This restaurant is in a gated Hilton Resort, Bakers Cay. We stayed there last year and had a decent dinner at this restaurant. (It is not any anything close our favorite place but it was close and traffic was a little heavy.) Decided to go again with friends to the restaurant but are staying at another resort. We got to the gate and by speaker we're asked our business. Gave our name and said we wanted to have dinner. She said she didn't have us in her reservation list. We said we didn't have one. "We don't take walk ins. You have to exit the property". She opened the gate for us to turn around. I immediately got on Open Table and made a reservation. We parked instead and the speaker woman came out and started yelling"I said to exit the property immediately! You don't have a reservation!" I said "Yes we do ma'am, would you like to see it?" Showed her, she actually said, "You just made this! You're not on my list, I said leave!" No wonder it's not hard to get a reservation with a staff that is that incredibly rude. My husband asked to speak to a manager. She said "I am the manager." She lied, she wasn't. Unfortunately there were no apologies from the manager. We felt like criminals. We went down the road and spent our money elsewhere and will never be back. Filed a complaint with Hilton Corporate. read more

Our meal was phenomenal. I had blackened mahi, Brussels, & broccolini and the portions were totally worth the price. The Server let me substitute my rice for Brussels. Would certainly dine at Calusa again, while staying at Bakers. A+ Highly Recommend!! read more

Cant say I'm impressed with this place. My husband and I split an order of conch fritters and the lobster pasta. Both plates were good, but nothing out of this world. We found it to be extremely over priced for the quality & quantity of food. We also ordered a modelo (beer) and a piña colada (which I do recommend!) and spent just shy of $80 including tip. read more

Great restaurant! Excellent service! This place needs more reviews. We booked a 4-night stay at the resort and went to this restaurant on the first night. I have to say it exceeded my expectations. We ordered the conch fritters (full of conch, not flour) and shrimp cocktail (chopped into bite-size pieces) for apps. Both were fantastic. For entrees, we ordered the short rib with bak choy (fall-off the bone soft) and the seafood pasta (full of creamy lobster and shrimp). We returned for another dinner on our third night, and we left very satisfied again. We ordered the burrata (lots of fresh heirloom tomatoes) to start. For mains, we ordered the rum chicken (tender and tasty) and blackened mahi (very flavorful). This time we couldn't leave without dessert. We ordered the award winning key lime pie (so soft and fluffy) and white chocolate bread pudding (doused in delicious rum sauce). Last but not least, the restaurant has a great view. Definitely give this place a try if you've never been. read more

Although the place is absolutely gorgeous, I was quite disappointed. We enjoyed a girls weekend at Baker's Cay in Key Largo. The resort is beautiful. You feel as though you are miles away in a tropical island. The weather was a little gloomy so we decided to have drinks and dinner at Calusa, one of the resorts fine dining establishments. We arrived early to partake in some adult beverages at the bar. The drinks were delicious and even reasonably priced. We then requested an outdoor ocean view table and we were seated right away. Although the place was busy, but not overwhelmingly so, no one attended us for several minutes. We even waited quite some time before were were offered the drink menu or even water service. Once we met our waitress we already knew what we wanted and ordered right away. As the evening progressed we wondered what the delay was because after 40 minutes we hadn't received our appetizers nor bread. At first We took it in stride, since we were in no rush and after all, this is island time. We then noticed new people being seated and even Getting bread and appetizers before we did. I checked with the waitress and she buys that they had given our appetizer to another table and she was very apologetic. We advised that if the food was almost ready, we just prefer getting the entrees and to cancel the appetizer. However, she assured us that the appetizer was on its way and the entrees would arrive shortly there after. More than an hour and a half after being seated we finally received our appetizer and the entrées basically at the same time. She was once again very apologetic, and even offered to discount the cost of the appetizer. However, as patient as I am, I Don't believe I will be returning to this establishment anytime soon. read more

Service was very slow. Took them over 20 minutes to just greet us. Came in for breakfast because Dry Rocks was closed, sat at the bar thinking it would easier and faster. JOKE! No bartender at the bar. Love the resort, not a fan of their restaurants . Highly recommend driving somewhere to eat. read more

Unbelievable experience this time at Calusa. The new head chef has turned this menu around. I had the most amazing Mahi Mahi dinner with coconut rice and a delicious pineapple glaze! The appetizer of shrimp and Cajun seasoning with cabbage slaw was Incredible. Brunch was also much better than our last experience here. I highly recommend this spot in Key Largo! read more

My family and I stayed at Baker's Cay for a weekend vacation and had our dinner here both nights. They have indoor and outdoor seating and the ambiance is very beach chic. In terms of food, you can't go wrong with anything here. All the seafood dishes were excellent. For appetizers we tried the conch fritters (4 in a serving) and drummettes. For entrees between all of us we tried all the fish dishes, lobster pasta, scallops, and shrimp and grits - all delicious! For dessert the beignets and key lime pie are very good! The servers are on island time, but very friendly. All in all it was a solid place to go to for dinner and we would definitely return! read more

We went here to celebrate my husband's birthday and couldn't have had a nicer evening. The view of the sunset is amazing, found was outstanding, equally wonderful service and complementary bubbly at sunset was icing on the cake! We had the calamari, lobster and pork belly tacos and scallops which were all amazing! The bread pudding was the recommended dessert by our waiter and was delicious! We will be back! read more

We were seated 30 minutes late for our reservation. Server was great, but food was over cooked and dry. We ordered conch fritters, they were over cooked and burned by the oil. My son got the lobster pasta and said that was good. I had the yellow snapper, it was over cooked and dry. My other sons chicken was so dry we could barely cut it up, the fries were mediocre at best. My wife's salad was ok, but hard to mess up a salad. We passed on dessert even though it was a birthday celebration didn't want to spend anymore money at this poor restaurant. Better food at the Dry Rocks bar downstairs. The food at Calusa was over priced and over cooked. We were dissatisfied and canceled our other reservation before leaving the table. There are so many better options a mile in either direction on the highway. Couldn't pay me to eat here again. Considering the quality of the resort we expected so much more. read more

Ate the fish dip app and it was amazing. Server gave us bread too late for best enjoyment. Lobster pasta was perfect and was generous in size. Lots of shrimp and lobster. Mahi mahi was good, and my husband loved it. Worth the cost. Service was perfunctory. read more

Food was really just ok. Dessert was good. It was all over priced. The best experience I had was breakfast one morning when the really only excellent server (Alice) actually brought me the xtra crispy bacon that I ordered! I am so unbelievably disappointed with Calusa and the service we had from Justin tonight. Justin was absent for most of our experience and the manager didn't make up for it. Upon arrival, we ordered a round of veryyyy watered down drinks. After 55 minutes had passed since ordering appetizers (in an empty restaurant for the record) we were ready to go back to our room. After a long day at the beach, we just wanted to rely on Calusa to do its job for dinner service. We went up to the manager to ask where our apps were, because Justin was no where to be found, and she told us she would compliment our apps and give them to us "to-go" so we could leave. Justin came out a few minutes later and gave us the bill, with just our drinks on it. The appetizers were never brought out to us "to-go" and after paying the bill, Justin requested a separate server to bring us our final tipping receipt. Purely embarrassing. Save yourself overpriced food and drink and terrible service- and go somewhere else. read more

Calusa was a great restaurant at the Bakers Cay Resort. We had breakfast here three days and everyday was a great experience. I especially enjoyed the Lox and Broken Egg Yolks Sandwich. Swap the bacon for ham. It was like a grilled cheese with ham and eggs on it. The crispy buttered sourdough bread was excellent. Would definitely recommend! read more

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. We have a condo nearby, so will definitely be back. Our server was Jerrica & she was excellent. I had the nightly special, which was rack of lamb. It was cooked perfectly & absolutely delicious. My husband ordered off menu. The chef made him mahi with coconut rice, with a side of their lemongrass curry sauce. It was so good, that I'm going to ask for it on our next visit. We topped the meal off with one of their many tempting desserts. It was a little pineapple & rum bundt cake served warm with coconut ice cream. It was the perfect ending to our meal & worth every calorie. This Resturant is probably one of the worst places I have ever been to. The service is not suitable for a Hilton hotel, and the manager have no clue on how to speak to customers. We were a large party of 18 people, and none of us enjoyed the food! We waited an hour and a half for the grilled fish, and by the time we got it the rest of our party was already done eating. When we mentioned it to the manager she suggested that we will take it in a box, since she was going to charge us anyways. Too bad it's impossible to give Zero stars. read more
