Never mind, I consoled myself. I live up the street and I'd be back another day. Or every day. That rose cardamom croissant is heavenly. Crispy, flaky, every bite bursting with crystalline sugar. I might just get that every time I come back. At decent prices and a fun assortment of drinks, how could you not want to come back? I loved that they had at least two variety of drips. I take my coffee black and so it's nice to have the option to go tangy or not. They leave them out front which I assume means you can get a refill whenever you need one. The shop is huge! Plenty of room for you to make space for friends and have a chat or hole up in a corner and study. You won't be fighting over outlets here. Insomnia is the best! My husband and I come here often and love it. My husband's favorite drink (ever) is the real caramel latte (RCL for short), and he orders it every single time. I love their lattes and tend to switch up the flavors each time. I love their pumpkin spice latte and their maple spice latte, but every drink we've had has been really good. Prices are fair and the staff are always SO nice. It can get busy and be hard to find somewhere to sit, but something usually opens up if you wait a few minutes. We love this place. Updating my prior review. The more I come here, the more I love it. I'm currently in line awaiting my first EGGNOG Chai of the season. Literally my favorite drink ever! The other coffee shop across the street doesn't seem to do eggnog anymore. The lines definitely move faster these days and they seem to have more people working. I've tried a few new pastries as well and everything has been delicious. I also now buy bags of their house chai to take home and make for myself and it's the best I've found for make-a They also try to make those connections and remember my name and my order which I really appreciate. Delicious and quick fix for some coffee! I got an iced latte with whole milk and caramel and love that it doesn't taste watered down or overly sweet from the addition of caramel syrup. The coffee isn't overwhelming either as someone who doesn't like strong coffee. They made the drink fairly quickly too. The staff is amazing here. Upon arrival, the line was to the door. We only had 30 minutes to get a coffee and pastry, and I nearly left and went somewhere else, as I thought it would be a long wait. Given the efficiency of the staff we had our coffee and happily chomping on our yummy pastries within 10 minutes. I was impressed by how upbeat all the staff were given how busy it was.   We got a Black Forest Mocha, a biscuit sandwich and a coffee cake. I wish we would have asked to have the coffee cake heated. I think that would have made the entire experience perfect.  I will return, but maybe not on a busy Sunday morning. read more

First time at the Murray location, and like it's Downtown Hillsboro location, it does not disappoint. Ordered an Aztec mocha, which was slightly spicy, but overall a well crafted espresso drink. Although the art on top was slightly shaken up by the time I had an opportunity to take a picture, the overall experience was delicious, and just like I would recommend the downtown location, so too would I recommend this one! There are so many lovely local coffee shops in the Portland area, but over the past year Insomnia has become my favorite. The baristas are all friendly and make great recommendations. I love the cozy vibe with lots of mismatch comfy seating and decor. It's such a great spot to camp out and catch up with friends or get some work done. This is a very popular spot so there's usually a bit of a wait, but it's well worth it. If you're stopping by in a rush on your way to work, I recommend ordering ahead online. My go-to coffee order is their real caramel latte. I've never been one to order caramel lattes, but after trying their caramel sauce, I'm a changed woman. It genuinely feels like drinking a hug and it's not too sweet. Additionally, my coworker put me onto their quiche, and I've since ordered it 10+ times. It's a rotating seasonal flavor and it's always perfectly creamy and delicious. The texture reminds me of Starbucks egg bites in the best way. The food and service are good. The biggest concern s that it is challenging to find a place to sit (especially with a group of three or more). The reason is that one individual take up the larger group tables with their computers and work from the coffee shop. I would recommend that these larger tables be designated for groups of three or more. read more
