I decided not to ask for crispy hash-browns. but what came to the table was a perfectly fried AND CRISPY tasty yummy hash brown. bacon was overly crunchy but still enjoyed it. sunny side eggs were good too! not too runny not but jammy. daughter ordered the Tocilog. This was really good too. The rice you get with it is garlic rice. there was a lot on her plate so we took home leftovers. Still great as leftovers! Well. My parents and I like to go once a month for breakfast and it's normally a good time. However this past visit has a lot of misses. First it was my hot tea. Not too big of a deal except for the fact they tried to charge us for it and they never brought. Yet the real reason I wrote this review was for the waffle. Worst waffle ever. It was so rubbery you could barely cut into it. I only took a nibble because the texture turned me off immediately. My mom and I share meals so she tried about two bites and gave up herself. Also the sausage felt barely cooked so i left it alone too. Now you may ask why didn't you tell the waiter. Well the waiter disappeared on us for the entire time. So by time we got any acknowledgment we had ate our other food and was ready to go. I will vouch that the omelette and fried breakfast enchiladas were still good but the waffle needs a full revamp!! read more

It was pretty good! Mom and I ate dinner here the other day. Service was fine. Hostess was super sweet, waitress was ok, robot brought out food. Prices were reasonable considering we were at a casino and the food was quite tasty! Burger was legit, mom loved it and the onion rings were perfect. I would definitely eat here again and probably will. We paid with casino points. Side note- not a fan of these robots taking human jobs. Not a fan at all. And the robot they have here sings. Canyon Cafe was one of the restaurants that caught my eye during my stay at Cache Creek for the simple fact that they had a vast menu with some really good items and they offered take out. The menu is a nice size and has a little bit of everything such as pasta, steaks, seafood, sandwiches, Filipino food, burgers, chicken wings and even breakfast. They are a little bit more upscale that the traditional cafe and the prices are on the higher side. I went here twice and both times I experienced problems with my food. I ordered a New York Steak Sandwich (Medium Well) and this came with seasoned fries. The initial sandwich was cooked Medium Rare and I had to bring it back and asked for well done but it was not well but cooked medium well. I'm not sure what the issue is with not cooking the steak to the correct temperature. The second sandwich was actually pretty good, the steak was tender and had good flavor. I really liked garlic peppercorn aioli on it and I wish I would've added cheese as that may have really taken it to the next level. The seasoned fries were good as well. The second night I ate here again and decided to get steak again lol. This time I got the Grilled New York Steak which came with green beans and garlic mashed potatoes and I got it well done. I thought for sure since I ordered it well done then that's what it will be, there's no way they'll mess it up two nights in a row. WRONG!! This steak was rare!!!! I was so disgusted. I ended up taking the steak back and receiving a refund. If you're looking for Filipino breakfast then maybe go here, but for anything else it's awful. I feel bad for the servers who seem overworked. The hostess was rude, told us the wait was 25 mins and after waiting for 30 mins, we went up to her and asked about our table, she said, " I never told you 25 minutes!" We ended up waiting for an hour! Finally, I think a manager sat us. One of the water glasses broke in half when my husband picked it up. They forgot 2 of our cappuccinos and after 3 times asking for my oatmeal they finally brought it out and IT WAS THE WORST OATMEAL IVE EVER HAD. It was watery slop! Zero consistency and zero taste! We always come to Cache Creek for the pool but next time we will probably come back for the food! I love how they've incorporated Filipino breakfast dishes to their menu and for an American restaurant they do a great job! My nieces and nephew loved the breakfast tocilog and enjoyed the garlic rice. I got the Grilled New York Steak to satisfy the cravings and it did the trick--it was cooked medium well-done as requested and the mash potato was nice and buttery! My family decided to do a quick staycation at cache creek and wanted to dine at the Chinese restaurant but the wait was 3.5hrs so we decided to give Canyon Cafe a try and I am glad we did. The gluten free options are limited. The menu is not marked with GF items. I usually get the chicken spinach salad with Italian dressing, because I was told the ranch is not gluten free. It comes with a yogurt dressing, but I can't remember if I haven't been getting it by choice or if it isn't gluten free. But I think the salad is good. For breakfast, I get eggs and bacon. I was told the hash browns have flour and are not gluten free. I did have the hash browns a few times, before I was told they had flour, and may have had reactions afterwards. Service is usually good. Not too loud, pretty clean. My wife has gotten a variety of foods there. She said the glutened food is ok. The jalapeño bacon macaroni and cheese served on super bowel Sunday was really good. The fettuccine was ok. The prices are pretty high considering you take a break from loosing your money on the floor and then loose more money eating. We came here for lunch. If you notice my local casino check-ins it's because I'm with Mom. I'm not fond of going to local casinos but I'll go to Vegas anytime LoL! The menu offered American food and accommodated everyone. They even have some Filipino dishes and that's what we ordered. We chose a couple of silog meals and sinigang. The sinigang came in a large bowl w/ choice of white rice or garlic rice. The Tocilog and the Longsilog were also served in large portions. We decided to go here because the Chinese spot was a 2 hour wait. Service was good and place was good enough but the Kare Kare was awful. My uncle and aunt took two bites and order something else. My uncle asked for a refund for the Kare Kare and was denied. I never heard of a restaurant not honoring a refund request for food that was sub par. I don't recommend ordering the Kare Kare and a restaurant servicing bad food and not owning up to it is absurd. You gotta do better. read more

As we checked in to get seated he told us there was at 10 min wait however he seated everyone else immediately but us. Also it wasn't busy I don't understand why he was making us wait. Whenever we come to Cache Creek, we always have lunch or dinner at Canyon Cafe. Their menu has a section on Filipino food. All of the choices are the favorite rice plates with eggs and a choice of white or garlic rice. They also have Kare kare and sinigang soup. I ordered the Tocilog rice plate. It's marinated sweet bacon. The tocino is very good. It's served with a container of vinegar. It is a good meal whether it's for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The meal has a big portion. I'm glad that the cafe caters to Filipinos as well as other guests to try one of the favorite dishes of Filipinos. The service was excellent. We were seated right away and our food arrived warm. We will always come here whenever we wanted to gamble at Cache Creek. Their food is superb and delicious. read more

Service is pretty good, and you can use your Cache Creek Club card, and eat for free, if you have enough points. Good deal. I don't recommend the Caesar Salad. It's large enough, and should fill up most appetites, but not good. Also, the Shrimp and chips, are a no go. The shrimp is mushy and heavily breaded. Hamburgers are the usual, build it yourself, ask for mayonnaise on the bun if you like your burgers with that condiment. Absolutely, love their fries. A guilty pleasure, is their cheesy garlic bread. Club Sandwich, is the usual, and with fries, will definitely fill your breadbasket. I still highly, recommend the Ham & Eggs. Large tasty piece of breakfast ham, 2 eggs, ask for the hash browns crisp and toast. Their Bacon & eggs are also good, but I wouldn't order the sausage & eggs. Me and my mom dined in late night so it wasn't too busy. We were immediately greeted by a friendly hostess with a big smile and he was able to seat us immediately and a few mins later greeted by our server(I think her name was Audrey). She was very friendly. Service was quick and everything tasted good. We ended up getting full off just the apps and salad so we asked to have our entrees for Togo before they were brought out. While on a golf outing, I had breakfast at the Cache Creek Canyon Café. It worked out just fine. I had a simple breakfast; eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast. The eggs were poached perfectly, and the bacon was crunchy, meaty, and tasty. My potatoes were a good, traditional compliment. The only real issue I had related to my toast. It took two post ordering requests and a 15-minute wait to receive. The restaurant was not busy, so it was hard to understand or accept. read more

Today i was a little disappointed first they send you the food in a robot tray device that i wasn't very fond about because if you need anything sauce or anything for your meal u have to flag someone down , in this case i need a little ranch and tabasco to flavor up my fries . Overall I rate this a 3.5, but if I have to round, unfortunately it's rounding down to 3. Simply put, this is not a 4 or 5 star establishment. Prices are heavily inflated for what you get. If the quality of the food was good and reflected the price then that'd be a different story. But this is subpar, lower quality than Denny's or Black Bear Diner food. Placed my order on Sunday, 10:39AM - steak and eggs, cooked medium, over easy, well done hash browns - longsilog Filipino breakfast, over medium eggs, garlic fried rice Order came out at 10:55 so timing was that wasn't too bad. Review of steak and eggs: I ordered my steak to be cooked medium because at most establishments like Denny's, Black Bear Diner, Mel's Diner, or any local diner or cafe, I've found that whatever you order is cooked one level higher. So if you order medium, it will be medium well. Medium well will be well done. Well done will be burnt. Lol. But anyway, here it's cooked accurately, which is good overall but was bad for me since I wanted medium well and ordered medium expecting medium well. The steak itself was cooked well but lacked flavor. I added salt and pepper which helped tremendously. I tried it with some A1 but I feel it ruined the integrity of the steak. It made it taste like A1 with steak instead of steak with A1. So I ate the majority of the steak with just salt and pepper, and of course dipping it into egg yolk adds that extra touch. Eggs were cooked accurately. The hash browns were disappointing unfortunately. They were very mushy even though I asked for well done. It tasted like they were slightly crisp on one side, and then they forgot to flip it over to the other side. It tasted like mashed potatoes which is not what I wanted with my steak and eggs. The toast was on point, buttered perfectly and a good mixture of crispy and soft. Overall at $15.99, I feel that this meal is over priced. It's worth maybe $11.99 on the high end. But I understand that there aren't many food options nearby so prices will be inflated for a casino just as they are at airports. The longsilog and all 3 of the Filipino breakfast options are good. Not great, not bad, but good. At $11.99-12.99 they are definitely over priced in general, but I guessssss they're okay priced for a casino, especially since this type of breakfast isn't commonly offered at a casino. The service is pretty terrible. If you're thirsty, order two waters, because the waitress who tended to me got me water and took my order, delivered my order, and gave me my check. Never checked up on me between those times to see how I was doing. I like attentive service. Not where they're overbearing and ask if you need anything every 2 minutes. But slyly checks on your table from afar, checks if your water is empty and refills it without you asking, gives you extra napkins, things like that. Not a bad place to eat overall, but don't expect much. read more

My parents love their oatmeal in the morning and I love their Filipino tselogs (garlic fried rice, an egg, tomato, and a side of meat/protein). My all time favorite is their bangus (milkfish). When we stay over on comp'd nights my parents always order me food to go so I can eat while working. They also have other Filipino and traditional diner dishes. read more

Good cafe with options for everyone. I like that we are usually able to be seated right away. I would stick to the traditional items such as a sandwich and fries or breakfast next time. This time I tried the kare kare, pretty expensive at $23 but it's big enough for two people. We had comps so decided to try something new. It was ok. The oxtail was tender. But the sauce was clumpy. It also lacked flavor. I was happy to bring the leftovers home and enjoy it more. But I couldn't finish it as it just wasn't tasty. Very bland and the sauce was again clumpy. Ok I have to say that I do enjoy eating here when I visit Cache Creek but the customer service...from management is terrible. What prompted me to write this review although it has been awhile was that I happen to see the manager that addressed my concern when I had issue with their wonton soup. I had found a dead caterpillar in it and it was brought to the attention of the manager, an elderly caucasian man with grey hair. I didn't catch his name but I happen to see him again a couple weeks ago. I understand that things happen but an apology goes a long way especially in customer service. The manager simply looked at my wonton soup and shrugged and said...."these things happen and are unavoidable" What a lame response from a manager. If this is what your management team is like then I suggest you find better people. No wonder why your casino looks empty these days. read more
