My husband and I ate here on a Saturday evening around 5:15. It was easy to get a table, this place is very large. Our server, I think her name was Anna, was very attentive. We ordered the "Big F'ing Pretzel" appetizer, and it came with nacho cheese and honey mustard. This was delicious! I ordered a burger that had barbecue sauce and bleu cheese on it. It was good, 7/10. My husband had the clam chowder and rated it 6/10. There were a lot of kids there, so if kids bother you, don't go there. We were there for a wake Saturday. The food was horrible. The Mostaccioli was tasteless. The oven potatoes were soggy and seemed old. The green beans were way under steamed, hard to bite. We hosted our baby shower in the upstairs event space 5 years ago and it was amazing. The recent dining experience has changed. No more blueberry muffin with the salad. Portions seem small. Nice they have a children's menu but the $2 upcharge to add cheese to a kids burger seems excessive. Server disappeared for a while although restaurant was nearly empty (Tuesday night). Stoped in on a weekend for dinner during the holiday season. It wasn't nearly as busy as we thought it would be. We started with a Maurice salad to share with some beers. The salad came without the sweet pickles so we had to ask him to bring some out, he brought a whole bowl! Then I got the fish and chips and subbed sweet potato fries and my friend got the shepherds pie. The fish and chips were great! The tartar sauce and coleslaw weren't very good though. The shepherds pie was delicious as well! We ended the meal with the 3 piece chocolate chip cookies and a Spanish coffee. The cookies were so ooey gooey delicious! Service was also on point. My family visited last Friday for our Easter dinner since our daughter had to work the weekend. I previously gave a 5 star rating, but this experience was much different. I ordered an express martini, which was very weak and I could nearly see through the glass. My daughter ordered potato chip walleye at my suggestion. The walleye looked very different from previous visits, the potato chips were pulverized to dust, the worst part was it tasted as if it had been marinated in a vinegar based marinate, it didn't taste like walleye. This is such a hidden gem! We made reservations ahead of time and had our table ready for us upon arrival. The vibe is casual and decorated like a hunter's lodge with lots of antlers and animal heads on the walls. I ordered the Lemon Artichoke Chicken and hubby had the Brie and Apple Grilled Cheese. The chicken dish is really good - nice flavor combination - and the portion is perfect. It's a light meal, meaning, you won't feel weighed down after you eat. The sandwich was also good - I love the tastes of the brie cheese, apples, walnut and honey all together. This is local for us so we enjoy coming here. I've tried a few different things on the menu - I really like that many of their offerings are Michigan-based ingredients. We will be back! read more

I ate here nearly every week for over a decade and always enjoyed the place when golfing here. My family has some good memories here and booked a dinner. Our first visit since new ownership was mixed results. We were seated quickly and service was without any issues. The menu is both less interesting and a little more expensive.. One dish our table ordered (harvest salad with chicken) was solid. Chicken artichoke was over sauced and not great, green beans slathered in butter and over cooked and the roasted redskins weren't redskins, over cooked and over salted. Jerk chicken pasta was heavy handed and drowning in the sauce. When I can make better tasting and healthier versions of these and never worked in the industry, it's a not coming back anytime soon. read more

We waited for our meals over :45 minutes. I had Guinness beer. That was a watered down, carbonated drink. Zero stars for the beer. Food was mediocre. Service was very poor. I think we are all familiar with this place, whether it's because we've driven by it, heard of it or saw it on Yelp. I finally said "fine, I'll go here!!!" yesterday to see what everyone's talking about. It's backed up to a golf course, so I can only imagine it might have been started for the golfers to come in and get hammered at, if they've already not done that while golfing. Parkings mixed in with the golf course, so be prepared to park far away. It most definitely has a cabin feel to it, and I loved the feel. But I also felt like it was more of a bridal shower/baby shower/random event space versus a dine in type place. I don't dislike it, but considering how much the food cost and how I felt about the food afterwards, it didn't seem to really match up. The menus decent enough with a variety of items to choose from, but for, on average, $20 a person, I felt like it was maybe a bit overpriced. My friend didn't like her soup, and for $8.50, my French Onion soup was good, but probably not house made, and on the smaller end. Service was good, but I also felt like the quality of food for the price could've been better for the cost. I think they have filet Mignon here, for a whopping $41. Soup and a burger was what I got, and that was about $22 something plus tip. I don't want to sound like a cheap person, because I'm not, but I've had similar priced meals and walked away feeling more satisfied then I did here. This review is based on the decline of Camp Ticonderoga since new ownership. This used to be our Go-to for group gatherings. I have visited here two times in the last month, thinking that the first visit was a one-off. But my second visit was even worse. Prices have increased and portions have shrunk. Today, the Maurice salad was served on a dinner plate. Very small. Everyone at the table commented on the little size of the entree salad. The Apple Brie cheese sandwich no longer has thinly sliced crunchy apples. It is smeared with super sweet gloppy canned apple pie filling. The Cajun pasta no longer comes with Texas toast. The harvest salad no longer comes with a delicious blueberry muffin. The chocolate chip cookies are no longer buttery hot out of the oven. The are gummy premade cookies that are microwave heated. And you pay $9 for only 3 cookies. So if you have a table of 4, you'll have to double the order and pay $18 for horrible cookies. Anyhow, after coming here for years, we are sadly retiring this restaurant out of our lineup and we'll figure out a new place to gather for group get togethers. read more

Recently under new ownership but I thought the food was better than I remember it being in the past. Interior looks the same, service is iffy but fine. We had the French onion soup (amazing), the Maurice salad (not a very nice looking plate but so good), and 2 steaks (1 overcooked, 1 undercooked). For dessert, our friend who recently had a birthday got a free cookie sundae which was simple and delicious, we also shared a crème brûlée cheesecake which was amazing. I tasted my way around the table tonight with my dining companions after hearing their unhappiness. Jerk chicken pasta - somebody got excited with the nutmeg (and also the sugar). Nutmeg was the only flavour in this dish. Well, maybe there were some nuances I missed, but it was impossible between the nutmeg. I'm pretty sure the gravy on the buffalo meatloaf (which was great by the way) was powdered. The green beans were properly cooked and fresh. ...for the worst bit, I'll just leave a single picture. It was ordered as a "ribeye, medium rare." I'm pretty sure it was freaking boiled. Other reviewers mention new owners? As many have mentioned, our service at Camp Ticonderoga greatly decreased with new management. PLEASE consider the local Alibi pizza instead! We've had bad experiences before between being forgotten about and the wrong food being delivered, but I believe this was our very last time. There were very few people in the restaurant at 5 PM on a Sunday (only 6 tables, maybe). My sister's napkin and wrapped silverware were dirty, like someone had already used them. We were seated by a very polite hostess and promptly forgotten about for 20 minutes as our waitress walked around, helping the tables around us. As we were getting ready to leave, the same waitress apologized, saying she didn't know who was going to be servicing our table, hence the delay. We ordered drinks and food all at once, given we had had our coats on thirty seconds before and didn't want to delay. Our drinks took ten minutes alone, our food maybe forty? The food here is good, but nothing special. We were not checked on during our meal until two of our party of four were done with our food, and our drinks were not refilled. Our waitress said our dessert would be comped, though I can't help but wonder how many people order dessert in the first place to make this an effective olive branch. Midway through our meal, the hostess seated a party at a dirty table, which was alarming considering how few tables there were in comparison to the size of the restaurant. The main draw for this restaurant is definitely the golf course and I imagine it draws on a certain category of people, given the intentionally outdated, Bass Pro Shop aesthetic inside. I used to like this place, but I'm made to feel like a burden to the waitstaff and kitchen. I understand many businesses are understaffed, but this wasn't that. read more

This is a review of their dining in one of their igloos. I have done this the last few winters with the Meetup group I belong. But to get one, you have to reserve it in August because the days and time slots fill up quickly. You have to leave your credit card number and promise that your group will spend $250 in food and drinks. 10 people fit around the table. They do have a couple of heaters and blankets if needed. Dressing normal winter warm clothes and don't sit near the door, you will be fine. One of the servers have to adjust the heater. Food is still good but average. All liked their choices, but we had to ask for a bread basket which use to come out with out asking. Service is what you expect when there is a 2 hr. time limited on the dinner. The place was sold last summer to a new owner but not much has changed. Close parking is still tight but it is a short walk to the large parking area. I will probably be back next winter with the group. It one of our traditions that is popular with our members. read more

An interesting building does not overcome inattentive service, bad food, and a manager who could not care any less than she does. I have been to Camp Ti many times in past 10 years and enjoyed great dinners on the back patio. Until the current ownership changes, I will not be back. read more

Seven of us were going to celebrate Christmas Eve at this restaurant at Noon. We were told we needed to make a reservation and without one we would have to wait 1 and 1/2 hours. The place was empty. We have been celebrating for over 30 years with our group and never had to make reservations for lunch on Christmas Eve. Needless to say we called Griffin Claw in Rochester. They were awesome and no reservations needed. Don't bother with the Camp. They obviously don't want the business. read more

This was supposed to be a rare date night for my wife and me--something that takes real planning when you have two young kids, a babysitter, and limited time. Instead, it was an absolute waste of an evening. We had a 6:15 pm reservation and arrived at 6:00. We were told to wait until 6:15, which was fine. We went to the bar and sat there for 30 minutes without a single bartender acknowledging us. Not even a "we'll be right with you." While I went to check on our reservation, I received an OpenTable email saying it had been canceled. When I asked the hostess what was going on, she casually explained that the manager was canceling reservations because they were "getting full." Somehow, seconds later, a two-top magically appeared and we were seated--no explanation, no apology. After sitting another 10-15 minutes without being greeted, our server finally came over and told us it was just "a really busy night" and management was "figuring things out." At that point, we ordered everything at once just hoping to salvage the night. The drinks were terrible. I ordered a smoked Old Fashioned, which they couldn't smoke because they "didn't have the stuff." What I received was overly strong, flavorless, and basically a glass of diluted ice. We were told there were only two bartenders, one of whom was brand new--again, not our problem as paying customers. The food was outright disgusting. The jerk chicken had zero resemblance to jerk chicken--it looked and tasted like plain pre-cooked grilled chicken, and the pasta served with it was cold and inedible. My wife took one bite and stopped. My pot roast was cold, hard, burnt, and tasted old. It was impossible to eat. We were also told we couldn't make simple substitutions, which forced my wife into an entrée she otherwise wouldn't have ordered. That alone should've been a red flag. What makes this even more disappointing is that Camp Ticonderoga used to be a place we loved. It was known for good, home-style food in a great setting. With new ownership, that reputation is completely gone. The atmosphere may still look the same, but the service, food quality, and management are broken. Between the babysitter cost, the expectation of being in and out on a schedule, and how rare nights like this are for us, this experience was beyond frustrating. my son and his family took me out to dinner last Sunday to enjoy a good meal together. There were four of us. I had ordered the lightly breaded pan fried Lake perch. My son does not like to complain to restaurants, even if you do not receive what you ordered so I did not say anything. What I was given was a flat piece of some kind of fish. I'm not sure which, green beans that were very old and shriveled up and burnt potatoes. I did enjoy my coleslaw. Easter dinner was a disaster. My $40 salmon dinner was burnt without glaze as it was on the menu . Mashed potatoes were without any thing (I asked for butter and never got it), just dry potatoes and the green beans were cold. My granddaughter was devastated when they wouldn't make her a cheese burger ( it was on the kids menu). My wife was told when she made our reservations we could order off the regular menu, that was a lie. She asked because she just had dental surgery and can only eat a limited menu. We all opted for Happy Hour on cocktails. The large chalkboard proclaimed "Alex Wines" are 1/2 off. The first selection under WINES is Alex's Prosecco. When our bill arrived without the discount we thought it was an oversight. The server wasn't sure what to do. We asked for the manager, Iris was not a friendly aura. This didn't go well. Called on two occasions to make a reservation for 10 people for lunch and another group of 14 people for lunch. We're all senior citizens and we are good customers and friendly tippers. Both groups have been there several times in the past few years for lunch. The management has a new policy that says we can't do separate checks if our party is above 6 people. Like I said we've been there several times and always paid with separate checks. Most restaurants have the technology to provide everyone with their own bill. Told our waitress we wanted our salad first and that we were splitting our meals. Meanwhile our drinks came and 45 minutes later out comes all of our food. Tried to explain it to the server but she had no clue on what to do. Asked to take our meals back since we were going to eat our salad and had no room on the table. We also asked for a plate so we could split the salad and she brought us a desert plate. Again tried to explain that we were splitting the salad and she never returned. Meanwhile, out main dishes came back quite some time later and again asked for a plate since we were splitting the meals between us. Again brought a desert plate and had to explain that we needed a dinner plate. She was quite confused. At this time we asked for our waitress and she never came so I had to seek her out. We explained our dissapointment to her and order a round of drinks. Those never came, the Buffaloaf we order; the meal was spoiled and decided enough was enough. At this point, both of us are mad, got up and aked for a manager and explained our distaste. She explain that they were very busy. I looked around and there were about 5 tables with people. We came here for my birthday dinner. We wanted to try it after driving by several times. We were sat by the window and were able to watch the golfers, which was fun. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip, which came out very hot! It was very delicious and even had tomatoes on top. I ordered the lemon artichoke chicken, which was also very delicious! I wish it came with a little more sauce because the sauce was so good. I ordered mashed potatoes with it and the plate came with roasted potatoes, but they fixed it quickly. My husband said afterwards it was terrible, dried out and tough. He should have sent it back. Two of us had the fried perch and we both agreed it was dry and not good. Review of Camp Ticonderoga on Rochester Rd in Troy. This is Oakland county. No pictures, sorry. Atmosphere: 9/10. It is a beautiful old lodge with tongue and groove paneling, fireplaces and cute rustic vibe. Service: 2.5/10. We arrived and no one was at the hostess stand. We waited about 3 minutes before an old woman came because the phone was ringing off the hook. I said we were 3 and please no hi-top since one was handicapped. She snapped at me and said they don't have hi-tops. Well, from the door where we were standing all we could see was a HI-TOP! She very grumpily led us to a table. I asked if we could more closer to the fireplace and she was very angry and said it was for a 10 top. Um, the table sat 4 and there were open tables everywhere. We weren't even on the same level as the fireplace. So I wasn't sure what the problem was. During our time there, she stomped around like a bull in a China shop. She moved a table without clearing it, dropping the centerpiece and there was broken glass everywhere. She snapped at another patron that was trying to help her pick up the metal pieces. After we had eaten, they were still not busy, she came to us and said how are we doing on time? She wants the table for a request. Again, there were open tables all around us, even if there was a larger party, there were 5 open tables around us. The hostess gets 0/10. She should not be doing that job. Our server gets 5/10. He got the job done. Nothing special. Just the bare minimum. Food: 8/10. There were 3 of us. We each got the French onion soup which was rather blah. It was not rich, nor did it have a lot of onion. It needed seasoning for sure. Glad there was salt on the table. Two of us had the Maurice salad. It came with a muffin which was excellent. I had never had one before and thought it was very good. The other person thought it was good, but not as good as Macy's used to have. My husband ordered the Bison burger. He said it was cooked properly, but it was just OK. They serve it without any kind of dressing. He asked and received a side of homey mustard and that made it better. The homemade fries were quite good. Overall 6/10. Would I go back? Best steak and food everrr!!!! Our waiter cody the best! So kind and quick with our order the dish decorated with delicacy . Attention and love was put into our plate. The manager is the kindest, always greets with a warm smile. The view and ambiance is very nice, I recommend the outside patio where you can play golf and have fun as well as just eat and enjoy the sunset with the fairy lights making a magical statement.
