We've order several times from Jade's but it's only for takeout. This is the 1st dine in and their service is great. Every table gets their appetizers of fried wonton strips with duck sauce. We love these fried strips. It is crispy and so addictive that you can't have just one. For dinner, we opted for the dinner combo special and and I had the Buddhist delight with white rice and spring roll. Everything is on point. The combo also comes with dessert of ice cream. This is always a hit with the kids. They do take reservations for large party. There are plenty of parking here. We will come back for another dining in experience. read more

I ordered some shrimp fried rice and 2 orders of chicken wings and i have NO IDEA what part of any chicken wings i was given! Total waste of money. Having late lunch here. I ordered chicken with sautéed veggies. Also spring rolls. The sliced chicken meat blended well with sautéed veggies. Taste great, not salty. The spring rolls are fried and crunchy. Not greasy and oily. It's delicious. This establishment has been here for more than a decade. I'm not sure if they're still the original owners. The place is busy with employees having lunch and locals, too. Interior decor is good. The place is clean and well maintained. Serving staff is helpful and courteous. I had a combination platter of sesame chicken and pork fried rice. It came with an egg roll and soup. The Wonton soup was good but a small portion, I am accustomed to 2 wonton noodles, here there was one, no pork and not enough broth to cover the noodle. The egg roll had an unusual spice or vegetable and was unlike any I have had before, not to my liking. The pork fried rice had very little pork and what it did have was pale and tasteless. The sesame chicken had a tasty coating that was not overdone and gloppy, so not bad until I cut a piece. More breading than chicken. At this point I was at 3 stars until I opened the small order of boneless ribs. What I got was a 'pile' of brownish pork in a very watery type sauce. At the bottom was a layer of oil. The pork was tough and they failed to trim it well, there was far room much gristle. The pork was braised rather than grilled. I have never seen boneless ribs prepared this way. Total cost was $30 and I ended up tossing most of the pork and about have the rice and chicken, so for me it was not at all a good value. It may just be a very different style of Chinese American food and if you like it their way, please go. I will not go back. read more

I almost forgot what east coast Chinese food was like. Not to say that Chinese food on the west coast is bad, but it's different and not what I was accustomed to growing up. Thankfully, on my short trip to the east, I'm getting an opportunity to have some decent food like I used to eat when I was here (and actually stopped eating for a long time, different story for another time). It's the day before I head back and since being in the NY/NJ area, I've gotten my bagel, bialy and somewhat of a pizza fix, but not Chinese food. One needs egg drop soup every so often and so off to lunch we went. Jade Dynasty is one of a few places my father frequents around where he lives but he usually visits on a random Sunday, not during the week, so even he didn't know what to expect. He knows the food is decent. They have a special lunch menu, smaller menu but you get soup and rice included. One of the things I miss is the crispy large noodle that you dip in duck sauce. The other thing that I remembered from Chinese restaurants are the waiters in tuxedo shirts with bow ties and vests. Both were here. As for the food? I went with a standard, beef with scallions. On the west coast, the version is Mongolian beef. This one was quite simply, large slices of beef, brown sauce and scallions. That's it. Along with a large side of white rice, one didn't need any more. It was pretty darn good. Lots of flavor. My brother enjoyed his shrimp dish, my father had beef lo mein. My brother's girlfriend wasn't as happy with her chicken dish. The sauce was a little flat. Overall, a good experience and for those of you who live in the area, I'm sure you already know about Jade Dynasty. Never ordering from here again. The lady on the phone is extremely inconsiderate and rude. I ordered a large Chicken and Brocoli from here with a large beef fried rice which normally at most places would be more like $20 but here it came out to practically $30. Cool... I was hungry so went through with the order. I've ordered from countless Chinese food restaurants in my lifetime and when the food got here, the "large" ends up being a small. Being this is one of my favorite things to order, I know how other Chinese food places ration their food. So to charge $14 for a "large" and give a small portion is absolutely ridiculous. Not only that, I specifically said I wanted it made with garlic sauce and that wasn't done. The fried rice has a fishy smell to it, like they're cooking it without washing the wok/pot they just cooked seafood on. After reaching out to see if a mistake was made, the lady was extremely arrogant saying how long she's been in business for and that I'd have to deal with it because other customers do. No lady --- I don't. She eventually hung up on me. To anyone who left a review here saying their prices are fair ---- they charge $5 for a 2 liter of soda/drink. We have been coming here for years and this last time was disappointing. Back in May we ordered one of our favorite dishes, Noodles with Szechuan Sauce. It is usually a medium sized rice noodle. That time we got spaghetti. I chalked it up to being in the middle of the pandemic and that there might be issues getting certain ingredients. Friday night we ordered from them again. My wife ordered crab Rangoon which barely had any filling, fine pandemic, but then don't offer the item. She also ordered Chicken and Broccoli and was not given white rice on the side, again pandemic, but then mention you are not currently offering rice. My friend ordered cold sesame noodles, and I ordered chicken lo mein, both were spaghetti again, again pandemic, but communicate that you don't have the regular noodles and I would have ordered something else. What if someone has a gluten allergy and was expecting rice noodles? So disappointed not necessarily in the lack of items, because pandemic, but the lack of communication. read more

Very disappointing. We just moved to Metuchen and are trying to find our "go to" restaurants. The combination platters were expensive and the food quality was poor. The meat was greasy and the fried rice had no veggies. We also didn't receive the soups that were part of our order. It's a good day or a bad day here. Mostly good. But I ordered the Double Happiness and it was not happy. This was in a "Special" section where things are pricier. But it was not fresh tasting and the scallops were missing. I think they actually took 1 scallop and sliced it onto pieces. There were a lot of water chestnuts. Good Chinese spot to eat in. Went here one night with my girl and we had a good time. My girl had a chicken vegetable dish which she enjoyed especially since the white meat was just right, perfectly cooked and thinly sliced the way she likes it. I tried the scallion pancakes since alot of people was raving about it. Lets keep raving coz it was delicious! This is actually a really good place to get cheap chinese takeout food. The food is much better than any other american-chinese place in the area. They also have the best hot&sour soup. It has the tofu and black fungus in it. It is also actually spicy compared to other places. You can't beat the lunch specials for $7-10 which include soup (or spring roll which was delicious) and rice. Now this is not Asian Asian food, however, I must say, they make EXCELLENT American Asian food. The food is not too sweet or salty which is the downfall for most American Asian foods. The price is somewhat reasonable, going for less than $10 per meal. I've only been for lunch, so I can say in addition to your main course, you get a soup, highly recommend Hot and Sour, though it can be a little on the spicy side. Umm... This isn't really authentic Asian food. I might be from Northern Jersey and spoiled a bit but really? It's hardly what I was expecting for a Chinese place in general. The staff was friendly, I'll give them that. Oh, and the fried crispy things they give you on arrival were good too. (Forgive me, I'm not really sure what they're called. Crispy noodles?) We ordered the deluxe bird's nest and just scallion pancakes. Scallion pancakes were OK. The sauce was right. The bird's nest included beef, shrimp, chicken, snowpeas, broccoli, and water chestnuts...and was pretty much a takeout dish served in a "nest" of noodles and placed on an elevated platform. Not at all amazing. As for the decor, it seemed like I was at a small diner. Blegh. Not the worst Chinese food I've ever had, I guess.... but this is Edison. I'll start with the positives: This place has a very welcoming old-school Chinese restaurant vibe. The staff is kind and the owner is very sweet. They offer $10 lunch specials, which is a very good value. There are 30 something options to choose from, and each meal comes with rice and a soup of your choice (and hot tea!) However, when it comes to the actual food, Jade Dynasty is just a bit lacking. First, instead of bringing baskets of fried wonton strips and duck sauce out to the table when you get there, they just leave them sitting on the tables at all times, so that they're already there when you arrive. This might sound convenient, but it makes for very stale wonton strips. I ordered the spare ribs with vegetable fried rice. The sauce on the ribs was pretty good, but the meat itself was quite bland and a bit tough. They were definitely edible, but nothing to write home about. I wouldn't order them again. I asked the waiter for a spicy sauce he would recommend. He smiled and brought out a dish of what looked like some kind of chili oil (pepper flakes, seeds, etc.). I was excited. However, to my surprise, this sauce had -- and let me be clear, this is by no means an exaggeration -- no flavor whatsoever, let alone any heat. It literally just tasted like oil, and I'm not sure how this is possible given the fact that there were mounds of crushed pepper in it. And let me repeat this for emphasis: I'm not saying that the pepper oil was too mild for my own personal tastes, or that I wasn't a fan of the flavor profile. I'm saying that there wasn't even a flavor to judge. The rice had a very burnt flavor, which was unfortunate. The hot and sour soup was decent. It definitely had a sour element and a mild kick. There was pork in it. However, at times I couldn't help but think that it tasted like those bottles of lemon-pepper dressing. I've been here a few times now over the years. Would I go back? Sure. But I'll go back because of the communal atmosphere and local charm, not because of the food. read more

When I was in Edison NJ for business I knew nothing about the area. I was looking for a good Asian place so I logged into Yelp and found this place. The reviews sounded good so I put the address in my GPS and drove over. I was thrilled to find the veggie steamed dumplings and managed to eat all 8 by myself. Vegetarian selections were plentiful and very good. I went back a second time during my 5 days in town because the food was so good. Also, the owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. There is no alcohol served, but they pointed me to the store across the street. Highly recommended. read more
