    Soy garlic chicken with rice
    Annabelle L.

Small store front with few tables inside. There's two kiosks ordering stations as soon as you enter so go place your order. If paying by cash, go to the cashier. I ordered soy garlic chicken with rice and salad as base and chilli mayo on the side. The order came out quick and food is good but bit pricey for the portion. I will try their sandwiches next time and opt for different protein. The Thai milk tea is good and so addictive! Parking is challenging (literally none) on George Street so be prepared to walk to the store.

I was in the area and wanted to grab a quick lunch. Stopped by in the afternoon and ordered the tofu banh mi. It was really good, very delicious and full of flavors. It's a nice cozy spot, I'd come back when in the area.

This is my favorite restaurant in New Jersey. I only visit NJ for work a few times a year, and if I happen to be staying within a 45 minute drive of New Brunswick, I make sure to stop in. The Lemongrass Steak Rice Box ($14.25) with a side of Cambo Fries ($6.75) are of of this world. The steak is tender and salty/sweet, and is complimented so well with the slaw, rice and lime. The fries are air-fried, but somehow crispy - topped with pickled carrots, cilantro and maybe the best condiment I've ever had - sweet chili mayo. I always make sure to get an extra side of the stuff. I can't wait until my next visit.

This is a great fusion place in downtown New Brunswick. Since its the downtown area, there is no parking. Off street parking only and its located near the state theater. I ordered the Lemon grass chicken box with all the possible toppings that didn't cost extra. My rice box has corn and shallots with some mayo sauce. It was tasty as it was my first time trying this place. You can eat in as they do have about 6-9 tables available for dine in. I would recommend trying their Thai iced tea that comes in a bag. The service was really quick from the time we placed the order. It only took about 5-10 minutes to get our order to the table. Overall, I would come back to try other menu items when I'm in the area.

Pleasantly surprised by the banh mi and rice bowl. Spicy Mayo complements the dishes nicely, Cambo Box is great if you're looking for Asian-fusion food in New Brunswick/Rutgers. Service was fast and straightforward. Would come back with friends to this hole in the wall spot!

So I went back and tried the lemongrass beef sandwich! It was very good but light on the beef and heavy on the carrots lol. My friend has the lemongrass chicken but it was unfortunately dry and she didn't enjoy it.

It was my first time trying out Cambo Box and I love the food!! I got the Rice Box, which comes with rice, corn, and veggies as the base. I added on the Soy-Garlic Chicken, Chili Mayo sauce, and Crispy Shallots. The value of the meal was fantastic and the food was simple yet delicious! All ingredients were healthy and fresh and not too filling. Although there aren't too many options to choose from, the quality of the food was great. I definitely plan on returning to try the Sandwich! There is currently no indoor dining. They are only doing take out orders. Food was ready for pick up in 15-20

Fresh & fast Cambodian food! Of the limited fast food options, the extra protein Coconut Shrimp Rice Box is my favorite. The extra shrimp really helps to round out a meal with rice and corn sides topped with crispy shallots & pickled veggies. The shrimp may medium sized or less but they are crisp with a great coconut dominant seasoning. If you don't like the pickled veggies, you can have them excluded upon request like I did. There is a line wedge included in case you need a sprinkle of acidic flavor on your shrimp. The Lemongrass Chicken in either the hoagie or box is very tender with a slight hint sweetness. The hoagie version is a bit overstuffed with carrots as you can see from one of my pictures. On a subsequent visit, my request to lessen the amount of pickled carrots was honored which made a big difference in my satisfaction. These hoagies can be made hot as well. Parking in the area is generally a pain as sometimes metered parking is hard to find. Driving in the neighborhood during rush hour on a weekday afternoon is tortuous as well. Everything is made to order so there is a wait for your food but it is worth it. If you are in the area, I'd definitely drop for some quick fresh eats.

Their food is so good! So filling, savory and satisfying, you wont go wrong. You can personalize your meal to your liking. Its a small casual place and there is plenty of seating inside. I had the soy garlic chicken with fried rice and vegetables. Service is quick! I would come back here again and try other things on their menu.

This place is located near rutgers. Its combined with another restaurant called poke nagomi. I went with friends and its our first time. They have no parking lot so we parked on the metered street parking. We all got rice box instead of sandwich. I ordered the dragonfruit lemonade, cambo fries, and steak rice box. I got additional protein which was soy garlic chicken and it was additional $3.50 which is a bit pricey for extra protein in my opinion. They forgot to add it to my food when it was ready and the employee didnt make a fuss and ask for any proof on receipt he just added some on my plate. Its small inside. The food presentation was excellent. I got txt notification how long the wait for the food to be ready and when it was ready. It was not packed on a friday night. The food was great!

We were seated pretty quickly around this time and the waiters/waitresses were really kind and happy to give us recommendations. Ambience: inside of the restaurant itself is pretty elegant and is a on the more aesthetically dark side. Otherwise, not a very noisy restaurant at all and great for tableside conversation. Service: Also great as well! Our waitress (I couldn't catch her name) was amazing and knew the menu well to give us recommendations for the night with a good combination of different types of flavors to try out for the dinner. They had a very well staffed waiter-to-table ratio on a Friday evening for dinner. Food: I really liked the food a lot! I say this as someone who grew up in a Vietnamese household, with some Cambodian dishes from my close relatives. Some of the items that we ordered included: - The Green Mango Salad: which I really, really liked more than I was expecting. - The Phenom Penh Roast Duck: which was really soft and tender (probably the softest duck I've ever had) and was not chewy. One of the few places that I think have gotten duck to my preference. - The Baked Amok: which is a national Cambodian dish and is full of seafood. Also recommend ordering this. - Eggplant with Beef: also a great highlight; while the dish name features the eggplant as the main focus, I think the dish ended up more beef focused more than the eggplant. The only other comment that might be worth mentioning is that it might not have some of the authentic notes of Cambodian food (coming from my Cambodian father)--possibly because some of the authenticity factors are a very acquired taste that many American palates may not find favorable. But as it stands, it's a true Cambodian in America experience that captures the soul more than any place I've ever been. Overall, really great place that I'll be recommending some of my other friends to try out.

The vibe is really pleasant, cool-Brooklyn vibe with some of their own takes on it. We hit the happy hour menu hard, getting almost every food item, and also got their Lort Cha (which I remembered liking from 3 years ago). Everything we got was delicious. The Tahini Cabbage Salad was so different than anything we've had! First bite we both kind of looked at each other confused, but by the last bite we were scraping the bottom. Chicken wings (& nuggies) were delicious, as was the Spinach/Artichoke toast. Cocktails (and mocktails) were also very good. Highly recommend! Kicking ourselves for not coming more often the last 3 years. Another note: The Tiger Den (a new Disco Bar they opened?) wasn't open in the back when we were there, but I am curious to check it out.

So you might stumble across info for the best times to secure a walk-up reservation and they'll tell you to arrive at least by 10:30am Thursday through Saturday as Mawn opens at 11am. Mind you, these people have PEOPLEZ as quite a few were holding spots in line for others in their party who could now casually stroll up to the line since their spot was secured by their people. I'm telling you have a game plan! If I knew then what I know now I probably would have got there at least by 9:30, seriously. My party got waitlisted as soon as we were just one person away from entering the restaurant and we had to wait for another 40 minutes. Fortunately it was a nice day so we just walked around the neighborhood and came back and got in. It's a small quaint place that only seats about 28 people. You'll feel like your visiting your favorite relatives home. You'll glance around at the other guest and feel like WOW i'm one of the few who finally made it into one of the most coveted highly acclaimed restaurants in Philly! Now let me see if it lives up to the hype! haha! I started out with the pear melon salad. It was light and refreshing. I thoroughly enjoyed the citrus notes and the pear slices. I would have never thought to add the pear but that really complimented the salad well. I was told that a MUST try is the head on soft shell shrimp. At first I wasn't thrilled about the thought of eating the head but said what the heck, lets go for the full experience! If you love softshell crabs you'll love this! There was nothing off putting about it. It simply taste like delicious premium shrimp in a fish caramel sauce with a hint of thai basil and chili. It was wonderful. I could have gone for a second round but I wanted to try other items. I enjoyed the seafood fried rice..this is similar to the crab fried rice but included uni roe and caviar with saracha on the side so you can regulate your heat level. I'll say this, while I enjoyed the seafood fried rice and the bonus elements of it, I was not a fan of the texture of the rice itself. Perhaps it's just my preference. The rice was light, fluffy and slightly sticky in texture whereas I prefer more of a thai fried rice which is dry, slightly firm and non-clumpy texture. But that's not taking any cool points away from Mawn. It's just my preference that i'm mentioning in case anyone else goes in expecting a different texture. I love the team service aspect at Mawn. Our waiter emphasized that we're not bugging anybody if we need anything we can stop any staff person walking by. I love that. Beef Noodle soup is delicous here. So is the yellow curry noodle soup. The fish is really good here too. I didn't realize I could have requested for it to be deboned (probably because I was talking to much lol) But my waiter was kind enough to come over and help me debone it when they saw I was struggling lol This was the first time I ever had a green thai tea! It was really a treat. Not overly sweet. Nothing but pure deliciousness here! And a super helpful warm friendly staff.

The papaya salad paired well with this, as it was tangy and refreshing, especially on such a hot day. The scallop crudo was a special for the night, but I think they should add this to their permanent menu because it was definitely a standout! The all star fried rice at $54 was also well worth it. I am often disappointed by dishes like these due to the lack of "stuff", but there was crab throughout and a generous portion of roe. I was a little disappointed however that there were only 2 scallops at that price. Overall, each dish had impeccable flavor, great presentation, and a good amount of seafood for the price.

They are a sister restaurant to the even fancier Chinese Tuxedo, with a menu that leans primarily towards ASEAN/Southeast Asian countries. The place was slightly loud and somewhat dim for photos, but thankfully, we were in a separate room, so the noise was muffled. The food was overall pretty good, though I prefer some other spots. This is especially given the price point, but it is nice to have solid representations of food from many different countries. To drink, I remember not being in the mood for a cocktail, so I went for the $14 Fiery Forge with Pathfinder hemp spirit, Lyre's Italian orange, pineapple, five spice, and pomelo soda. It had mild spices and a lot of citrus, and it was decent. The first dish that arrived happened to be the best, the $38 Crispy Lamb Ribs with a Cambodian sweet & sour sauce. The ribs were crispy on the outside while remaining very tender inside, with the fat properly cooked as well. I was also happy that they weren't overly sweet either. This was very tasty and one of our easy favorites. The Roasted Duck Breast for $32 with Chinese celery, Thai basil, dragon eye fruit, and plum dressing was also solid. The duck was cooked nicely, being tender with a mildly fatty texture, and the dressing was thankfully not overly sweet. I do wish there was a bit more dragon eye fruit/longan, but it was solid. Also tasty, but the most expensive, was the 'Crying Tiger' Grilled Sirloin Steak for $46 with aromatic herbs, spicy tamarind dressing, and toasted rice. I have had this dish, also known as Suea rong hai, in many Isan/northeastern Thai spots, and this was solid. The steak was cooked nicely, and the dressing had a mild kick, with some roasted chilis for those who want a bit more heat. My only complaint is that I wish this were also served, as per usual, with sticky rice, as it's already a pricey version of this dish, and even cheaper places serve this traditional accompaniment. The Newton Circus Sambal Stingray, for $28, with roasted skate and sambal belachan, was alright. It was comparable to most Malaysian and Singaporean spots serving this dish, though I preferred a slightly stronger sambal at some spots, and the fish was cooked better at others. The portion size was also daintier, although at least we didn't have to deal with the fish bones. For a better version at a reasonable price, I highly recommend Wok Wok nearby, on Mott Street near Confucius Square. Last and least was the Singaporean Chili Crab Fried Rice for $28 with hand-picked Jonah crab and lobster oil. This is famous here, and I don't really see it. I liked the fried rice's seasoning and crunch. However, the sweet chili sauce overpowered whatever little crab there was. For a similar price, I would recommend the nearby Phoenix Palace, which had more crab flavor and was more balanced. The food overall was good. If this were in another neighborhood, I would probably recommend it more, but there are other spots for ASEAN food that are a bit more reasonably priced and of better quality. It's still good, though, and certainly better than many other Pan-Asian places. This would be another 3.5, but that doesn't exist, so I'll round up.

It is really a very tight and closed community. There's a temple of worship that was built by hand from the monks that reside there as well as the people within the community. Often you find families outside playing in front of there homes or in the park across the street. It's common for the locals to be grilling in front of their house and selling there food for a small profit. You will find the unique scent of whatever is cooking in the air all year round. On the downside it's very dirty. The sidewalks and streets are lined with food scraps and debris. It is not such safe place to travel at night. It is known to have gang activity.

The groceries in this area are cheaper than any place on Washington avenue and just as varied (if not moreso). The real reason to come down here is the street food. Anywhere in this area, but particularly along 7th between Ritner and Snyder, you'll be able to find street hawkers selling freshly open-air grilled beef and chicken at a single dollar per serving (two servings and some sticky rice for $2 for a total of $4 is enough for a meal). The best thing to try to get in this area if you're adventurous is the papaya salad from any of the hawkers (I prefer the fat lady at 7th just south of Winton, around 2130, I guess). In Thai, it's called somtam, but it is of Cambodian origin and called bok l'hong. Its hot, garlicy, salty goodness is fantastic at $5 no matter which hawker makes it for you (and it's prepared fresh to order by all of them, too). It's an enormous amount and really, it's enough for six people as an appetizer salad. Goes great with sticky rice. There're also hawkers along Moyamensing between 8th and 4th and around Mifflin Square at 6th and Ritner (NOT Mifflin, oddly enough) and they all carry the same sort of stuff. If you're worried about the area, there's a hawker on the south side of Jackson St near Mildred between 9th and 8th and that area's a tad less rough. I'd give five stars, but sometimes you'll venture here and find no hawkers. Their availability changes with the weather and on colder or rainy days, you'll find no one.

Since the famous Mawn restaurant was unavailable, we tried a more affordable, local option. Phnom Penh Rice Noodle Soup: At only $10.95, it included minced pork, sliced pork, sliced pork roll, shrimp, and squid, all very fresh - incredibly cheap! The seasoning was light yet umami, with a bright and non-greasy aroma of deep-fried garlic and garlic oil - a highlight. The rice noodles were round and boiled a bit softer than Vietnamese pho. I found it similar to Fuzhou-style Laohua撈化 (rice vermicelli soup), but with more flavor; my friend described it as a "thinner version of Chaoshan-style kueh teow粿條 soup," which is quite apt. Since it was my first time eating Cambodian food, it's hard to say whether it was good or bad, but my Cantonese stomach thoroughly enjoyed it.

The soup was definitely one of my favorites. Loaded with beef and perfect with all the other dishes. The bean salad could have used a bit more of the sauce, but it was still good. I will be back, for sure!

This restaurant is great for date nights, with an elevated interior and an equally elevated food to match. Every single dish my husband and I tried here was superb, from the beef stew to the pad Thai to the crab fried rice. Out of everything, my favorite bites were the latter two. The paid Thai was the perfect blend of sweet and vinegary, the fish sauce coming through strongly for that punch of umami. The noodles also had a good chew. The crab fried rice was spectacular. Wonderful flavors of spicy and garlicky. I enjoyed that dish that most. If you're looking for a nice night out, give Tha Phraya a try.
