My daughter found this delightful cafe for us to meet on Sunday. What a find! We got there at opening, and there was already a line! The welcome was very friendly when we arrived at the counter, and they kept the queue moving at a steady pace, so we hardly had any wait. You order at the counter, get a number, find a table, and they deliver your order to you. There are a decent number of tables inside (don't panic, check the back room for seats, too!), as well as several outside on the wraparound porch. The whole converted country house is adorable, inside and out! South Store Cafe radiates a rustic-chic, inviting atmosphere. They have a fairly comprehensive breakfast-and-lunch menu, but they also have two enclosed pastry cases chock-full of sweet and savory goodies sure to please any palate. I thought I knew what I wanted until I saw that case! In the end, I got the sausage and mushroom strata with a homemade cardamom syrup latte, all of which was delicious! This is a great cafe but a little chaotic. The menus are in a box and it says to check the board for specials. Problem is the boards are behind the order counter so you can't see them until you go to order. The order takers are friendly and patient. You get an order number and find a place to sit- either inside (very "cozy") or outside. We chose outside as there was less people. I had the chicken salad and he had the ham and Swiss. Both had too much greens for our taste. We split a Bloody Mary that was very good but came with a dried out artichoke heart. Came here on a weekend and it was popping despite it being sort of hidden. Great vibes, love the eclectic, older cottage, vibe. There is seating in the back too so don't be intimidated if there aren't a ton of open tables when you first walk in. That being said it fills up pretty quick so I'd definitely recommend going early on a weekend. the food is sort of where it missed the mark for me. I had the Ham Breakfast sandwich and my wife had the croque madam. Of the two, I'd definitely recommend the latter over the former. The sandwich was sort of underwhelming. A delicious brunch spot off the highway! Parking isn't great but you can park and walk just watch the highway traffic. The staff is welcoming and pleasant, very helpful when ordering. You start by ordering at the counter, they give you a number and just pick anywhere to sit. I believe there's also additional seating in back if needed but I can imagine the porch being perfect on a nice day. We ordered the bacon breakfast sandwich and the Croque Monsieur with an extra egg and side of bacon. I recommend the iced white chocolate mocha. They also have some boozy beverages to choose from. A friend and I dropped into this cute old house converted in a yummy breakfast/lunch spot. On the third Friday of the Month, they have an After Hours Event from 3 to 7 where you can order from the lunch menu and enjoy live music. We arrived around 4 and it was hopping. Very interesting music, not my jam, but everyone seemed excited and I loved my chicken pot pie and side salad. My companion had chicken and waffles that was so huge she had to take half of it home. Hot Honey and gravy were included and it was hilarious to see her licking the honey from her fingers, she said it was that good. I most definitely would love to drop by here for breakfast. read more

Opening day for u-pick Hoods, so of course we had to hit South Store Cafe for lunch afterwards. As usual, I had the meatloaf sandwich and I substituted the chips for potato salad. Both were amazing. Wife got the garden sandwich with a piece of bacon a spicy aioli, along with the broccoli cheddar soup - she loved both. Son got the BLT with potato salad - he loved it and will get it again next time unless he wants the soup more than the potato salad. Daughter got the garden sandwich on a croissant and the potato salad, which she also loved. Wife and I had drip coffee that's great, and son really liked the strawberry lemonade. Daughter had the latte special that she liked, but next time she probably wants a cold drink. Parents loved the meatloaf sandwich. Got the Marionberry puff, which was great and reminded us of a homemade puffy pop tart. Orange sugar cookie and the earl grey blueberry coffee cake were great too. Had hopes for the almond bear claw but it didn't have enough almond paste on the inside. Staff were friendly and the ambience is really nice. We'll be back! read more

It's become my tradition to ride my bike out here for a small breakfast every Sunday. Everyone is super friendly and the food is delicious. I normally grab some kind of pastry, a side of bacon and a coffee. This most recent time I had their biscuits and gravy. I don't like to toot my own horn, but biscuits and sausage gravy is one of those things I'm confident I can make better than any one I've tried in a restaurant. Theirs is the first I've really enjoyed more! Delicious biscuits and even better gravy. Next time I'll need to try it with a savory biscuit. I've never been here before, but it was a cute cozy cafe that seemed like everyone knew what to do. It was intimidating at first, I sat down with my MIL and grabbed a menu, till a nice employee let us know how it works. You order at one of the cashiers and then they give you a number and get a table. I think for it being our first time and it seemed quite busy, that we were just overwhelmed and sat down. But overall the staff was friendly, the layout was cozy. We got some marionberry puff pastries to go! And it was absolutely delicious. The special we had was delicious as well! Now personally for me I have two little kids, I personally probably wouldn't bring them just because of how intimate the seating arrangement feels. I can't believe it's taken me this long to finally visit South Store Cafe! Their parking lot is small but we lucked out with a small spot in the back. We came on a Sunday around lunchtime and it was bustling with activities and hungry diners. You walk into the front door and it has an instant cabin and homey feel. You order at the counter and walk through a giant case of beautiful pastries and they do have gluten-free options for pastries and bread for sandwiches for my gluten-free friend. Service was friendly and attentive when ordering and after they dropped off the food. I got the Reuben sandwich special and a cup of potato leek soup while my friend got the BLT. Of course we shared some lovely sweet treats including a cookie, Marionberry pufftart, and a white chocolate raspberry croissant muffin thing (sorry I forgot the name it was so good though!) The seating options are cramped in the main dining room but there were plenty of more tables in the back. High chairs and booster seats available and silverware and take out boxes on the shelves by the water stations. My Reuben was flavorful and well toasted and the soup was creamy and filling, my toddler ate half the bowl! It was the perfect amount of food with some sweet treats to take home to enjoy later. Such an adorable family owned cafe, 20 minutes south of Hillsboro, surrounded by farms and beautiful landscapes. Just the drive here alone was nice and scenic. My bestie and I wanted to have brunch before we head over to Oregon Heritage Farms so we decided to come here. Parking can be a little challenging due to limited space, but luckily we found a spot in their parking lot. Once inside, you stand in line to place your order and they give you a number to take to your table. It was a gorgeous Sunday and the sun was out which gave the space a very warm ambiance as light filtered through the windows. The tables had cute vases of flowers, ours had a Dahlia which is my favorite flower of course! They serve Lunch all day and Breakfast until 1pm, however they have a special menu served on Sat & Sun only. Since we were there on a Sunday, I ordered the Croque Madame and my friend ordered the Ham & Cheese Croissant. Both were exquisite and delightful, the eggs were perfect and runny, and both orders came with fresh fruit. Our lattes were also wonderful and just right. As we sat and ate our food, I couldn't help but take in the vibrant and warm atmosphere as families and friends gathered here to enjoy good food, hearing the laughters, and seeing smiles on everyone's faces. It just really says a lot about how this business focuses on creating delicious, comforting food and making it a place that is welcoming for all. We've driven past South Store Cafe heading to other places many times, and always wanted to try it out but never gave. I'm finally glad to say that I've tried it! Had folks from out of town visiting and I wanted to scope out the parking and wait situation last night so I popped in and while I was there got a Kouign-amann that had pistachio and orange blossom. I don't eat a lot of sweets and when I do it's maybe a bite or two and I never touch it again - this was so delicious I had eaten the entire thing by the time I got home! When we came for lunch today it was close enough to closing that options were limited but it didn't matter! Food was great. I got the veggie quiche and I'd do it again for sure. Another standout ordered was the carrot soup. Looking forward to coming back next time we are out visiting our favorite wineries. read more

Overall it could be a little sweeter for me. **Passionfruit tart - Also good and flaky, decorated with a fresh flower. **Mushroom cheese pastry - great, packed with flavorful earthy mushrooms. It was served room temperature, not heated up, I should have asked them to but I didn't want to wait and it was still delicious. My Mom enjoyed her **Avocado-Tomato Breakfast Sandwich. Stuffed with piping hot eggs. Came with a side of fruit slices. ** Bacon, Egg & Cheddar Breakfast Croissant - Whoa! Big and satisfying. His plate was eye candy. We have been wanting to stop here and finally did. This place is an old store turned restaurant. It is incredible and potentially my new favorite breakfast spot in the area. You order at the counter, where they sell pastries, drinks, and breakfast and lunch options. They offer a daily soup and wrap option, which is marked on a chalkboard behind the counter. The strata was out of this world and the portion size was just right. They have a great Bloody Mary and latte selection. We took a pecan roll and a savory danish home for the next morning and loved them as well. The parking lot is bit tight but they know what they're doing with how it's plotted out. Seating inside may seem tight but there is additional seating in the back of the store you can take advantage of. Such a great find! Doing Open Studios in Yamhill County today with a friend who knew about this a we were starving so we stopped in. So glad we did. Their sandwiches were soooo good! We arrived shortly before 2pm on a Friday afternoon and ordered at the counter. The person at the register was super welcoming & friendly. We could tell it has been a busy day because most of the freshly baked pastries were sold out. We considered getting the last pecan roll, but successfully resisted the temptation. Then we grabbed a seat inside and helped ourselves to some still water while looking around at the interior of the restaurant which is definitely old, but has maintained its original charm. Largest piece of quiche I have ever received at a restaurant. Crust was mostly flaky. The edges were a bit hard but I like that personally. Tasted great! Comes with small piece of toast and small slices of orange, pineapple and something else, can't recall. Watermelon?? Drinks came out as soon as we sat ourselves outside (cute porch area! I had never seen an apple tree trained to live in a window box along the railing. Charming!) Food came out quickly. Even the servers look like they belong there! Efficient service, not chatty or particularly friendly. Didn't bother me. The place on a Sunday is nonstop. They are dong their jobs and keeping things moving. Such a cute little homey cafe! We stopped by here on a Sunday around brunch time and as someone who is obsessed with pastries, this was such a great choice. There's a large selection of fresh pastries and we didn't know which ones to choose! We ended up going with this Pecan Pastry that was divine, as well as a Blueberry Chia Muffin and a Nutella Donut. The pastries here are definitely on the sweeter side, but super tasty. The pecan one was definitely my favorite - it had a sticky, mapley glaze and they did not skip out on the pecans.
