Honest. Quick and efficient. Best price at time of contact. I did try to contact other locksmiths in my area- one called blessed got in contact with me but was on and off and finally flaked. I needed to reprogram my new dealer remote and cut extra keys from the dealer. They gave me good advice to buy the replacement remote from the aftermarket websites instead of the dealership for way cheaper. Then bring it to locksmith for reprogramming. Bill was the best price and he answered my msg on yelp within a timely manner. He was able to come out to meet us while we were at Ala moana Beach same day and had it done in less than 30 mins. Fast forward to this year. Our other car had a aftermarket alarm issue that made us look for alarm shops to repair it. We were told that we needed new remotes that would cost $300+. So I messaged Bill to see if he could program clifford/viper remotes (I would've bought it online myself for cheaper and bring it to him). He said he didn't do those but he was kind enough to send me instructions on how to reprogram it ourselves. We were able to save money by reprogramming our old remotes with the instructions! Very quick at responding and accommodating of my request for time changes. They were there 10 minutes early! What's perhaps most miraculous was that in about half an hour, they were able to unlock and create two working keys (the second for free!). Locksmith sounds kind of like a blacksmith or cobbler, i.e. something I'd expect at a medieval fair that's since been replaced by a factory in the developing world, but after needed an emergency key, apparently skilled trades people who are able to create locks and keys from crude metal still exist--and in my community too. I know as much about keys as I do iPhones. I feel like I just watched someone make an iPhone in their trunk in half an hour. This is truly a divine or occult gem. So thankful for such great service. I had a little trip up finding him at first, as my Google maps sent me a block down the street, but we eventually got it together. He met me on Kona Street (on the Ala Moana mall property), in between Atkinson and Mahukona, on the mauka side street of the Ala Moana Hotel. "Thanks" to the "knowledge and integrity" of Bill, the owner, I didn't hire Gem Key & Locksmith Service (GKLS). However, if the need arises, I will definitely use the services of Gem Key & Locksmith. Just before Christmas, my house door lock appeared to freeze - couldn't get in nor out. I called upon the services of a company - who shall remain nameless - that I've used over 25+ years. Cost me over $160+ for this house call and I was told I had to change my entire lock system. (I'm not disputing the charge but if the technician was a bit more knowledgeable, it would have been resolved sooner; thus less hourly charge) I had to get another opinion as to type of door lock to change it to, as it would involve my homeowners' association. I therefore contacted GKLS. We set up an appointment, Bill came on time and checked my lock situation. After testing my lock, he asked me specific questions to understand the situation I experienced during my supposed "frozen lock". They also get you back in your house ! I got locked out of my own house (by sheer stupidity) and my partner was at work for a couple of hours. I called Gem's and they were there in 20 minutes. He spent 15-20 minutes reopening my door and I was back in my house. I called to have two car keys cut and programmed, he asked if they need laser cut and I wasn't sure so I told him I believe so. He was able to meet me right away, when he saw the keys he said they didn't need laser cut and told me the price is $30 less than what he quoted me over the phone. He quickly cut the keys and had them programmed in about a half hour. He even tried to program my old key and tested the battery to confirm that its electronics are no longer working.
