We had to get up early before driving home and our friends suggested to get breakfast there. Even if it was early on a Sunday morning, there were already a bunch of people. Clearly, they have their regulars and I wish I could be one of them. The staff there is very nice and checked on us multiple times for refills and such. The menu is exactly what you would expect for this type of place (in the best way). The prices are very good too. Not sure how they make it work! I got the corned beef hash brown: you could have it as is or pay a few more dollars for their homemade corned beef. It is obvious to me that theirs would be better! My husband went for Liz's ham breakfast. It is so much food, a literal mountain of ham. It comes with pineapple slices which is cute. We left very full and ready for our long drive home. My husband is a diabetic and we are cutting carbs due to his condition. We asked if cottage cheese could be substituted instead of pancakes and he was denied! They offered tomatoes or pineapple both of which have carbs. We have been customers for over 30 years, they didn't seem to care! We won't be back! read more

This is an old school diner, nothing fancy, but clean, with very friendly and welcoming staff. Beverage order was taken and delivered within just a few minutes. Our food order was taken when the coffee came. The country omelette was huge and had two biscuits, sausage, hash brown, sausage, and the omelette which was delicious. The corn beef hash was also good but the poached eggs were under cooked, not sure the chef had a good grasp on poaching eggs. Wanted to try the coney dog lunch special. 2 coneys, fries and a drink for $8.79. Real god deal for really good coneys. The hot dogs were good the chili was not spicy but had a good taste, the onions were fresh and plentiful. The fries were not greasy. I had lemonade and water. The service was really good. Many will dislike this this old worn out diner located on the industrial Groesbeck Highway. It's fugly for sure. However, I've been eating breakfast here for years and love it. Why? Solid home-cooked food, great portions and greater value. Higher quality breakfast meats especially the ham. Nice selections of breakfast specials too. Love the huge bowl of grits swimming in real butter. I chop up my sausage and mix it in. MMMmmm. Big booths, ample seating, and nice waitresses too. The crowd is real blue-collar East-side types. Been a while since I had been here. Not sure why I just started craving Ham and I always received the best ham here so off we went for a late breakfast! Our usual MEAL out is dinner/lunch with breakfast typically being at an establishment that offers Gluten Free options for toast/french toast or pancakes. No GF bread products but STILL SERVE THE BEST HAM AND COFFEE-you never have to ask! I asked and they still peal and shred their own potatoes,they do. Today though the potatoes appear possibly over par boiled so the hash browns were kind of soft. The inside has not changed much over the years and it could use an update but it is very clean! Do not let the loved appearance scare you. This is where the locals go to eat. They get a crowd after church too!! Staff is always so kind and attentive! You can get a breakfast with three eggs and a pound of Ham! So good. In this day and age of the missing mom and Pop businesses come and support your local restaurants. First time eating here. My son and my dad like to come here for breakfast. I decided to try it out this morning. When we first pulled up, I was a little unsure based on the building. It's on Groesbeck and there was only one other customer parked in the lot. When we first walked in, I noticed that they were very patriotic in their decor, which I loved. American flag decor and eagles. We were seated in a booth and the waitress was very friendly. We met the owner, Eddie; hard working and passionate about his customers. Liz, the original owner had passed away and he bought the place 16 years ago. Every customer that walked in, they knew by first name. I love places like this; everyone was like family. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The waitress & the food was god awful. I ordered a cup of soup, that was obviously forgotten about and I had to remind the waitress the one and only time she checked out table for drink refills. 5 minutes after I Received my soup (which was not even close to lukewarm, our food was served. I ordered the corned beef hash breakfast with two hard boiled eggs and white toast. When she set my corned beef hash & toast down, it could've been assumed that my food was forgotten about on the grill. The corned beef hash was so over cooked it was inedible. Toast was black. And the hard boiled eggs were pipping hot as if they literally just boiled them and didn't chill them. I would've been fine asking for a replacement meal or sending it back, but our waitress didn't check on us. Not once. It was absolutely ridiculous. I will not be returning due to the lack of service and absolutely horrible food. It wasn't even worth the "cheap and convenient" food. read more

Yes, I used to recommend this hole-in-the-wall Roseville restaurant to everyone because they simply had the best omelettes, anywhere.Not so anymore. I used to brag how consistent the food was here. You couldn't get a bad meal. Not tru now. What happened Liz's? It take years to win over loyal customers and just one bad meal to lose them forever. Our hash browns were burnt, almost black on the outside and greasy and under-cooked on the inside. Lynn got the ham and cheese omelette which has always been outstanding and the cheese wasn't even melted inside? Say it ain't so! I even noticed the coffee tasted different, not as good. What's up?!?! We may try it again but, I'm a little bit nervous about it now. Oh, I almost forgot. I usually get my eggs scrambled and they have always been perfect. Liz's Ham Cafe is a timeless classic small mom and pop shop that never fails to deliver. I always go during breakfast with an old friend to catch up on time. They never rush us out of there and are always diligent to attend to our needs. I have going to restaurants and having to wave down the wait staff to refill my coffee. The waitress' here are on top of it, I have 5 or 6 refills or top offs each time. On additional, their breakfast is astounding and a monstrous amount for a little price of $5 more dollars. The other food on the menu is also pretty affordable and they provide a lot of food. However, they are known for their breakfast so I would attend to their breakfast menu more so.
