I really love the low maintenance and reliability of a hard wired system. Several years ago I decided to switch companies to someone who could offer more interfaces with my cel phone. I selected Aloha Alarm because of all the great reviews on Yelp. They were great at first and reasonably priced. I like the Alarm.Com interface and was happy. Then the panel started saying that the cel phone interface would need to be upgraded. They said my panel would need to be replaced and quoted me over $2200 for the installation? Seriously we were customers for about 4 years and the new panel was about $400 on Amazon. Plus they wanted another 4 year contract. I then learned that the company was sold and the new mainland based company did not have as much Aloha. I was out of contract so I searched for an alarm company. To my surprise Security Alarm Shop had great reviews. We had used them for years for our pagers. (Yes I know it's old but still loved that thing). Anyway Jim gave me a great deal on the panel (I think it was free, but I can't remember). This was over a year ago and they have been great. They changed the panel and keypads. I had to change to the Honeywell Total Control app which I don't like as much as the Alarm.Com but that was because I wanted a Honeywell panel. I requested service to replace a couple of old glass break and motion sensors which were 20 years old. They charged me just the cost of the equipment and did the service for free. Plus my monthly service rate is really affordable. I really like these guys. I was contemplating using ring security and doing the install and monitoring myself but as this is a business I wanted more of an expert to service and maintain the system. I couldn't be happier. I plan to install ring camera ms to supplement but I know the base system is solid.

While I found it odd, he initially explained he was in the neighborhood for another client and it didn't workout, the conversation was okay but then Russ was speaking very fast and for many reasons that evening I felt slightly pushed. I think I just started being nervous of being alone and slightly sketched out as I began thinking like who does business door to door that late? So I signed a contract to get the conversation over with. Fast forward 24 hours later I couldn't stop thinking of the interaction and regretted not having done my research and feeling more like it was our choice. Thus, I texted Russ and explained my feelings. What a relief and honestly amazing experience to have a businessman so kindly respond understanding completely and apologizing. I sincerely respect that level of professionalism and tact more than anything. He cancelled the contract without penalty and understood where I was coming from. Calls often take weeks to be returned, and repairs frequently take even longer to be completed. Over the years, the cost of service has steadily increased to the point where it no longer makes financial sense for us to continue with the company. When I decided to inquire about my options, I sent two emails over a two-week period before finally receiving a response. I was offered a reduced rate for 12 months, but only if I agreed to sign a new 36-month contract. This arrangement did not seem reasonable, as the rate could potentially increase again after the first year, leaving me locked into the agreement for an additional 24 months. Keep in mind that they were willing to bring it down $15 a month. As a result, I requested that my account be canceled. I was then informed that I would still be charged for August and that my service would remain active until the end of August, despite making my cancellation request in the beginning of July. *After review was posted, I got an email that confirmed my account would be cancelled at the end of July and I will not be charged for August (we shall see how that goes). Additionally, I was told that Alert Alarm does not remove its equipment upon cancellation. If I wanted a technician to remove the equipment, I would be charged $150 per hour. After this experience, I will not do business with Alert Alarm again. I strongly encourage anyone considering this company to do thorough research and carefully review the terms of service before making a decision.
