Not to take away from the hard-working employees at Aloha Alarm, but the account manager "C" really sucks!!...I've been trying to stop my alarm service since December, since we're moving. No response, left multiple messages with customer service, spoke to a rep 2 days ago in the service dept, always the same answer, "C" is not in today, but when she comes in she'll call you back, and we'll also let another manager "J" know as well. Meaningless dribble...no calls after leaving multiple messages from anyone. Something tells me something is "going on" (management issues, financial issues, etc.) at that company, and not in a good way. When they don't respond to customers and in effect leave decision making to one person, who chooses to either not show up to work or is too "busy" to even return calls to customers, something is definitely wrong. Maybe they need to replace her or the entire management. Customers are not being serviced properly. Next step for me is to reach out to the State DCCA to file a complaint. If you feel you're not being treated fairly I suggest you do the same. Some action has to be taken to wake these people up or else it will remain the same. Me, I'm outta here with these guys, we had service for years but seems current management is sub-par and not taking care of customers. Great alarm company we've been customers for over 5 years no complaints great customer service.

We've had Aloha Alarm for almost 5 years. Originally, I gave them five stars because the sales person had great customer service skills and knowledge. That is where anything good ends with this company. Over the last 5 years, heaven forbid you have equipment malfunctions either on a weekend or holiday, there is no one to be found for support or help. I've called the after hours dispatch and then been transferred to the 24 hour tech phone number multiple times and there's been no one to assist me (even after leaving a message). This is not the first time this has happened. Due to poor quality equipment I've had two deadbolts, an alarm panel, two smoke detectors replaced in the last five years. That is practically a brand new system considering the size of my place and the equipment I have. I cannot stress how disappointed I have been with this company over the past 5 years. You pay monthly for services/support however, when you need to render said services/support there's no one to be found. It makes me question the support you would receive if it were a true emergency. read more

Do not trust this company!! Their actions are flatout predatory. After 13 months with them we decided to sell our home, and so called to let them know we were canceling service. It took 3 weeks and 3 calls before we got a response from them, and then they tried to rip us off. They said we had signed a 5 year contract, which is true. But then they said to cancel we had to pay for every single month remaining on the contract, over $4,300! Here's what they wrote: "I am showing that you signed your current agreement in December 2023 for 5 years (60 months). You have completed 13 of 60 months, with 47 months remaining. The contract buyout is calculated by multiplying the number of months remaining in your agreement by your monthly payments (47 months x $91.99 + tax = $4323.53 + tax)." So, several points. First, the contract also clearly says we cancel with 30 days written notice sent by certified mail. So, no, we do not owe money for the next 3 years and 11 months. Second, accelerated penalties where you have to pay everything for the life of a contract you canceled is AGAINST THE LAW. It violates contract law and consumer protection law. And I'm guessing Aloha Alarm knows this. Third, here's the predatory part. I'm guessing they are hoping their customers who try to cancel fall for this outrageous demand and just pay them, or switch the service to their next place. This is what I mean by predatory--they are trying to take advantage of people who might not know they are protected from this by law. And, wait, this is not just happening to me. I just noticed that Shari S. wrote a review complaining about the same predatory tactics on 9/16/24. worst alarm company ever. I don't usually write yelp reviews. I am very disappointed. our store got broken into very badly 4 years ago. a huge reason the robbers got away with everything was because our alarm did not go off or even contact the police.. we didn't want to renew with them after that experience but was stuck in a 5 year contract. then we try to cancel closer to five years later. We asked via phone many of times to cancel. Since the paper wasn't filed out "in time" they are still having to charge us for another month. the alarm/company sucks! they don't even do check ins to make sure everything is working... off the top of my head ever in the 5 years lol. wouldn't want someone else's windows and store to experience what we did. read more

First off, I apologize for this very lengthy review, but I think that any prospective customer should be aware of this aspect of this business... We were customers of Aloha Alarm since 2016 & until a few years ago we were very satisfied with the business & equipment (control panel, motion sensors & door sensors). We chose AA because of a family referral & also because it was a locally owned business. Back then, we were really impressed by their salesman, technicians & service. Several years ago, the owner passed away & a mainland company became the new owners. The local office was still maintained, but their billing & accounting system became very unorganized & confusing. Now, I should mention that we are an elderly 'old school' couple & prefer to pay our bills with check rather then 'auto-pay.' We have done this from the beginning of our contract - no problems until early 2023. So, If you're planning on paying with 'auto-pay', my review may not be applicable to you. Since last year, we began to receive multiple emails (from their mainland office) that our payments were 'past due', although we always pay our bills promptly after receiving them. We received the billing invoices through USPS mail. Again, we pay by check mailed to the local AA office because that is the address shown on our billing invoices. These 'past-due' notices come by email & this became more frequent (nearly every billing cycle). Finally this past February, we began to get concerned that this may affect our credit status. So I called the local AA office & spoke to Krystal. She told me that all payment checks received locally are placed into another envelope & forwarded to the mainland office. I asked her if our payment was recorded by her or someone in the local office & she replied "No. All billing & accounting is done by the mainland office." ???? Now, this system of accounting raises a lot of questions.... Then why isn't the mainland office address written on the billing invoices for our payment to be sent directly to them? Or, why isn't the local office at least recording who & when they are receiving payment checks from before forwarding the checks to the mainland office? I realize that USPS delivery is sometimes slow, but there must be other factors (like maybe our check is just sitting in the local office, causing our payment to reach the mainland office late?) resulting in us receiving all those frequent 'past due' notices by email. This very poor business billing/accounting practice & extremely insensitive treatment of this loyal customer, resulted in us looking elsewhere for our alarm monitoring services to avoid this unnecessary stress & risk to our credit rating. After doing some Yelp research, we found another locally-owned home alarm monitoring service & began new service with them. So on March 20th, we sent the required 30 days written notice of termination of service effective April 30, 2024 in a letter to AA by USPS Certified mail & received the signed received (by AA) copy dated March 21, 2024. We actually gave them 40 days advance notice. I've been holding back from submitting this negative review because I don't like doing this, but in June 2024 we received an email from AA that we are past due for our June, July & August payment. ????? Two months after we had already terminated service with them! I called the local office & was told that they will clear this matter - no apology given! read more

I called today and asked about canceling my alarm. The girl said if I cancel I still have to pay 5 years of service?! She said we have a 5 year contract, but when we started service in 2017 Isaac Lima signed us up. We did not agree to a 5 year contract nor did we sign anything that stated this, so this is a total scam! Stay away because they will rip you off! We didn't even get a copy of the contract?! Crime in my area is on the rise, so my family and I finally decided to invest in an alarm system. Searched around, and Aloha Alarm had some of the best reviews, some of my neighbors use them too, so I decided to try them out. I'm very happy we did! Titus and his technicians were all very well mannered and professional. Titus came over to my home to do a walk around of the property and give me a quote on an alarm system, we arranged to meet up again shortly after to do the necessary paperwork. Once the paper work was out of the way, we scheduled a date for the technicians to come out and do the install. We decided on alarms on all the windows and doors. My house has A LOT of jalousie windows, so it was a big job for them. Took three techs a day and half to get it all finished. They were very meticulous about their work, they wanted it to be as nice possible, which I really appreciated. They did a fantastic job! Shout out to Isaiah: really cool guy, great worker! Crystal answered the phone and immediately scheduled for a technician to come out and repair our system. Tyler a technician with Aloha Alarm arrived, very professional and knowledgeable. Tyler diagnosed the problem and identified that the switch in our sensor failed. He went to his van and within minutes had the old switch removed and a new one programmed and in its place. The previous guy told my mom that she was setting it incorrectly, showed her the new way, then left. So Mom had to call the company again to come up. I was a loyal customer for 12 years plus. After having great difficulty reaching anyone in the company and technical issues with my system, I decided to switch to another provider. I told Aloha via text and email to not bill me from this point on as I was going with another provider. Today, a charge for July showed up. I called to ask them to take it off. I waited on the phone the 20 minutes and spoke with someone who took my information and asked me to hold. She came back a time or two and asked me to continue to hold. Then, the system disconnected me. Frustration abounds - companies try to save money but lower their service quality to a point that completely turns off loyal customers. Mr. Titus signed us 3 1/2 years ago and was nice. Starting last December, the customer service has gone down the drain, scamming loyal customers out of their money. They keep charging me monthly for over 6 months while there is no active monitoring because of a connection issue with the equipment. I have been emailing, texting, and calling multiple times, and they never resolve the issue. The two ladies I spoke to Krystal and Christine say they'll get back to you but instead just leave you hanging for months. Once they sell you the system, you are virtually on your own. Used them twice (because under contract) to install, re install, upgrade... I have tried numerous times to change the call back numbers to no avail. Have had my TC app not work numerous times which is my current situation. Have left numerous e mails and text messages to Mark (Unless he is no longer with company or his number has had has changed) no response. I have already called the office and spoke to a nicce lady who could not fix my issue. I would think a courtesy call back of some kind would be in order. I guess business is so good thaloyal past current customers are a forgotten thing Follow up: Titus and his team fixed the issues I was experiencing. Evidently there is new management and many miscommunication issues were due to prior management. I want to start by saying I did business with these guys about 6 years ago, and used to think they were one of the best out there, and that I had actually recommended them to a few of my friends who did end up purchasing from them. That being said, however, they have really declined over the years. When we had our first experience with them, everything went exceptionally great. They were easy to reach, scheduling a in-home consultation and quote was easy and on time. Pricing was reasonable. We were very happy for the time being. Fast forward over the years. We have come to realize that EVERYTHING that happens requires a technician to come to your house, which regardless of your fault or theirs, is a charge. The sensors we had "installed" are held by nothing more than tape. Of course you can imagine being at work and your alarm is triggered, but really this is because the sensor fell off. Now imagine all the sensors in your house, one by one. Not only does this involve the tech to come every time one falls, but you also get another $100 fee charged from HPD. They also do not even care to check up on you, to maybe update you with the latest products, etc. I recently went on their website and saw many new innovations that I am very interested in and had no idea was even being offered through them. I also have had about 3 issues over the past year or so, where I called assuming I could be helped over the phone. I should've known better, because of course, they want to send the tech down so they cam charge you. Well that doesnt even happen because the people taking the call say they will have a technician call you back, and they never do! This results in multiple attempts to reach them, which is highly unnecessary on top of everything else. I have been thinking about switching for the past year, and I finally think I will make the jump. It's too bad though, they were really doing great in my eyes. read more

Isaac was courteous, patient and accommodating, and the pricing of the quote was on point (actually a little cheaper) with my own estimate and budget. I did some research on the equipment and requirements and it looked like a good fit for what I needed. Dave and Isaiah came and did a fantastic job on the install, and I couldn't be happier with the results, and Julie came through with the details on my inquiry for the extended warranty for my purchase the next day. The follow-up from Isaac this afternoon to see if everything went well was unexpected and appreciated. I normally don't post reviews but I felt like everyone needed to know. I've been with this company for several years, I called them almost three weeks ago to let them know they debited my account three times in February and three times in April. I was told to email my bank statement and they will correct it. Ask how long is it going to take? I was told 2 days because the same person who answer the phone she said she get's all the email. A week goes by the same person answered the phone and I ask her for a status she place me on hold comes back said she got the email and would pass it on to accounting to take care of it. Take note this is the same person who said two days and all emails goes to her, had I not called a week after she would not have pass the information on to the accounting person. (Absolutely poor customer service) Another week goes by, I speak with someone else and now I ask to speak with the manager left a message to have her call me back. Two days go by, I call again and reach the same person from the initial call to this company. I gave her my name in the event she didn't remember me and still nothing about my refund. The manager hasn't bother to call me back even after numerous request. Stay away from this company, I have records and documentation to verify all of this. read more

Now they have been bought out and when you call with any equipment problems, you get directed to customer service on the mainland somewhere. They wont let you talk to anyone here locally. All they will do is schedule a tech to come out, starting at 175$ minimum. Guy came out to my store for 5 minutes and it was almost 200$ with the tax! Let me warn you. I am never one to leave reviews. But, I felt like I had to share my honest and awful overall experience with Aloha Alarm. We have been with Aloha Alarm since 2013. We were young homeowners and was proactive to purchase an alarm system before an incident occurred. We did our research and had multiple bids. We went with Aloha Alarm only because the sales representative was very knowledgeable and experienced. (Note: the sales representative is no longer an employee. He started his own company.) My first bad experience was with customer service/billing. 3 years with Aloha Alarm the batteries in one of the sensors became low. I called to have a technician to change the batteries ONLY because it was in our contract. Batteries were changed and the bill came. I was charged $50 for batteries!!! I was livid. I spoke with Mark Plischke and instructed him to review my contract because it was included. He checked and it was!!! He apologized and would credit the account. The next billing cycle came and no credit was issued. I was livid AGAIN and spoke with customer service. It took awhile to resolve because of the miscommunication and people who don't read contracts before sending out the invoices. Lesson learned: Go to Wal-Mart, buy the batteries and change them yourself. That is what we've been doing since then. July 2016: I received an email from Mark Plischke citing an outstanding bill. I respond and informed him that the bill has been paid prior to the suspense date. Mark, then verifies the account and apologies for the error AGAIN. Feb 2020: This time I get an email from Michael Kelley saying that my account was delinquent AGAIN. I called Aloha Alarm well before close of business with no answer. Thank goodness for the redial because that's what I did for the next 6 minutes. At the same time, I respond to the email and send a screenshot of my online payment confirmation from my banking institution. Then, someone finally answers the phone and I informed them of my action and all I got was a generic apology. I had to remind them to verify all information before sending irrelevant correspondence. By coincidence I get a email response from Michael Kelley- "Thanks for your email. Your account is now current." Apr 2020: I get a call, the caller ID reads Aloha Alarm and the caller hangs up. I immediately return the call to see what the issue was and Julie begins with they received a weird fax. She goes on to say that we were reviewing your contract are phasing out the monitor that was no longer compatible due to an upgrade to 3G for one ninety nine. Initially, I was all for it, asked for clarification if it was $199 or $1.99. Julie says $199. The upgrade was not part of the contract. I had to remind her of our loyalty since 2013 with Alarm Alarm and it fell on deaf ears. She also went on to mention that system upgrades are out of their control and unpredictable. Bottom line: I DO NOT RECOMMEND ALOHA ALARM. You will have numerous billing and experience generic customer service. Complete your contract and find another company. read more

Aloha Alarm might be a good company on Oahu, but it certainly isn't on Kauai! On May 11th our smoke detector malfunctioned and after a week of having to dis-arm and explain to the call back company that NO the house wasn't on fire. This would happen randomly day and night requiring getting up or having to have someone home 24/7! After a week of this "someone" instructed me to remove the alarm and batteries myself. I explained to her that I'm elderly and not able to climb a ladder. I then had to hire someone to remove the smoke detector to eliminate having to dis-arm it each time. The result is that we no longer have a working system, and have no idea when or even IF it will ever be corrected! But, the monthly billing has gone to our landlord and I was told the cost of the new smoke detector $155 and service call $175 need immediate payment! I found the exact same smoke detector on eBay for $50. If Aloha Alarm cannot service the outer islands then they need to sell this portion of their business. read more

I was a loyal customer for 6 years. Recently we renovated our house, I called the customer service to schedule a service call and Wass notified that the cost to reconnect my system was $175.00/hour min plus $175.00/hour or fraction of any additional hours needed. The service person came over and stayed for 2 hours and couldn't figure the alarm out. At that rate if he took 8 hours to fix the alarms I would have to pay $1,400.00 + tax. Thats ridiculous! I called back and was put on hold for 1/2 hour to find out if there was a grace period to stop my monitoring and was told that a manager would call me back. The Manager never did! I called again and after being put on hold for 20min, asked to speak to a manager and again to again be put on hold for another 20mins until a recording came on. I decided to email a notice of cancelation and put a stop to the auto payment. On prime day I purchased a 14 piece Ring Home Security with some additional accessaries. $10/month instead of $52.00/month is worth taking a chance! read more

UPDATE: On November 13, 2017, our alarm installation was done by Lance Eala. He was on time (he called me from outside my house 10 minutes before his scheduled 8am appointment) and he was very friendly, neat, organized, and knowledgeable about the installation. Lance was very professional! Later, I discovered that he is from the friendly isle of Molokai, and we knew many of the same people from that island where my grandparents are from. Overall, Aloha Alarm exceeded my expectations from the sales presentation (see below) to the installation. I would definitely recommend Aloha Alarm to anyone looking to install security at home or work! Nothing beats working with a local company! Mike Kelley was the Security Consultant that visited my home to give my family a presentation on what the company was about and the services and products they provided. He was very professional, and demonstrated much knowledge and experience in his field of work. He answered every question we had to our satisfaction and was very down-to-earth and honest. Best of all, he was not pushy and did not pressure us to buy. We gladly bought a security package from him and look forward to the services they will providing us in the future. I will definitely recommend this company to anyone looking for professional and affordable security that will bring you peace of mind! I used Aloha Alarm back in 2014 to have a security system installed. I was very satisfied with the sales and service. This month I hired Aloha Alarm again to install my security cameras. I was very impressed with the installers. They were very polite and professional! They did a great job with the installation crawling in my hot attic and still stayed polite despite being drenched with sweat. They even helped with the start up process and cleaned up after the installation. Great job Titus on leading a great team! I would refer this Company to anyone! read more
