You would read people mentioning this company on social media which I am now convinced their own…read morepeople just writing it. But push come to shove, my curiosity got the better hold of me and I hired them to do an estimate. Yes you have to pay $50 for that, but I am convinced that's how they make the money as their estimate was way over-priced. The guy didn't suggest to fix anything, just replace and big repairs. The estimate came to 3X what the contractor I hired charged (and the guy did a great job.) Don't believe the hype, they are not worth it even to get an estimate cause it's not free. They know they are high.

I appreciated the strong communication from the scheduling team, the fact that our tech was timely,…read moreprofessional, and did good quality work. But, I felt like the company exploits the hourly fee by including unloading their car, loading it back up (in multiple trips) and whatever the hell paperwork is happening on the ipad. I'd estimate that we paid an extra $300 or so for things that they do to try to add time. Some of the work took far longer than it should. Somehow our tech spent two hours installing less than 2 feet of floor molding, when we already had it. So, we paid like $400 something for what should be maybe a $150, or max $200 project. Plus they look for other ways to make a project take far longer. When we had to order a door, the staff was like "we'll pick it up for you from the warehouse" -- it was 45 minutes away from our home and would have cost us hundreds, when it turns out the company they purchased it from could easily deliver it for $7. Hambelton didn't even give me that option til I fought for it. I also told our tech not to bother doing certain things (like clean), and since he insisted, I offered our own shop vac, and he refused to use it, instead going down to his car to get more of his own tools/supplies. So cool, another $50 for some cleaning that would have taken me like 2 min. There was even dumb stuff, like the company made me pay for our tech's parking meter because the contract (which you don't sign until after paying the non refundable deposit, says that you must guarantee parking for your tech). It wasn't necessarily about the money there, it was just annoying that they cannot accept the cost of doing business. For that reason, I'm not sure I would use Hambelton again. I don't mind paying for good work, but, again, this just felt exploitive. But, if you truly don't care about price, Hambelton was reliable, and did good work (which, admittedly is rare for handymen).

I completely trust Marshall Roofing. They have always been thorough and fair…read more Today was the second time I had Marshall help with a roofing issue and, true to form, Jose P. called when he was en route, arrived on time and got right to work. When he discovered a problem that was not foreseen by the estimator he had to run out to get a part but came back promptly and finished the job on schedule. Although this specific element was not included in the original estimate, Jose installed it without fuss and did not charge for the part or his extra labor. Where can you find that kind of responsibility these days? I would never call anyone but Marshall!

They came out and replaced the vent and associated shingles. Great fix! Now, 25 years after moving into this as a new house, I needed a new roof. I got two estimates, one from Marshall. Marshall's representative, Doug, was so thorough and professional in his reprensentation to me and offered a solution re moviing the attic exhaust fan closer to the eave and keeping the ridge vent. The other estimator suggested removing the ridge vent. I wasn't comfortable not having a ridge vent. I again went with Marshall. It was a two day job. They dedicated a more than sufficient crew to the job. The guys were so attentive to protecting against falling shingles as they were stripped from the roof. In short, they did an excellent job! I had absolutely nothing to be concerned about with Marshall's professionalism as a company. And, there cost was lower than my other bid. I only got two bids as my past experience with Marshall and with Doug's representation made it a no-brainer! If you need a roof, go with Marshall.

I want to credit the office staff for being super responsive/helpful to my calls, texts, and emails. I highly recommend Roofer911. My roof looks beautiful. I had a frightening experience with an employee driving a Schroeder Design and Build company…read morevehicle today. I was merging into the right lane with my turn signal on to make a turn into a grocery store, and the driver of their van who had a long grey beard aggressively sped up to block me from merging, almost ran my car off the road. I was genuinely scared and kept distance from his car and passed the grocery store to not go near him. We recently had Schroeder replace our old sun porch with a 4-season room, and overall we are very…read morepleased with both the process and the end result. During the design phase, the architect, Jessica, was incredibly helpful and responsive to our questions and concerns. We also threw in a curveball only a couple of weeks before the planned start date when we asked them if they could add a basement room underneath the new room; the original plan had been to have just a crawl space. They rolled with it and amended the plans and permits in record time. When we had trouble coming up with how we wanted to use the new room, we met with Jessica again and she had a great suggestion that we ended up going with: make it our living room rather than a home office as we'd planned, and turn our existing living room into an office, with a wall and door added to create an entryway separating it from the front door. Despite all the last-minute changes, they started on schedule and completed the bulk of the work in about 3 months, including several unrelated add-ons we requested. There were some challenges along the way; for example, when they removed a set of sliding glass doors, the wall above them dropped a half-inch because the doors turned out to be load-bearing. But the end result is everything we hoped for and more. During the actual building process, the project manager came to our house often to check on progress, answer questions, etc. Towards the end, the company promptly addressed any issues we had. We are very happy with the work overall. The new living room and home office look amazing, and we now have an extra basement room. No company is perfect, however, so there were a few negatives. For instance, we had a minor flooding issue in the basement due to a hole made during the digging, and there was a painter who seemed to show up only when they felt like it. And we had some confusion over the financial side when we couldn't make a draw on our HELOC immediately due to the invoice being issued during the holidays when it was impossible to schedule the required inspection, and the Schroeder folks kept on calling us about it despite our telling them there wasn't much we could do to force the bank to release the funds given the timing. However, all of these issues were resolved, nothing was damaged by the water that got into the basement, and the project was completed on schedule. We tend to judge a company not on whether there are problems (because that's almost inevitable, especially with a large renovation project), but on how they handle such issues when they arise. Schroeder was responsive to our questions and concerns, and we would absolutely work with them again; in fact, we plan to hire them when we get to the next update we want to do in our home, probably in another couple of years.
