Alan and Walter are the best! they removed my issue and followed months later to ensure all was well, highly recommend!

Why five stars? We had four companies come out because we thought we heard rodents in the attic. He was one of two who said that, in fact, the attic appeared to be well-sealed, that there was no sign of any rodents, and that any small black things that two other companies reported was just tiny piece of foam left over from when the building was constructed. He did think we heard squirrels, but that they were probably running on the roof and/or gutters. He suggested buying Cayenne pepper in bulk from Costco and scattering around likely points where they climbed. read more

I can't recommend this company from my experience. Walter was friendly. Alan was professional at first, but rather rude with poor customer service when issues arose. My partner went into the crawl space to investigate a smell, and saw a dead rat (he said it had been dead for a while). I notified CA Rodent Solutions to get it removed. They were responsive, which was good, but when Walter came out, he didn't see it and left! I complained, then Alan came out (I told him specifically where to go). He removed it, but claimed that it had been dead for years. Two rodent servicemen had been in the crawl space within 2 months prior to my partner discovering the rat, and they didn't see it. Also, my research on the rate of decay of rats does not support Alan's claim. The whole experience was frustrating. I should've paid a few hundred dollars more to go with the big company competitor. read more

I had high hopes for California Rodent Solutions. Initially, everything went great. I had signed a one year contract with them, and after 3 months, with weekly visits, Walter, who was our exterminator stopped coming. We continued to have mice caught in traps, and I called several times to have Walter come back out. Alan, owner, never called me back, and needless to say Walter never came back to our home. Good start, bad ending. Will not be calling them again. read more

Short version: California Rodent Solutions solved our rat problem. Highly recommend. Longer version: Almost a year ago I thought I heard rats in our wall. Alan was one of the top rated businesses on Nextdoor so I contacted him and had him take a look. Simultaneously found the entry points and gave me a full on rat education. It was super interesting and I really appreciate him taking the time. There was a full rat family living under my house rent free. The way it worked for me is similar to other people's reviews: - Meet, assess situation, find entry points, etc - Estimate cost - Once approved CRS will send someone out. - They secure all holes with custom made metal screens/grates or one way doors (rat can get out but can't get back in) - After securing the house, traps are set for any rats that may not leave through the 1 way doors - Once this is all setup CRS leaves and returns in a week or two to clear traps and reset. - As traps are empty CRS will return less frequently until they deem the problem resolved. We have not had any rat activity since! Super effective. Separately, we did have an adult raccoon try to break into our crawlspace by ripping off a screen CRS did NOT install. The screen was ruined. I talked to CRS and they came immediately, installed a new much thicker metal screen and charged me nothing. read more

Experts. Rat whisperers. Masters through exhaustive study and experience. Getting rid of Rats is not easy, quick nor simple. Many of us non-experts make reasonable assumptions that while logical, are wrong. Alan is the A team. He will construct a layered action plan and follow up like a man obsessed. Price was lower than the previous failed professional that I had in immediately before. He made the kind caretaker of a kind old lady extremely relieved. read more

This company is wonderful!! Their customer service is amazing! They really care about making your situation better!! I 100% recommend them. My dog can now play freely in his backyard with no fear of skunks or opossums!! read more

I was VERY impressed with his honest and valued opinion of my situation. For context, I did not have any active rodent issues, but had a reroof done recently and wanted to get some exclusion work done on the pipe jacks in the attic. He assessed the situation looking around the house and in the attic itself. He provided very insightful information, which I could tell was based on his many years of experience in this industry. Appreciate the hugely valuable info! read more

If I could give more stars, I would. Hiring this company to get rid of our rat problem was the best decision and the best money ever spent. My only regret is that I didn't find Alan (owner) and his company sooner and call immediately when we noticed the first rat. That's my #1 piece of advice to anyone dealing with rats---don't wait. Putting out your own traps and catching rats one at a time is a waste of time and you lose precious days while they multiply and explode in population. We didn't realize how quickly the situation could turn from a small infestation into a full-blown rat infestation in a matter of a few months due to the quick breeding cycle of rats. Also, Alan and his staff are in demand because they are so good at this. He did his best to get us in ASAP once I called, but still it can take a few weeks to get on his calendar and get started due to his busy schedule. Also, we learned that catching rats is a process with many steps involved, based on the differing habits of males, females and juveniles. Setting traps is only one part of the bigger plan that must be followed to get rid of them. To summarize our experience: This was for a property I manage in the Bay Area. We had tried everything else before making the call to California Rodent Solutions, including having a property manager set traps all over (which caught rats, but didn't solve the problem and actually was our big mistake because we lost the key window of time before a lot of babies were born). Solving a rat problem has to be addressed from all angles (e.g., first sealing all potential entrances to house, putting on temporary revolving doors to get the males out, and then catching the females and juveniles that won't leave the house on their own). At the first appointment, Alan came and did the initial walkthrough of the house and property with me. He spent a lot of time explaining the entire science and logistics of how he and his assistant work, based on his vast knowledge of rats and experience with their patterns. Everything he told me at that initial meeting (about the extent of the infestation, the rat behavior, how to achieve the results we wanted, and the timeline) proved to be correct. To make a long story short, Alan and his assistant, Walter, effectively got rid of all the rats. It took months because we had a huge problem-- like something you see in a horror movie with rats living throughout the house and actually running through rooms while people are sitting there eating dinner, and gnawing into cabinets and getting into kitchen food. Our situation was definitely much more challenging than a typical client because the infestation had taken off and we discovered we had multiple female rats living and breeding in the attic and walls. Alan and Walter never gave up until the job was done. Their work ethic and commitment to their client is quite frankly something you don't see much these days in business. They really care, they put 100% of themselves into their work, and they don't give up until the job is done. At one point, I offered Alan more money because I felt we were taking up much more of their time than was fair for the price he'd charged us. He wouldn't take more money, even when I pressed a few times. Talk about integrity! This guy is the real deal. I cannot speak highly enough about this company and Alan. I highly recommend them. And finally, when weeks had passed without any sight of rats and droppings, and all traps had been clear for weeks, Alan sent me a text saying they were going to stop coming but to let him know immediately if we see anything and they will come back. Alan offers a one-year warranty from when they start the work, included in the flat-fee. read more

I had a rodent problem in my crawlspace, and was very frustrated by inability of myself and others to find how the critters were getting inside. I spoke to Alan and he described his approach to the problem, as he focuses on finding how they get in, not doing cleanup or repair work. I liked this approach and engaged him, and he gave me a thorough evaluation of where the rodents were entering the crawlspace. I had a number of other firms inspect the property, and no one else caught the entry point that Alan did. He proposed a solution to eliminate the rodents with one-way access points, blocking any other possible entry points, and setting traps. After having implemented this for several weeks, I believe this approach has worked. I highly recommend Alan to anyone who is as frustrated as I was in finding out how these little bastards get into your house!! read more

Great expert service and great communication throughout the project. I would highly recommend to anyone.

Alan is as good as it gets when it comes to repelling rodents and keeping them away for good. We heard rats in the attic of our new (vintage) home and contacted Alan to see what we could do about the problem. He came and got into the attic to do the inspection, identified areas that they were entering, and gave us a very reasonable quote after really taking the time to explain to us everything he would do. He returned on another date, closed off the areas, installed one-way traps and we haven't heard any rats or seen evidence of them since! Not only that, he was very friendly with our dog, and chose flashing that matched our house trim color (rather than using noticeable traditional flashing) which was incredibly thoughtful. He is very friendly and professional and will do only what he believes is necessary (not one to up-sale you). We liked him so much we hired his services again when we were having trouble with skunks getting into our yard. We haven't seen any skunks since either, and before they were a nightly occurrence. One other thing that we really appreciate about Alan is his dedication to rat/animal exclusion, rather than extermination. He aims to get the rats out, rather than trapping or killing. We appreciate Alan and could not recommend him more. read more

We had a potential rodent problem and called Alan based on Nextdoor recommendation's. He is extremely knowledgeable, honest and enthusiastic. You can tell he has been in the business for 35+ years. In the end we didn't need any work performed but Alan gave good recommendations on keeping the rats away. If we have a future problem he will be the only specialist that I call. read more

For some time as in more than a month I could hear rumblings in the attic and it was apparent that I had a rodent issue. Prior to this issue I had had a similar problem two years back. I had hired someone to plug all the holes and the work performed then was good but it was clear that the "roof rats" had found a new opening to the attic. So I needed that solved. I called a couple of pest control firms and the first one spent about 20 seconds, looking into the attic and immediately decided that I had to redo the entire attic insulation and he came up with a ridiculous over charge. He didn't even climb into the attic. He just poked his head in and found rat droppings and came up with the solution. Another representative came over inspected the house and though he was thorough and checked the outside of the house he suggested fumigation and then I asked me to hire someone else to cleanup the mess. So that was a non starter too. I then called up Alan at California Rodent Solutions. He was thorough in explaining about the rat problem in general and inspected my house, the attic and the roof as well and given his vast experience he pointed out how the rats were making their ways into my attic. It was through a roof vent and he pointed out that they had found holes in the crawl space.  It wasn't difficult to hire Alan for the work needed. Walter, who works for Alan came after a week and plugged all the holes and they came up with a solution of a one way door to the roof vent, thus allowing the rodent to escape but not get back in. Walter also had work to do in the crawl space and in the roof and he closed all the spots where he suggested rats may find a way to enter the house. He also set traps. Eventually he ended up catching about 5 rats with the traps and he has followed up every fortnight to check on the traps... His last visit was this Wednesday and I can clearly say that my house for the last month and a half has been rat free. All thanks to the work of Alan and Walter from California Rodent Solutions. They will get the work done and if you have a rodent issue call them  and get an estimate... I recommend the work by Walter and Alan and ask for Walter. He will end up doing the eventual work.... read more

Alan is super good and professional, he can answers all our questions patiently and precisely. He solved our raccoon problem promptly with his expertise and charged us at very reasonable price. He is nice and helpful. We appreciate his help and he is really an expert. read more

This is probably the best pest control company out there! Alan is honest and true to his word. My sister recently has a rodent problem in her condo and my office had a Rat that kept coming in after hours. I called Alan to get some advice on what we could do. Alan was very knowledgeable when it comes to bugs and Rats. He was able to accommodate coming to our home/business during weekend hours and manages to resolve the issue within a few short days. California rodent solutions is by far the most competitive company out there. They're honest, efficient and explain the process step by step. They don't overcharge or make you feel like you're doing anything unnecessary to keep the little buggers away. I would call California rodent solutions to get an estimate and they'll surely take care of the problem. read more

I am writing this review on behalf of my retired neighbor. My neighbor hired Alan over a year ago on the recommendation of an acquaintance. She had been trying to deal with several rats that had got into her home by herself, but after catching a few, was never able to completely eradicate the problem. Alan came along and assured her that he could get rid of the rats completely. His quote included a year's worth of follow ups. Alan spent time blocking off access under her house, trapping and killing a few inside, but throughout the year she has NEVER been without rats inside her home. Alan was initially quite responsive, but as the months went by, he became less and less responsive, taking days to respond, promising to come out on a certain day, then just not showing up and not even calling. The latest situation was when she had 2 rats trapped under an appliance and asked Alan to come out and help. Alan did not respond at all. Over a year later, she still has rats in her home, and Alan no longer responds to her phone calls/msgs at all. read more

We have had rats over the years but recently we had a Super Rat. He chewed his way into the house from the outside. Our Terrier was very eager to get it but we needed a Pro. We called Alan of C.R.S and he got the job done. He carefully examined the entire outside of the house, found the entry point, sealed it and set traps. We trapped and killed 2 rats. Great job. read more

Wanted to give a shout-out to Alan and his wonderful business. We've been struggling w/rats at our home in the woods for years, and have dealt w/another company in the past whose customer service was less than admirable. However, right from the very beginning, Alan has been awesome. The very first time he met w/us, he spent a long time educating us about all things rat (had no idea there was so much to know about them!), and has faithfully come back week after week to do re-checks, etc. He warranties for a year, so if you ever hear them come back again, he comes right over within a few days to check it out again. Really appreciate his dedication, especially during this Covid season. Our neighbor used them too when the rats from our house then found shelter at their's! Highly recommended!! read more

My neighbor recommended Alan when the termite inspector said it looked like we had a critter problem in our crawl space. (I guess he used to work in lest control) anyway, Alan and his assistant. did a great job for us. Used to occasionally hear scratching behind the wall, don't wanna jinx myself, but it's been quiet for months. read more

If you have rats inside or outside, Alan is your solution!! He has been a lifesaver solving my rat problem when others had failed. He understands the rat mindset, social hierarchy & overall behavior. He was able to identify the problem, secure the premises with wiring & bait boxes & re-evaluate for signs of intrusion. When the rats were determined to get back in the structure & tried to chew through several access points, they were unsuccessful with the interventions in place. When Alan left the company to start California Rodent Solution, I happily followed because he was the most knowledgeable of any person I spoke to regarding rat abatement. Highly recommend! read more

Thank you, Alan and your team of professionals for your help in returning our home to a welcome house in the woods. Moving back into our home that had been rented and had become unknowingly overrun with rats and mice was shocking, sad and frustrating. Not only were they taking over under the house, but they had also made nests in the chimney, walls, under all of the appliances, and chewed through the HVAC. You took care of two houses in a couple of visits and had a team to call for the extreme sanitation that was required. MOSTLY... I appreciate your one-way trap door for those of us that prefer not to kill AND you started within DAYS! 3 months later we are rat-free and you have been here twice to check. We have noticed no crazy influx anywhere else. We are so grateful to have found you on next door. Thanks for your help and patience in explanations about your process. The other humane companies wanted a couple hundred just to come out. You came out free of charge and did everything you said you would, in the time that you said you would do it. read more

If you have a rodent or skunk problem, Alan is your guy. Alan is knowledgeable, thorough, and will fix any issue you have with rats, skunks, raccoons, just to name a few! Great communication, response time, customer service, fair pricing.
