Hubby and I went here on a Monday night around 7:30 p.m. and it was not busy at all. The restaurant is very colorful and clean. We got seated right away. We split a queso blanco and chicken fajitas. This was more than enough food for the 2 of us. A single order of fajitas provides 3 tortillas and a whole chicken breast. I also ordered a Grand Rita, which was very strong. Everything was seasoned really well, and the chicken was moist and flavorful. There was nothing but crumbs left. Jose Luis G did great checking up on us and keeping waters full. Do not come here for their weekend brunch. The food may be better during the week but the weekend brunch is a complete joke. First of all they posted on social media (see below) of all the food they had to offer. They had eggs, bacon, fruit, enchiladas beans and rice No tacos, carnitas bar or bbq was offered other than two slices of turkey. I grabbed a couple of enchiladas and beans. The beans were completely tasteless and the enchiladas were burnt and super greasy. When asking the server, who was great and why I left one star, tried her best and she herself couldn't understand. I was a little skeptical to try Camila's based on the reviews. We went with a party of 4 for dinner on a Friday night. I ordered the guacamole, 2 puffy beef tacos, 1 beef enchilada with no cheese, and a frozen margarita. Our waitress Elizabeth was very sweet and accommodating. The guac was ok, but needed a little salt. I modified my dinner based off of my dislike for melted cheese. I asked for no cheese on my enchiladas and tacos but my plate arrived covered in cheese. It was so much that the entire plate had chees on it. My rice and beans were even stuck to the plate in the cheese. The puffy taco was not puffy, it was a flour tortilla that was fried. The filling was lacking in flavor and had an odd consistency. The rice and beans were good and flavorful but I was only able to taste a small amount due to the cheese. I saw this place from TikTok and wanted to try it. I was AMAZED!!! The atmosphere is bright, colorful, and fun. Our waitress was nice and helpful with letting us try samples of things. Y'all, we ordered the Tejas Smoked Cheese and my tastebuds died and came back! That has to be THEE BEST smoked cheese I've ever had! The margaritas were delicious! Be careful when ordering a medium and a large though. Their medium size is about the size of a jumbo size at other Mexican restaurants. The salsa had a smoky taste and was delicious. The "Scorpion Sauce" is smooth at first but then it quickly STINGS with a spicy punch! It's addicting though and that comes from someone who can't take spice that well. As long as you have some type of liquid ready to sip, you'll be okay. Lol! I ordered the Brisket Fajitas and those happen to be THEE BEST fajitas I've ever tasted!! The food was pretty dang good! And the atmosphere was also pleasant. However, the service was not the best. We were one of 4/5 other tables of people during early lunch and the service was still poor. We never got refills until our food was brought out, server didn't come to check on us throughout the dining experience and that was disappointing. We really like this place and highly encourage people to give it a shot. I do not understand the reviews on here. Google reviews is like 4.5 out of 5. The bartender (Ariel) is so awesome. The manager, Jose, is super nice and was really accommodating to my wife's food allergies. The margaritas are made with fresh lime juice. The scorpion queso is amazing!! I normally don't talk down on businesses nor do I normally leave bad reviews b/c I'm just not that type of person. But yet here we are. Me & my wife went to Camila's after a date night to wind down the evening. Now mind you, we've frequented this restaurant a few times before in the past with no complications. On this particular evening the restaurant was not busy at all. I would say maybe 1/3 full. The hostess took us to our seats & this is where it all began to unravel @ the seams. Now please keep in mind....they're not busy. There were more of the staff members cleaning up than there were attending the patrons. As I stated before, we were seated & waited....for over 20 minutes & no one came to take drink orders nor place out chips & salsa. I tried to be patient but that's not how a food business is ran. After 20 minutes & no one came to take our order, we politely got up & left. As we were leaving out, I spoke to the hostess. She looked at me & my wife's face & knew that something wasn't right. So she went to confront who was suppose to be our server who was "working" hard @ not paying attention to her section (see the video). I did go back inside to talk to the manager but it seems as though he was occupied with not really caring. He did say that he would address the mishap but I won't put my faith in that due to how he seemed kind of nonchalant about it. Will I go back? Maybe....maybe not. All I will say is this, you won't be in business for long when you don't have patrons to support it. Also keep in mind that we went to another restaurant within the community & was seated within 2 minutes. In that 2 minutes of being seated our server was @ our table & took drink & appetizer orders within 5 minutes. When she came back with our drinks, we were able to place our entree order & had our food hot, fresh & on the table within 20 minutes after our first initial contact. So there's no excuse. Two stars because the Coca Cola was good. We will start with food. Dirty bird. 34 dollars for a half a chicken that was deprived of proper nutrition. It was the size of a Cornish hen at most. Flavor was sub par and the actual chicken was rubbery. Same with the skin. Personally what I had. Supposedly had like butter, but gave me a sliced lime. Overall, it was kind of tender and the seasoning was under whelming. The charro beans I got, beans under cooked I believe, actual broth was completely murky and the taste was good but definitely not clean. Rushed more like. 1-1/ gave it a 1 Coleslaw was a 1 cause it was warm and didn't taste like coleslaw at all. The corn was cold as hell but was also not what corn should taste like. So it gets a 1. Service. She didn't even try. Plates never removed. We removed them and put them on the next table to us. When food was coming out, she was too busy speaking to her sugar daddy about being upside down on her car payment. When told that my son didn't like the food at all, she just shrugged it off and kept on her way. Service got a 2 out of ten. Due to her. Never will we ever come back. As many reviews mention, it's a bit pricey here, but even more so when the waitstaff takes the liberty of "can we get a couple of quesos for the table" to bring two large quesos. When ordering our food we were not asked what type of beans, I made it a point to give preference for charro beans. Ambience is okay. Booths are very stiff. Tables are close and had to walk way out of the way to get to the restrooms. Service was a bit slow and at one point we couldn't find our waiter for a good 15 min wanting our checks. We came to Camilas Sunday afternoon for a birthday celebration, there was 11 at our table. Elizabeth was our server, she was delightful with a wonderful smile, knowledgeable of the menu and was very quick, detailed and hospitable with her service. The ambiance is decorated tastefully with Dia Los Muertos and Mexican Pop art. Not over decorated with tackey knick-knacks and silly beer crates that collect dust. The entire restaurant was very clean, especially the restrooms, which were actively cleaned during our visit. All of the staff were kind and courteous. The chips and salsa were very good, we ordered guacamole as our appetizer which was good. I had a small Camilarita, and this was a pleasantly fresh tasting Margarita garnished with a lime wheel and diced strawberries. Not too sweet, sour or strong, just right. For lunch I had the Pistolero Tacos (Birria tacos) which were garnished with a spicy "mayo" type dressing with fresh onions, cilantro and pickled red onions. Consume on the side for dipping was very nice and beefy and not too salty. My dinner was very good. My kids each had the Bandito Burrito with ground beef, they also enjoyed their meals. My parents had the fajita's and added pork ribs, which they enjoyed. I had a taste of the ribs, and they were succulent, smokey with a long-lasting flavor, excellent in my opinion. My sister-in-law had a quesadilla, she didn't care for too much. My nephew had cheese enchiladas; he ate them but said they were strange tasting with too much cheese everywhere. I thought his plate looked sloppy and unappetizing. Our friend ordered chicken tortilla soup which she enjoyed. For dessert we had Tres leches cake, churros and sopapillas. Everything came out with vanilla ice cream on the side. I had a bite of the Tres leches cake, amazing!! Not too sweet and spiced perfectly with cinnamon. What. The. Hell?!? On our first visit May 17th we were impressed and excited about this new restaurant. Then we went back on Friday night, nine days later, and it wasn't just less - It was, in a word, terrible. Both entrees were dried out, bland, and essentially tasteless. My wife's chicken was tough, dry and chewy - It had been smoked long ago and sitting somewhere for way too long before it came to us. The rice and beans which we had loved so much the first visit tasted like old rice and dry beans clumped together. My carnitas had so little flavor that it was essentially invisible. No amount of salt or sauce could save it. The only thing we liked from the whole meal was their shrimp cocktail. For $20 it should be good, and it is - five medium sized shrimp hanging on the lip and another four or five swimming in a delicious Mexican cocktail sauce. And once again we found their house margarita to be closer to flavored water than any margarita we've ever had. Here's how bad the meal was: my wife actually complained - ! We started off with one very nice waitress who was inexplicably replaced partway through the meal by a very professional young lady who appeared to be a more senior server. Not sure why. At the end of the meal she asked us, how was everything? and my wife, for the first time that I can remember, actually said "I'm sorry but it just wasn't very good tonight". Our waitress did ask "Why didn't you tell me?" and I guess we could have - during the one and only time she stopped by during the entire meal, to deliver a single glass of water. I don't get it. How can a restaurant's food go from exciting, inviting and delicious to dried out and tasteless in nine days?? I suppose we should give them another chance since they're batting .500. That's great in baseball, but not so much for a restaurant. I'm pretty sure that was our last visit. What a shame. read more

We found Camilia's after walking out of The Whistle Stop Cafe from yet another bad experience there. The restaurant was almost empty for a Thursday night. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered two beef fajita plates and a side of guacamole. The bill came to $70. $27 for each beef fajita plate and $ 9 for the guacamole. I don't mind paying for good food but this is WAY overpriced. The fajita meat cooked medium was practically raw and that is from a person who likes his steak mooing. The plate I ordered as well done was cooked perfectly without overcooking. There were 6 strips of fajita meat on each plate. You could make 3 tacos if you were sparing with the meat. The tortillas came in foil wrapped packs of 3. The guacamole looked nice without any browning and tasted good. The $9 guacamole side was mostly lettuce with three tablespoons of guacamole. The pico de gallo was disgusting and should not have been served. It was beginning to turn dark colors and rot. It is cheap to make so why serve that crap when your prices are so high? I waited 30 min to get my food and it was just slightly warm. I have no idea what took so long. Overall, I won't be back. By FAR the best Mexican in Conroe! Cheese enchiladas, tamales, carne asada, refried beans & smoked black beans were amazing!!! Solid salsa, chips and excellent tortillas. We have tried at least 15 Mexican places in Conroe, and hands down the winner. We almost gave up the quest, and are glad we didn't. Carolina was our server both times and I would ask for her by name. Margaritas tasted like bad tap water. The music is so loud. Chairs are uncomfortable. Waited 5 minutes to be seated despite 10 empty tables on a Friday night. They must be short staffed. Was seated for 10 minutes before a waitress turned up. Drinks took another 15 minutes for a beer and a margarita. Food was super salty, even for Mexican food. Refried and charro beans were all liquid and very few beans (who goes light on the beans?!?) Visited after church one day got the queso Loco, which is just quesadilla cheese burnt onto a cast-iron pan with little things of cilantro and little amounts of chorizo underneath. No flavor at all. Also came out with like just a handful of homemade chips that were just put on the plate like they just threw them on Presentation was not appealing at all and then we both got the smoked Carnitas no smoked flavor at all. The tortillas were cold. Rice and beans were cold. Carnitas had no flavor. I have more salt on the upper part of my lip when I mow my grass then the whole plate of Carnitas will not be back there is better text max almost anywhere else in Conroe very disappointed that we wasted our money because just that was $70 and in this town, there's a lot better restaurants and you can get a lot more for $70. Ordered an amazing appetizer:tasty gulf shrimp lined the goblet with fresh orange slices, lime, cucumber .... and the tastiest cocktail sauce with delicious mix of shrimp, onions, spices.
