Recently someone gave me a $105.00 California Pizza Kitchen Gift Card. Today I made the mistake of attempting to have lunch at the CPK location (their original location) on South Beverly Drive. The five stars are for the waiter, who was very helpful, and for the food, which was very good. I had the Pizza Lunch Duo with an Original BBQ Chicken Pizza and a cup of Dakota Smashed Peas and Barley Soup. A negative 10 star rating for everything else about this CPK location would be more than it deserves. I am quite nearly 79 years old and have been in many restaurants. CPK today at around 11:45am was the noisiest restaurant I have ever been in even though I was the only customer (no way was I a guest) sitting inside. I sat inside because there was a particular table I wanted to sit at. This was impossible because almost every table in the entire restaurant was covered with bags full of To Go orders. Dozens of people were running around trying to fill all the To Go orders and all talking at the same time. This is the only restaurant I have ever been in where filling To Go orders required any conversation at all. I still have $86.85 left on my CPK Gift Card. I am not sure if I should attempt going to this CPK location again to see if I can sit at the table I wanted to sit at and fleeing at once if I see any tables covered with To Go orders, try going to other CPK locations and fleeing at once if I see any tables covered with To Go orders, or giving the CPK Gift Card to someone. read more

Not a good experience today. Went in for lunch and was told that it would be a 45-60 minute wait for any pizza because they were working on a large takeout order. Seems like there should be some sort of preference or at least a system so that your dine-in customers don't have to suffer because of takeout orders. After all, "pizza" is in your name! So, It had to order a salad and then asked for some bread and guess what... a wait for that too because they were too busy cooking those takeout pizzas. Do better cpk! read more

Maggie stood out. Why ? Not only is she extremely kind and friendly she's very professional simultaneously. I have been a CPK fan for many years and I enjoy the Kung pow pasta. However whenever I order it I alter it and while I was doing that Maggie says did you know you can build your own pasta. Boom ! I could not believe I could have done that all along. It's because the customer service is terrible and the food for some reason is also not very good. The soup was delicious pasta unfortunately was supposed to be. Bolognese turned out to be I don't know what. If you're on Beverly, looking for a good place to eat there are plenty of other options for both good food and good service. It's slow and very judgmental. I'm giving one star for our waiter, but that's it. I've had the Thai chicken pizza at least 100 times in my life--that's not an exaggeration. I know exactly how it should be when it comes out of the oven, so when it arrived with raw carrots on top, I knew something was wrong. The second sign was my father, who never complains about food, saying his fettuccini Alfredo--his favorite--was bad. He's usually a positive, "glass half full" kind of man, so it had to have been mediocre. This location has issues. We won't be returning. The pizza oven is in view . I have had their pizza on many occasions and it is very good ! Fresh hot tasty . We were four of us and we all opted for the full sized salads each . I had the Cobb salad with ranch ! Perfect !!!! Great size . My husband and one friend both had Italian chop which is always a winner . My other friend had bbq salad . Our office ordered lunch from this location today. I ordered the Thai Crunch Salad ... which I have ordered many times before. It came with absolutely NO CHICKEN!!! Not an ounce. How do you completely leave out the protein?? SAD!!! UPDATE: It seems they responded ... only to ask me to rewrite this complaint somewhere else? No apologies? This location is awful ... when you try to pickup at curbside it takes multiple phone calls (most of which are ignored) before they reluctantly come out with your order. I work in the area and enjoy coming here for their lunch special. Food comes out quick allowing me to get back to the office. I'm always able to find seating at the bar and am greeted by the staff. Their lunch duo special is affordable, especially given the area. I enjoy getting the 7" pizza with a side of salad or soup. Paying less than $15 for a hot meal in BH is great. The restaurant has curb pick up, although it does get busy certain times of days. There are also plenty of meters that surround CPK. Most times I've gone the place is quiet. They have a tv above the bar area that will often times play sports games. Pro tip: park across the street at the City for free 2 hour parking. Only reason I knock a star is inconsistency. Sometimes I have to ask for the bread and olive oil and other times the pizza is a little overcooked than previous times. read more

This was hands down the most awful pizza I have ever encountered and was completely inedible. This was supposed to be the tostada pizza, and it was burned and I would have broken a tooth if I chewed it. The toppings were all on the side and included scallions,which I specifically asked not to be on it because I am allergic to all onions. So the entire pizza and all of the toppings had to be tossed. I also ordered the buffalo cauliflower which also had the scallions and so I couldn't eat them either. $40 literally down the drain. I wrote an o line complaint, but big surprise no one reached out. CPK at Beverly Hills is one of my kids' favorite places to eat. The food is consistently good, and the atmosphere is perfect for families. They especially love the pizzas, while my personal favorites are the mushroom pizza and the BBQ salad--they're both always delicious. However, we've had an ongoing issue with the pasta dishes, particularly the Alfredo. Every time my kids order it, the pasta comes with barely any sauce. When we ask for more, they charge extra, which is a bit frustrating. It would be great if they could be more generous with the sauce, especially for a dish that kids love. We like this location, but service has gone down. Waiters disappear or go on break, and no one else covers. One server put his hands up and said, "I'm not your waiter." The pizzas are still good, as is the eggroll appetizer. The spicy cauliflower app was tiny, room temperature, and overpriced. The new Miso Shrimp Salad had flavorless shrimp (boiled or steamed), watery dressing, and the veggies lost their crunch. The waiter "didn't hear us" order the pizza before he vanished. We came here quiet a few times, but now the service seems to have gone way down. We've been sitting for 20 minutes yet still haven't had someone offering is drinks. that's twenty minutes LOL! We just stand around awkwardly until someone acknowledges us or we seat ourselves and hope for the best. At our last visit, service was subpar and food was whatever. They forgot a few of the items we ordered and we had to flag down our server for things, but the kicker is they charged us $3.79 each for club soda from the fountain!!! Ridiculous!! We specifically asked for sparkling water and instead of offering us a bottle, she suggested club soda from the fountain, making it seem like it was free. Never have I ever been charged for club soda from a fountain. We decided just to pay and not say anything but during the time we were eating we heard two other parties around us complain about the charge for club soda on their bill. This is an obvious money grab from corporate and will likely backfire on them. I (a cpk rewards member who used to visit cpk at least a few times a month) will not be back. California Pizza Kitchen aka CPK was on the chopping block and scheduled to close as well as many other smaller restaurants in southern Cal due to the pandemic. So glad this CPK will remain open and almost be back to normal. During the pandemic, this CPA remained open for takeout only. After over a year, with more easing of COVID restrictions, I noticed this restaurant had diners inside and in their outdoor patio. I was glad this location remained in full operation and had not closed down. After speaking to management, it turns out, corporate received lots of requests to keep this location open. I've dined here over the years since they've opened and my little nieces love the food. It's a clean casual descent family friendly restaurant in Beverly Hills. The service was noticeably more attentive and the staff, was genuinely happy to accommodate all my usual idiosyncratic requests :) Revised to 4stars! read more

The service, and The food here is okay nothing crazy but it'll hold you till your next meal. Bathrooms are a bit beat up lol. I have tried multiple dishes from the mexican street corn, guac and chips, salads, bowls, and main entrees. But the dish that is probably my favorite would have to be the thai crunch salad, the portion is enormous and 9/10 you're full about 2/3 into the salad. Thats has to be the best thing on the menu. One of my best friends is out of the country taking care of his ailing father so I wanted to order his wife and 3 kids dinner. Placed the order at 6:14. It said 45/50 delivery estimate. At 7:27 CPK in Beverly Hills canceled the order. I called CPK in BH and was put on hold for 3 minutes and then handed off to a central hub. I explained the problem and was only then re-directed back to CPK in BH where I had to explain the situation again. The employee was having trouble understanding the problem and was not helpful when I asked if I could place the order directly with them and have my friend's wife pick it up. I asked to speak to the manager. The manager agreed to place the order but then told me I could not pay for it over the phone with a credit card. WTF. They are a pizza chain. How are they not setup to process payment over the phone!? Needles to say my friends wife and kids were starving at this point. They finally were able to pick up the food at 845 but had to pay for it themselves. What a mess. Just unprofessional. There are too many family owned restaurants that need our business right now and provide great service and food to entertain CPK in Beverly Hills shenanigans ever again. read more

This flagship location is the CPK I was raised on since I was born. It's a shame now how bad it's gotten, this is not the CPK I recognize anymore. This has been the worst customer service I've experienced of any restaurant I've been to in years. The manager does not care about customers AT ALL, it feels like a pretty hostile and obnoxious atmosphere. Not kidding, it's like walking into a very eery purgatory, like you're walking into a creepy circle of hell where everyone is just biding their time, aimlessly wandering around, something slightly off about it in ways you can't articulate. THE ABSOLUTE WORST CPK I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO. One of my favorite restaurants is CPK yet i was sadly dissapointed at not only the service but the attitude that was given by the waiters, which is shocking given that we're in a nice location. We walked in and nobody was there to serve us/tell us where to sit, we sat ourselves. Then after sitting for 5 minutes we asked if we could order and all the workers talked amongst themselves discussing whether or not they want to close the kitchen, keep in mind it was 45 minutes before closing. Our food came way before our drinks, and they were cleaning the whole restaurant up while we were eating, it was very loud and not enjoyable. Lastly, 30 minute after i ordered they decided to come tell me that they don't have the food item I wanted and that I can't change it to something else. Huge portions! The Thai salad is my favorite, along with the fungi pizza on thin crust. The atmosphere is very family oriented. Great place to go with fam, friend or casual date. While shopping in the area, I came across this location of CPK and it was way past lunchtime without many other choices. This is not a food destination by all means but it serves the purpose of providing an inexpensive quick hot meal; the server was polite and our dishes were brought promptly. The pea and barley soup was hearty but lacked seasoning; The sesame ginger chicken dumplings were light and cooked well. What I liked about the menu was the fact that they list the calories. ( The soup and the dumplings had 390 calories each; all the pizzas , pastas and entrees are very heavy in calories but given the giant portions , they can easily be split) . The lunch did not " break the bank" and I left promptly to finish my Saturday chores in the area. I will definitely come back to any of the locations if I have to. read more
