Service was great here. Our waitress taylor had such a hard time with this crazy rude table that wanted just to complain about everything. Then some other person literally kicked a chair at her because she didn't jump right when she didn't stop what she was doing to get (said privilege person) a togo container when she wasn't even their waitress. The only bad experience about this dinner were other customers who don't know how to act in public! We ordered the all you can eat crab legs which were big and juicy and hot each time they came out to us. The bake potatoes we both ordered were also big ones and loaded with butter just how we wanted with sour cream on the side. Our drinks tasted good as well and you could taste the alcohol ..with the all you can eat you do not have to just get the crab legs, you can switch to other dinner items like the salmon, chicken alfredo, etc. But for $75 per person we eating them crab legs lol..... The place looks a bit dated, I won't lie, but the food and service made up for that. I did the $65 AYCE Crablegs. I made a salad at the salad bar and all of it tasted fresh. It was clean and all the items on the salad bar were well stocked. I ordered a baked potato to go with my crablegs, but I was not there to eat potato, I was all about the crab. I ate a bit of the potato and it was a potato. lol The crab! The crab was very clean, sweet, and the shells cleaned easily. The server kept the crab coming! It was so good. I've driven by this place place a countless number of times and only now have bucked up and actually tried it... The interior is a little dated, but the murals are super cool and everything looked really nice and clean. Our server was AMAZING and explained the menu... Do me a favor and just get the all you can eat crab. You'll get all the crab legs you want AND anything else on the all you can eat menu AND unlimited trips to the salad bar. I ordered a combo of the 12oz strip and 1 crab cluster and I added a cluster and that came with one trip to the salad bar... I ordered my steak medium rare and it was a bit undercooked. I've seen others complain about this, so just order medium if you want medium rare I guess? The steak itself was really good, and the crab was great! Everything was hot and presented well. No complaints other than the temp of my steak. My wife got the AUCE crab and only sampled the London Broil other than the crab and it was great! Our server brought out multiple plates of crab without asking and was super attentive. The salad bar was clean and everything looked/tasted fresh, and I usually hate salad bars, but this was actually really nice. I saw them replenish multiple items multiple times, so I felt like everything was in order. Bar service was quick, out server was amazing and the food was outstanding! Maybe a little expensive depending on the day.. AUCE crab was $65, but well worth it in my opinion and I regret not getting that so I could try a little of everything. This was my first time here with my wife, her first as well. My mother talked about going to Harbor House when she was pregnant with me 40 years ago and having the same all you can eat crab! On the food, it was excellent! 3 out of 4 of us got the AYCE Crab Legs and they didn't not disappoint! We all had 4-6 rounds of 2 or 3 cluster each. Never had to wait to ask for more, they just kept bringing them out at the perfect time! My wife got the AYCE but no crab as she allergic to shellfish. She started with the fresh perch and it was awesome! A crisp, light breading that was golden brown! Her second dish was the ribs! The sauce was a little sweet for her liking but still good! The service was a little slow at first but this was due to a very large party that was just getting served when we arrived. Would definitely go back!!!! read more

When you walk in the decor is very cool. The mural throughout the restaurant is gorgeous. It definitely makes you feel "under the sea." Jessica our server is wonderful. The wait staff work extremely hard running food out to tables since it's all you can eat. They do a great job at making sure there's always food on our plate. We normally get all you can eat, but their dinner specials are cheap and great too. I love the salmon, London broil, crab, and lobster. They have really good frog legs too. The salad bar is clean and has a nice selection of soups and "hot items". They have a great bar and make a lot of good specialty drinks. They need to either change the name or close down the other Harbor House in Detroit because it truly does not hold the reputation and give the name the respect it deserves at their location! The food is overpriced and not good! The menu doesn't match and the service is always horrible! I walked out of the other location to drive to Groesbeck because I refused to accept the low service value! Upon my arrival, we were greeted by Mignon (not sure if I spelled it right) but she was simply AWESOME! She was friendly, pleasant, attentive and she made sure she kept those refills coming for our AYCE items! She made sure our drinks were refilled in a timely manner and just overall ensured our satisfaction. Salad bar was filled and fresh, I love me a good salad bar so this was one of my favorite parts about it! Love the full bar experience as well! The ambiance is always good! She made sure we enjoyed everything, if something wasn't up to par! Five of us dined at Harbor House. I think three will return and two won't. I am one of the two who will not. The server was very friendly but had not been fully trained. He did not know how to open a bottle of wine among other things. Three of us ordered the salmon with a special sauce and baked potato. The baked potatoes were hard due to not being fully cooked and the toppings we ordered were missing. The salmon was not even warm and had the wrong sauce. Two people ordered the prime rib and said it was very good. It also looked good and I wish I had ordered that instead of the salmon. We all liked the bread. We went here recently 01/07/24 for my birthday and everything was perfect! They have a really great all you can eat deal for 35 bucks! The service was wonderful! Joe our waiter definitely earned his tip. He was very professional and polite and funny. The atmosphere was very relaxed and we really enjoyed taking pictures underneath the giant swordfish. We went to this restaurant because we were looking for a salad bar. This one was alright - I'd be curious what hot items are included outside of thanksgiving time. The flavor of everything we ate was perfect, although my piece of salmon was pretty small. I will say that while we were there, the man at the table next to us was extremely angry and ended up walking out when our food was delivered and no one had even come to take his family's order yet. Our service was wonderful, and I'm not sure what was going on there. As far as ambiance, the first thing you will notice when you walk into this place is the stunning mural work on every surface. We were very excited to try the all you can eat crab for my sons birthday. Came in on a Wednesday around 5:30pm. The waiter was super chill and helpful about menus options. The salad bar was okay good ranch dressing but nothing special. The hot bar was not very good the soups were gloopy and not very flavorful. The mac n cheese was okay but again nothing special. We walked in and the hostess actually looked annoyed when I asked if we could sit on the bar side of the restaurant. Our waiter was not friendly or cheery, had zero recommendations and just acted as if he was going through the motions. After we ordered I think our waiter just assumed we knew our meals included a trip to the salad bar. He left came back and said" you can go get a salad". Um ok. It was never mentioned. Just bizarre. The salad bar was good, so was the bread. I ordered my shrimp steamed, it came deep fried. My beer came in a glass and looked as if someone drank half of it on the way to the table and I paid for a bottle. Our friends cod was chewy, and our waiter suddenly became friendly in the parking lot as we were leaving. We never complained, but if we are going to pay $165 for a meal plus a tip, We expect more. Love going to this place the first time was 34 years ago and I'm still going. It's been redecorated, but the owners are the same. I met their mom and the two brothers who now run the place. Of course it was a lot cheaper back then, the menu hasn't changed much. I don't like the downtown location. It's about 30 minutes from my house but it's worth the drive to me. They could use an upgrade in the restrooms though looks like it hasn't been touched in a while. They're clean but that's about it. The waiters are always nice and polite. I haven't been here in since I was a kid but I saw a Tik Tok about the AYCE crab legs and it looked decent so we went. Our server was Jessica and she was attentive, nice and kept the crab coming. We never had to ask for her to bring more. She would just keep bringing it out. I can imagine that if it was a busier evening you may have to wait but I don't know for sure. You can also switch what you want from order to order. If you don't want crab after a few rounds you can get shrimp, ribs, chicken or fish prepared various ways since they're included in the AYCE. It's decent crab. Not great but for AYCE it was good. The salad bar was clean and fresh and had a few soups. They bring fresh bread which was really tasty. I had some shrimp scampi along with my crab which was decent. My husband had a burger and said it was good. My teens are big seafood lovers so for $55 they can eat all they want and it's good deal. I happily ate myself into oblivion! We had a new server who started that day so not sure if the service is always this good with the other servers but ours was very attentive and kept the legs a-comin', just like I like it! As for the decor, it was dated, worn and poorly lit for my taste. I did a little research before going here and the price as advertised on the websites I visited was $50, upon arrival I saw they had raised it to $60 according to the menu prices. This was my first visit to Harbor House and I was not disappointed. The food was great and it was an overall great customer experience. I ordered the Time Bandit which is a 12 oz New York Strip with a Crab Cluster, choice of potato, and a trip to the soup and salad bar. I ordered my steak with sautéed onions and mushrooms and they really loaded it up! The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The baked potato was hot and fluffy, my wife ordered hers loaded and it was loaded! The salad bar was stocked and had other option like Mac and cheese. The star of my meal was the crab leg cluster! They tasted so good. The sweet crab meat taste with a subtle saltiness that made me craving more! They also have real good dinner specials and some all you can eat options including an all you can eat crab leg dinner that I will be returning for! I thought the price points were more than fair. A great value for what I got. The staff were very friendly. They were quick! Kept our drinks refilled. They got our food out fast and checked back to make sure everything was good. They also paid attention and got our bill out and closed fast! I will definitely be returning to Harbor House! One member was charged for a salad bar they never ordered, one ordered carry out and didn't get part of the meal, one was charged for pop they never ordered....the worst part the manager would not make any of this right!!! We ended up paying almost $400!!!! for a meal for 12 which included 3 small children that was not worth even $100!!! Do not go here! I met with a friend at the Harbor House a couple of weeks ago, Bc she had been wanting to for the all you can eat crab legs, bc of the special pricing on Monday's. I had been to this location once before 3 years ago, and I remember not totally being satisfied at all with the food, or the service. However; I felt I would try again as that was a long time ago. I believe I was left more disappointed in my recent visit, than I was 3 years ago. So, upon walking in (I went at 6:00 pm, the day after Mother's Day). The restaurant looked trashed, like old napkins and food under tables, seats were dirty, and my table was actually dirty. I glanced over at the salad bar, and soup station, the food looked like it had been sitting out for some time. So that was the first time off. My waitress greeted me, and took my drink order. I told her I was waiting for a friend; however; I knew that we both were ordering the all you can eat crab legs. So i asked her if she could put the order in now, that would be fine. The waitress explained that she could. So bought bread out, and told me I could help myself to the salad bar. Just as I was going to text my friend to maybe pick another restaurant option, Bc it seemed like the restaurant was all out of wack, she walked in. My friend showed up about 25 minutes later, and the waitress actually had not been back. Once my friend arrived, the waitress came back to take her drink order. We still waited about 15 more minutes for crab legs. And once the crab legs were out, she gave us a small plate, explaining more would come, but no buckets, no nothing else. I had ordered a baked potato as a side, and asked for fried mushrooms. That literally took 20 more minutes, on top of the 40 minutes I had already been there. The waitress kept blaming the cooks, and the fact that the restaurant was so swamped the day before due to Mother's Day. And that was the reason why the orders were going so slow. Anyway; this pattern of the food coming out slowly continued for another hour. My friend ordered Prime Rib and never received it, I ordered fried shrimp, finally received my order of shrimp as we were wrapping up. And as the waitress did bring out more crab legs, the butter I had hardened. It was such a disaster! To pay $45.99, or whatever the discounted price is on Mondays, for the lackluster service and the food was mediocre. Definitely not worth another trip to give it another shot. I'm more of disappointed that the waitress continued to use the excuse as to why everything was delayed Bc of Mother's Day, which was the day before. My server Ashley was all that and more, she was very attentive to my crab leg addiction she made sure my plate was full at all times and kept my glass full. This place actually reminds me a little of one of my childhood favorites growing up on the east coast, a chain called Chesapeake Bay Seafood House. Yes, you can get a single order of something...but that's not why you come here. You come here to pay $39.99 to get access to the entire All You Can Eat menu and go nuts. The $39.99 is the top of the food chain here, crab legs. Once you order these, you can get as much as you want of anything else on the menu. Shrimp. Scallops. Chicken marsala. Pork chops, either barbecued or breaded and smothered. And a whole host of other options as well. Now, I dinged them one star for one simple reason - they advertise and heavily promote alaskan crab legs...but they're not alaskan KING crab legs. And let's be honest, they know that's what people think when they see "Alaskan Crab Legs", and so they know that's a draw...but all things being equal, the crab legs they do have and serve are well prepared, sweet, and I'm pretty sure I hurt myself with my third plate of them after sampling some of the other options and wanting to go back for more crab legs. Drink prices are reasonable...though the beer selection isn't really all that great. If they brought in a few local microbrews, it would really be a spot that I'd want to go back to more often...but what they have doesn't suck, so it's passable.
