I walked in, asked for a $28 cake and some other treats. Leaving I felt over charged so I called to check the price. I was over charged $20. Maybe they entered the wrong cake. Called and they verified via camera, I got a bigger cake than I asked for. I paid more but it's not what I wanted. I've been coming here for 3 years to get treats and our anniversary cake. I understand I got what I paid for but I didn't get or pay for what I asked for. I feel the right thing to do would be refund the difference or at least split it. Stopped here while in town. I was craving a cannoli and the reviews said they sold them here, and surprisingly, they were the only bakery open at the time of the morning. The cannoli's were good. They had two options, plain and with shaved chocolate. I wish they had more options like crushed pistachio, or strawberries, more variety. I also purchased a few wedding cookies and they were good as well. Overall, I would say it's good but not great. It does look like their focus was on cakes, so maybe their cakes are amazing. My husband found out about this place from his coworkers. After trying a piece of cake they bought, he immediately went to the bakery after work and bought: 1) Red velvet - more rich, and creamy but tastes so good , strawberry topping 2) Tiramisu - light fluffy and just the hint of rum, so very good. Love it He went back the next day and bought the napoleon cake $30 for 8 inch because he said that was the one that he tried at work and it was awesome. We tried it at home and it was delicious! Spoiled fruit!! I purchased 2 cakes for my daughter's promotion, the first cake had spoiled fruit, the second cake was fine. I picked up the first cake on 6/4. We picked it up after 3pm as arranged. The business closes at 6pm. It was a white cake with peach and strawberry. The cake looked nice. We put it in the refrigerator until we served it. At 8pm, we served it to our guests and the fruit filling inside was bad. It tasted spoiled. I was so embarrassed! We all did our best to still enjoy the cake by eating around the filling. Needless to say it all ended up in the trash. So disappointed! I didn't contact candlelight at that moment since I knew they were closed and I was going back there to get the second cake the next day. When I arrived I explained what happened to the worker. She went to alert the manager. She came back and said, that they need the cake back to issue a partial refund and that noone else had a complaint. Insinuating that I was lying. I told her we cut and served the cake and its in the trash. She said i would need to bring the cake back. I asked how when we served it and tossed it. She said next time, if this happens, we are to put all the cut prices back in the box and bring it back to them. I couldn't believe it. I have been going to candlelight for years for cakes. Such bad and poor service. Very disappointed!! I will say that the second cake was the napoleon and that was perfect. We had our Gender reveal cake done here. I first called to ask if they made gender reveal cakes because apparently not all bakery's do. The lady over the phone was super sweet. They close early so I had to have my hubby come get it done for us, he took the unopened envelope and had the ladies open to peek and not say a thing. This is a great spot for custom cakes! I had to get a birthday cake so I came here. They have en extensive book of designs, cake styles, and cake sizes. We ordered a Halloween themed birthday cake made of tres leches. It was sooooo good! Not too sweet or soaked. Great texture and consistency. Price was great for the value. The cake itself was very dry and lacking flavor. The fresh, chopped strawberries were indeed, fresh. So that was appreciated. Over all, I would order again from this bakery. I just wouldn't order their plain, vanilla cake. I'd try their other products which looked really tasty in their display case. Found this place through a friend. Dropped by last night close to 6pm to grab a cake. My friend said they had a cake that had a flaky pastry layer, so I had to read some reviews to find it was the Napoleon cake (though I think I kept calling it Neopolitan). I was happy to find they had one ready to go. :) The gal who helped me was very friendly and helpful! The one thing that was odd (maybe I haven't bought cakes enough in my lifetime to know this could be normal) was they charged for a cake knife. I'm assuming it was plastic, however, was told they do not provide. They also charge for candles ($1.50/box, they also sell numbered candles which I'm unsure the pricing of), which may not be as unusual as the cake knife situation. I know I've gotten free candles from asian bakeries, so maybe this was something I shouldn't have assumed could be a complimentary add on. What they do not sell, are matches. So make sure you have a lighter or something to light up because you won't be able to purchase anything to get the candles flaming here. :) Now that I know, and upon eating the cake to know the level of deliciousness it offers, I will be better prepared with the necessities next time if I need to run out to grab a cake to meet up friends immediately. PS The cake had a very moist, smooth spongey cake center and thin layer of light flakey pastry with custard. I usually scrape off the frosting, but I actually liked it SO much! I heard this the owners of this bakery also owns or bakes for Bakers & Baristas, this now all makes sense given my love for the cakes there. I also don't scrape off their frosting. Lol. So glad I found this place, I need to figure out who in my life has a birthday next or a celebration so that I'll have an excuse to purchase a cake from here. :) ...or I did also hear they sell slices, so I may pop in on a random sweet craving day for myself. haha.
