It seemed like your standard Chinese restaurant, thankfully the menu choices had plenty to choose from for vegan...I ordered the Szechuan tofu and it was scrumptiously delicious and satisfying. I was happy to know they didn't use MSG in their food. The price was a little more than I expected a dish to be but I think the amount or portion made up for it, there was plenty leftover to take home. It wasn't too bad, I could see myself returning here if I need my confess food cravings fix. The establishment was clean and orderly. Service was good to average. Picked this place because of the high ratings and glowing reviews and ended up seriously disappointed. 2 stars only because the food looked fresh and nicely presented with fresh veggies. Flavor-wise? Almost nonexistent... so sad bc the food is LOOKS AMAZING. The orange chicken and sesame chicken tasted exactly the same -- the only difference was sesame seeds on one of them. Both dishes were overwhelmingly salty, and I couldn't taste any actual orange sauce. The pad thai had a slight hint of flavor but was still bland overall. The chicken lo mein was just okay... also bland. Another dish we ordered had that same generic salty taste too. Service was quick and the staff were friendly, but good service can't save flavorless food. Unfortunately, we won't be ordering from here again. read more

The service is friendly. The food is well-cooked, and there is an extensive menu of authentic and American Chinese dishes. I've tried and liked the honey walnut shrimp, duck, egg foo young, and the lunch specials like chicken or beef with broccoli that comes with fried rice and a spring roll. My kids were wanting some Americanized Chinese food. We stopped by Tasty garden and ordered 2 shrimp fried rice and large order of shrimp Lo Mein. The items were good. Kids liked the flavor. The shrimp itself were large size but weren't enough. A more generous portion of protein would have earned this establishment a 5 star. I missed breakfast and was looking forward to lunch here. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall conveniently located on Haggerty and Cherry Hill. The menu is available online and online ordering is available, as well. I liked that pictures accompanied many of the menu items; it definitely makes deciding easier. I had the Dragon and Phoenix, which featured complementary tastes. The Cantonese-style meal featured shrimp stir-fried with a variety of vegetables, carrots, peapods, bamboo shoots, baby corn, and mushrooms. The other half of the dish was the General Tso's chicken. I thought the shrimp was very well-prepared but was underwhelmed by the chicken; there was too much batter. I also ordered the Orange Chicken which had a similar flavor profile to the General Tso's chicken. This also had a bit more batter than I would have liked. Otherwise, it was solid. I liked the flavor of this dish. I do think I should have gone with the roast duck, steamed chicken, or salt and pepper calamari for something different though. I should have given it more thought. I generally don't eat rice - I don't like the texture of it. But, I did like it here (long-grain and dry). The meal was ready in 20 minutes. Service was quick. read more

Have eaten here several times now, food has been great every time. This is my definitely my go-to spot for Chinese food from now on.

This was our first visit and found the food to be delicious. General Tsao's was not overly sauced and the chicken was juicy. The chicken and broccoli were cooked perfectly. Crab Rangoons were tasty. We also tried the vegetarian dumplings and liked the lighter dough. We'll be back. read more

I ordered the C20 dinner meal and requested that no salt be applied. The food looked good on site but the taste was the opposite. The spring roll was crispy on the outside but mushy on the inside. The fried rice was some kind of buttery concoction with a splash of chicken (deli chicken) as shown in the photo. Last but not least, there was the beef and broccoli. The broccoli was crispy, likely undercooked but edible and the beef covered with an extremely salty sauce . I'm use to Chinese rice having a vegetable or something added into the rice (green onions, peas, carrots eggs, bean sprouts, carrots etc. ) but there wasn't. Oh well. I tried. read more

Pretty decent food. Liked the pan fried dumplings. They are definitely less thin skinned and more like a thick dumpling and the sauce they come with is great. Got orange chicken, pretty decent but could have been spicier to my tastes. They gave me hot oil on request and it improved the dish quickly, rounding out the orange chicken sweetness with the lip-tingling heat of hot oil and chili. The server was very nice, quick and attentive. A cute little shop I have driven by many times. By the way, the egg rolls are quite good here. Crunchy, hot and good to dip. read more

Holy crap, you guys, I've been sleeping on this place for YEARS. Used to live practically right next door and never thought to go here. My loss! This place has extremely good food, on both their regular menu and their traditional Chinese menu. We ordered the Shanghai style short ribs, beef with wide rice noodles, Taiwanese style chicken, eggplant in garlic ginger sauce, singapore mei fun, and szechuan tofu. Got crab rangoons and veggie dumplings as apps. Everything was good. It's salty, so keep yourself hydrated, but I have no complaints. We have a ton of leftovers, but I'm dreaming about having them for dinner, so we'll see how long they last. Star of the show: hands down the Shanghai short ribs （糖醋排骨） . Sticky sweet and sour over lightly battered and fried bite sized ribs with chunks of pineapple. Watch out for bones. I'm Cantonese and this is my new favorite place to go to for flavors that remind me of home. I'm gonna be ordering so much from this place to make up for lost time. read more

I noticed a new Chinese joint take-out only at small strip mall on Haggerty corner Cherryhill. At least it is open for lunch on Sundays, but close on Monday. So much items listed on their menu, nothing so especial. Price wise they are about the same as other take- out joints within 2-3 mile radius. Food was so so, just like they come from the same suppliers with the other Chinese take out joints. Would I visit again? Maybe, maybe not. read more

This is a great carry out Chinese carry out place. We had tried two different lunch specials. The lunch specials comes with chicken egg roll or a spring roll. We had gotten chicken egg roll which was tasty. Lots of cabbage mixed in with minced chicken. Tastes great with some hot mustard. The lunch specials comes with fried rice. It was very simply made nothing really in it maybe like one or two peas. The Szechuan tofu is small thin fried strips of tofu cooked with carrots, onions, baby corn, carrots, bamboo, broccoli, green peppers, snow peas and mushroom. The sauce is a salty, slightly sweet and a little spicy. It's a great vegetarian dish. I also tried some of the General Tso's Chicken. Which had lots of tasty fried chicken pieces with maybe 3 broccoli mixed in a sweet and spicy sauce. The portions are huge in a styrofoam container. Prices are reasonable and have gone up due to Covid. $8.00 for tofu dish and $8.25 for general tso's chicken. I had just noticed printed on the menu the lunch specials are only for Mon-Fri. I guess I got lucky. :) I can't wait to try the traditional Chinese menu items. read more

This is a tiny little place, so while dining in is possible (only 3 or 4 tables, I think) it is geared more to the take-out/delivery crowd. My first time here, I got the shrimp fried rice, which was ok. Not bad, but nothing special. Second time around, I got the shrimp lo mein. This also was good, with a tasty sauce. Third time was the charm, though, as I ordered beef fried rice. I wasn't expecting much, but this dish surprised me with very flavorful beef. All of my visits included egg rolls, with which I always use hot mustard. I'm not sure what's different about the packets they get, but their mustard isn't nearly as "watery" as other places I've gone. Side note: if your order is less than $10, and you use a card, there's an additional $0.50 fee. All in all, I highly recommend Tasty Garden. What they lack in garden they more than make up for in tastiness. read more

I don't live in Michigan anymore so when I visited my parents, they wanted to try this restaurant out. We got takeout - the MaPo Tofu, the Eggplant with Pork, and Spicy Chicken. Authentic flavors and my family was really pleased with both the portions as well as the quality. Highly recommend. This was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant seems to mainly be a takeout place with some limited seating available in the restaurant. They serve the usual Chinese AMERICAN food, which I didn't order. The awesome thing is that they also have real CHINESE food (Cantonese-style). Food was good. Okay, so before you read, know that I am a Cantonese person who also cooks a lot of Canto food at home. There are so few places in Southeast Michigan that serve Canto food at a reasonable price (there's a few that are quite $$ but good). Note obviously I'm reviewing based on the area's surroundings and what you can get around here. This place is cheap and good, and serves Canto food. It's not just an Americanized Chinese food takeout place (although I like that stuff sometimes). Look at the authentic menu, and look at the pictures (on Yelp!) that the restaurant posted themselves. NOT EVERYTHING PICTURED IS IN THE MENU. Order what you think is a good Canto dish - if you know the food, you can order it. They make it all. Chinese broccoli with beef, hk style fried egg noodle, black bean sauce calimari, ground pork with eggplant. Legit stuff, not like 5 star NYC Chinatown, but good enough for this area. I live near here - have ordered from here probably at least 10 times already. Still discovering stuff to get that I missed eating from larger cities I have lived in with more Chinese food. read more

Having just moved up to the Canton about 6 months ago we have tried about a dozen Chinese take out restaurants and Tasty Garden has been by far our favorite. Good prices, great food and the customer service is fantastic. Always greeted with a smile and you feel appreciated as a customer. Since, I wrote my first review of this restaurant, it has changed ownership. It is now, a premier Chinese-American restaurant in the Canton, Michigan area. I am very impressed with the new owners. Besides just providing Chinese-American, they also provide true Chinese dishes such as "salted, pepper shrimp", "salted, pepper squid", "szechuan fish", "Szechuan beef", etc. Like myself, if you have not been to this place in years, try it again. It's like they went to Gordon Food Service and reheated the boxed food. The fried rice is yellow...how does that happen?!? The shrimp fried rice just has a few boiled baby shrimp laying on the top. Since moving from Brooklyn NY (Born and Raised there for 28 years), Ive been extremely disappointed with every American Chinese food restaurant in Michigan. There probably about a half dozen places within a 5 block radius. Just about every single one of them has great American Chinese food, delivers extremely quickly and its 6 bucks for a combination plate Now obviously thats a part of the perks of living in NY, inexpensive food. So to my surprise, I move here and could not find a single place that had good chinese food. Until now. Just wow. The food had the right taste. We ordered: Sesame chicken w/ Beef fried rice, Beef & Broc. w/ Beef Lo Mein Im going to review each part on its own and apologize if its way too long The sesame chicken was tender. The sauce was tasty and the amount they gave me was A LOT. My only gripe with this is they gave me only 3 pieces of broccoli. Its not a dish heavy with broccoli but I would have expected more. The taste and the extra chicken made up for it. In fact, they could have given me 1/4th of the amount of chicken and broccoli and it would have been just fine. The food was so delicious, I wouldnt have given a damn. The Beef fried rice was perfectly done as well. It wasnt dry, it had just enough oil to it and it paired well with the sesame chicken. The beef parts were large as well. The Beef w/ Broc was very good. The sauce was made well, the beef was tender and the broccoli was abundant in this one. My only gripe here was that it was warm when it arrived. Luckily the taste made up for it. And again, they added more than what I thought I would get. The Beef Lo Mein was also delicious. Not dry, not too oily and actually had taste to it. Ive yet to find a single place that has its lo mein taste as good as this place. So to summarize, the food was delicious, inexpensive (compared to others), and they give you a lot more than what you would expect in a combo platter. Now I only ordered from them once, so maybe I got a bit lucky with my order. I also did not dine in, it was delivery. So I cant speak to the service you get. I have ordered from them again today and will be reviewing them again. If the food remains just as delicious, I'll post an update here. Heres hoping it does, because I sure as heck miss eating good american chinese food. read more

Went there for lunch w/ my bf and dined inside. It's been pretty hot recently and the air conditioning was literally non existent. I think it might have been cooler outside than inside. I had sweat dripping off of my face while sitting there eating. Entirely uncomfortable. The food...the fried rice was the worst I've ever had. It was awfully bland and dry, horrible. We ordered 3 dishes to try. The orange chicken, general tso and the spicy pork. The pork was actually pretty good, but the orange and general were pretty much the same dish except one had a few pieces of orange rind. Egg rolls, not good at all, not even a little. You could tell they're just frozen and pre made. All uniformly shaped and no flavor. The wrapper on the inside was still raw. All in all, we hoped it'd be good. We live so close and it'd be really convenient, especially being right next to Maria's. But there's nothing about the food that'd make me ever wanna go back. I love ordering from here! Definitely the best takeout I've had in a while. Everything I've ordered so far is delicious, (Beef Lo Mein, General Tso, Orange chicken) and they are consistent. I hate when I order from food places (particularly Chinese food places) and one day it's really good, and the next it's horriblE. I usually order chicken and it always juicy and tender, none of that hard and chewy crap here. The staff is always very kind and polite when I call and when they come to deliver the food. About the only place that this has that's slightly better than other places in the Canton MI is its location is literally the closest Chinese place to my house. I had the Sweet and Sour Pork and it was markedly average. The pork was the usual bland from frozen product all cheap Chinese places use. And while the sauce was not as cloyingly sweet as most places, it was thin and runny rather than oozy and tempting. I may give them one more chance when i'm ready for a lunch combo to try out their General's Tso's, but I was not impressed already... i'd much rather go down Lilley a little more and get Chopstick House or go down Cherry Hill more and get China House. read more
