more about the beans that were being roasted one room over. A woman owned business, it was refreshing asking a question and not getting mansplained about how to make coffee. Instead, we had an awesome conversation about how the beans were roasted, and the flavor profiles of the beans. Although pour over is not listed on the menu, don't hesitate to ask for it! We were treated to some freshly roasted "India" beans that had an amazing profile, and definitely an interesting flavor, so we actually ended up purchasing a bag as well. The espresso was also extremely well extracted. Being lactose intolerant we opted for oat milk, and the medium roast beans paired so well with the frothy oat milk. It was a decadent latte, very smooth and incredibly delicious. The owner is super knowledgeable and we just had the most fun time conversing and learning more about the business. They also sell some bags in stores, so even if you do not have opportunity to go to this newly opened brick and mortar store, make sure to check out their bags at Market of Choice and some other stores around the Portland Metro area. I'm late to write a review for my visit in January. I purchased a surprise bag through Too Good To Go, and I received a bag of whole bean "Mom Goes Nutty," and it is so delicious (peanut butter and milk chocolate). I tried a sample of their popular coffee and bought 2 bags of dark roast "Bad A** Mama," a couple of iced coffees and a cute "Roasted by Mom" magnet. Nice retro artwork on labels. Fun names of the coffees. Clean store and very nice owner. read more

A woman-owned small business nestled within a small warehouse complex. This coffee shop/roastery is quite literally, a one woman owned and operated show. The owner was so incredibly hospitable and was absolutely fantastic about explaining the flavor profiles of the various coffees she was roasting. She also provided excellent beverage recommendations based on our input. We deeply appreciated her welcoming personality and were thoroughly impressed by her expertise and knowledge about her product. The coffee itself: we bought a bag of single origin Indian coffee beans, a pour over with the single origin Indian coffee beans, and a latte with an espresso blend sourced from South and Central America. The beans were freshly roasted and we bought it after tasting the incredibly unique flavor profile of the pour over made with the same beans...earthy with an aftertaste of spices like cardamom. The latte was so smooth and had a wonderful velvety texture. (Would definitely go back just to try out a shot of espresso that was in the latte!) I really hope anyone in the Hillsboro area will go and support this amazing business. In our conversation with the owner, it was so evident just how hard she is working to perfect her craft and get her name out there. I ordered a cappuccino and got a latte, the cup was heavy relative to what a cappuccino cup should weigh, iykwim so I asked to confirm if it was a cappuccino and they said yes. I Was The Only Customer at the time. Anyways I paid, tipped and left. This was my first time there, and most probably my last. :( Please know the difference, it hurts to not get a good cup of cappuccino. Beautiful shop and amazing coffee! I've been in love with Keri's coffee for a long time. I'm so glad that she was able to open this amazing roaster & coffee bar! Her coffee is the only coffee we ever have here at home- we love it! I especially enjoy her Woah Dude Espresso and her decaf is so flavorful. One of the best white mocha's I've had here in Hillsboro! Some of these other local coffee shops have some tough competition w/ this one! The ratio of my drink was amazing, and the customer service was rad. The owner is a mega coffee buff and it's super cool to see the passion come through in the drinks. Aspiring mom-owned business that recently opened their coffee shop during the pandemic and I'll have to say... I'm so inspired by how much of a hardworking and enthusiastic person Keri is. She roasts her coffee beans herself at her shoot and it's quite a hole in the wall coffee shop new to Hillsboro. Support LOCAL, absolutely during this time as there is so much competition. The comments from the other people here have taught me even more about this amazing coffee spot than she was able to share for the short time we were able to visit! My husband and I were finishing up errands & he needed some coffee. He did a google search for the area we were in & Elliott & Murrey came up on the radar. Since we prefer patroning smaller businesses rather than *certain* corporations who burn their drinks and sell stale snacks, we decided to stop by here. BOY am I glad he found this little gem! The location threw us off a bit and we were confused at first since it felt very industrial, but it turned out to be better than expected! I'm not a coffee drinker myself so I was actually pleased that I wasn't blasted by strong burnt coffee smells upon entering like I usually am at other spots. It was a very pleasant scent, especially for somebody who doesn't care for coffee and is extremely sensitive to smells. It was almost as if I went back in time because there was 90s alt-rock/grunge music playing in the background & this vintage-looking poster of No Doubt hanging on her wall, which was also my favorite band from back then! Upon inquiring, she shared that she's the roaster, brewer, social media lead of her company AND a mother of a toddler, it just blew my mind! If there was any such thing as a "super woman", Keri would be that in my opinion! Since I don't like coffee, I ordered her Chai, which she informed me was sourced from a woman who gets her leaves from her family farm(?) back in India. I just feel stupid for ordering a small since it was THAT GOOD! Definitely the best chai I have ever had by a long shot! Normally they're ridiculously strong and overpowering to where I can't even finish it, but this was very pleasant and mild. My husband is a bit cautious with trying new coffee places so he went with a latte, but when we visit again, he'll order something stronger.
