Ordered Sesame Chicken and Cashew Chicken for lunch. The Sesame chicken had several pieces of chicken that were partially covered with sauce and tasted like the sauce and chicken were not cooked together or were not cooked together long enough. There was a distinct old oil or burnt oil taste on the egg rolls. Cashew chicken was good But same issue with egg roll on that dish as well. Called back and explained but they only offered for us to drive back and exchange it for another dish. I am thinking kitchen maintenance issues. Could be that Sunday is not their best day, but i mean $36 plus i left a $2 tip and they would not work with us in a meaningful way to correct. C'mon. read more

Ordering was a breeze service was ok But the food shrimp fried rice was terribly bland minimal amount of shrimp & it was mushy like it was under the heat way too long The rice had no egg or any other ingredients it was just plain bland rice I also ordered egg rolls & crab rangoon & I was not given enough plum sauce when i asked for more I was told it was already in the bag!! Not a pleasant experience I will be looking for a better chinese restaurant Does anyone have any recommendations?? read more

Food is awesome and you get quit a bit of food. We have been going to Canton China for many years

Disappointing.... The rice was dry & bland with no vegetables The egg roll was soft and mushy, made with Brussels sprouts instead of cabbage The general tsaos chicken also had no vegetables just a few pieces of broccoli I'm convinced people in Detroit have no idea what authentic Chinese food is supposed to taste like smh they said this place was supposed to be the best around canton SAD read more

Portion size was huge, but quality was poor. Best thing ordered was orange chicken. All vegetable dishes didn't taste fresh. Sauce mediocre- not much flavor. Disappointed Do not recommend Will not order again read more

Stopped in yesterday for some fried rice to use as a base for some seared sirloin in Korean sauce. I was greeted by a pleasant staff person momentarily who took my order for shrimp, ham and chicken fried rice for $13.50 per quart. She said about 10 minutes and my order was up in 5. Drove home to prepare the sirloin and poured it over the rice and it was delicious! Saw plenty of shrimp but not much ham or chicken and only used half the container for two people. Didn't think to take a photo until after we scarfed dinner, but I will return to try other dishes! read more

*COVID19 Edition* Throughout the pandemic, we've been trying all different kinds of restaurants and have yet to find a Chinese restaurant place that we really loved. This restaurant was no exception. The food itself tasted mostly fresh (I appreciated that the wonton soup wasn't oily), but mostly just lazily thrown together. The almond chicken was covered in breading and fried. The beef and broccoli was smothered in brown sauce. By the end of the meal, we just hadn't enjoyed anything that we were eating. As Chinese takeouts go, it was fine. I would give it 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding down because Yelp doesn't do half stars. It was nothing special, and I don't intend to go back. On the plus side, their COVID19 precautions seemed legit, so that works for me. read more

Love this place. It's cheaper than every other place nearby without sacrificing quality. The service and food is great. Take out only

Worse Chinese food! Ordered Chicken Szechuan LoMein & Garlic Beef and both stated "Hot & Spicy" but there was absolutely zero spicy!! No garlic either! LoMein was sort of sweet so had to drown it in soy sauce to get some flavor. Cook needs to take lessons in spicy apparently. New to the area and now cannot figure out how this place gets so many 5 stars. Oh BTW the egg rolls tasted like they cooked them hours early, nothing but mush. read more

I was hesitant of this place at first because of the reviews, but gave it a shot and am very pleased! I got the almond chicken combination and it was excellent! The chicken was very tender with great tasting gravy (without being too heavy) and the rice had a nice subtle flavor. This place by far has the best bang for your buck in the area and gets the job done. read more

Canton China Restaurant - Almond Chicken Combo Dinner - Chinese Near Me - Canton, Michigan

If your looking for a Cantonese style Chinese Restaurant that serves classic Americanized fare, then you will love Canton China to no end. This place really takes me back to the 1980s, when Cantonese style food was far more commonplace in Southeast Lower Michigan. Unlike other Chinese restaurants in the area, the portions at this place are very generous to say the least. You receive a lot of bang for your buck at this place. That said, you will more than likely take a lot of it home with you that's leftover. I ordered Chicken with Snow Peas, which is served in a white sauce that is loaded with cornstarch surrey. I can remember neighbors from Hong Kong used to cook like this at the restaurant they owned. The bad part is when you place it in the refrigerator overnight, it will turn into a white gummy substance. However, it's nothing be afraid of. Moreover, the Egg Drop Soup that I had, also used a lot of cornstarch, which reminded me of dinning out in the 1980s. Next time I will try their Won Ton Soup and see how it compares. Meanwhile, you have to love the fact this place serves egg rolls that use real bean sprouts. This practice has all but vanished from the local scene. So if you're looking for some very good, traditional Americanized Chinese food that we all grew up on as a kid in the Midwest, then Canton China is the place to go. The staff are very friendly, and will prepared your food the way you like it. read more

Best food love the egg rolls and I always get Almond chicken and my boyfriend gets Kung pow. Chicken extra hot

No comment. I am not a fan for packaged plum sauce for your egg roll. Based on the sweet and sour sauce for the sweet and sour chicken fell flat for me. read more

Worst Chinese food ever. Absolutely ZERO flavor. Very disappointing. I am not picky and will eat almost anything - looks unhealthy and tastes like nothing. Threw the whole dinner out :( read more

I have been looking for a really good American-style Chinese restaurant here on the westside, and was encouraged by the reviews. I started with the Egg Drop Soup and felt it tasted of cornstarch more than anything else. Tried some of my husband's hot and sour. It wasn't bad. I don't think I'd order it though. Bean sprout egg rolls were good. They tasted fresh and the sprouts themselves were still crunchy. I ordered the Almond Boneless Chicken. Despite the name, it did not appear to come with any almonds. It was served on a bed of lettuce, which I like as an accompaniment for this dish. The sauce was served on the side, which was also good because the breading on the chicken was very crispy. Unfortunately, the sauce was a weird gloppy yellow (as you can see from my picture below). The waitress saw my face and offered to bring some brown gravy. It was better, and more what I expected from this dish. I was unhappy with the overall lack of seasoning with the dish, finding it rather bland. My husband ordered the Sesame Chicken, which I liked better. It had a bit of spice, but was rather one-note, tasting strongly of hoisin sauce. I wouldn't order it. Overall, I wasn't thrilled with my visit. read more

Been my goto place forever. Best Egg rolls in the world. Almond Chicken as it should be. Strongly Recommended.

I LOVE CANTON CHINA, awesome service, delicious food, been coming here regularly since 2006! Huge portions, can't reccomend this restaurant enough! read more

My Fav! I occasionally crave the (plain) Egg Foo Young w/White Rice/gravy & Egg Roll. Comes with a 1/2 pint of Rice, always forget to order the pint size instead. More than enough for 2 portions and to share. Food Always Hot! Portions aplenty! Miss sitting down to dine inside. The Best seat in the house is the corner booth up front. Open inside please and thank you read more

My new go to Chinese in Canton. I had the General's chicken and the wife and I loved it. Huge portions and reasonably priced. We will be back! read more

This was my first time ordering food there, and granted they give you a lot of food for the money, but all three of the entrees I ordered (General Tso chicken, Sesame chicken and House special Mei fun) had absolutely NO flavor and the chicken was overcooked. The general chicken was supposed to be medium spicy - no spice whatsoever and tasted like watered down ketchup. The sesame chicken was bland, and there was NO curry or spices in the mei fun. A complete waste of 50.00. I will not return. read more

Amazing egg rolls! Idk I always base my Chinese restaurant experience off the egg rolls and if they're good I know rest of the food will be too. Really good food. I had done a carry out from here and everything was ready on time along with no missing items. Good canton location read more

I LOVE their pork steamed dumplings! They are amazing and the customer service is very good.

Very good Lo main. We drive 1/2 hr just to get it sometimes good egg rolls also. Good service as well.

This is the first time we ordered takeout from here, it was not a good first impression. When I ordered General Chicken the young lady said it had broccoli in it, which I really like, but there was none. The cost was over $13 and was not made correctly. My wife ordered a quart of sweet and sour chicken, it had two small pieces of pineapple, two slices of carrot, and one small piece of green pepper. Not what we expected. read more

dont go here, they have lots of attitude. I asked if they had sushi and they said "this is a Chinese store, ok?" I went to P.F. Chang's which is a Chinese bistro and they had sushi. These people could've just said "We don't sell sushi." Attitude was not necessary. read more

Thank goodness for this place! We moved to Wayne 18 months ago and FINALLY found good Chinese food! Hot and sour soup: not bad but not a lot of flavor. I added a few drops of hot mustard and it was better Egg rolls: yes please, I will take four more to go! Crispy but not greasy. Yum!! Generals chicken: one of the best we have had. Not greasy like a lot of places. And real chicken (some places serve chicken that looks and feels like it was frozen breaded chicken ball) Among chicken: pretty darn good. Gravy was kind of odd colored but not bad. Chicken was moist but the breading crispy. We will be back!! read more

Very expensive and fried rice was plans Garlic chicken spicy was neither spicy or garlicky maybe they gave us the wrong order charged for a quart on the rice but got a pint will never go back read more

This Is our go to Chinese food place. They are dealing with the Covid restrictions well. So glad they reopens after the first quarantine. Food is great. Can order the amount of spiciness. Good egg rolls. Definitely recommend read more

I've been going here for years. They have great food! My favorite is their chop suey. The prices are pretty average.

I've been here twice now, and both times I loved the food. I got the sesame chicken combo and the sweet and sour combo. It comes with an egg roll and my total is always about $14. That's a great price for food that I eat over the course of 2 days. On the second day I usually share with my husband and we're both full for lunch. I would definitely go here if I were you! read more

Been living in canton for 36 years and have used this restaurant a lot over the years and always loved it. We quit going a few years ago after they changed hands again because the quality was not the same. We decided to try it again recently and were pleasantly surprised, I would have given it a five star but can't believe this restaurant is still not open to the public and when you walk in they are still masked to the gills with a barricade and the worker was still standing back about 10 feet. It's time to move on. read more

We ordered carryout for a birthday dinner - it was GREAT!! We had an item missed when we got home (it may have been missed when ordering) and they went above and beyond to make it right. I really like the option to choose the sauce on many dishes and the different vegetables for different dishes, clearly explained on their menu. Great food & prices. Definitely recommend read more

One of my absolute favorite Chinese places. The portions are large so you can make 2 or 3 meals out of one dinner. The almond chicken is the best around and the egg rolls are to die for. I wish they were open 24 hours so I can eat it whenever I want. read more

This is my new go-to Chinese place in Canton. Their hot and sour soup was very good. I got the General's chicken and it reminded me of my favorite spot in Phoenix, AZ. I will be ordering again. read more

Good quality food at a fair price. Old school traditional menu with all your favorites. Miss dining in but carry out is seamless and spot on. read more

They are currently open for take out during this covid times. Sign posted for only one person at a time in the lobby to pick up your food. I ordered the lunch special: Almond Chicken which comes with plain fried rice and an egg roll. Price: $5.99 is a great deal. This filles me up and have some for leftovers. The fried rice was pretty tasty. The chicken was great and still crispy when I got home. The sauce was decent but not much almond flavor to it. Overall, pretty good for the price you pay. read more

We were prepared to be very forgiving. After all, it was Christmas, it was snowing, and when we first arrived the place was packed with both diners and take-out patrons and the servers were running around like chickens with their heads cut off. So, we were not immediately dissuaded by two or three un-bussed tables, etc., etc. Then the food started arriving, first the vegetable soup which tasted of mildew. The main courses were no more appetizing. I had some kind of szechuan chicken which was bland (bland szechuan?) except it had that same mildew taste, my wife had vegetable curry, and our son had chicken lo mein. This must be the first time I've ever seen my fifteen-year-old son decline taking leftovers home. I must say the flavors were genuine in one respect; I was reminded of some of the worst restaurants I experienced in Shenzhen and Dongguan 25 years ago, before the influx of money prompted rising standards. Oh, and 60 minutes later after the crowd had thinned quite considerably, every empty table remained un-bussed, even the ones that were un-bussed when we arrived. I can only imagine the place was initially packed due to a lack of competition in that particular neighborhood on a snowy Christmas day. I can't imagine how this place warrants an average 3-1/2-star review. read more

This is quite possibly the worst Chinese food imaginable. I ordered the Hunan Beef HOT, Szechuan Shrimp HOT, Egg Rolls, and Crabmeat Rangoons. About the onlty difference between the two dishes was the protein (shrimp vs. Beef). The Rangoons had almost not filling, they didn't include any hot mustard, the plum sauce is so thin it's like water, the Eggrolls were limp and bland. The main courses were not as good as anything, and I mean anything you might find in a can or frozen food section of the supermarket. If this is HOT then mild must be as bland as tissue paper, because there was ZERO heat, ZERO spice, ZERO taste in EITHER entree. We ate because we were hungry, but threw the leftovers out as inedible. Lousy, Lousy, Lousy... Spend your dollars elsewhere since this place doesn't have the talent, skill, or knowledge to serve even marginal food. read more

Solid and tasty Chinese food! Large portions and the service was very friendly. We has SS Chicken, Fried Rice and Almond Boneless and all were good. Egg drop soup and egg rolls were just right also. Interior is nothing but average but it is clean and 5 of us ate for $35 total before tip. That s cheap! read more

Drove by this place forever and I have visited most of the other Chinese restaurants in the area including the buffet restaurant next door. We went on a Saturday and it was very quiet. The decor and ambience is very understated but the food made up for what lacked. We had the Hawaiian Chicken at the advise of a customer and it was tasty. Super crunchy battered chicken fillet served in a slightly sweet thin glaze with pineapples ( not as sweet or as thick as sweet & sour chicken ). We loved it! Upgraded to shrimp fried rice which had a nice smoky flavor with huge shrimp (this is my hubby's favorite)'. We ordered the Cashew Beef, this was full of Chinese veggies, cashews and beef but nothing special. They used canned mushrooms which I didn't like but that was minor. We loved the homemade egg rolls made with bean sprouts and the chunky almond cookies and hot tea. Great value and portions. If you follow my post you know that service is really important to me. I liked their staff... Friendly but not phony, professional but not snobby, attentive but not annoying... Overall I liked the food, the value and the staff! We will drop by again! Next time I will try to take pictures to post. read more
