Thick mugs kept our drinks hot for a long time.

What a gym of a coffee shop. Cozy and friendly. Strong, rich, coffee and espresso drinks. And what seems to be an impromptu serenade. What Mark did you ask for? oh, and they have breakfast sandwiches and pastries, too!

The cutest little local coffee shop. Eclectic furniture and decorations, plenty of seating with outlets, and super friendly staff. Yummy looking baked goods and little artsy gift shop items by local artists. My husband adored this coffee shop and we loved trying the coffee and getting some work done while we were in the area.

They roast their own beans and sell quite a nice variety

Hands down the best local coffee option in Hillsboro. Great for studying, catching up with a friend or stopping in to have a cozy moment on a busy work day. Staff always seem happy and polite. They seem to enjoy where they work! The menu is versatile and provides enough variety. There are always multiple drip options available at the main counter. Pastries are outstanding and very well portioned. Definitely enough to split with a friend! Overall, the ambiance resembles a blend of feeling like you're in your great aunts kitchen with a twist of vintage flair. Its uniqueness manages to instill an appealing and comforting atmosphere that keeps me coming back a lot. Make sure you check it out soon!

Insomnia is an absolute Hillsboro staple, it has the perfect cozy coffee shop vibes and encourages interaction with the community through their posting boards and artist/maker markets that happen during the holidays. This is a great place to stop in for a fresh pastry and a warm soothing drink during these colder Oregon months. During some holidays they even offer take and bake pastries to impress all your family members! Baristas are friendly and helpful when deciding on what to get from all their amazing specials.

I've been a loyal Insomnia customer since moving to Hillsboro almost 7 years ago. It's got easy breezy neighborhood coffee shop vibes with good quality coffee and delicious muffins. Service is consistent and vibes are good, for quick cups of coffee, for meeting friends, for doing work or for studying. No complaints. :)

I love the coffee that Insomnia serves. I purchased coffee and a blackberry scone this morning. The scone is "stale" . It tastes more than a couple days old. Lesson learned. I'll be back for coffee though.

The tea service is beautifully presented, with lovely tiered trays of savory bites, sweets, and pastries that make the whole afternoon feel like a real occasion. What stood out most was how relaxing and elegant the experience felt without ever seeming stiff or overly formal. The teas were excellent, and the whole service invited you to slow down and enjoy yourself. It's the kind of place that makes you want to linger, talk a little longer, and order one more pot of tea. There's a charm to Skywater that is hard to fake. It feels welcoming, peaceful, and carefully done in all the right ways. For a special outing, a celebration, or just a beautiful afternoon treat, their high tea is a delight. Five stars.

Scones were dry and somewhat flavorless. I think the new owners are of Filipino descent so there were a couple anomalies, 1. ham sandwich (which is too fatty and this should be poultry instead) and 2. The matcha thumbprint cookie just doesn't work. Matcha is strong and grassy and doesn't complement the menu. The oreo cheesecake muffin was my favorite thing. Albeit the menu seems limited, you'll find options such as the Chocolate Croissant, (which is my favorite! Also, maybe I forgot to mention it, but this is a vegan coffee cake! On the savory side, I'd encourage you to try the Savory Biscuit with Egg and Sausage, or Bacon. This is for those indulging themselves in the moment with their loved ones, and not on a diet. Speaking of diet, if you'd like to enjoy of their carefully curated ambience, assortment of free board games or joining a friend for chess or knitting on a Monday, you could enjoy drip coffee for as low as $4 (!) or the delicious Fruit Sangria Tea - add honey for some decadence. Pro tip: Get a 20% discount on everything by buying 4 x $25 Insomnia gift cards at Costco, for $79. Again, my favorite part, beyond the classic Aztec Mocha showered in cinnamon (not for health but because that enhances flavor in food!), that they're open at 6am sharp, the free blankets to keep you warm when sitting outside, or the fact that the barista knows me by name and spells my long name correctly (Baltazar), is that all this together show the amount of love both owners and employees put into each cup of coffee poured for us.

Fold over half and let the omelette finish cooking capturing inside the egg mixture in one item with cheese melting inside. The coffee is not impressive. I have been looking for a decent breakfast/brunch place close by but so far no luck there. I am still recovering from renal failure so my mobility is severely limited. I travel mostly at the pleasure of the Veterans Transportation Service or Trimet Lyft. Today's Dr appointment finished up sooner than expected so I had some time to kill before the van returned to take me home. So I fired up my tablet and took a look on Yelp to see if there was anything of interest close by. Enter Insomnia Coffee. Lots of positive reviews. Right around the corner. So... off I go. I an a US Navy brownwater sailor. We drink coffee that tastes like coffee. No additives. None. Not even cream or (gasp) sugar. So when I told the barista [HA! The person who pours coffee into a cup] that i wanted a cup of coffee black I got this sort of deer in the headlights look. What? ...I'm sure she was thinking... no Madagascar cinnamon? no foaming goop? no stale crouton crumbs? no pumpkin pie spice? Ummmm seriously? People want their coffee to taste like pumpkin? Yikes. No Miss... just a cuppa Joe. Just like my first heart throb, Anna Mae Bullock....strong and black. And I have to say, insomnia delivered. Not a bad cup of coffee at all. Although I didn't really want to hang out there since it appeared that I had zero in common with anyone I saw there... hogging the comfortable looking chairs. So I had it in a paper cup, to go. Now I have a "thing" about drinking coffee from a large, ceramic mug.... I loathe tasting paper in my coffee and yes I can tell it's in a paper cup even blindfolded. but I digress. They did have a whole display area of decadent looking pastries and not the tiny, overpriced, bogus looking stuff you see at Starbucks. Not that i would ever go into a Starbucks even to use the rest room. They had several pies that made my mouth water and some gooey breakfast glazed things that would have seriously spiked my glucose. so I reluctantly passed. Perhaps next time :)
