Awesome energy and wall decor! I was drawn to the aesthetic of this place and thoroughly enjoyed the folks frequenting this cute lil bar. I'd definitely recommend this as a laid-back place to hang out!

Of the multitude of bars along Broadway, TrashHawk Tavern is in the top ten for me. The commitment to the "trash hawk" aka raccoon theme is evident in every detail down to the "trashy" menu and chotskies that are definitely pulled from the trash - on purpose. TrashHawk offers good drinks at reasonable prices and is a good locale to start (or finish) your evening off with. Service can be a little bit slow from time to time, but that is because there are a ton of people trying to order drinks from the one bartender on shift. The plus side of this, is that you get to look at all the decor and fun raccoons hidden about while waiting for your drinks. There is always a food truck on site and the food trucks rotates throughout the week. Having been on Westword's 100 Bars You Can't Live Without for a third year in a row since I've started reading, it most definitely is a place to visit! The bathroom decor is a must see for sure - hilarious!

Had a great time with my gal pals for my birthday celebration at TrashHawk. I love the curated decor that makes you feel like you're in someone's home. Their happy hour is an incredible deal: BOGO Free M-F 2-6pm and S/S 12-6pm. I love their Trash Drinks. Strong cocktails (most are doubles!) served in pint glasses with names like Old Balls, Trash Mom, The Broseph, and my fav, Baby Girl (double tall vodka soda). They let you bring in your own snacks which was a plus for us since we had birthday cupcakes. You need to go to the bar to order your own drinks. It was a busy afternoon with our large group and several others watching college football so service was a little slow. This will not deter me from going again and again as Erin was great to work with to get a space reserved.

Huge thanks to Bridget for the wonder service in this cute local spot on South Broadway! I didn't try any food, but our bartender was very thoughtful in recommending a few options to compliment the oakiness of Casamigos. I decided on a margarita, which I usually try to avoid the standard dive-bar sweet and sour poorly constructed tequila nightmare. My marg was pretty fantastic, and I ordered a second over my go-to sour beer because Bridget's marg was better. Let's talk about Fox, Bridget's amazing dog, he was the coolest and best behaved dog I've met aside from my own. He's partly the reason we decided to stop in! Ambiance is awesome; the music could be louder, but at least we could hear each other's conversation! The Xmas lights are fun and brighten the space in a comfortable casual way.

When entering TrashHawk your eye is immediately drawn to all of the paraphernalia on the walls and ceiling. Apparently the owner had collected a lot of the stuff from her grandmother's basement and vintage stores. This gives the place a very cozy feel. We needed an extra chair for our table, and the bartender, Maddy, suggested we grab a chair from the back. I was shocked when I went up the stairs and around the corner to discover a big additional space in the back! My favorite decor was the wallpaper in the bathrooms. Both of the bathroom's walls are plastered with old Life Magazine ads, one bathroom had liquor ads and the other has cigarette ads. Definitely warrants lingering a bit long on the toilet seat to see them all :). It was a Sunday afternoon and happy hour, and the drinks were cheap and unique - just how I like them! I had the Lil" Smidge (Malibu, Well Rum, and Pineapple with Sprite & soda water) which hit the spot, and Maddy kept them coming. They have popcorn, chips and lunchables available, but you are allowed to bring in your own food. As we were leaving a food truck pulled up out front, and I was told they have rotating food trucks regularly.

This place is connected to the Hilltop Inn and has an inviting appeal. SERVICE: Walked into Burns Pub and immediately we were greeted by Alex who also became our server- he is full of fantastic energy! Sat outside bc it was a gorgeous sunny day. Alex checked in on us frequently and very personable. We'll keep him. DRINKS: Wife had a draft on tap that was delightful. I went with an old fashioned bc I am a bourbon girl at heart- given the extensive whisky and scotch selection I was SHOCKED when my drink came with standard ice cubes. While the simple syrup was also a little heavier than I prefer, the drink was still made well. But I got stuck on the ice - You can't offer such high quality whiskies that only get diluted by an ice machine! (Yes, I am a snob when it comes to bourbon); it's deception, and it's quite literally the only reason I knocked a star off this review. FOOD: Wife had the savory pie of the day which was southwest style with beef tenderloin and green Chile. While we joke that Colorado often "overdoes it with the green chile" this was a lovely harmony of flavors. Puff pastry to lop was perfect. I can only imagine their shepherds pie is also phenomenal. I had the short rib sandwich- my g*d. It was massive but I easily devoured the whole thing. Ratio meat to bread and flavor profile was all on point. Came with chips on the side fried to perfection. We even indulged with the decadent Guinness brownie (with vanilla ice cream and cocoa nibs on top)- WORTH IT! OVERALL: t's a hidden gem that I would def return to, but maybe I'll get a beer instead of a cocktail....

The two guys working the bar, Josh and Jake, are super friendly and made us feel like they've known us forever. That was awesome. Such a great neighborhood bar vibe. There's a great selection at the bar. I tried the seasonal porter and went so far to have another when I finished the first one. Josh and I talked about porter beers for a bit. The food selection is great and the food itself was awesome. No complaints. Great sized portions, the Cubano Sandwich exceeded my expectations, and we had the stuffed tater tots (tater kegs?) as an appetizer. Again, outstanding. As mentioned, even though it was our first time there we were made to feel like some of the regulars through conversation and the like. The crowd is eclectic. And, having lived in Chicago for a while, it was fun to do a shot of Malört with the bartenders and some of the other folks sitting at the bar. Go here. One of the best experiences I've had in this type of establishment in years.

We kicked things off with the Tater Kegs basically five mega tots stuffed with bacon, chive, and cheddar. They were insanely good. I could've easily taken down another order, but I knew what was coming next... the wings. These bad boys are smoked for 12 hours, then fried up and dunked in house made sauces that taste like they've been perfected over time. We went with Kicking Bourbon (sweet with a little heat) and Alabama White Sauce (creamy, tangy perfection). The blue cheese and ranch are homemade...you can actually taste the difference and the fries? Crispy, golden, and gone way too fast. To wash it down, I grabbed a local Kölsch on tap; icy cold, light, and spot-on with the wings. And the vibe? Perfect mix of chill and fun. The bartenders were super friendly, the music hit right, and the whole place just had that "local favorite" energy. Honestly, Wild Corgi Pub is one of those spots that doesn't try too hard it just nails it. Good food, good people, good beer. That's all you need. I'll definitely hit this spot again when we return for another weekend getaway!

Staff is informative and friendly. We got the: 1) Chips and Curry: -It's house made fries and curry sauce. -I'm used to Japanese curry, so I'm always a little bit taken aback when the curry has a bit of sweetness to it, but delicious either way. Slightly sweet and savory curry with lots of layered spices to it. Went deliciously with the chips. 2) English Breakfast: -Comes with 2 eggs (your choice for the style), rashers (thick cured pork), bangers (sausage), baked beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast, and we added some black pudding for $2. -Always get English breakfast when you get a chance to. Filling and comforting. Great diversity of textures and savory, salty, and umami flavors. Gotta get the black pudding too. 3) Scotch Egg: -Comes with spicy mustard. -I LOVE scotch eggs. I'm a low key hardboiled egg enjoyer, so the addition of the sausage layer around with the deep fried breadcrumbs and dipped in mustard? Divine. I will always order this when I see it and this was good! 4) Honey Mustard Chicken Sandwich: -You get a choice of fries or tots. We got the tots. -It's made with bacon, Swiss cheese, tomato, and onion. -It's alike a nice twist and upgrade to a grilled cheese sandwich. Sweetness from honey mustard, saltiness and crispiness from the bacon, juicy tomatoes. Good stuff. Make sure to use the mustard and HP sauce. Good stuff!
