The food is always excellent when I come to Loco express. The portion sizes do not disappoint and the flavor is always there. The one thing I did not like is that they used to have a self serve salsa bar, but not anymore. Also, food used to come with chips as well, which they also got rid of. The lack of those nice touches and price increase feel like a move in the wrong direction. We ordered the carne asada quesadilla and carne asada burritos. They were both super good and filling. The service and staff are always very friendly and fast workers. We asked for several modifications in our food and they got all of them correct which is always a plus in my book. Really good Mexican food at a casino that won't cost a fortune! When mom and I come to gamble we normally eat here. We are able to use our points and dining promos so it typically doesn't cost us anything. Whether we eat here or choose to take it to go on our way out it doesn't disappoint. Yesterday we ate there. Molcajete?! In a casino with a restaurant name that includes express? Yeap! Surprised me too! Not a common menu item, but one of my favorite items to try when I can find it! What is Molcajete? Fajitas in a hot bowl with a flavorful liquid. Usual ingredients are; chicken, steak, cactus, cheese, onions, bell peppers, and hot peppers. I've had it with chorizo also. Served with beans, rice, and tortillas. The Molcajete at Loco Express is good! The bowl is not heated, instead of being in a flavorful liquid the ingredients were on top of lettuce. Not my first time eating here but it's nice to have consistency and good tasting meals every time. Staff is always so nice and even when the casino is crowded you can expect to get your food really quickly. I like the assortment of choices and the prices are pretty good, even better that you are able to use your points or food vouchers for an even better discount. There is some seating, but keep in mind that when it's crowded you will have to be vigilant of when a table opens up therefore weekday trips to the casino are the best. Not overly expensive for what you get. But what you get, isn't that great. I ordered a chimichanga for $10.25 (which thanks to a $5 voucher, I only paid $5.25 for it). In short, it was a warm mush. Doesn't deserve to be called a chimichanga. The pros: - warm - has beef - guac was pleasant - sizable for the price - will make the average person full The cons: - lacks salt - lacks depth - lacks flavor - corn and black beans don't mesh well - beef is more like pulled pork from my 6th grade cafeteria. - sauce they put on the top tastes like Chef Boyardee but in a bad way. They need to cut this out and make a new sauce for people. - for a chimichanga, it should be crispy. It was very slightly at first, but as I'm halfway through it, it's soggy now. I wish this had some sort of redeeming quality, but it doesn't. It's a terrible chimichanga that does not deserve to be called a chimichanga, and I highly do not recommend getting it. I came here to have a quick bite to eat as unfortunately, I needed to head back to work from there. I ordered the nachos with carne asada for $10 dollars. The nachos were a Taco Bell like style where the cheese was queso, loaded it with the sauce that I had a pool of cheese at the very tend. The meat itself was great with the guacamole, tomato sour cream. Beware it is very filling as I got full from this and even though I finished it I needed to walk around the casino to burn the rest of the food. My parents eat here all the time for lunch! They usually order the chili verde plate with an extra side of rice. Today I tried it with them! The staff were extremely nice and very attentive. We were here last week on a saturday night. This is one of the fast food restaurants inside Cache Creek. There are only about 8 tables to sit at, so I guess it is more for take out to your room. The cashier had no smile so it did not feel very warm and cozy. As we were placing our order, I noticed a couple getting up from a table, so my husband rushed over to grab it. We were lucky! Otherwise you have to go to your room. I eat plant based, so there were options for me. I had to order the chicken mango salad with no chicken. It is always frustrating when you don't order the expensive protein, but they don't lower the price. Either have a plant based / vegan option, or lower the price. I do have to say it was good and the dressing was delicious. My husband did not have such luck. He ordered the seafood enchiladas and he got sick. Every tasted fresh and delicious. The staff are really impressive how quickly they get the food out and turning over the tables, with a constant line at 9pm. I am truly impressed. I had the #1 steak meal, which was good put will probably go for the fajita and nachos next time -just was craving steak and they didn't have a steak fajita :( . The only place to eat at cache Creek because the buffet is no longer there. This is the one restaurant that you get your money's worth. Even though they've gone cheap lately and blamed it on covid with their condiments. Everything used to be out for the customer now you have to beg for salsa or pico de gallo. What used to be free, it's pretty much wrapped up and behind the counter. Good luck begging for jalapenos. There is one cook who I watch when she makes the food. Other than that, I highly recommend this restaurant. Cache Creek needs to do better especially with their buffet which is not a buffet. Harvest buffet, should be harvest not buffet. LOL read more

I go to cache creek every week. on 05/30/24 I purchased 7 burritos, 2 with steak and shrimp and 5 just steak. I gave them to 4 different households and everyone became very sick hours later. we all had food poisoning! I reported it to the staff the very next day. I used to really enjoy the Mexican restaurant at Cache Creek Casino--everything was so good and full of flavor. When they replaced it with Loco Express, it was still a decent spot to grab a meal. Unfortunately, things have really gone downhill. The colorful chips they used to serve have been swapped out for a cheaper version, which I could overlook, but the real disappointment came with the menu changes. I went there recently hoping to order fajitas, only to find out they no longer offer them. Instead, we got enchiladas and a burrito, and honestly, it was worse than fast food. I'm not sure what's happening at Cache Creek Casino, but Loco Express has seriously dropped in quality. A clean well run restaurant. I sat at the counter overlooking the chef at the grill. Sorr of nice watching the progress of my two fish tacos. As I waited I had some ice tea. I notice the beautiful dark blue counters and all the beautiful food leaving the kitchen. As said in my previous review this is a great spot for a quick bite. Food fine as usual. Since its Thursday the buffet is closed and this becomes a good option. Directly behind me there is Sweets Etc and the window of a bunch of baked goods. Went here with my roommate since all she eats is Mexican food. We ordered the Mole plate as well as the Carnitas. The Carnitas looked old af. Dried, burnt, not your typical carnitas. The tortillas were nothing special at all. We got corn and flour. Flour tasted like Guerreros, which are plastic-like in texture. The corn where whatever. Rice was not even a Mexican rice. It looked and tasted like a yellow Cajun store bought rice. This was not made on site. It was probably delivered already made in a bag and just reheated. Beans? One word: Canned! Yikes! The Mole was by far the worst we have ever tried. My roommate is a Mole connoisseur and I have to agree with her when she mentioned how sweet the Mole was. Not just a hint of sweetness, but these people must have dumped a bucket of sugar up in there. She left it all and barely touched it and my fat ass couldn't even fathom the idea of digesting such biabeeetus provoking meal. Pass pass and pass! The seating area was very small and I didn't like the fact that they allowed people who weren't customers of the restaurant to sit down and take a break. This left nowhere for us to sit. Service was great. I'll say that much. The prices were reasonable that was about the only thing about it. Would I go back and eat here again? Sadly, yes I would. Was it crazy? Was it hot? Ummmm, not really, but it was totally decent, and for Casino Mexican, surprisingly enjoyable. This is the second in a series of casino cuisine reviews as I attempt to be the first to review some of the eating establishments at Cache Creek. A lofty and ambitious, yet deep and meaningful goal I know. But hey, before we went on a wholesome weekend family trip to the casino (my Dad's a serious poker player and we tag along sometimes), I carefully read all of the Yelp reviews of Cache Creek and found very little detail about the food options. And for a food obsessed individual like me, every eating experience, even at a casino, is an important dining opportunity and a chance to seek out something good, or at least, decent. So, I figured I'd review the Cache Creek culinary scene so that future Yelpers can make an informed choice about their dining options after loosing all their money at blackjack. And what's a better balm to soothe the broke ass soul than a nice strong Margarita? Some cheese stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon AND a Margarita to wash them down with, that's what's better! That's right, pepper jack stuffed shrimp wrapped in applewood smoked bacon. Ed M., you better book a room, 'cause these suckers were really good in the worst way. We also tried the taquitos (average, like the frozen ones, but hey, I secretly dig those, so really they were just fine) and the nachos, which were tasty and heaped with the works as well as both ground beef and shredded beef (we couldn't decide so we went with double beefy happiness). We were eating light (What? Can't you tell?) so the only other dishes we tried were the tortilla soup (not that exciting except for the literally fist sized ball of sour cream that was in it - by far the largest helping of sour cream I have seen in a small bowl of soup) and the Pozole (a special that day, and damned tasty). The decor featured a liberal sprinkling of serapes, sombreros, and gaudy pottery, (what can I say, they must have gone to the stereotype school of interior design at Cache Creek) and the place was very clean. Once again I was pleasantly surprised by the food at this casino, and even though it was definitely chain-ish Americanized Mexican, they earn the fourth star for having good margaritas, a sassy intelligent waitress who gave us good service, being open late, and providing all of the above in the boondocks of Brooks, CA. Oh, and did I mention that they had a woman hand making fresh fluffy tortillas right before your eyes and that we had warm apple stuffed churros for desert? Hands down, the best Chili verde. We drive an hour and a half for the chili Verde. Gambling and entertainment is secondary to the great food at Loco Express. We ordered 3 chili Verde plates and 1 carne asada plate tonight. The carne asada was delicious and tender. The accompaniments such as rice, beans, salsa, chips and tortillas are delicious. Ingredients are good quality and the chefs here really know their stuff. I have made chili Verde at home and ate at many popular mexican restaurants in the SF Bay area and the chili Verde here is so much better. We have had the food here the last 5 years and we were not disappointed. We came here tonight to watch the Pacquiao/ Thurman fight and almost forgot about the fight while enjoying the food. Came into Loco Caliente with 15 friends for a late dinner and some drank - and seemed to disturb the manager by making him get up and concentrate on how to push 4 tables together. Ambiance was cool, deorated like a mini-Chevy's. I had their Melon Margarita, which was tasty - but small for $9. The chips were 5-star, served piping hot with three types of salsa. I ordered the two item, chicken enchilada and a chicken taco. Taco was ok, store bought shells are always weak in my book - but it was aight. Enchilada looked like it belonged on the child's menus, wimpy and tiny. The beans were beans, and the Spanish Rice tasted more like Asian Fried Rice. Taste wise, the food was probably a three. But it sat in my gut like a rock - and I watched several of my friends squirm in discomfort for the next few hours. So I'll call it a 2.5 star. So I'm giving 5 stars but I have to say, it's based on the salsa. I only ordered chips and salsa ($1.95). I didn't try any other menu items...though the tacos were tempting. I received a large styrofoam (!!) container FULL of warm chips and was directed to a salsa bar with a nicely flavored salsa verde, a great (spicier but not too hot) red salsa, a pico de gallo that I didn't try, and some small, sliced jalepenos (yum!) The woman who took my order, as well as the lady that called my number, both wore friendly smiles. Didn't say much other than taking my order and a polite thank you at the end. While making a small deposit it at Cache Creek Casino, a couple of friends and I stopped in to the Cantina. The service was OK and the Chips and Salsa were great. The food was Ok. I ordered the Chicken Boracho and was told that if I wanted a couple of Tortillas it was an extra $3. Kind of Fried my Goose. I think for Mexican the prices were high.
