From a Brazilian perspective, this place is bogus. It's a chain, and has only one thing Brazilian about it: the imported Brazilian foodstuffs, stacked on one wall. None of the staff are Brazilian. As far as the location in Beaverton, the place is clean, but totally sterile, lifeless, utterly boring - glass and aluminum, linoleum and cookie-cutter furniture. There is absolutely nothing Brazilian about it - except for the "grocery section", where they have a lot of brightly-packaged, very "corporate", imported Brazilian foods. (The kibe and pão de queijo in the display case are quite good, though.) You absolutely cannot reach them by phone (I've tried numerous times over a period of years), and they NEVER answer messages left on the corporate line in Kirkwood, WA (every number you can find funnels you to this same corporate line). They are totally walled-off, in terms of human-human communication (extremely un-Brazilian!!) If you want ANY kind of Brazilian atmosphere, whatsoever, this is not the place to go. But if you have some favorite corporate Brazilian food item you like, like from a supermarket... you might find it there, though. read more

Kitanda is a nice Brazilian-themed coffee shop, bakery, and market. It's across the street from the Hyatt (where I was staying) and was great choice for a good cup of black coffee and a warmed up chocolate chip cookie. I took things back to the room, but I could have easily hung out at one of the tables near or at the window. read more

We went and got a bit of everything, definitely carb overload and more than we could finish: beef filled pastry, original pão de queijo, chicken cones, sausage and egg sando & spinach egg and cheese sando (the sandwiches came inside their cheese bread). All very good. Sandwiches and chicken cones weren't for me but rest very good. They also gave us a free ham & cheese I think. With coffee, everything was like $25. Average metro coffee shop vibes. I stopped in for coffee and a snack while my nails were drying after a trip to Frenchie's. It's a Brazilian coffee shop with small bites, pastries, and a mini Brazilian market. They have a few tables and a couch for seating. On a Sunday it was relatively quiet but I imagine it's pretty bustling during the workweek. The cashier and barista were friendly and helpful. I told them it was my first visit and asked what they would recommend, and they took the time to walk me through the food and coffee options. I ordered a Brazilian latte which uses condensed milk as a sweetener but still wasn't too sweet. I ordered a 12 oz and it was smooth and lovely but not enough coffee flavor for me, so next time I will either order an extra shot or maybe just go with the Cuban espresso. I tried a mini Kitanda bite, which is Brazilian cheese bread puff, and a ham and cheese roll. They were both delicious!! The ham and cheese roll had chooped ham, bacon, mozzarella, tomatoes, and oregano. It was creamy and herby and perfect. They also offer sandwiches with the Kitanda bread, which I think I will try next time. The prices are also extremely reasonable. I got all three items for $9. I wish I lived closer but I think I will be making this Frenchies/Kitanda combo a monthly affair. read more

Don't see a lot of Brazilian spots around town so this place is a fun find. They offer both traditional and Brazilian-inspired coffee, smoothies, and treats. They even have a little grocery store connected to the coffee shop selling Latin American goodies. All their pastries look very good. We went with the Romeo & Juliet Kitanda bread which was a Pao De Quejo sandwich with Guava Jam and Mozzerella. Always loved pao de quejo and theirs is a bigger size and was very tasty! The slight chewiness from the tapioca flour and saltiness from the cheese were amazing! I can eat this all day. The sweet and savory combo of the cheese and guava also worked really well. They offer a variety of filling for their Kitanda bread so you can go to town with it. Their Cuban Espresso is also nice and strong. Really not a boring item on their menu. Will be back to try more! Their staffs and space are great as well. Lots of tables for working and hanging out. read more

It's too bad it's a chain, but it's great to have a Brazilian coffee shop in our area. They serve a pretty good version of one of Brazil's favorite foods: pão de queijo! It's a wonderful little round cheese bread, made with tapioca flour. They taste great plain, but you also can get them with various fillings. And you can pick up frozen ones to take home and bake another time, they're in the grocery area which also includes authentic Brazilian sausages, cheeses, beans etc. There also are various coffee drinks that probably are better than the average cup of coffee in Brazil, actually! Make sure to request a for-here cup if you're drinking it here -- there is a way to do that on the automated ordering system, but it's easy to miss. There also are fruit bowls featuring Brazil's favorite fruit, açaí. Definitely worth a visit if you're in downtown Beaverton, or if you're craving pão de queijo (or want to try it for the first time). read more

Found this lovely cafe in in the Beaverton area near BG Food cartel. It's been under construction during the summer and finally opened this fall! The selection of foods is amazing. I ordered a custom item off menu (a London Fog) and the barista executed it perfectly with a nice milk froth. Tried a chocolate chip cookie that was dense, flat and chewy. Slightly buttery and delicious. Will stop by next time for the the deli savory items. There's lots of products , cheese, frozen cheese balls / pao de queijo as well as hot items in the deli display. Didn't try a coffee this time but next time will sip on some Brazilian roast. Lots of indoor seating to sit and relax. Menu prices are about $4-6 per drink item. read more

Great little Brazilian coffee house by the Beaverton Central MAX stop. It's also a 5 minute walk from the sparkling new Reser Center for the performing arts. They make authentic Acai bowls, and I had a large one for breakfast today. Dried mango pieces, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, coconut shavings, granola, and delicious blended acai berries. New Brazilian place and to be honest, aside from Brazilian meat, I've never really had Brazilian food before. They open early and close late for a cafe which was great. They welcomed me nicely and told us some of their specialties. I asked what's the difference between regular latte and Brazilian latte. They told me it was the condensed milk they put inside. So, I got their Brazilian latte for $3.99. Price was okay for 12oz. I personally thought it was too sweet with the condensed milk. I'm the person who likes stronger coffee and the condensed milk just made it bland for me. I got their beef pocket for $3.79. For the portion, it was reasonable. Sadly, I was not a fan of the spices. I'm new to it and there were some spices that I didn't really enjoy. Also, there was some frozen beef flavor (hard to explain) but it didn't sit well with me. The bread part though was so good! It was soft, airy, and light. If they just sell the bread part I would buy them by the dozen! I also got 5 mini chicken cones for $3.96. It was seasoned chicken with soft dough. Again, the dough was really good, soft, and nicely textured. The seasoning was different than the beef's. It was lighter and a bit tasteless, lacking salt in some ways. I tasted the frozen chicken smell/flavor too. Like food that was frozen for a long time and maybe it's called a freezer burn taste? The fruit bowl was not bad. Tasty but the issue is .. selective hearing and I wish that the cashier listened more. I told them I don't mind paying for the custom bowl but I did not want 10oz of the açaí bowl: i asked for half the portion of the mixture and the rest to be fruit. Money isn't the issue.. I would pay for extra toppings. The cashier said okay, I re confirmed.... And of course .. exactly what I did not want happened. I do wish that açaí bowls had more fruit portions. I love this place. It is close by the Reser Center for the Arts and a perfect place to go before performances. The staff is very friendly and efficient and the food and drinks are wonderful. My coworkers and I walked here from the transit center. It was a pretty easy walk, super handy! As we approached we were greeted just genuinely, that's the best way I know how to describe it. Everybody always says "hello" and "welcome in" these days, but we FELT it. So we're inside, there's a nice comfy little seating area that I join my coworkers at after ordering. I don't recall what I got to drink which is what I actually went there for right, it's a coffee shop. OMG though you guys! I ordered a brownie. I saw a brownie, it looked good, so I ordered it. I expected the barista to pick it up, plop it in a little bag and hand it to me. That's what didn't happen. I don't know what did because I went to my cozy chair to await the calling of my name...
