Good sports bar atmosphere but can be absolutely infuriating. I've been dozens of times and it's always hit or miss as to whether or not the waitresses feel like taking your order. I've literally watched them sit around and tell jokes while we wait to order a beer. Not for just a few seconds but minutes on end. The last time we went, they brought the wrong order and when I asked if it was possible to get it redone, she told me it would be over a half an hour. Seriously you screw up and it's my problem. Not sure what the deal is, but it seems like the inmates are running the asylum a lot of the time. That said some of the best wings available and truly different from anything you'll get anywhere else. Could be really good, but as is a problem and a lot of restaurants in this town Servers are hard to find and these ones have seemed to been there for a while. My bf and I came to order out and it was the worst experience. The food order was all wrong. The one item they got right, the wings, were still raw when we got home, so we had to cook them more. I tried to get this corrected and called the store 4 times. Each time there was apparently no manager working.. gave them my info twice, they said they would have a manager call and correct this for me, no call. On one of my four calls, the server stated I had to come back in to the restaurant to get this fixed and gave me a set time and days, however the next time I called (to make sure I don't waste my time coming by) to check to see if a manager was in, the server (a different one from before) told me that the manager doesn't even work those times. I have yet to hear from or see a manager, I am so beyond frustrated as we have ate there before and has been better experiences and the food was great. However, every time I go there, the experience declines drastically as does the food. Don't even bother wasting your time. The place has gone downhill and no one seems to even care about it. So I came to Candlelight per recommendation of a friend who said they have "the best wings in town" and I have to say... I agree. They have definitely perfected the art of crafting the best wings and the best flavors. I had the sweet Thai wings which I'm craving currently as I'm writing this review. To make it even better I got a side of crinkle cut fries to go with it which were also so good! I would also like to highlight that everything came out FRESH & HOT which I am super picky about. Came here because I was told to try the wings. I ordered wings with the flavor based on the waitress's recommendation. Thai chili sauce or something like that. I have food allergies and asked to substitute the hush puppies for fries and was told that there would be a charge for changing it out. Seriously? Fresh and... Frightening review : this happened September 4th I don't even know where to begin. I would like to start off with saying that candlelight will always have the best flavored sauces and wings, no doubt!!! However... after tonight, I cringe thinking about going back. The service is awful. The waitresses forgot what we ordered, she forgot our drinks drinks, simple basic fountain drinks or alcoholic drinks took OVER 30 minutes to come to us. We had to flag down other waiteresses to get our drinks and ensure our order was ever taken tonight. My family came because we really enjoy candlelight's wings, but the service is more than enough for us to stop coming. The waitresses who served us were chaotic with taking orders down, delivering it to the table or remembering what they wrote down (like our orders...) they just didn't seem patient when we were ordering- literally taking off to another table in THE MIDDLE of our order... that's not what a sever is supposed to do. When we made a several complaints because our order was incorrect and took past 30 minutes to come to the table, the waitresses started to avoid us, making us flag down even more different servers to ensure we could get an correction. It was pretty frustrating tonight trying to get service and corrections. We overheard that an couple next to us had waited over an hour for their meals to arrive, and it was not packed when we first arrived. We stayed because the wings are worth it, and they're that good. Had heard great things about this restaurant and it lived up to expectations. The wings were huge! They are served with both the drum and the flat, so don't get confused over a 5 piece price (it's ten wings). They also had great fried banana peppers. The beer selection is great, with a ton of local beers, and the cocktail menu is awesome. There were at least 10 TVs, all showing sports. It's definitely an awesome sports bar. I stumbled on this place just over the Bridge of Lions when my nephew insisted we try the wings. They ain't cheap but when you see them you will better understand. Been going to candlelight Inn in NY for over 10 years, recently I moved to Orlando Florida and thought i wouldn't have those amazing for a long time. Until a friend sent me a picture from the menu board in NY saying that they were opening up a location in St. Augustine. I couldn't have been happier and as soon I got a chance my gf and I along with some friends made the two hour trip up to St. Agustine. From the moment we walked in we received such great service. Everyone was extremely friendly and when we told them we had been to the location in NY they went and got George (the owner) who is the brother of the owners in NY. He was a great host routinely checking in on us and giving us background on what made him bring the candlelight to Florida. In one trip to Candlelight South I learned more about the history of the candlelight inn than I did in NY. Now to why we were there, the WINGS and boy they didn't disappoint one bit. I ordered a small (5 piece) hot for everyone at the table and they tasted exactly the same, It took me back to the Candlelight Inn in NY with every bite. I also ordered the crinkle fries with jalapeño cheese which were identical and my gf and friends ordered the waffle fries which they all loved. For dessert we ordered the cookie ala mode and it was amazing. Through out the night I couldn't stop thanking George for bringing the greatest wings in the world to Florida and we all agreed that it was worth the 2 hour trip and that we would return soon. read more

So I was super excited to try this place since I've heard good things. I ordered a burger and fries. The burger was good, it was a little over cooked but I ordered the smaller burger and that sized pattie is always harder to cook medium rare. So if you like your burger cooked like I do the. Get the bigger burger. The bun was toasted which I like and the fries were very crispy and there were plenty of them. Shane was fantastic and so helpful! Started with the banana peppers! They were so so good! The side of waffle fries is crispy and perfectly seasoned. Kids burger was huge! Kids boneless bites absolutely filled the plate! You can never go wrong with the original wings. The new black and blue shrimp salad was ridiculously delicious! A pile of shrimp and just the right amount of blackening. I would give it a five but it's also a bar so the language was a little rough with kids. In town for a girl's trip & one of our friends HAD to come here bc she loved the location in NY where she's from. From the moment we opened the door, the other 4 of us knew this was NOT going to be a place we would enjoy. It was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think & it was barely a step above a dive bar. But we tried to be hopeful the food would be good. Three of us ordered chicken bacon ranch quesadillas. When the food runner brought them out (not our server), 2 of the 3 were burnt, all 3 were dry, bland & mine in particular wasn't even edible because of the amount of char on it. The attached picture was the middle one in terms of burnt/char; mine was easily twice as burnt. I literally had 3 bites & couldn't stomach it. Our server never came to check on us for me to even say anything about it, so When she finally did come back, most of the table was finished eating. I calmly & politely told her she needed to let the kitchen staff know that it was inedible & I didn't need it remade. I didn't want them to waste the food since we were just visiting & even the one I burnt one wasn't good. I wasn't nasty at all to the server, I just simply said I didn't want it. She took the tray with an attitude & was gone a very long time; when she returned, she had everyone's checks but mine. She said she didn't charge me for my meal & they were making a new one. I thanked her & told her again I wasn't interested in it being remade. She once again was rather rude & insisted they were redoing it. When she brought it back she set it in front of me & said "is this ok?" At this point I just wanted to get out of there. It was a loud, nasty dive bar atmosphere & 4 of the 5 meals were forgettable at best. Do yourself a favor, save your money & go to McDonalds because the food & service are better there. read more

With a side of the hot date pepper sauce. OMG! This combo is awesome! My friend got the reuben and it was 100%! Why you ask, the bacon was chunks of hard bacon that you couldn't even chew, why does these so called chefs feel the need to deep fry bacon. The chicken processed by Perdue was not freshly cooked real chicken if I wanted Perdue Shortcuts I'd make this at home. Barely ranch dressing and fake shredded cheese. The food is pretty good but had a not-so-good recent experience. We ordered take-out through their online system and it said it would be ready about 30 minutes after we put in the order. So I show up at the restaurant to pick it up and they say it's not quite ready and it will be a few minutes. No big deal I think - I understand the times are somewhat approximate. So then another twenty minutes goes by and it's STILL not ready. I inquire and they apologize saying they got hit with a lot of orders at once. Ok, frustrating, but I understand these things happen. Another full 40 MINUTES goes by before I finally get the food - a total of one hour AFTER it was supposed to be ready for pick-up. I had also asked for a couple of desserts that I couldn't place online order for because they didn't have desserts in their online system. I figure surely because of an hour wait they'll offer these for free - after all , I had already spent $60 with them and left a generous tip with their online when I placed the order and before any of the waiting problems surfaced. A tip I probably would not have left after being made to wait an hour. The server doesn't offer these for free so I say " shouldn't these kind of be comped given the situation"? She says something to the effect of "Sorry, our manager doesn't usually allow this". Taken a bit aback, I ask is it's possible for me to speak to him/her. She says " sorry, he's busy in the back helping out in the kitchen". So I'm not sure what's going on with the management of this place but, it's one thing to have staffing/timing problems with the food but a completely different level of management problem if the staff/management is so indifferent to the results of their problems that they can't comp a couple of desserts or even be bothered to talk to a customer about it. And believe me, this wasn't a full 'Karen' situation or anything as I was very understanding and curteous up to this point. I felt a 'good' restaurant would have just returned our money and apologized profusely for an almost 1.5 hour total wait for a pickup order. So to not even be willing to comp a couple of cheap desserts felt more like a middle finger to someone who otherwise had been very understanding about their issues. Buyer beware... read more

The servers are definitely getting over worked here and you could see it in their performance. I guess they are open 6 days a week and only one day off for the all of them. Besides the over tired and maybe fed up server we had. Our food was pretty good. We split a blackened mahi mahi sandwhich, sweet potato and regular French fries.
