I stopped in one day to inquire about reserving a couple of tables for a group of 15. I was told that they don't take reservations, so I just left. First time even though it's only 2 blocks from my house. I waited with several other people just before 10am. I started with a pint of Guinness Stout. I saw a card about splitting the G and took photos. Normally, Guinness would be served in a glass instead of a plastic cup. The first floor has a large bar plus an area for bands and/or dancing. The back patio has a retractable roof. There is an adjacent space called The Limerick Room for rentals with a separate bar. Two separate stairs to the rooftop overlooking Broadway and a back bar. I got the Corned Beef and cabbage with mashed potatoes for $18. I added Curry Fries for $8. My 2nd drink was Magners Cider. Nice flavor. The corned beef was fork tender. They were handing out complimentary sunglasses sponsored by Jameson and green bead chains. Everyone had green attire. I ordered the Guinness at the front bar. Great brunch spot along Broadway. Have visited here a few times for their bottomless mimosas-a steal of a deal at $10 with an order of any entree. I went with the Bloody Mary- not bottomless- today, but still on point for a traditional brunch drink. You can order breakfast food or lunch during brunch hours. Having recently changed their menu, I chose the falafel wrap with fries. It was a great selection. Others in the party opted for burgers and chicken fingers. Good all the way around. The service was a bit slow today which is an unusual description of the service as they are usually on par with refills and condiment requests. Oh my GOD! The Sheppard Pie had me and my partner, Ernestine (pictured here), SCREAMING. I literally just told my partner Ern (short for Ernestine) that if I was in prison (LOL) and had the choice of a final meal, I would order FIVE SHEPPARD PIES. SO FREAKING GOOD. The meat? Delectable. The peas? Otherworldly. The Mash? Finger-licking. The chef does a tremendous job of balancing this classic dish with his own unique spin with spices. My partner and I also had 12 Coors Light's each to help polish down the pie and let's just say the one mountains were BLUE LOL. I had a really fun time at this pub, I went for a beer and to see their comedy show which was quite casual and only allowed each comic 3 minutes which kept things interesting and lively. I saw a few people get food but that's definitely not what people go here for, the comedy seems to be more of a drawing factor. The rooftop is a nice vibe to escape the loudness of the show, and everything was pretty well maintained and cleaned which made me feel comfortable. Total disclosure: we spent HOURS here, lol, one Sunday afternoon. And we had a great a time. The bar staff is friendly and accommodating - we moved locations several times, just to mix it up, and your tab can move with you, or you can cash out like we did and start anew. We enjoyed lunch right before coming to The Irish Rover Pub and so didn't immediately order food. Hours later, though, we share some pretzel bites. These guys were really tasty and cooked well. Drink prices were affordable (did I mentioned we stayed for hours - this should speak volumes all by itself, lol) and their selection was diverse as well. Most of the comics were not very funny, but I applaud them for getting up there and trying! I recognized a couple from comedy works new talent night. Such a great bar with amazing food! We went here for our night out in this area. The bar looks small when you walk in but when you go upstairs where they serve food it's surprisingly very big. The heaters are great and the tables with the fire pit things are so cute. Lighting is also cute as well. Our server was nice and it didn't take too long to get our orders in. I decided to get a martini on the rocks for some reason which I never do and it wasn't great lol. My friends got some kind of whiskey coffee drink off of the pretty big coffee drinks menu they had and their drinks were really really good. I also had the Reuben egg rolls and they were so so good. I was happy with this portion as an entree for myself even though it is an appetizer. They are surprisingly big and filling. And they came out piping hot. I would definitely get these again.
