I had such great hope for this place when they could get my car in after waiting for 2 months after a hail storm, but nope. We are on week 8 after they said my car would take no more than 1 week to 10 days. Each time I call they say they will back by the end of the day and I do not get a call back. I call again and they are working on something that they said they already fixed. I just want my car back in one piece! read more

I can't express enough how happy I am with the work that was completed on my car by Caliber Collision and Geico. Just 8 or so months after buying a flawless 2008 Nissan 350z (the car I had wanted since I was 14 years old and was finally able to get), the rear end was backed in to by someone in a parking lot who drove off, scraping both the bumper and denting the quarter plate metal. Even though it was painful to look at the car every day - I hesitated filing a claim for a couple months because the damage wasn't to any critical part of the car, and felt I wouldn't have to time to arrange for the rental and all that stuff that comes with not having a car for what I guessed would be about a week to get fixed. Once I noticed that the area of scraped paint was beginning to rust, I finally decided to go ahead and get the process started. I then kept rescheduling official inspection appointments due to schedule conflicts, but after going in to Caliber during my lunch break at work, and having Charlene take a few minutes to assess the damage to my car for a quote (if I were to have it fixed without insurance involvement), I decided I'd go forward with my insurance claim, and scheduled an appointment after the holidays. The ease of the entire process, and the friendliness of their staff (especially Brad with Geico, and Charlene B. with Caliber), left me in complete confidence. After Brad looked over the damage, and provided both an optimistic and pessimistic time estimate (which I was grateful for), he not only notified me that because I carried "uninsured driver" coverage, he could file it under that coverage instead of Collision - which not only saved $250 off my $500 deductible, but also qualified me for a free rental vehicle during repairs even though I didn't carry rental car coverage. Because I hadn't arranged for anyone to get me, or for rides to work - I was just planning on getting the inspection that day and not leaving the car there. I decided to leave my car there that day, as he estimated 4-5 days maximum - and since I was offered a free rental car, I had no reason not to get the process started. After dropping off the car Tuesday morning (January 15th) at around 8AM, I was given a rental vehicle (Dodge Challenger) from Enterprise (on site), and was able to get to work on-time that very same day. Both Brad and Charlene kept me updated on the status of the car, and on Thursday (the 17th) at around 3:30PM, I decided to stop in just as they were wrapping up my car. I paid my $250 deductible to the friendly ladies at the front desk, and after a few minutes Charlene walked me to my car to show me the completed work. Not only was the work on my car done in far less time than expected, it was flawless - my car looked brand new (paint matching, etc)...the ENTIRE car was washed and detailed on the outside (even tire and wheels were - and still are - shining). After Charlene handed me the keys - I was already happy, but to my surprise, after stepping in I realized that even the INSIDE of the car had been detailed (though I had left a bunch of junk in the back, everything else was completely cleaned, and they cleaned around my stuff. Their attention to detail and care they took on my car made me one extremely satisfied customer. And to add just a small note on their attention to detail - on top of detailing the car, they even re-applied my Longhorn and Chicago Bears emblems that I had on the bumper (I had told them they could toss em, but they took the time to get them back on in the exact same spots anyway). Anyway, to sum it up - the entire experience was stress free, took less time than expected, cost less than I had planned, and I could not be happier to be back to driving my car again. This experience went so well that even though my Geico policy had actually ended prior to all of this work being done and I had switched to esurance (just to save $15-20), I plan to switch back to Geico. I plan to recommend this Caliber location to anyone that needs body work done. I will be going back myself when I have any other scrapes or dings that need work. Thanks you guys for an outstanding experience and getting me back in my car so quickly! read more

Caliber Collision - Flawless work completed on my vehicle by Caliber on S. Lamar - Body Shops Near Me - Austin, Texas

I don't write many reviews but man - my experience at Caliber was so frustrating that I wanted to share. My insurance company towed my car to Caliber for repair. I wish I was given a choice of garages b/c after researching Caliber I saw all the crummy reviews. To make a long story short - they initally told me the repairs would take 2-3 days and that they would keep me fully updated throughout the process. That was, to put it lightly, completely false. The repairs took close to 30 days. Everytime I called, I couldn't get anybody on the phone that had any answers. They would take down my name and number and never call back. When I was able to connect with somebdoy I got the run around. Different answers everyday, different excuses etc etc. When I finally picked my car up, it was filthy. Glue and sticker residue all over the outside. Trash and literally old broken car parts strewn about the car. All in all it was an incredibly frustrating experience and I hope to never have to deal with the unhappy and incompetent staff at a Caliber location again. read more

They didn't just fix my car doors that were damaged, they cleaned the inside of it as if it was theirs. Great customer service.

Got into a minor collision. Calliber fixed a problem that a hairdryer could've fixed for 2,000$ (I had to get it done by a body shop because of insurance). Then quoted me 4,000$ for a small part replacement. When I turned down the small part replacement they "fixed" my car (read: treated the back half then did who knows what to the front). Two days after I got my car back the entire front bumper "mysteriously" slid off. Do not recommend. read more

Over the tree apocalypse in February a tree hit in the rear view and when we picked it up there was lipstick that wasn't ours spilled everywhere. So I highly do not recommend this auto shop. We believe that it was the shop workers. There also somehow a rat got into the car and chewed up a lot of the leather. read more

They are unorganized. They sent my Lexus IS to the Kyle location because I had was told results would be faster. The Kyle shop called me asking if I had issues with my Nissan and if the radiator was leaking. I explained it wasn't my car and that I had the Lexus. The asked me where my car was and had it been dropped off. I was told repairs would be done 6 p on Thursday. I tried like heck to contact them about it and was told I would get a call back. I called them multiple times and around 530 was finally able to tell the Car wasn't going to be ready. Again when picking up my car they did know where it was even though it was the person who checked my vehicle in. I had to again tell them about the cars shop change. The people are nice, but they don't communicate in a timely manner and lack organization. Word tot the wise don't use them. I'll never use these guys in the future and read more

I have used caliber collision over the years. I have always found them both helpful and professional. This past week I needed a repair that was not due to an accident but did need to be repaired. They told me to bring my car when they could take a look even though it was probably going to be a small repair Michael Ross was so helpful and had the repair done while I waited. There was little to no charge given the type of repair. The bottom line is whether I have needed a significant repair involving insurance or a smaller repair I always receive excellent service. Also the reception is welcoming . Monica took my call and helped facilitate the help I needed. read more

These guys are great. Always works with insurance, returns the car cleaned and vacuumed and keeps you updated throughout the repair process. This particular shop off S. Lamar is my favorite. I've been coming to them for years even if there's another shop closer to me. They have a customer for life!!! read more

Don't go to caliber for repairs. My car came out with more issues than when it went in. Their paint matching is a joke, my car door won't open, and now there's a high pitched whistling noise when you drive 45mph+. Stay away!!! read more

Couldn't be happier with the staff, the work and the advice that were given to me at this location. They provided honest and reliable guidance on how to handle the repairs needed on my vehicle. Outstanding Service received from: Ray Rodriguez - Intake Rep Rick Miller - Manager [and Truck expert] I highly recommend this shop for service. read more

After being blown off by Caliber Collision and finally given an estimate of $500.00 to repair my Acura car door handle, I never heard from them after I said okay. So imagine my surprise when I visited a competitor and got immediate service for $121.00. It must be nice to make so much money that my piddly issue doesn't matter, but that was my experience. If you want honest, prompt, and caring service, consider another location. (This was after they had repaired at least three minor accidents for my family in the past.). Headed elsewhere with my automotive needs. read more

Excellent customer service, management is outstanding. The job in my car was well done. Thank you, Johan and Joe.

I regret the lowest review rate is one star. If you want to mess up your repair experience, THIS IS THE SHOP. Very unprofessional work quality (such as a gap between a plastic bumper cover and the fender above the tire was not consistent, or the surface around the gap was not even. Most importantly, they replaced left light of my vehicle but did not adjust the lamp height....So terrible quality of work and I wasted my time to visit that shop twice and explain/describe what was incomplete work....) also one of the receptionist's attitudes towards their customer WAS "VERY NICE...", read more

I was in town briefly and needed a car rental in a hurry, they have an Enterprise rental car at this location, super convenient! I was helped by a gentleman named Cory Thompson, he was super efficient, friendly, and was able to quickly expedite my rental. I will recommend to all of my friends because of the over the top service i received Thanks so much Cory! read more

James and his crew were phenomenal. I was rear-ended and didn't have rental car coverage. After explaining the situation to them over the phone, they were very understanding and encouraged me to bring my car over to the shop to have it looked at. I knew they were incredibly busy and like most places in the area, had a long list of repairs and services to take care of. Despite how busy they were, Caliber worked diligently to ensure my car was repaired in a timely manner and went above and beyond every step of the way. They were super communicative, straightforward, and my car was returned to me looking better than ever. Caliber took what could of been a huge headache and made it a completely painless experience and left me feeling incredibly grateful for their services. I will return to them as a loyal customer again and again and sing their praises to anyone looking for a trustworthy, efficient, and upstanding repair shop. read more

My car has not been repaired yet so I can't rate the service yet. But I would like to mention how professional and responsive Valerie was during my decision making process. She was great! I reviewed several Caliber locations and decided on S Lamar because of the Valerie's kindness and professionalism by just speaking to Her on the phone. I decided to bring my second vehicle to this location also next week. I hope the collision work is just a great! read more

The service and the communication was terrible and they treated me terrible. The attention to detail in the paint and body work was terrible. They ordered the wrong parts for my vehicle and then never communicated there mistakes to me. Also they called me a liar and wouldn't fix the problems I had with them. Also nobody followed up with me afterwards to see if questions or concerns following their completion of my vehicle. Definitely would not recommend caliber collision to anyone. read more

I've left at most 2 Yelp reviews in my life but I had to make one because my steering wheel was a little worn out from use and was a little discolored and I had gone in because someone had hit my car while it was parked. When I got it back, not only was the outside of my car beautiful (and clean!) but they had done some magic and it looked like my steering wheel was brand new! I have no idea how they did that because I thought it was just worn out leather but it looks perfect and I'm floored and I'm always coming back to see them read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I got in a fender bender on 5/15 and my Insurance sent me here. Long story short, they've had my car for exactly a month now and are mysteriously "still waiting on parts" from the dealer. Renea is my service person and keeps saying "I ask about the parts multiple times a day" but that's the only excuse I've been given. Do NOT come here. read more

This felt like a scam and was unprofessional. This repair shop is on the list of approved vendors from my insurance company. I arrived for my scheduled appointment and the waiting area smelled like a wet ashtray. I gave my name and was told to have a seat. The insurance rep came out and called the name of the man that walked in some minutes after I arrived. I asked politely about my appointment as it was now after the scheduled time. The receptionist said I needed to fill out paperwork, but they already had my information from my insurance company. And when I made the appointment I asked if they needed me to fill out paperwork and was told that they would need only the information provided by the insurance company. The paperwork was to stall me while she took the customer scheduled after my appointment first. After 30 minutes the insurance rep and another worker call my name to look at my car. It's a minor repair that doesn't impact driving the vehicle. They told me the repairs would take TWO weeks and told me they could put me in touch with a rental car company they use. TWO WEEKS for a small scratch, but luckily they had a relationship with a rental car company. They were also very clear that my car would be sitting in their lot and they weren't responsible for any damage or theft during that time. Okay, that's standard, but why would you have a functional vehicle sit for two weeks needlessly? I asked if it wouldn't make more sense to order the parts and then schedule a time for me to return for the repairs. They said that yes, I could do that, but by then I felt like this was a scam. I left and called to say I wanted to cancel the repairs and find another repair shop. Would never go back there for anything. read more

Brought my '04 Civic here after a break-in because GEICO said I had to. Needed to replace a window and my center console, simple enough. Brought the car in on a Friday and was told it would be ready by Monday... Tuesday at the latest. On Tuesday I got a call saying my parts were hard to come by (really? Basic Civic parts?) and they had to be ordered from four different vendors. My car wasn't ready until the following Friday and I had to pay $250+ for a rental as a result. After getting my car back, I discovered that the passenger side door handle was cracked and the panel behind it was scratched and no longer fits. Caliber's people did this while trying to get the broken glass out of the door. Thanks a lot. Never again. read more

4 days into the New Year, I got rear ended. Caliber Collision was on the list of preferred shops, so I took my car in to see what they could do. After a short wait, Roy came out to introduce himself and let me know he'd be taking care of me. He said I needed a new bumper, but they could only give an estimate for what they could see. He took pictures and sent in all the information to the insurance company. After setting up an appointment, I dropped by and got a rental from the Enterprise located within Caliber Collision. Everything went smoothly and everyone was a joy to work with. I got my car back the next day. I think I mentioned how shiny and clean it was about 3 times. They vacuumed out the interior, wiped everything down, gave my baby a good wash. She looked so good! No more bird poop that wouldn't come off in the gas station car wash. It was like having a new car again. The work they did was spectacular. My new bumper matched perfectly. Did I mention my car was SHINY? So pretty. If you find yourself getting rear ended at a red light by someone who was texting/yapping on their phone, get over to Caliber Collision. They will treat you right, fix everything correctly, and your car will be cleaner than when you came it. read more

I was referred here by my insurance agent, otherwise I never would've chosen this place. The 'specialist' I had to make an appointment with (and by specialist, I mean they specialize in ripping off my particular brand of insurance, NOT an actual car model specialist) took 3 minutes to look at the cosmetic damage, did not even bother to speculate if there was body or mechanical damage, and suggested to replace everything brand new. Of course that works for them, then they can charge the highest rates to my insurance company. Since my insurance company was handling the bill, I can't complain about the price - although I discovered it was fairly steep, after talking to my regular mechanic. What really killed the experience was the lack of professionalism by the staff. The 'specialist' quoted me a turn around time of 2 days, max. 3 days later, no call to explain the hold up. When I called, the front desk sent me to his voicemail. Next day, same thing - no call from them, and my 'specialist' was mysteriously unavailable to answer his phone OR return my messages. Was my car being held hostage? This was worsened by the fact that their motto is "restoring the rhythm of your life," - um, it was the EXACT OPPOSITE, CALIBER. Finally the 'specialist' calls me on day 5, a Saturday, at 4:30 pm. "Hey uh... your car's ready, and we're open til 5 pm." Thanks, because I totally can rush over in 30 minutes in the middle of my Saturday errands. All in all, they were 5 days late with the return of my car - and I probably would've accepted that, had their hairbrained staff just called to explain. Also - get some new receptionists - unless you like to hire people who sit around and talk about their personal lives while your customers have been waiting 10 minutes for a form to fill out. read more

Rip off! Do not take your car here! They declared my 2001 BMW wagon which only had a minor bumper damage a total loss their estimate to fix as $6,000 more than book value and USAA would not reverse the decision or take a look at other estimates from other body shops. Caliber Collision refused to repair my car saying they represent USAA. I just got my car beautifully repaired By Twomey Auto Works on S. Congress They not only repaired everything Caliber estimated but repaired and painted both from and rear bumpers and fixed me windshield wiper cleaner system and detailed the entire car for $3,500!!!! It look just like new and i am so very happy! USAA and Caliber are just out for a quick deal and the $$$ Do not trust or use them they do NOT work for you or your car's best interest. read more

I really blame myself for bringing my new car here. I had some fairly minor bumper damage from a parking lot accident. A friend recommended a place that was in north Austin and I lazily chose this place for its convenient location. Won't make that mistake again... My car had been in the shop for 7 days for the minor dent and paint repairs. Reasonable enough amount of time I suppose. They called to let me know it was done, and I excitedly drove right over to exchange the crappy rental I had grown tired of. It took them about 45 minutes just to get the car brought up. Upon my inspection the repair looked entirely half a$sed. Why even call me to say it is done when the "new" paint job has massive paint drip streaks in it and glaring errors. Any shop that remotely cared about their reputation would have redone the work before calling me. Huge waste of my time in the middle of the day, and worst part is I had to re-rent the rental car that I thought I was done with. Hopefully this round they can do a better repair work than an average middle schooler with the oversight of a blind squirrel. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This whole company is awful. I was in an accident (not my fault) and insurance required me to use this terrible, stressful business. First round of repairs were at the 620 location. They did an awful paint job, broke my door, damaged my air pressure sensor, tape was still left all over my car when I got it back. There were more problems than that. So I took my car to this (S Lamar) location... They were friendly, not very efficient, but they really seemed to care about fixing the other location's mistakes. I get my car back, looks nice...but I had two VERY expensive pairs of sunglasses stolen out of my center console. I will NEVER return. If you have a choice, do not use this company!! read more

I must say, even after reading the other reviews, I had a really good experience with this place. I was in a minor accident (a girl backed up into my car while it was parked. She left her insurance info on my window, along with her name and number, bless her heart...) and I was not at fault so her insurance paid for all damages on my car. Her insurance paid for me to go to Caliber Collision as well, which is how I ended up there. Long story short, I got a free rental car for the week (a pretty sweet one too, compared to my actual car...) and when my car was returned they not only fixed the damage from the accident, which was just a dented rear wheel well, they also fixed similar damage on the other side from a different accident (same thing happened, only it was a drive-off), they also fixed some of the rubber lining on my door that has been falling off for like, a year, some additional sealing on the same door AND I'm pretty sure they also changed my window wipers! Phew. not to mention that throughout the process they called me every day to give me a status update and to see how I liked driving their a fore-mentioned sweet-ass rental. The guy I was working with (Alex) was particularly helpful and attentive, and I couldn't have asked for more. My excellent experience stems from the fact that I had to pay exactly $0.00 dollars for this entire thing and it was all done quickly and efficiently. I like it, I like it a lot. read more

Another Alex quote to paint 2 panels on a car for 2000! We will be going somewhere else.

Johnny is amazing! I've been here a couple of times recently and both times the service has been unparalleled! My car was hit and the process at Caliber was so easy! I got frequent text updates about the status of my car and estimated timelines of completion. In addition, our service manager, Johnny, was amazing! He was extremely communicative and knowledgeable. I also went back when my spoiler came off my car, and worked with Johnny again. He squeezed me in and fixed my spoiler the same day! Definitely recommend Caliber on S 1st if you need body work on your car! read more

I'd put the the quality somewhere between incompetence and ignorance. I took my vehicle to them three times and finally gave up as they never fixed it. Seriously bad service. Do not use them, especially if your insurance recommends them. You are courting disaster and disappointment. read more

I originally was happy with Caliber Collision. And wrote them a great review. I'm no longer happy as I discovered a part missing from the interior of my car. And a hole poked in a leather seat. My leather steering wheel cover was stolen from my vehicle while at this Caliber location. It was logged on intake after I brought it in, which they acknowledged, and they don't know where it went. No idea if it stolen by an employee or someone broke in. They asked for a few days to look for it and supposedly talk to the people who may have worked on it. They said they'd call back but didn't. After I called, I had to repeat everything. It didn't seem that they looked into it at all. Manager displayed no empathy or accepting responsibility, regardless if it was an employee or someone broke in while in their care. It's not an expensive item (~$20), so an apology, a refund for my loss, and a promise to try and prevent this in the future would have been enough for me. After pushing him on it, he finally offered to go over to pep boys to buy a similar product (which is why I am giving 2 stars, instead of 1) but would not offer a monetary refund so I could purchase a new one where I had bought it on Amazon. I didn't end up getting any auto work done, so I can't comment on that. read more

How often do you have a hassle-free...dare I say, even an ENJOYABLE experience at a car repair shop? I haven't ever had one up to now, so Caliber earned my 5 stars for showing me a new, positive side of the business. In 10 years as a licensed driver, I have never yet had to deal with making an insurance claim for an accident. I didn't really know what to do, but bless the internet for guiding me. The guy who dented my car while switching lanes (with his eyes closed, presumably?) had initially offered to pay out-of-pocket, but after schlepping to 3 different auto body shops and getting estimates upward of $1000, he changed his tune. My estimates included Caliber, where I got a wildly upmarket price from the other two places. But when I had to go through insurance, the other driver's insurer gave me only two options, Caliber being one. I ended up with them because they were down the street from my house. I took my car in on a Wednesday, and Scott did a walk-through for the estimate. I had a bit of an issue, in that there was already some paint scratches in the same location where my car was dented. I told Scott, and he said that since it was in the same place as the dent, it probably wouldn't make a difference and they'd have to replace the fender and bumper anyway. He also told me that everything would be covered and I wouldn't pay anything. It felt kinda iffy, but I just didn't know what else I could do. A car was rented to me immediately in the shop, and I drove away. I opted in to receive notifications on the progress of my car by email or phone twice a week...um, amazing...and I got a call from Scott the next day (Thursday), saying my parts were ordered and on their way. The next week, on a Tuesday, Scott called again to let me know that my car was now in the paint shop, and everything should be ready by the next Thursday. I was heading out of town and wouldn't return til the next Saturday, but I didn't want to pay extra for the rental car. When I asked if I should just return the car before going out of town to avoid extra charge, he said not to worry about it. The next Thursday, I got another call from Scott telling me my car would be ready after business hours that day, but I could come pick it up the next week when I returned from my trip. Here I am, car keys in hand, and I could not be happier. My rental car return involved nothing more than handing the keys back, and then my car was pulled up right to the office door with a brand new bumper, fender, and headlight, all paint perfectly blended, AND my car was completely washed and the inside was vacuumed, dusted, and...wait for it....THEY CLEANED THE CUPHOLDERS. My cupholder was nasty. Even I wouldn't have cleaned it. The invoice they returned to me for parts and labor was hefty, but as I had been promised, I didn't pay one red cent. Impressive. read more

We ended up here after we valeted at the Driskill. When we came out, there was much buzzing among the parking crew and our car arrived .. with a smashed bumper. Nice. Our insurer recommended Caliber and I have to say our experience was pretty painless. They had an Enterprise in the location and I dropped the car off and got a rental in 5 minutes. It was promissed by Friday and it was done Thursday at lunch. The work looks great and we were barely put out. Very corporate, very efficient. Which means to say that it does not have that local Austin feel. Four stars only because it was a bit anonymous and mechanical in its culture. read more

These guys are professional and polite. They replaced my bumper in less than 24 hours, and when I picked up my car it was detailed inside and out; cleaner then the day I bought it. They even gave me a ride home when I dropped off the car. This is a Geico preferred body shop, which means that a Geico rep. works out of their office, and handles all the paperwork for you. It's nice having somebody there who ensures that that quality work is performed in a timely manner. read more

Alejandro! It's been a year since I was there and I still remember how accommodating he was!

I had my car repaired at Caliber through Geico after some bozo rear-ended me. Everyone who I worked with- the secretary, mechanic, and rental car associate were friendly and helpful. I was able to get my car into the shop and drive away with my rental car in under 30min. The shop gives you text updates which I appreciated as well. Overall, very happy with Caliber and would recommend it! Oh, and the coffee in their waiting room was pretty good! They had a bunch of different flavored creamers. Well done Caliber! Great customer service! read more

I hope I never have to take my car back to Caliber, but if I'm stupid enough to wreck it again, I know that I will. They were fast, pleasant and honest. They stuck to their quote, listened to my concerns about how long it would take, and in the end, finished the repairs THREE DAYS EARLY!!! That NEVER happens in the automotive industry. NEVER!!! And the work looks pretty freaking good. Can't even tell I had a door-scraping fender-bender. Oh, and for the cherry on top of my ice-cream-filled-goodness experience, they washed my car, inside and out, when they were done with it. And it was dirty, really really dirty. read more
