We've tried to dine here on a Wednesday and Thursday night a few months before, but the line is out of the door. So we finally decided to come on a Monday afternoon, and it wasn't busy. It was my first time here, and the waitress was friendly and offered suggestions. For an appetizer, we had the six battered shrimp which were very good. I needed a few more of those. We had the Monday special which is the T-bone steak and ordered them with mushroom and onion. That was a mistake. We received the steak and the plate was swimming in juices (see pic). The taste was not good at all, and I had to send it back. But I didn't see my waitress for over 20 minutes because she took a smoke break. When she finally came back to the table, I requested a steak without mushroom and onion. This one was cooked perfectly and was delicious (see pic). I also had what seems to be a famous cocktail here and enjoyed it immensely. Overall, I would return since I know how "not" to order the steak and for that tasty cocktail. read more

Finally gave Caper's a try after hearing great reviews from friends and coworkers for years. Ordered online (a hassle in itself) and walked in to pick up our order and immediately regretted my decision. Place smelled like greasy fries, not steak. Five or six employees squabbling amongst themselves. Order was wrong, glad we checked before we left. Got home and unpacked our food... To call the food 'mediocre' would be generous. $7 salads consisting of nothing but greens, tomatoes and cucumber. Soggy fries. Flavorless garlic bread which was just oddly-colored toast. Frozen Kroger brand is vastly superior. Worst of all, a $22 steak with NO sear, grey throughout like it was somehow both over- and undercooked. Flavorless and extremely fatty. NOT a $50 carryout meal for two, could've done much better for less money from a chain restaurant. Horrible food, poor service, massively overpriced. Won't be back. Extremely disappointed. Paid for with a GrubHub gift card. If this were bought with my own money, I would've been back demanding a refund. read more

Very disappointing! I ordered the 12oz Delmonico medium well. Accompanied y the Sautéed spinach. The steak came out well before the side of spinach! The steak was thin and has a lot of char on it! The spinach came out later. It was very salty. The steak had no pink and was served well done. I sat at the bar. The server was rude. read more

I LOVE this restaurant! I took my Mom here for a late lunch on my day off. It was our first time there. We came on a Monday just around 3pm, so there was no wait at all. We sat ourselves and had menus within minutes. The waiter (who was fabulous) explained the a la carte menu, as well as the daily special. We both chose the Monday T-bone special where the steak was $0.70 per ounce. She got the 12oz medium rare and I got the 16oz medium well. Both were awesome. They were cooked perfectly. They were juicy, incredibly tender and seasoned well. I also had the broccoli, which was perfectly steamed. She had a huge plain baked potato and we both had a slice of garlic toast which was divine (using it to sop up the juices from the steak). I also had the French onion soup which was very good. Lastly, I had a great Pina Colada that rounded everything out. I also have to mention that my Mom's potato looked so good that I ordered a loaded baked potato (with melted cheese and bacon bits) to go, to eat later with my leftover steak and broccoli. With all of that, the entire bill was $49. I recommend tipping well, because our waiter was fantastic. He took very good care of us. I also recommend giving the security guard a couple of dollars for watching the cars in the lot. Another customer around us ordered the hamburger/fries plate and someone else ordered a seafood dinner, and I'd love to come back and try those too. But since the steak prices are so good, I can't see ordering anything else. I will definitely be back! ETA: I am home eating the steak, hours later, and it's even more juicy and tender than it was in the restaurant! read more

If you don't know you NEED to know. A perfectly cut piece of meat cooked perfectly. My friends and I go all the time. WAYYYYY Cheap and wonderful. The steaks are wonderful, and the service is attentive. One stupid thing my friends always point out is that the fries are always hot. Nothing sits under a heat lamp. Go, just go! read more

Unbelievable steak. That's all I ever get along with a beer. Always go Delmonico. It's unreal how inexpensive it is for how good it is.

Been here a few times never disappointed with quality of food. Busy all the time. Biggest worry if my car will be there when I'm done. Great selection of steaks and as most people know price is market rate by the ounce. read more

Just sat on hold for 9 minutes one call, 8 minutes the next and another 8 minutes for the last call. The individual answering the phone each time said "hold" then immediately placed me on extended holds. I've been patronizing this restaurant since I was a child and the customer service has never been astounding but this experience was deplorable. I won't be eating here again because I certainly did not feel valued as a customer. read more

Good food and service. Visited on 5/1/19 with my husband, we both ordered medium rare 10 oz. filets, I got sautéed mushrooms and sautéed spinach, he got green beans and a loaded baked potato which we split. The filets were cooked to order and the sides were delicious. Our waitress was attentive. We left with a doggy bag. I have no complaints at all and will not hesitate to return. Kudos to the owners and managers for keeping this place as good as I remembered it. read more

Once upon a time, the steak was cheaper and the bread was better, but I still can't complain. One of the best opportunities for steak by the ounce in Metro Detroit. Look for the steak of choice on the discounted evenings. Just be safe! read more

This was my first time here. The chicken Monterey/rice pilaf was very good to me, but my wife did not like it too much, and said it was too bland. The kid loved his chili fries with cheese, the BBQ ribs were crap, ended up as cat food, very dry and meh, the fried shrimp were very large and tasty, but the French onion soup was too salty for us, with a Lipton FO box flavor. I have had much better French onion soup elsewhere. The barbecue chicken was passable.. I would go back, but would never order again the soup, ribs, or cole slaw. read more

Service outstanding one of my favorite spots to get a wonderful steak by the ounce. Recently remodeled looks fantastic beautiful pictures throughout. My mother highly recommended this place to her friends will return very soon . read more

This place is a "diamond in the rough". Finally had a chance to try it last weekend and thought the food, streaks, was great. Deborah was very helpful and courteous. Really don't want to write this review and tell everyone how good it is but again the atmosphere and service was great. read more

The service was terrible and the food. My steak sat on the counter for 20 minutes because I sat an watch it. Than she tried to bring it to me cold. Told her I didn't want it be they still had the nerve to charge me for the lil salad that I ate. Never again will I come to this little hole in the wall after driving 30 miles to get here read more

This place screams Detroit. Literally screams it in your face and I love it. From The crowd, to the pictures on the wall, to the super seasoned staff and the menu. There are very odd very interesting art pieces scattered around, including a print of a tyrannosaurus rex attempting to crawl up a woman's backside and a woman picking a wedgie. Seriously. Our server was super cute and awesome and she knew everything about the place. The alcoholic drink list is outstanding and unique, and the $9.50 " hummer" ice cream milkshake with liquor whatever init that she recommended was worth every cent. Now to the steak which is what this place is about.. It was good. I wouldn't Rave about it. It's cheap. It's good. The sauteed spinach comes with feta and tomatoes and is great. The baked potatoes are huge and delicious. The desserts look amazing and I will try every one, because I will be back over and over. Just not for the steak. Everyone should eat here. read more

Capers - T bone - Steakhouses Near Me - Detroit, Michigan

Not what I was expecting but the food was phenomenal. I had the 10 Oz Delmonico - it was like butter, so incredibly melty and flavorful- and the loaded baked potato which could have been a meal all by itself. My bf's southern fried catfish was light and tasty. We'll definitely be back. read more

Worst time ever. Went to capers last night . orderd 24 ounce tbone broccoli n cheese. T-bone came and it was wet dull brown like it had been boiled no seasoning and luke warm. Broccoli was cold and soggy with nacho cheese sauce. Sent it all back and left. O yeah their price has risen astronomically steak prices are no longer posted by per ounce price. Tey now charge elegant steakhouse prices for golden corral steaks. read more

Went on a Tuesday night. No waiting at approx. 7pm - 4 of us were seated right away. Great staff, great food. I had the 6 oz. filet with 'shrooms and onions and it was great. I also had the French onion soup which was very good and the rice pilaf was perfectly cooked. I also tried their coleslaw, the bacon, chili, cheese fries - fried appetizers were good (mushrooms, cheese balls, wings). They give you so much food, you must try your friends food and let them try yours. LOL! Great atmosphere, service and food. No issues. When we were leaving there was a line of about 10 people waiting to get in (at about 8:30pm). Small place, small parking lot that includes a security guard just in case. :-) read more

Great, as always! Out for my birthday with my BF! Saturday during March Madness. 30 minute wait but waited about 15 minutes and chatted with other waiting guests before 2 seats became available the bar - even better! Bartender was awesome and friendly! Drinks tasty and strong. Food was delicious and delivered timely with great presentation. I had a great time that night and Capers was an awesome start to the evening! read more

Oh my god for the price this place is unbeatable! Also it's not the first thing you think of but try the salmon it's super. Also crazy drink specials every day I think, at least every time I go in read more

This is my go to place when I'm in Detroit. Found this great steakhouse by accident. Do not let the location run you off. Might not be in the best of locations, but once inside all your fears will disappear. There is only 19 tables & a bar that seats 8. Expect to wait for a table, especially after 6:00. On my first visit I had Lisa as my server. She explained the menu thoroughly to me & how everything is a la cart. She made me feel right at ease with her recommendations. I ordered an 16oz Ribeye w/loaded baked potato with an order of garlic bread with cheese. Everything came out rather quickly. The steak was done exactly how I liked it. The potato was hot. The cheese & bacon toppings with the butter & sour cream was delicious. Lisa continued to know the exact time to check on me & filled my drink w/o me having to wave her over. It was then that I was hooked on this place. I have been back many times. Have not found anything on the menu that I would not order again from steaks, ribs, giant nachos, fish, huge shrimp & of course the French onion soup. When you go make sure you find Lisa. Tell her that Doug recommended this place, she'll treat you right. read more

The options are unlimited! The food is great and the specials by far surpass anywhere else. To be able to pay by the ounce is a rare thing. I love that this is still a hidden gem. While i hope their business continues to thrive, i worry about it changing when the hipsters get to it. read more

Very good food. I ordered the steak, loaded potato and French onion soup. The soup was perfect, lots of onions and cheese and just the right amount of salt. My steak was surprisingly tender and juice with great seasoning as well. And my baked potato was good. I absolutely recommend trying this location. read more

Was tod about this place and decided to try it, and glad I did! Super good ribs, sauce, steaks good and friendly staff. Prices are great for what you get! We go here often now! read more

My friend recommended this place so we went. Not so happy with going to 7 mile and gratiot at night, but it was nice to see they have security. Been here for about 45 minutes, customer service has a lot to be desired. You would think with people waiting to get a table they would be quick to serve you and get you in and out. Like the atmosphere, and like the place. The food was ok, and I will give them another chance. I did like the fact that they served my Pepsi in a huge mug. I will probably go back, and hopefully get better service. read more

Great customer service, great food, great prices! The atmosphere is very relaxed and casual.

They have the best steaks. The steaks are well seasoned without being over seasoned and very tender. I've eaten them without the need of a knife at times. read more

This by far is my husband and I favorite steakhouse! The prices are amazing and don't think the steak lacks quality because of this. We usually get a 12oz Delmonico medium /w onions and mushrooms and loaded potato skins. The raspberry margarita is also my favorite! This place reminds you of cheers, but they sell amazing steaks! I only gave it four stars because it small and you will have to stand right over people while there eating to wait on a table. read more

Best steak place in the city. Cozy and very laid back atmosphere. The baked potatoes are amazing.

Great food, service could be better. You're not from Detroit, if you've never had Capers. I'll just leave it at that.

Casual, cheap, friendly service and the prices! $8.40 for a T-bone and we got the steak bites free because they didn't come out with my boyfriend's meal (had to wait about 15 minutes for them). Also, the French onion soup was a bit too salty for my liking. Overall, an iconic place in the D and would go back again. read more

Found this restaurant by searching best steak houses in Detroit. Husband and I went on a Saturday evening. Only waited 10 min at 6:30 pm. Like others have said, you should expect to wait, but it goes pretty fast. The cocktails are fabulous. I had the Rasberry daqari and didn't realize it was huge....I mean huge 45 ounces, but delicious. We both got the Delmonico steak. It was prepared perfectly. You can choose any sides. Everything is ala carte. Prices are very reasonable and less than I had expected. You can also bring the kiddos, they have hamburgers, hotdogs and nachos. The whole family would be happy. Only down side is the neighborhood is sketchy but the parking area does have security. All in all, I would recommend and will definitely go back again read more

Great steaks. 18 ounce New York strip was about $15. Great quality meat. Cool atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

16oz Delmonico was cooked to perfection, Juicy and flavorful. Paired it with sauteed onions and mushrooms. Try the Sauteed spinach which is prepared with garlic and feta. Very good. Service was fantastic and the price and quality of steak cannot be beat. read more

This is one place that has withstood its place in time. The owners have been in place f o r over 30 years and the quality and consistency of their food is always a priority. Despite the neighborhood being sketchy at best, they continue to fill the place with an urban and suburban crowd. One of Detroit's little gems. read more
