On my way out, he followed me toward the door and told me he "hoped I'd do something stupid." That's a direct quote, and it's not how most bars say goodnight. In fairness, maybe he was having a rough night. Running a bar can't be easy, and we've all had moments we'd take back. I want to extend that benefit of the doubt before anything else. That said, escalating toward a customer on the way out the door is a moment that sticks with you. If he owns the place, it might be worth a beat of reflection on how that interaction landed. If he doesn't, the people who do might want to know how guests are being seen off. Denver has a lot of warm, welcoming bars, and on the strength of this visit I'd point friends to one of those first.
