First time here I wanted to try the Brazilian coffee.I got a brigadeiro mocha iced and the Docinho De Coco Cake. The brigadeiro was ok it taste like a mocha. But I got it single shot so maybe that's why. The coco cake was delicious tho! Tasted like a cocada de Mexico. The owner was super kind and friendly. They are located inside a food cart area that has sitting and tvs playing sports. I enjoyed the vibe!

I was a little worried walking in and realizing it's in a food truck pod. Don't let that fool you! This place is inside the brick and mortar area. They have a little sitting area with comfy chairs and of course there is tons of seating on the picnic style tables. All indoors. The menu is wide and not overwhelming. They have some great offerings. I stuck with an Americano and it was perfect. The workers are super nice, don't rush you, do whatever they can to make sure you get what you want.

As an indoor vender at the Hillsboro Downtown Station, it's easy to have their desert after any meal you choose. These Brazilian cakes and deserts are top notch, rich, and delicious. Service was perfect, and in the pretty and spacious station, it's easy to have Brazilian Desert for dinner!!

I just dropped by for a sweet treat, I got a brigadiero! This is delicious and chewy truffle size goodies. The people were super sweet and very quick, even though they were super busy. They were at Hillsboro Station, so we could drink and eat their sweet treats and they have Brazilian Cheese Bread!!

Love their pão de queijo which was so fresh and warm. They also have lots of great desserts though I didn't have any today. They are super warm and kind. Definitely worth a stop by if in town!

Walking in, we were immediately greeted by the smiling staff and there were already quite a few people working on their laptops in various corners of the coffee shop. Looks like a great place to work or study. I got the Black Forest Mocha and a cinnamon roll to share. My drink was not too sweet which I appreciated but it did feel less full than expected. They did warm up the cinnamon roll which was soft and delicious and I love that they source their pastries from surrounding small businesses like the gluten free Blue Moon Bakery! Smart partnership! My friend got her toddler daughter an Italian Soda and they gave her a kids whipped cream cup with confetti sprinkles which was super cute. She also found the hidden bear and got a sticker as well. I love when businesses make it fun for the kids. Bonus they had a local artist spotlight showcase which was so neat! I'll have to come back to try more drinks and food but could definitely see this shop as a great hangout spot to catch up with friends or get some work/study done. Come support this local business when you are in town or visit their other locations around!

The tea service is beautifully presented, with lovely tiered trays of savory bites, sweets, and pastries that make the whole afternoon feel like a real occasion. The teas were excellent, and the whole service invited you to slow down and enjoy yourself. It's the kind of place that makes you want to linger, talk a little longer, and order one more pot of tea. There's a charm to Skywater that is hard to fake. It feels welcoming, peaceful, and carefully done in all the right ways. For a special outing, a celebration, or just a beautiful afternoon treat, their high tea is a delight. Five stars.

Albeit the menu seems limited, you'll find options such as the Chocolate Croissant, (which is my favorite! Ask for it warmed up and you can taste its crispy flakes with more gusto!) to the Vegan Coffee Cake, which is surprisingly tasty, and you wouldn't think it's vegan! Also, maybe I forgot to mention it, but this is a vegan coffee cake! On the savory side, I'd encourage you to try the Savory Biscuit with Egg and Sausage, or Bacon. This is for those indulging themselves in the moment with their loved ones, and not on a diet. Speaking of diet, if you'd like to enjoy of their carefully curated ambience, assortment of free board games or joining a friend for chess or knitting on a Monday, you could enjoy drip coffee for as low as $4 (!) or the delicious Fruit Sangria Tea - add honey for some decadence. Pro tip: Get a 20% discount on everything by buying 4 x $25 Insomnia gift cards at Costco, for $79. Again, my favorite part, beyond the classic Aztec Mocha showered in cinnamon (not for health but because that enhances flavor in food!), that they're open at 6am sharp, the free blankets to keep you warm when sitting outside, or the fact that the barista knows me by name and spells my long name correctly (Baltazar), is that all this together show the amount of love both owners and employees put into each cup of coffee poured for us.

That said, the coffee was nothing special. It was cool to see the roasting facility through the glass in the dining area. Now let's talk about the breakfast. My husband had the eggs Benedict and it was OK. I ordered the West Coast Hash and eggs and it wasn't OK. My over medium eggs were microwave rubber. Moved like silly putty. The hash was 99% potatoes and microscopic squares of ham and chopped dried bacon. The meal was very unpleasant. The best part of the hash were the diced jalapeños. This place is a one and done for me.

I have been looking for a decent breakfast/brunch place close by but so far no luck there. I am still recovering from renal failure so my mobility is severely limited. I travel mostly at the pleasure of the Veterans Transportation Service or Trimet Lyft. Today's Dr appointment finished up sooner than expected so I had some time to kill before the van returned to take me home. So I fired up my tablet and took a look on Yelp to see if there was anything of interest close by. Enter Insomnia Coffee. Lots of positive reviews. Right around the corner. So... off I go. I an a US Navy brownwater sailor. We drink coffee that tastes like coffee. No additives. None. Not even cream or (gasp) sugar. So when I told the barista [HA! The person who pours coffee into a cup] that i wanted a cup of coffee black I got this sort of deer in the headlights look. What? ...I'm sure she was thinking... no Madagascar cinnamon? no foaming goop? no stale crouton crumbs? no pumpkin pie spice? Ummmm seriously? People want their coffee to taste like pumpkin? Yikes. No Miss... just a cuppa Joe. Just like my first heart throb, Anna Mae Bullock....strong and black. And I have to say, insomnia delivered. Not a bad cup of coffee at all. Although I didn't really want to hang out there since it appeared that I had zero in common with anyone I saw there... hogging the comfortable looking chairs. So I had it in a paper cup, to go. Now I have a "thing" about drinking coffee from a large, ceramic mug.... I loathe tasting paper in my coffee and yes I can tell it's in a paper cup even blindfolded. but I digress. They did have a whole display area of decadent looking pastries and not the tiny, overpriced, bogus looking stuff you see at Starbucks. Not that i would ever go into a Starbucks even to use the rest room. They had several pies that made my mouth water and some gooey breakfast glazed things that would have seriously spiked my glucose. so I reluctantly passed. Perhaps next time :)
