Collegian Movers - Local Greenwich Moves

Collegian Movers

(2 reviews)

I don't often leave negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share our experience. We hired…read moreCollegian Movers for a local move within Greenwich, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. Just one year earlier, we moved from New York City to Greenwich with the same furniture and significantly more boxed belongings, and that move was completed in just 8 hours, including travel time. This local move took approximately 12 hours. Throughout the day, there were long periods where little work was being done, crew members stood around talking or arguing, and the team never seemed organized or coordinated. My husband repeatedly had to direct the crew, help move items himself, and reassemble furniture that should have been handled by the movers. To make matters worse, multiple pieces of our furniture were damaged, several items were reassembled incorrectly, hardware was stripped from the improper use of power tools, and our walls and floors were damaged during the move. What was equally disappointing was how Collegian handled the situation afterward. I contacted the company immediately to discuss both the excessive charges and the damage. I was told they would investigate and follow up promptly. Despite multiple follow-up emails, I never received a meaningful response or any resolution. Mistakes can happen during any move. What matters is how a company responds, and that's where Collegian fell short. Between the inefficient move, the damage to our home and furniture, and the lack of communication afterward, we cannot recommend this company. Even if they offered to move us again for free, we would decline.\

Collegian were fast to respond and very courteous on the phone…read more The price was fair. The workers were on time, very polite. The were inquisitive consistently to our needs. Which was nice. We made some changes when moving furniture to where each item were to be placed and they obliged every time Only negative things to point out there little scratches here and there on furniture. Overall satisfied and grateful.

Edit: I am updating my negative review in the positive direction…read more TLDR: I was happy with the owner and should I need moving help, would happily give Two Brothers a call. After seeing my review I received a call from the owner (Christoper) and we had a cordial conversation. He went over my concerns and addressed them to my satisfaction. I will go over each concern in order. The original review is further below. 1) Yelp apparently does not give businesses the opportunity to put anything on the page to properly set expectations. While the page on Yelp says users will get a quote based on the questions it asks, it apparently doesn't gather sufficient information to allow the movers to do so. Therefore the setting an incorrect expectation of getting a quote after supplying the requested info is a problem on the Yelp side and not something Two Brothers can impact in any way. 2) Apparently Yelp forwards the information entered to multiple parties to give them an opportunity to compete without informing users they are doing so. In my case, the anonymous text I received seems to be from a competitor rather than from Two Brothers. 3) The part of not giving me a call back in an hour (called the next day instead) as promised was an error on their part and Christopher took responsibility for it. He said there was no way to know if they will be free in that amount of time because they won't hang up on someone or otherwise interrupt assisting another client to give someone a call back. The employee should have said he would attempt to call back in an hour but would call back no later than next day. In short, I found Christopher responsive, professional, quite cordial, and pleasant to speak with. As stated above, I would happily give them a call should I need moving services again in CT. ------------------------------------- Initial review follows: ------------------------------------- Based on my experience attempting to get a quote, I don't think I will be using this company. I filled out the Yelp form to get a quote. Instead of a quote, I received a text back about 10 minutes later from a person who didn't identify themselves or their company. It said to expect a call tomorrow to go over how they can help me. The unidentified person said I should contact them if I didn't hear back. The next morning I did get a call but it was at a time when I had a prior appointment and couldn't talk. I asked if they could call back a little later and the person agreed to call me back in an hour. I never received the call back. Essentially they fell short multiple times in setting expectations and keeping commitments (yelp quote not provided when the info was provided on their form, not identifying themselves when contacting me, not verifying a convenient time to call, not giving the promised call back. All of this may be considered minor but it is a pattern. I can only imagine what I would have to go through if a major problem came up and I had a similar experience in trying to get assistance. I'll be exploring other options to see if anyone else can display a higher level of reliability and professionalism on the first contact.

This year has been a lot of moving for me, and moving is so stressful. I've heard great reviews…read morefrom my nyc friends about roadway moving, so I decided to get a quote from them. After talking to them, I knew I wanted to go with them. Their customer service, attention to details, and organization are 5-star levels. One thing that really stood out to me was that instead of asking me how many boxes I need, they asked me to send them pics of my place and stuff, and they calculated the number of small, medium and large boxes I need. It's so easy to underestimate and get a different price at the end. Also, I know I wanted packers because its speeds up the entire process of moving and settling in. I'm so glad I did with Roadway. It usually takes me over half a week to pack and be stressed for over a week, but Diego and his 3 teammates packed up our studio in 2-3 hours. They're so professional. They moved so quickly with care and accuracy. Most importantly, all my kitchen appliances were wrapped with care and delivered and arrived to my new apartment in the same condition. It took us about 2 hrs to settle in, and they once again unpacked most of the furnitures and reassembled them, making me feel settled in and relaxed. I cannot thank their team enough. They're all so polite, friendly and efficient. Within 1 day, I already feel 95% settled in. It's the easiest, stress-free moving experience I had in a while!

I had quite a lot of furniture and boxes for today's move, and Joe at the helm, sorting out the contents safely and securely in the truck was the master of spatial relationships - did he have a shoehorn? I don't know, but the team was a well honed machine, which is a reflection on their leader. And not one thing broken or damaged. Those sweet guys were each willing to double-check, go the extra step to place things here and there in my new place. I highly recommend Mancuso Movers, which I have used in 2015 and again in 2020. I needed a very small move done and after getting ridiculous quotes and being turned down by a few other moving companies, I remembered my friends recommendation. Extremely professional! If you're looking for a moving company, you have two choices. You can hire one of the "big guys" and pay more than you need to, or you can hire Mancuso Movers, pay a fair price and support a family business.

We could not have been happier with this experience!! From the detailed quote provided by Steve, who was quick to respond to questions, to the actual day of the move, everything went...well, smooth is the best word! The quote was completely accurate, nothing above what we expected was charged, even though we ended up having more to move than expected, which took a bit longer, but they stood by their quoted hourly rate. As for the move itself, I cannot say enough about the efficiency, professionalism and respectfulness of Jonathan, Edwin and Brandon. They made a great team, and they made a stressful and difficult process much easier for us. I highly recommend Smooth Move!! Service: Local move

If you're thinking of trusting Smooth Move with your belongings, don't. What they call a "storage…read morefacility" is nothing more than a filthy, gutted office floor masquerading as legitimate space. No storage cubes, no organization--just a disgraceful setup that looks like it was abandoned years ago. Almost $1,200 , and from the very first pickup (less than a two‑minute drive, with items already packed), the nightmare began. The contents were tied to an eviction, and the rightful owner desperately needed access to essentials--credit card, cash, and medicine. Smooth Move held those items hostage for over a week, forcing needless suffering just to retrieve basic necessities. And as if the humiliation of their "facility" wasn't enough, they capped it off by overbilling my credit card just under $200. That's not just incompetence--it's exploitation. Smooth Move isn't a storage company. It's a scam dressed up as service, a disgusting office space pretending to be legitimate. Save yourself the agony: avoid them at all costs.
