We recently made the switch to this 100% local company from another well known company due to their progressively slipping service and couldn't be happier. The process and transition was so easy. Their representative Adam and a tech first came out to do an evaluation and then followed up with the actual appointment for the installation after the other account was canceled. Adam and his tech were super personable and friendly while telling us about their services and the process. Thanks to technician Melvin, and communications with Kingston, Mgr. & Christian, Tech Support. CAM Security resolved my problem with my video cameras cutting out. Turns out I needed a new Power Distribution Panel which as mine was very old. Melvin diagnosed the problem had a new PDP in his truck, installed it, and fixed the problem very expediently.  The new pictures are more clear, crisp and the colors more vibrant.  CAM Security has come through again, was very responsive; and their followup tech support is one of the biggest benefits of using CAM Security. read more

I was really disappointed to hear that our scheduler Erika was let go. She was always great at communicating with all of our locations on four islands. Business is about relationships, and I'm sad we won't be in touch with her anymore. There seems to be a lot of turnover at Cam, and it's kind of a pain starting over with a new person. Seems to be hit or miss in using them, decided to give them a chance. Big mistake. Rude, unprofessional, incompetent service, from installation to billing. This is one company that is not on my list of recommendations. If you have to deal with them, I recommend not being the only one in on the conversation so that you have proof when making a complaint to the state regulators. If I wanted to be ignored, I'd would buy a cat (sorry cat owners) A call back can be excused, but to be ignored is rude and in my profession this is unacceptable. One star is being generous, there technician installed and upgrade to accommodate a 4G broadband. It would have worked if it was programed correctly. While trying to leave the house, I press code then away. I open the door to exit and a fire alarm is sent to dispatch, which requires no password. That's alarming to me. A request for a technician went like this. -A technician will get to you in 15 min. -20 min, one ring and drop call. -20 min, while trying to trouble shoot. Drop call -13 hours looking for a competitor. read more

I went to Hawaii to visit my girlfriend and she has Cam Security set up in her house. Honestly...their system prevented her from getting robbed. It went almost as smooth as it does in the movies!!! We are extremely grateful - none of her stuff was stolen, we are safe and the guy that broke into her place is in jail. This company really came through for us and they are all super nice and supportive. I feel like they really cared about our safety which is why I felt the nudge to write a review for them. My girl had found out that crime and robberies were at a all time high in her neighborhood (Manoa Area) and was persuaded to get a security system from her parents not really thinking anything of it. If I could give negative stars I would. These guys said they would run our wires for free if we went with them for our cameras when we were building our new house. They ran the wires and when the house was done we asked how much the camera system would be and they quoted us 5K. We simply did not have the money to do it and we told them we would not be doing it. Since they ran the wires for us I had thought they would have labeled the wires in an orderly fashion. What I found was they hid the feeds for the drops. I later punched a bigger hole and found out what they had done. They basically tried to hold us to only them since they ran the wires. Not thinking that an owner would have the common sense to tone out lines and find the shady work they did. If I were hired to do work at someone's house I would be forth coming with what I did and not hide things in the hopes of being rehired. Customer Service: earns all the stars !!! Best customer service I have seen (my opinion only). The office team was exceptional in assisting me with my issue. Over the course of 1 month we had several issues at my condo. The team at cam security (Merissa & others) helped out so much. They assisted in viewing hours upon hours of video footage. We have an old system (so no inferred, no HD, etc.) so you can imagine the challenge to pull through footage to find an incident that took 10 seconds. The team at Cam security sent out an agent took a look at our system, fixed the issues, recommended an upgrade, and helped us pull the footage. Long story short, we got what we needed, thanks to the patience, professionalism, and awesome customer service. Whenever we have issues that need correcting due to normal wear and tear, or questions to be answered, the office staff are quick to assist us in resolving any issues. Our experience as prospective customers: They were difficult to schedule an appointment with, pulled a no-show, and were rude to boot. They didn't show up for their 9 am appointment with us. We waited for a half-hour, and then called the office to find out what was going on. The scheduler said she was "just about" to let us know that their crew was busy on another job, and we'd have to reschedule for another day. She sounded irritated that we called. No apologies for their crew being too busy to keep a scheduled appointment, no apologies for her being "too busy" to call us promptly to let us know. No apologies for making us both miss several hours of work for no reason, apparently no sense that a customer's time had any value whatsoever. When we said that it would have been helpful to know about the cancellation earlier, she switched from dismissive to downright rude. (Apparently, expecting them to show up for an appointment, or to let you know in a timely manner if they can't, is unreasonable.) If this is how they behave with a *prospective* customer, I can't imagine how they are if they've actually got your money and you're trying to get help for equipment failures or billing problems. The reviews I see here from other YELPers complaining about rudeness and poor customer service appear to be right on target. (Ah well, at least they made the screening easy. Ike and Adam came by and was very friendly and was patient with me through my thousands of questions. We moved into a house that already had a Cam Security system, so I can't comment on the installation however, the service since the transfer has been awesome. Since my mom really didn't know how to use my alarm system, she kept setting it off at night and needed help. We called the Cam Security office and an on-call tech was dispatched. He stayed on the phone with me while I reset the system and then he walked me through bypassing the downstairs motion so mom wouldn't set it off again. He even sent me a follow up email the next day with reminder instructions! Great team they have and I love the system now that I learned how to use it! Keep up the good work. read more

Poor Customer Service Reps (the only reason for 2 stars is Office manager John helped quickly to resolve our remote alarm issue). Otherwise, If you want to be ignored, call this place. Our story: We currently have a Cam Security Alarm for my mother's business that she inherited from the previous owner. We needed to upgrade our camera surveillance system with digital cameras. We called cam security and they sent us Adam Ikeda. Adam Ikeda came in and 10 minutes later he was gone, before he left I asked if he was sure he got the camera angles, he said ya. I got the quote back a few days later, and 1) two of the cameras were in the wrong place; 2) the price ($5460 for an 8 camera system to buy); 3) inconsistency of prices in the quote (which I had to email several times to have him explain and it still wasn't right). 4) we also asked him at the time and over the phone on another occasion to upgrade a panic alarm for the existing system (he never got back to us, and cam security has no note of it). He even gave me the email to cancel our current alarm system. Wow. After calling around Honolulu and researching products online, I found a security alarm shop (*wink*) and camera place that had better camera's than Cam Security had quoted and twice the storage for $2600 installed. I purchased a camera system about 6 months back because I had recent vandalisms around my house. At first, I was skeptical about getting the system but I really needed it. The staff and technicians were easy to talk with and they set up my camera system with a breeze. The only problem I had was getting used to logging online to view my cameras but with help from the office staff I am able to work it easily now. At my property, I would get people dumping items, graffiti on my walls, people loitering etc. After my install and all of the signage around my property I am happy to say that this has stopped. I sit on a board of a condo association and we were seeking estimates to replace our aging door and elevator access systems from a mechanical system to an electronic system with swipe key fobs. What surprised me was that they did not try to sell us the system right then and there. They recommended we wait on installing the new access system until the building did major elevator renovations to save on installation costs. Great experience with Cam. Estimator Adam came over quickly, had great suggestions, professional, and didn't try to sell me stuff I didn't need. Scheduling was quick, staff and installers were very helpful, great communication, and pleasure working with. Their touch screen keypad is my favorite piece, also like how all sensors are wireless.
