Usually very good. Not this time. Ordered online. Two points for making some food - of which the fish and slaw alone were edible - on time. But oh my! What happened to the frying oil, and why is that employee at the driveup so surly? He said something we couldn't understand at the driveup microphone, then handed over the food without a single word, not even repeating the order or anything, scowling the whole time. Was he trying to wordlessly warn us not to eat what was in that bag? The hushpuppies were actually inedible: there had black and deep brown crumbs around the outside that were oil-leaking all over the plate, and were so hard they could break a tooth. I cut that stuff off to try the inside but that part was tastless and greasy too - except for one flavor that stood out: OLD OIL. The okra was ruined: soggy as if it had been boiled and then rolled in some sort of soggy batter that was oil-logged and smelly like...... Ollllllllld Oil. My husband got fries and didn't eat them after trying a couple. Soggy, pasty on the inside, no flavor, "not worth eating, yuck" was his comment as he tossed them in the trash with the "pasty tasteless mush" that was the mac and cheese. The fish wasn't "wow, I want that again" but it was edible. The outside batter had black and dark brown flecks from the old oil but the flavor wasn't horrible. It was VERY greasy - but I'd just returned from a long drive and we just wanted something quick. Sooooo, we got the oil off the rish in two different ways: I squeezed my fish in paper towel - had to repeat this just once - and my husband took the outside stuff entirely off of his fish, and we had the coleslaw with it. November 15, 2025. I had brought my daughter with me to try out the restaurant (my family had ordered food from this location several times). Had a wonderful counter person (I couldn't read his name on the receipt), time of day 11:39am. The young man greeted us with a genuine smile and was very patient helping us place our order. The food was great, and the young man checked on us a couple times to make sure all was ok. He cheerfully answered questions and made sure we had everything we needed. Somehow I made a mistake and posted this review on a Captain D's in Georgia, it was Oct 11 2024. I used to love this place. The food was always good and it was hot. Today the cole slaw was clearly not fresh, my fish and my fries were cold, and the orders have been made smaller as well (i never could finish the 4 piece, today I did). I ordered okra, got home to find coleslaw. At least my wifes cat fish was warm, much better than my cold fish and very cold fries.. Wondering if this food gets cooked and they just wait for someone to order it. This is the second time I've been disappointed there. read more

Went here for the first time today. I ordered the sampler and a cup of seafood gumbo. Everything was cooked to order so you have to wait a few minutes, but the food was fresh which I appreciate. I'd much rather wait and get good food and not something sitting in a heat lamp. The batter on the fish was the perfect saltiness. The chicken had a nice flavor and good crunch. I drove by here a few weeks ago, and noticed this new addition. I've seen Captain D's elsewhere, but not local. They have a really good menu selection, and good sides with a really good cole slaw. Everything was fresh and tasty. They're just new so they don't show up on the corporate website and can't take the rewards card yet. They closed unexpectedly due to licensing issues and was never opened again. I seen this location a few months ago and decided to travel 30 minutes to try. Ordered the fish and chicken with fries and hush puppies. Fish was very greasy. Extremely greasy as if they cooked it awhile ago and when a order is placed they drop it back in grease to imitate freshly fried fish. Same for the chicken as well. It wasn't until our last bite that we read on the packaging that they established in 1969. They had many years to perfect their cuisine. I ordered the battered fish filets and it arrived on a bed of crunchy batter. This detail ensured that my fish stayed crunchy on the outside from the first to last bite. All food arrived HOT. Friend and I visited around 5:30/6ish on Sat, Jan 27. The young man taking orders, Treyvon, was doing an excellent job. While we were inside ordering our food (to go), he kept his composure while having to deal with a "Karen", complaining about not getting her receipt. While I can understand the frustration of not getting one, and very real fear of identity theft, her threats to call corporate and get him fired and the restaurant shut down were way over the top. She was making a huge scene. Treyvon handled himself well, trying to assist her while also waiting on an increasing number of people in the lobby. We didn't get to see the end of the show, as our food was prepared quickly, so we exited to partake at home. All prepared to order and was delicious. After eating here, we learned that the "D" in captain D's must stand disgusting or disappointment... To start off the meals were way over priced for what you get and they don't come with a drink. Then when we got our food the chicken was extremely dry, the fish was so over cooked that it was just a small chunk of meat inside a over fried batter shell and it was rubbery. The corn on the Cobb was cooked right but only tasted like boiled water. Then the Gumbo which had a good flavor and a bunch of undercooked rice which was hard and crunchy. The best thing I had in my meal was the 2 hush puppies included. Please save your money and your stomach and avoid this place. I should've known better than to eat at a place where the parking lot and drive thru is always empty. read more

There are few fish & Chips carryouts and this is one of the best. Because of Covid there is no indoor dining but the drive thru is great. Big menu boards in the drive thru so you can see what you can order. Prices are reasonable. I ordered the two piece cod with 2 sides (fries and cole slaw - both tasty. The fries are like steak fries and they are good too eat with the malt vinegar yum! Be sure to tell them you want the malt vinegar when you order. They tasted great. The batter on the fish was crispy. I recommend this place. I have been back there 2 more times. The staff are friendly and willing to try to make sure that you get exactly what you want.
