All the decor is very trendy but the service was bad and the food was okay. Our waiter took a while to see us after we were sat and was just generally out of it. There weren't a ton of menu options and the buffet was $22. I ordered the eggs en cocotte which was very tasty but a pretty small portion and my husband ordered the grand slam breakfast pizza which he said was ok and came in a ridiculously large portion, but guess he should have known from the name. I was really looking forward to having breakfast here but the server recommended ordering off the side menu: fried eggs, bacon strips, and avocado. Buffet breakfast review: The majority of our stars go to the amazing frittata, the delicious tea, and our extremely sweet and helpful waitress (and the rest of the staff). Highlights: * Best frittata of my life (and I don't even like eggs), made with brisket, kale, and Gouda cheese. I'm usually skeptical about hotel restaurants, but I'm glad I was able to come here! Approaching the restaurant you'll find the atmosphere here to be welcoming and relaxing. If you check-in on Yelp during dinner hours, you get a free appetizer! I got the Mac & Cheese with the Burnt Brisket Ends and it was great! Very cheesy and creamy. The bacon and brisket made it even better as well. For my entree, I got the Belle Burger which was good as well. I liked how it was on a pretzel bun and had pimiento cheese & tender belly bacon. The unique ingredients made it a good burger. It was a bit too greasy, but not a big deal! Overall, I received quick service and left satisfied. The wait staff was great and friendly and they had management walking around also checking in and making you feel welcomed. Wow, this was simply the single worst breakfast I have had in so far back, I can't remember one that was worse. I got the "SKILLET HUEVOS RANCHEROS" It was one very small sunny side up egg, on top of a mess of ranchero sauce, tomatoes, peppers, black beans, a tiny amount of queso fresco, and some flat bread. It was basically a veggie skillet with a pile of mostly peppers and tomatoes in some red sauce, when it should have had WAY more egg, and WAY more cheese, to make it palatable. My wife had the "AVOCADO TOAST". It was a very basic avocado spread we could have made at home, a bit of tomato, on grilled sourdough. Awful and dry. It needs something else, eggs? Cheese? Chicken? All? Dry toast and avocado spread, yuck. The service was average. The ambiance was kind of cool, modern, fun, and there was a duo playing music which was nice. But the food was so atrocious I had to write a bad review I am afraid. This was a giant waste of a Sunday morning brunch. We left as fast as we could, and went and had a second breakfast elsewhere because we ate little of the gruel that was served us. With all the breakfast options in Austin, this place should just close its doors, and let its hotel guests order room service, and then it can stop torturing locals and acting like a restaurant. Cannon + Belle definitely gets a 5/5 for atmosphere and location. It's in the lobby of the Hilton and it's a really nice setting. I went for brunch with a group of 10 and they had live music playing too. I'll start with the drinks. We each ordered a drink and it took about 25 minutes to get them. I think this is slightly unacceptable for drinks. Our food came out only a few minutes later - our server (Michele) was unconcerned and didn't seem to rush at all. The Bloody Mary flight was a huge disappointment, I would not recommend. The bloody Maria sounds like an interesting drink and when passed around a table of 10, we all absolutely hated it. The ghost bloody isn't a bloody at all. Overall, 2/5 for service and 2/5 for drinks. The food was the redeeming quality here. The best employees are clearly in the kitchen and not waiting on guests. I have never written bad reviews for any place but I wanted to let ppl know how bad it was so you don't waste your time. We were seated 15 min before our arrival time and were ignored for 30 min. The manager put in our drinks. Our table was four ppl, we finally were about to order appetizers. I want to be clear we never got any food and we're there from 7:15pm until 9pm. During this time no one took our dinner order. We cancelled the apps and I told the waitress we didn't want dinner as we never got the apps anyway. She promptly told me it wasn't her fault. We paid for our drinks and left. It looked like most ppl there were upset and had a similar ordeal. We tried to go there for dinner on a Sunday evening. The hostess sat us away from the bar area where they had seating in the hallway/walkway. There was a dining room but it was not being used. I was kind of concerned and asked if it had table service - we were assured it did. I wouldn't have minded ordering at the hostess desk or bar and picked up the food but was told we would be taken care of. :D Yeah, 25 minutes later we left - tried to flag down wait staff after 15 minutes which is when we started researching other places to eat. I get it. They're short staffed and the hostess placed us really out of the way. But this Hilton has real problems managing expectations and keeps falling short of their promises. Perfect late lunch at Cannon + Belle. Atmosphere is open and inviting. The bartender, Andy was super friendly and knowledgeable and gave us great suggestions off the menu. I ordered the Cannon Burger. It was a beast and stacked tall on pretzel bun and cooked to perfection. My husband ordered a Caesar. Served uncommonly classic, with full on Romain hearts stacked tall with a toasty uncut crouton. Just one large crouton. With a sprinkle of pepper, it was savory and fresh. Food came out promptly. Wow what a way to spend our first Christmas morning as empty nesters! The buffet was displayed beautifully provided a festive, elegant, holiday atmosphere. There were may choices of proteins, sides. The variety of breads were a perfect accompaniment with the various cheeses and salads. I have to mention the homemade pimento cheese it was authentic Y'all. My husband favorite was the seafood; which included shrimp, crab claws, and oysters. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, the crab claws were plump, the oysters were fresh, ample size, and made us feel like we were on the coast. He easily ate enough to cover the cost of brunch. The desserts were phenomenal and my favorite was the chocolate, peppermint mousse, decadent! The staff was attentive and staffed extremely well, making us feel pampered. Wow, this place is terrible. Note, it was labor day weekend and this might have affected the whole experience. We had the breakfast buffet on Sunday and Monday morning. The first time, our lovely waitress was excellent and fast with drinks, but everything in the buffet was out of stock. We spent most of the morning trying to eat what was left and waiting for them to restock the food. The next day, there was the same re-stocking problem, no staff, and no plates. I almost wanted to stand at the hostess section and tell all customers that they shouldn't bother with buffet since theres no food for it. To be fair, the manager on Monday morning was hustling to get everyone drinks in his suit. They just really need more staff! The hostess was great on both days helping out with things that were really meant to be server duties. Sunday for lunch we decided to give this place a try since the morning bustle was over with. Our server was nowhere to be seen and we waited 20 mins to get our food from the kitchen. It may not sound like long, but you can see when the order is ready for pick up and it just sits there on the counter. I didnt want to make a fuss about room temperature pizza, so I didnt say anything. I ordered the white pizza, but it was disgusting! Way too much garlic, the crust was a transparent sliver of dough, and the most oil I've seen on a pizza ever. I also never thought I would say this, but it had too much cheese too: an inch thick of cheese on a paper thin crust and I had to take most of the cheese off of it. They had a good recipe, it was just so unproportionally made. My husband got the chicken club sandwich and he would have liked it if they hadn't doused it in vinaigrette. Also, it made it worse that it was pricey and not even good. Please go elsewhere! Even if it's not a holiday weekend, lunch should have been a home run. We are not picky eaters. read more

We were staying at the Hilton for a week while visiting our daughter for Christmas. Decided to have a drink and a small bite when we first arrived. This lobby bar and restaurant seemed like a good quick choice. We ordered drinks a ten inch pizza and a side salad. The drinks were good and the pizza was decent. The salad dressing was flavorless. Pleasant staff and comfortable surroundings. Price was very high for the quality of the food. We tried the place again for lunch a few days later and the Cesar salad was good. The blt with fried green tomatoes was bad. The tomato was hard the bread needed toasting and the other fixings would not stay on. We didn't finish half the food. The bartender makes a good drink and would recommend that only. Had the food been better quality we would have eaten here as it was convenient. read more

It's just ok. I, unfortunately, ended up eating here twice. After traveling all day I had brunch here since it was located in my hotel. The service is good, the restaurant itself is typical of any restaurant located in a hotel lobby. For brunch I had the chicken and waffles. It sounded a lot better on the menu than it actually was...smoked cheddar waffle, spicy fried chicken. It came out more like a bland waffle with fried chicken fingers. After working all day, at close to 10:00 pm, I had just enough time to run downstairs and put a dinner order in. I opted for the white pizza and the cream cheese brownie with ice cream for dessert. I waited about an hour for my pizza. When it did arrive, the manager working brought it out with no apology regarding the wait. I asked her to box it up so I could eat it in my room. She took it away in a huff. The pizza was so salty I couldn't eat it. The brownie tasted of the Sysco frozen food variety. Dinner was the real disappointment of the two meals I had here. It's typical of hotel food but nothing more. I wouldn't make any special trips to eat here unless you're staying at the Hilton and don't feel like/can't venture out for something better. read more

We were there for the soft opening and actually got to meet head chef Peter Maffei. I loved the OPEN kitchen where you could observe the food as it was being cooked and experiencing the wonderful smell that proceeded the food. Our meals were PERFECT in not only appearance but also in taste. His attention to detail also includes inspecting the plate before it goes out to the customer. The new décor is first rate and is comfortable and stylish at the same time. Last but not least the wait staff are almost invisible but are attentive and your glass will not go empty. This is a wonderful restaurant that just happens to inside of the Hilton but don't judge a book by it's cover, the restaurant stands on it's own. read more

Ordered mixed green salad and funghi pizza. Have to say I was disappointed. The decor is chic and modern in the back of the restaurant. But the food did not meet my expectation. I love truffle mushroom pizza, but here you cannot taste any hint of truffle. Mixed green salad had pickeled vegetables which consist of 1 baby carrot and a 1/4 Brussel sprout which did not please the palate along with lemon vinaigrette. Absolutely fantastic! Four of us went for a night out. Appetizers great for sharing - Brie fondue & pretzels with three spreads (both delicious and well done). We also had the shrimp tamale, but as they recommended it was not ideal for sharing. Very tasty though. Main courses were delicious. We had the venison (cooked perfectly), pastrami beef rib (so tender), shrimp & grits (great flavor) and seed crusted snapper (well seasoned and cooked to perfection). Each dish had perfect balancing components on the plate. My only complaint of the night would be the bathroom location is a decent ways away in the lobbby. They did such an amazing job decorating and building the ambiance in the restaurant, which is amazing by the way, it was a bummer to leave the "haven" to walk through a lobby. I ordered an omelet and chose spinach, onion, and Gouda cheese. It came with potato and pepper hash and I asked for a biscuit rather than toast. It came with some yummy whipped butter that had cinnamon and honey it. My husband ordered the brisket hash and some pancakes. The moment the pancakes came out, I had to order some for myself. First off, my family is a Hilton Diamond member. So I'm not slamming the hotel, this hotel is nicer than the Austin Four Season's. I come to Austin frequently for business, and the Downtown Hilton's recently renovated bar/restaurant is strikingly disturbing. They took a nice, formal bar area and turned it into a casual dining experience complete with picnic tables. Yes, indoors. We ventured down for breakfast and unless you were from Europe, this was a disgusting adventure in food. Ordered eggs en concotte (not even going to search if I spelled this correctly) and a charcuterie plate. OMG...duck sausage, duck ham and jalapeño chutney. Seriously? This is Austin Texas. Everything was duck ...duck biscuits, duck gravy. Pancakes with goat cheese! Ah, check please! This is definitely a new chapter to "keeping Austin weird". read more

I had high hopes for this place based on the menu online. I was especially drawn to the cold pressed juice bar that was on their breakfast menu (even more so after going out for NYE). Nice place, but they stop serving breakfast at 11, and the place was starting to clear or when my group arrived for lunch. The breakfast menu looked great, so I may need to come back to try that out (and get the juice). Lunch was good, not great. I had the spicy chicken salad and the chicken was dry and lacked spice, but I did come with hot sauce on the side. The lamb and cheese sandwich was generous with a large serving of meat, but would probably only rank a 6/10 in my book. The cauliflower and ferro comes with a balsamic which is pretty tasty.
