The service here is pretty good! The person taking our order walked us through a lot of questions we had and was very attentive when our foods came. You order first, then it's self seating. The ambiance totally suits the environment of being outdoors. The price was more than fair and the servings were more than enough. The chicken was cooked so perfectly. The potatoes were so crisp and well seasoned on the outside and super tender and soft on the inside. The beef sandwich was also great, not dry and huge. I had just done the Narrow's hike and worked up QUITE the appetite. I wanted something fast and filling but also tasty and casual since I was exhausted. I found Camp Outpost on Yelp and made my way over. It was perfect. It's a casual counter service spot but the food is elevated. The self describe as "camp fare" and you'll find hearty dishes like rotisserie chicken, pork roast, and sausages. Thinks you can imagine are easily cooked over a fire! They also have sandwiches and salads rounding out the menu. I went with their fried chicken sandwich which came with a side of fries. I also saw an order of their crispy brussels sprouts go by and added a plate to my order. It's under the shareables portion of the menu and it was a shareable portion, indeed! Way more than I could eat by myself, even at a calorie deficit from my hike! The chicken sandwich was also SO good. Perfectly crispy but not greasy or heavy feeling. It was served with pickled red onions, arugula, pickles, and a spicy aioli on a brioche bun. The aioli had a slight kick to it but it wasn't VERY spicy, which was good for a weakling like me. If you want more oomph maybe ask them for some hot sauce. The best part? Once i was done eating I could roll my way to my hotel without having to wait to settle up the bill. It's a counter service restaurant and their pricing was about the same as other restaurants in the area. We have been looking for good dinner places every night while in Zion. Again, I went with the Yelp reviews and food photos. I ordered a kids burger with all the fixins of an adult burger and sweet potato fries. My husband got the double cheeseburger ( we forget the name they use and their regular fries that come with the burger. We both have already had a burger in Zion and both had very disappointing dry meat. These burgers were delicious. My sweet potato fries were some of the best I have had. The regular fries were just so-so. They did forget to upgrade my fries to sweet potato but corrected it quickly. You order at the counter and they give you a number and bring the food to you. Perfect spot for a post Zion meal. The parking lot was being redone and a little sketchy but we decided to roll with it and glad we did. The salads were delicious (along with the bread with it!) as were the burgers and sandwiches. It's counter order but they have people that come to refill your water and check how things are. The only downside to this place is that it's a little pricey, however, we found it to be worth every penny. The fried chicken sandwich was to die for, probably in the top 5 I've ever had. As many national park we have been to we have never had a bad experience with customer service. Burgers were exactly what a burger should be: savory/juicy, light char on outside. Condiments, bun & fries were fresh. Was my favorite meal. Try the fried pickles, they're good. Rotisserie chicken also delicious: just what you want after a long day hiking: juicy, crispy, and cooked all the way through. Pork roast is good, comes thinly pre-sliced which makes it a tad dry, however it's paired with sauces & grits which balance the meal. Christmas Day special was a 10-15 oz prime rib with Mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, steamed spinach - the whole meal for one was good and plenty of food for two. Camp outpost. Kind of an odd name for a restaurant, but they serve incredible food! We came here FOUR times during our stop in Zion - that's how good it is. We tried a lot of different plates while we were here: the chicken plate (10/10), sausage plate (10/10), slow roasted pork sandwich (6/10 but I had a GF bun), fried chicken sandwich (8/10), camp burger (10/10), hummus (7/10), and Brussels sprouts (8/10). My favorite was by far the chicken plate, the rotisserie chicken was the most elite and flavorful rotisserie chicken I've ever had, and the chimichurri potatoes were the perfect sidekick. The sausage plate was also fantastic, 3 different tasty bangers with just the right accoutrements beneath. The last night we came, the manager gave us a free hummus too! We also had some drinks (prickly pear margarita and Paloma) that were both excellent. If you need a place to fuel up after nearly dying on angels landing, this place will hit the spot. read more

The sausage plate and camp burger were disappointing. Normally I bring back leftovers but not the sausage plate. Veggies were greasy and only the cauliflower was seasoned (but too salty). The corn in my sausage plate was the the real kicker as I'm not sure what food prep or age sucked all the moisture and flavor out of it. The one thing I did enjoy and carry out was my Coca-Cola. Service was equally lacking; my drink was forgotten twice, only arriving after multiple reminders. To add to the frustration, a surcharge was imposed without my knowledge, and gratuity was expected upfront at the time of payment--an unusual practice given the level of service provided. Came here around 1 pm on a Thursday. The place was not too busy with 1 party in front of us. I ordered the Camp Caesar ($14.95) and asked to add rotisserie chicken (+$5.95). The older male cashier abruptly said "we don't have any rotisserie chicken to add to a salad. You can order the 1/4, 1/2, or whole chicken but none is available for a salad. I can give you a plain Caesar". HUH?!! Seriously? That doesn't make sense but ok. I had to frantically decide on a pork sandwich with sweet potato fries instead. My husband and daughter split a Mission Salad ($14.95) with grilled shrimp (+$6.95) plus a side of sweet potato fries. We asked for water but he didn't give us any. The guy seemed to have the "I am doing you a favor" attitude. It took over 20 minutes to get our food. My sandwich was decent although it had 2 slices of breaded and fried lemon slices; the rinds were too bitter so I removed them. The salad was ok but had too much dressing.
