Key Largo seems to be a desert for decent restaurants so I'm guessing that's why this place gets a lot of attention. It's possible to sit with a great view but we didn't. We stayed at the resort so had a nice view all week. Negroni was ok - not the normal recipe. Food was just ok - smallish portion of mussels - some shells were smashed which was weird. Service was somewhat indifferent- 20% service is added on so no incentives. Prices are high relative to quality and portion but that's a thing in the area. read more

So we were thinking of going out to dinner but we needed food for the dogs so we went up to get some grilled chicken and veggies but the menu was more complex so we ordered them the half chicken with brussel sprouts and coconut rice. It wa amazing. The dogs loved it and the few bites I had were great. It convinced us to stay and eat at the hotel. We were given free drink cards at guest services for being gold HH members so we went to the bar for a drink and decided to order an app as well. We ordered the "Fish Crudo" which happened to be Scallop, and where I come from is a "shellfish". The flavor of the sauce was good but the raw Scallop was not what we were expecting and we did not care for it. The complementary drinks were a choice of a honey Gin and lemon cocktail or a grapefruit mimosa so we had one of each. They were both sweet but tasty! We decided to get a table to have dinner and relax . We had an amazing and super nice server who took great care of us. We ordered the grouper and the lobster Pasta. The Grouper was amazing and the lobster Pasta was meh. The Pasta was dry and not much flavor so I helped my honey eat his dish. Then the main attraction was the desert. We had the Rum cake and we should have ordered 2 because it was the best rum cake I have ever had. I would drive down to the keys just for that Rum Cake. Staff is extremely rude. We came here to have breakfast on our last day of vacation. We were sat fairly quickly inside which was nice. However, when ordering our meal we ordered waffles, upon being brought our food the server immediately says "enjoy your food" in complete disregard that I was asking for syrup. My husband said "excuse me" once again and he asked her, in which the server smiled down and said to give him a second. The server proceeds to walk into the kitchen and begin yelling at everyone. The prices for the food are very expensive compared to the food you get. Once we asked another waitress for syrup we were also looked at as if we were aliens. This hotel is extremely expensive for the service you receive. Not worth it. read more

This restaurant has an AMAZING dinner! The service, food, and ambience is amazing. This restaurant is in Bakers Cay resort and definitely worth stopping by. We had an amazing waitress who was both sweet and honest and very understanding of special dietary needs. What I ordered: -Jerk shrimp: this shrimp dish appetizer had an amazing flavor! The portion was small but it was perfect for a pre-meal dish that didn't ruin your appetite for your main entree. -Grilled Mahi: this dish was INCREDIBLE! This was my favorite dish I had while staying in Key Largo. The fish is gauva glazed and comes with sweet potato, sausage, and veggies sautéed together with a blood orange glaze. It was all incredible. I highly recommend this dish! The menu is very gluten free friendly and nut free friendly. Most of the dishes don't contain gluten or nuts. Great dining experience as a party of 7, all orders were correct and steaks cooked to perfection. 3rd floor seating provided a great overlook of treetops (too dense to see the beach) and ocean further out with an ever present background sound of cicadas. We had the best experience at Calusa. We were staying at Baker Cay and I reached out to the restaurant before as my son (9) has celiac disease and to find out which meals are gluten free and can be prepared for him safely to avoid cross contact. Janell Rose, Calusa GM, and the chef patiently answered my questions via email. When we arrived at the restaurant, Janell greeted us and told us that the chef will do anything to prepare a yummy meal that is safe. They brought us gf bread with oil and butter and prepared pan-fried french fries for my son, as they don't have a dedicated fryer. He also had the Mahi, which he loved. Our waiter Justin was incredible too. Everyone went above and beyond. We truly had the best time and will definitely be back. read more

We came for the buffet brunch and the view. Our waitress had just moved from the midwest and was full of charm and accommodation. They had just updated the buffet with smoked salmon which is my go to for a buffet. The condiments were minimal but it was enough to make us happy. It is worth the wait for a table overlooking the sea with the sailboats and the American Flag in the distance it is a relaxing way to start your day with basic hotel food that is good for a family brunch. read more

This top notch restaurant is fairly new and the ambience is definitely something to look forward to. They are located on the 3rd floor inside Casa Bay Resort and the view during sunset is something you can't miss! Food are pretty pricey mostly due to ambience, location, & quality of the food not necessarily the amount. Great for date nights, formal dinners, or just a relaxing restaurant with a great view. For entrees, I definitely recommend the "Filet & Florida Lobster Tail" and the "Seared Scallops". Very savory and the scallops literally melts in your mouth. Our server, Sean, always gives us updates on our food, was always smiling, and gave us very good recommendations. The only thing was that our food took a little longer but we did have a big group. Calusa at Baker's Cay resort was surprisingly great for a hotel restaurant. Our first meal here was for Christmas dinner and it was fantastic! The filet was cooked perfectly and supremely tender. The tuna tower was light, fresh and very tasty. And the other sides, appetizers and desserts were all really great too. We ate many breakfast meals here during our stay. We never ordered the same thing twice, so lots of options on the menu and everything we had was good. I did have two dishes where the eggs were to be poached or over easy and both came out over cooked. This is my only complaint though. I have to give Rusty and Tiffany a shout out for their impeccable service - top notch! Lastly, the views of the water are a nice addition to the ambiance and decor. read more

We stayed at Baker's Cay Resort by Hilton and Calusa is on the property grounds. Calusa is also where you utilize your Hilton Honors member continental breakfast benefits. The resort gives you a total credit of $38 for two guests per day towards breakfast, which is a pretty generous amount compared to other properties. This credit includes the tax and gratuity of what the normal cold, continental breakfast would cost. If you look at the Calusa menu, there are different options, one being a full breakfast buffet, or other items you can order off the menu. If you upgrade to the full breakfast buffet, you essentially pay an extra $5 per person each day. The full breakfast buffet is well worth it if you like to enjoy juice with your breakfast as the breakfast buffet includes your drink. After you charge your breakfast to the room, the adjustment is done by the front desk and is shown at check-out. The one minor annoying thing is there is verbiage stating to notify Calusa staff that you are a Hilton Honors member when you arrive. The Calusa staff have nothing to do with the credit and will specifically state as much, so it's useless to tell them you are a Hilton Honors member that receives the free breakfast. The breakfast buffet is absolutely amazing and well worth paying the extra. They offer fresh orange, pineapple, cranberry, and grapefruit juice that is outstanding. They also offer fresh fruit which I ate every single morning I was there; it's hard to find fresh fruit that is that good back home, so I took advantage of it! They also offer an omelet station with the buffet which is good, along with your traditional breakfast pastries and breads, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and a chef's special that changes daily. Calusa did get busy while we were there, and we did have to wait a few minutes some days as we wanted to sit outside, but it was always worth the wait. We also made reservations for the Thanksgiving buffet during our stay. The buffet included everything from salad, soup, sides, turkey, prime rib, and desert. When eating my salad, I realized there was something in my mouth moving around. Come to find out that a green lettuce bug was in my salad, which I showed the restaurant manager. She didn't seem to care too much at first, and we didn't have anywhere else to turn for our Thanksgiving dinner, so we decided to stay and avoided the salad area the rest of the meal. The manager did come back about a half hour after the incident and offered to discount our bill 50%, which we accepted. Besides that ordeal, the buffet was just OK for the price we paid - it's probably not something I would do again if I stayed there next Thanksgiving (even if I wouldn't of had a bug in my meal). Food was out of the park, and our server was amazing!! Our cockails were perfect, and our food was even better. A couple of my friends had the filet - cooked perfectly, moist, delicious. My husband and bff had the local snapper - very flavorful and you could taste how fresh it was! I had the Lobster and local pinks pasta.....I'm a pasta freak, and this was perfect. 3.5 would be my rating but as you know, Yelp doesn't do half stars lol. Anyways let me explain my rating. First you must have a reservation to get past the person at the gate, which I did not know. Thankfully I was able to just pull up a quick reservation on my phone while sitting at the gate but it should be advertised on the website to avoid confusion. Next I am unsure if they were just short staffed when I went on Sunday, but it was taking forever for a server to come over to me, and then took 30 minutes to get 1 drink. At first I ordered something that I didn't realize was on the dinner menu and not made during brunch hours, but my server came back 15 minutes later to tell me that it was not available at that time and then I had to order something else. I ordered a Bloody Mary which was very good to start but after drinking half of it, I got an absolutely nasty taste from the drink to the point where I didn't even finish it, and I am not one to leave a drink behind. Not sure if it was too much vodka, or mix, but it was so gross. Next I ordered lobster Benedict which was actually quite yummy, my only suggestion is to add more hollandaise sauce because it came with a giant crumpet which would have been perfect to soak up some extra sauce. To finish I had key lime pie which was delicious. Beware they do add 20% gratuity so keep that in mind when paying the bill. The views are spectacular and the hotel is very charming. Overall it was a good enough experience that I would come back, but just some things to be aware of. read more

Visited for a birthday dinner while staying at Bakers Cay. The wedge salad was served with bib lettuce instead of iceberg. So that nice crisp refreshing wedge was a cut up bib salad. The conch fritters were great but wasn't impressed with the sauce they are served with. It doesn't work with the taste of the fritter and a zippy heavy cilantro based sauce. A normal island classic should stay with its expected renowned sauce. The 8oz filet had been ordered medium and both came out well done. The well done steak was an unexpected workout to cut since they didn't have steak knives and we had to use our butter knives. The key lime dessert was great and brought this review up a notch; With a strong graham cracker base and exquisite lime taste it was a nice compliment to the ending of this meal. read more

Absolutely horrid service. First we had to wait 5 minutes before even SEEING the hostess. Then we had to wait for a table to open up because the table cleaners were running behind even though there were plenty of tables. The waitress was terrible. She never checked in on us and after we finished eating she wouldn't even bring us our check. We waited over twenty minutes before finally deciding to get up and find her. They will also automatically charge gratuity into your check so they can get away with the terrible service. The food was also bland and over priced. Don't order the smoked salmon bagel. I stayed at the resort for the weekend so I was able to eat at Calusa for breakfast as well as dinner and I need to add every item that I and my a family of five everyone was extremely satisfied . I wrote this in my review of the resort but I have to point out again the serving staff that was there for breakfast and dinner provided five star service. They greeted us and check back with us always making sure we had what we need. For breakfast French toast was the big hit for me along with the eggs Benedict for dinner definitely the pasta it is like something you have never tasted before I also had the fried fish which was perfect.. This restaurant is in a gated Hilton Resort, Bakers Cay. We stayed there last year and had a decent dinner at this restaurant. (It is not any anything close our favorite place but it was close and traffic was a little heavy.) Decided to go again with friends to the restaurant but are staying at another resort. We got to the gate and by speaker we're asked our business. Gave our name and said we wanted to have dinner. She said she didn't have us in her reservation list. We said we didn't have one. "We don't take walk ins. You have to exit the property". She opened the gate for us to turn around. I immediately got on Open Table and made a reservation. We parked instead and the speaker woman came out and started yelling"I said to exit the property immediately! You don't have a reservation!" I said "Yes we do ma'am, would you like to see it?" Showed her, she actually said, "You just made this! You're not on my list, I said leave!" No wonder it's not hard to get a reservation with a staff that is that incredibly rude. My husband asked to speak to a manager. She said "I am the manager." She lied, she wasn't. Unfortunately there were no apologies from the manager. We felt like criminals. We went down the road and spent our money elsewhere and will never be back. Filed a complaint with Hilton Corporate. read more

It was my favorite in Key Largo. It is inside Bakers Bay. The food is less heavy, more Miami style, refined and less like what you usually find in key largo. It has healthier options more of a gastronomic dining experience which there aren't many in Key Largo. Majorly of the restaurants in key largo are dress code casual. This place is a bit more upscale and trendy. The only negative is that they are closed for lunch and closed on Sunday. Try the smoked Old Fashion cocktail! read more
